Flash 10 worked on the mt3g slide with eclair. I dont see why it wont work on the vibrant.

Flash 10.1 never worked on the myTouch Slide. That was a big misconception. A lot of people were confusing Flash lite with Flash 10.1. I was a Slide owner since the phone first came out so I know.

That seems to be the same problem people have with the vibrant. they dont realize that it has flash lite installed already so they install flash 10 and they go try a site and it may work with flash lite so they think "OMG Flash 10 works!"
I love 10.1 I've been on 2.2 since a couple months ago and I'm not going back lol but I stream movies really well
to odin and back again

Yea, that's definitely the issue. So listen up people, Flash Lite is capable of some of Flash 10.1 features. Some videos and games will play with Flash lite, but of course not all. DO NOT INSTALL FLASH 10.1 on an Android phone that is not 2.2 Froyo or greater cause you'll simply be wasting your time and your phones memory on software that WILL NEVER work unless you have FROYO 2.2 or GREATER!

Flash 10.1 does not work on eclair. unless your galaxy 3 is running froyo then you have flash lite which is a scaled down version of flash 9. somethings work with it, but not a lot.

You're not going to get anything out of this. The APK they are talking about is for the Flash Lite that is already installed on our phones. It runs some Flash, but far from everything. These guys install the APK and go test some random flash game site and say it works -- because they picked a site that already worked before they installed. Then others say it doesn't work, because they test on a site not supported by Flash Lite.
If you want full Flash 10, you need to wait until Froyo. That's all there is to it.

i dont know how else to word the search, so here i am starting yet another thread, sorry, im starting to realize waiting for froyo may end up being a huge waste of time, and i dont know if or how to flash an unofficial froyo on my stock vibrant so im trying to figure out what adobe flash lite's use is if it has any use at all...

You should try one of the new Froyo 2.2 leaked not official ROM.
Flash 10.1 is so much better than the piece of S*** Flash lite that came with our phone. Besides website like Hulu that specificially blocks viewing from Android phones everything else work wonderfully.

There was a rumor that the flash apk from the sprint evo 4g would work on our phones. And it did install just fine, but did nothing more than flash lite for some users while others reported that they were unable to view flash at all after installing.
I installed it and for me it was the same as flash lite.
The only known working full flash.is on froyo im afraid.

If you're already on the gb bootloaders you can use this guide. It's in the Captivate forums, but also works on the Vibrant. Worked perfectly for me.

There are some very disturbing things about how Google collects and saves info on us all .if I'm unsuccessful then I'll get a blackberry or just a no frills phone .thanks

Yes there is a way, just in case you don't have it here we go . If you don't have clockwork mod recovery installed use your phone to download the cwr update.zip in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028 .Scroll down and look for directions on how to install cwr. Use a file manager app called " Astro " to put the file on your internal sd. Once you have recovery mode installed you can simply use your phone to download a custom 2.2 ROM and flash it through recovery mode (there will be directions on how to flash this in the thread) , just be sure to READ everything before flashing. This is probably the most popular 2.2 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441976 , you can search for others if you wish. This will pretty much void your warranty so if that's a problem then your probably stuck with 2.1 until you get your usb port fixed. Here is the closest Stock 2.2 ROM you will find if that's what your looking for http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674519

yes... you can get an update.zip from http://dl.dropbox.com/u/59531727/Clockwork Recovery/Update.zip taken from Woodrube's Signature.
FYI DONT use KIES. It may Hard Brick your device. Place this update.zip in the root of internal SD (NOT inside a folder). You will have to do reinstall packages twice to get it to CWM maybe.
There are many good 2.2 ROMs like Moped's Ryders ROM and Fishman's.

I can't help but to notice that your signature says MB855. Since you are using a Photon, are you doing this modding for a friend's phone? If so and that person is not the "technical" sort, I suggest you leave them on 2.2 for now.
ICS ROMs are well beyond what you would think since we have no official ROM from Samsung for our devices, however they are not without dangers and pitfalls. There is a bug that is hitting Vibrants, Captivates, I-9000's, a few Asus Transformers (tf101)-in fact someone got hit with it yesterday. It is called the Encryption UnSuccessful bug and it will render the Internal_sd useless and you will have to hack your External_sd to run ANY ROM. Other than that and the fact that the Vibrant has crappy GPS (sans hardware fix), ICS ROMs are spectacular, especially since very few phones are running ICS at all, let alone 4.0.4.
I suggest you read about the EU bug but my pick for the best daily driver ICS ROM is by far ICZen with SubZero kernel. You can find it here but check out the dev section too.

Hey guys and gals (although I suspect mostly guys =|)
I have become a noob. A few years ago I was fully into this with flashing and modding scene with the Huawei ideos 8150 phones, done as a service on a local auction website, mostly as many found they were too slow.
After doing this for about 6 months I dropped it as I went into study, my pc has been formatted numerous times since and I can't for the life of me remember what the Android software is called that directly interacts with the linux subsystem on the phone/device.
Why? I now have a T-mobile Galaxy S Vibrant (SGH-T959) and i've been trying to get CyanogenMod 10.0 onto it.
I have rooted the phone thru SuperOneClick via pc (as Z4root would crash).
I have installed OCLF v2
Android system is curently Froyo 2.2 (krnl 2.6.32.9)
I am able to successfully flash the clockwork mod recovery but please see attachment View attachment 1636948
The phone automatically re-installs the default recovery apk's when the recovery menu is launched. Why?
I have taken a look at alternatives like heimdall and odin to flash the ROM but i'm not at all confident because I've never had a ROM fail to flash, so I'm in-experienced at recovery
I'd really appreciate your help on this - I've done research into why this might be happening, but those cases seemed to be unique down to other factors..
I am not familiar with OCLF v2???
Here is a guide with files etc. The issue you are having is because of froyo more specifically android recovery 3(e). The easiest thing to do IMO is Odin back to stock, that takes care of recovery issue, root again then use the update.zip from this guide.

Hey
OneClickLagFix v2 makes an external ext3 directory for swapfiles and prog access or somehting, it's pretty amazing and it sped up I/O via Quadrant by 1600 points making ythe phone so fast it can't complete the boot animation because it's already loaded
Thanks for that guide too, Imma work thru that one shortly
1) You mean the kernel?
2) Recovery doesn't use apks. It's a binary program that runs without the OS. Apks are used within the Android OS, for example being either apps or components like the status bar.
Visit the CyanogenMod wiki for a full update guide for the Vibrant (there's a link in the nightly thread under "from Samsung stock")

Oh wow, a reply form the mod-god himself . I am honored!
I ended up following a poorly written guide to mod my Vibrant from Android 2.3 to JFD using ODIN. Flashed update.zip which seemed to give me a temporary CWM recovery, next reboot it was back on stock. Tried again and the CWM recovery stuck.
Phone is currently running CyangogenMod 10.1 with gapps-jb-20121212-signed as is running amazingly well.
I realize that I've flashed a nightly build of 10.1 and using it as a daily driver was not recommended, but so far it's flawless with the expcetion that I haven't yet tested GPS and I haven't found how to get Google's own navigation software back. I'm a computer tech who often visits customers homes, so fairly important that it works

Most of the CM work comes from the Galaxy S-line work done by pawitp, and the work done by others in the CyanogenMod team and Gerrit.
You can get Maps from the Play Store.
