[Q] Skining Taskbar & Softkey bar - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Is it possible to skin the taskbars on the lockscreen and the main screen with different graphics??
I have been using CHT editor to do this and it puts the same picture on both.
I have different wallpapers and would like to skin these taskbars to match.
Thanks for any hints and advice.
A

Thanks for your reply...
As always, I did spend time searching for help before I posted.
We are not all "experts" and sometimes what may seem simple to one person is a challenge to others.

Help identifying this icon set

Sorry if this is a bit out of place in the ROM development forum, but I was wondering if anyone here can help me identify the name of these set of square icons, if they are part of a series. I noticed a lot of the chefs here have used these in their ROMs. The icons look great, and I'd be interested in getting more of the set. Thank you .
These icons are from recent HTC 6.5 ROM's, HTC has created new icon art for the start menu I'm not sure if the full set is posted anywhere.
I got this from Topaz leaked AT&T. There are some icons that you see in there in this. Have fun.
Thanks for the replies guys. Yes, these are what I've been looking for. I've tried looking around but couldn't find any more of these in the forum. Anyone would be so kind as to post some more sets? Preferrably in icos and dlls, but pngs are cool too. Thank you.

HTC HD2 individual Icon replacement

Does anyone know how to change a sngle icon image on the htc hd2? I have got garmin mobile xt but the icon is very blurry and wondering if anyone has got a clearer icon image and how to replace just one single icon on the htc hd2.
By the way is there some way to increase the resolution of the icons. I've noticed some icons are sometimes more clearer than other.
Any help would be appreciated.

Just look around, you really have as much chance of finding them in the themes and apps section as we do, by the time we go find the links, and post back to you, you could have found it ....
EDIT:
Sorry if I sound a little harsh, but we are here to help , not do the work for people .....

very nice 50% transparency by sharkie405 here
Great Thanks !
Transparent Top Curtain
Is there a cab that makes the top curtain transparent?
Thanks in advance
here are the manila files, put them in your windows folder. back up the originals first.
I was able to get the bottom curtain transparent by using Sharkie405's Transparent CHT Softkey cab. I tried the manila file from the Transparent curtains zip file but it had no effect. See attached screen shot. I am trying to get the top black bar transparent. Thanks for the assistance.
that's the taskbar not the curtain, its not possible to make it transparent however cht 2.0 has the option to skin it to match your wallpaper....

btw. what is the best method to clear the start menu text. I've try a couple that just crash my phone. (very anoying)
Cheers, Billy
im pretty sure you can skin the taskbar on 6.5.x....
I haven't heard anybody complaining about that yet, and. it would cause some serious complaints lol...
the start menu text in the top left??
its contained in a .dll file which requires a lot of messing around to edit and a different approach depending on your rom.
not a very user friendly tweak im afraid......

Hi thanks for the info on the "Start Text". Guess I'll just keep looking and crashing till I get it.
As for the other Your probably right about skining it in general I was meaning more from using CHT (From Frequently asked questions section)
Q: Why can't I skin my taskbar and softkeybar?
A: This feature is only available on WM6.5
Not trying to show of or anything, Just that bit stuck in memory.
Not Forgetful all the time, just when the wife or the boss is asking difficult questions.

I cant remember which .dll it is but this link..... might come in handy if you decide to go down the route of messing around with the taskbar.......
I dont know what they mean by that Q in the CHT thread, I think that includes 6.5.x because Ive seen screenshots in the today screen thread from ppl on 6.5.x with skinned taskbars very confusing...... lol
to skin the taskbar (aka make it look transparent) is doable.
but it depends on your theme (the one you have checked off in your systems part of your phone.)
you will find the image at:
hkcu\ software\ microsoft\today\taskbar\taskbarthemeimage
it is 36px high.
simply cut off the top 36px of your desired bg pic and change the registry.
haven't found an easier way.
hope this makes sens.

[Q] Has anyone developed a user manual?

Hi All,
First off, I LOVE themer! I've been using Apex Launcher for some time on my HTC OneX (rooted, ARHD 31.3 ROM) and I've often gazed with longing at the home screens that some people have designed using UCCW, knowing that I'll necer have the time (or the artistic flair) to design my own. Now I can!
But there seems to be SO many customization options on Themer, and I'm a little overwhelmed. For instance, I'm using a theme with an RSS feed as a central tile, but I'd love to be able to change that to a 'favourite apps' tile. I'm sure the option is there, but I can't work it out. So, has anyone developed/is working on/knows of a Themer user guide?
I work on a cruise ship and internet access is slow and expensive (£10 for 167 minutes!) so I really don't have time to surf around looking for answers to design questions.
SO, does such a guide exist? If so, please point me in the right direction. If not, is anyone up to the challenge?:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
The video is kind of like a user guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474039

Thanks miles_muso for your kind words! Yes the video vhngu930 provided is a good one, but for your problem I can help here. See the thing is that you'd first have to delete that RSS icon and then hold down on the homescreen > Themer Actions > Favorite Apps. Now you'll have a massive heart (we're working on adding icon packs soon), which you'll be able to edit. If you hold down on the icon > edit > tap the icon, you'll be able to replace it with an icon image. You can maybe try here for icon images which may help, they by Jeppe Foldager and the small whites and darks should help for now: https://www.copy.com/s/DxsaXLatvBGf/Share/Icons
Hope this helps!

[Q] Simple Glass icon help?

Hi all,
So I'm using the theme simple glass.and I want to make a few changes to the original icon set on the home screen. Since these are shortcuts, they point to an icon image but I am having a terrible time finding where they are stored. So if you can help with that that would be great. The follow up question would be: do most designers include a broader icon set or just the ones they used? Which would then lead me to ask where to find the rest.
I know these are basic questions but I am just starting down this particular road and need to get some beginner crap out of the way. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Thanks for your enthusiasm, and glad to have you on board. Themer's icons aren't really stored, they are built into the app. Frustrating but this is to prevent users stealing the icons that are from other designers.
For the icons, unfortunately the designer who created the icons has now removed them. After much searching, the only result we could find was this one here. The only problem is that it's a paid icon pack, and we can't guarantee that the pack will look the same.
Sorry about that!
- Marco
Thanks Marco. I think I have it figured out. I am hunting through some icon sets for Everything Widget. Just need to find one I like. Great app!
