So the situation:
At work, I can access the Wifi network, for which my HD2 has legitimate access (I paid and everything).
My laptop...not so lucky.
I was wondering if there's a way to access the network through the HD2, have it connect to my computer by USB, and then have my computer access the Wifi through the HD2
So sort of like 3G tethering...except WAN-side is 802.11
Tried searching...wasn't able to come up with many obvious soultions in the current body of literature. Any ideas? Or am I stuck?
should be possible
try to disable dataconnection and only have wifi activated and try again
it works when using a andriod sd rom

just received my A70, installed GApps and a few programs through the file viewer after transferring via USB.
Then, I wanted to download a few apps from the market...
I got Barnacle setup on my X10, and my laptops can both see the new WiFi network created by it, but the Archos can't
Has anyone tethered using this method before?
If so, I think I am using the wrong channel to connect, but can anyone advise which WiFi channel the A70 would require??
I can pick up other WiFi networks, but can't actually connect to them due to restrictions on the routers (I'm at work, they require MAC addresses and for some reason wont let me add this to the network )
Try any channel below 11. It's a known kernel issue.
if it creates an AD-HOC connection, then that's the issue.
Aha, yes it does. Damn
I'll have to try the proper tethering method then using the cell phone tether option (which I briefly tried but failed to connect through bluetooth)
Try "Wireless Tether for root users" with it's bluetooth option. Works for me Have the tether activated on the phone while pairing it with the Archos though.
I have been trying to connect my SGS2 internet to the PC using wirless hotspot, but all the time it shows limited accesses on my PC and no way i can connect to internet? If anyone know the solution, Please let me know?
I am on stock ROM rooted with CF root!
I have a similar problem with limited access. Usually I manually switch (I have a wifi on/off switch) my laptops wifi off and on again and it usually fixes the problem.
The wifi hotspot does give me problems when trying to connect to all versions of Windows and Linux. Am hoping to find a solution by searching through these forums.
I have two laptops and one LAN connection. Say I connect the LAN to laptop-1. Then I use Mhotspot software to turn that laptop into a virtual wifi hotspot and connect laptop-2 to that hotspot. This way I have internet on both laptops without any additional router. I'm using this method for 7/8 months now.
The problems starts when I connect my HTC Titan to that hotspot. I can't access internet on Titan or Laptop-2, even though they're connected. As soon as I disable wifi on my Titan, internet on laptop-2 starts to work again. But it doesn't work the otherway, means if I disable wifi on laptop-2, Titan still doesn't work. Wifi signal from Titan somehow stalls the network. I'm almost certain because I have an android phone too (Galaxy S). I can connect the galaxy and laptop-2 at the same time and both works flawlessly. But whenever I start Titan, the virtual network stalls. Galaxy shows its connected but can't browse, Laptop-2 shows its connected but can't browse, Titan shows its connected but can't browse. Is it something to do with windows phone? Or I'm doing something wrong.
Note, the Titan is new but the Galaxy is old and the galaxy never created this problem. I tried to connect the Titan alone to the network, but obviously it also didn't work.
Thanks for any help. I don't want to buy a new router just for Titan :crying: :crying:
Update
I have somewhat narrowed down the problem. The networks actually stalls soon after I open the the marketplace or resume any app download. If I browse through mobile IE or use the facebook/email app it seems to work fine. But after opening Marketplace, the network stalls within minutes.
And another clarification, I do not use any sim with my phone yet. I'm still not sure I want to use Windows phone as my primary device yet. So 2G/3G + Wifi issues, pointed in other threads is not an issue here. I don't have sim, so no chance of cellular data to conflict with wifi. I would really appreciate some help here!
I just bought a chromecast and I'm trying to figure out if I can get my GNexus to host the hotspot and be the chromecast remote.
In more detail:
I do not have internet from a cable/satellite company. The only internet connection I have is through my cellphone hotspot.
Chromecast will be connected to the internet through my cellphone hotspot (SSID: AndroidAP).
When my cellphone has the hotspot running it does not show up on its own network (AndroidAP).
I need the phone to show up on the network (AndroidAP) so that I can see the chromcast and use the phone as a remote.
Is this even possible?
Really? No one?
Is it possible?
I'd be very curious to know if this is possible or not. I found this thread because I'm wanting to do the very same thing. I still have unlimited data through vzw so this would be terrific if there was a way. The only thing is that the wifi turns off when the hotspot is turned on (at least on mine) so there would have to be a way to get it to connect to its own hotspot without making mobile data shut off.
Same thing needed Badly here @@
I also want to connect my moto e to it's own hotspot for remote control my tablet using my phone as mouse(specifically) and keyboard/joystick.
(I know keyboard and joystick can be possible without doing that but MOUSE can't)
Hellllllllpppppppp ......
1.5 years later and there's still no way to do this. Not only that this is the only page on the internet about it.
The de thread here
I want to use my phone WiFi network to connect my PC to it and then use the phone to remotly control keyboard and mouse on my PC over WiFi, but I just can not connect my phone to it's own WiFi network. :/
One thing I could do is using a WiFi extender to connect both devices to, but then I couln't get the devices connected to internet since they're connected to a "no-internet" WiFi extender network.
Still nothing? I need it to use my security camera which needs internet connection. I also need to be able to view it on my phone using the camera app but the devices have to be on the same network. Sux that i can't do this.
I have this peculiar problem. I am using Micromax A116 dual SIM (Android 4.1.2)) with internet pack activated on both SIM.
The thing is when I use internet on my laptop using Wi-fi hotspot from my mobile, I am able to acess net on my laptop if data connection on SIM 1 is activated. But as soon as I switch my data connection to 2nd SIM i.e. SIM2 I am not able to access internet via Wi-fi Hotspot though I can access it through USB tethering. I don’t know what’s the problem though my wi-fi icon on laptop shows me connected on both occasion but I can’t access net on laptop. Please help.
might be your rom is not supporting dual sim hotspot... try other fast and stable 4.2.x roms in development section........
