I don't get a prompt to mount when I connect to my comp. I've searched the menus with no luck. I am really impressed with this rom and think it's just me. help please.
Drag notification bar down and select USB Connected.
Its has nothing in the notificationbar. On my computer it says usb device has malfunctioned. But nothing on my phone its just charging. I have windows xp.no internet on my comp either.

That happened to me once, I restarted my computer and it worked. I would also just tried another USB port after that
I've been having this problem for awhile. I've switched phones, computers
erased my sd. I don't know what the problem is.. Ive even bought a new usb cord. I'm going to buy a new sd card and try that. My computer says it doesn't recognize my phone. All I want is too put music on my card.. It worked so nice before the ota 2.1...i really appreciate your input.
It could be the drivers. See if it gives you the option to uninstall the drivers from Device Manager. Maybe you can add an ADB device. I forget how.

I can install it and all, but once i click the SDK manager, a black cmd prompt pops up and then vanishes. Also i cant install a drive for my erissince everytime i try to locate the file (and i do), it says that it couldnt locate the folder.
I have read thru the website's guide and installed jdk. Im on a 32bit Vista. Droid eris phone.

What do you mean, you can't install a drive? Do you mean you can't mount the SD card? Have you tried installing HTC Sync for the Eris from HTC's website? I know the SDK is supposed to have the drivers necessary, too, but just a thought.
After the Command Prompt vanishes, can you use the SDK Manager then? Have you selected any Available Packages to download and install from the SDK (if you need anything besides the tools).
Also, I see that they changed the organization of the SDK sub-folders as of v8. aapt.exe and adb.exe, and some other files are now in the platform-tools sub-folder now instead of the tools sub-folder.

No, i have not installed any additional packages. By the way, i do not have a platform-tools folder, just add-ons, platforms, tools, sdk manager(which doesn't work), read me and uninstall.

Well let's take one step at a time. I'm concerned that you say you can't get HTC Sync's drivers to install. Are you sure you've tried the right one (meant for the Eris)? It should be version 2.0.33 and apparently it's dated 4/23/2010. Download it again from the link on this page http://www.htc.com/us/support/droid-eris-verizon/downloads/, unplug your phone, install HTC Sync completely, then plug your phone in. Wait for Windows to install all the drivers, it may take a few minutes to finish.
What method are you trying to use to mount your SD card to the computer? Meaning, are you using the official method from the phone to mount it from the notifications menu, for instance, and which dismounts the SD card from the phone as long as it's mounted to the computer?
Does everything else in Windows Vista work right? Are you able to plug USB flash drives and/or external hard drives in and have them work?
I forget the circumstances, but in the past (not right now), maybe when I'm not using my phone for tethering, Windows gave me a drive letter for my phone as long as it was plugged in, even when I didn't choose to mount the SD card. Trying to view the contents of the drive letter results in an error until you actually tell the phone to mount the SD card as USB storage.

Done, nothing much happened. when i open HTC sync it says disconnected and i cannot find my phone for phone monitor options, nor sync (it's plugged in).

Yes the notification method. I use the same method to dismount it. I have KaosFroyo v38 ROM.

If you're trying to actually use HTC Sync to sync (not just for the drivers), you have to be running a stock ROM like xtrSENSE, xtrROM or others. Or a Sense-based Froyo ROM, but those aren't really ready for day to day use yet.
Then when you plug your phone in you get three options instead of two:
1. Charge only
2. Mount USB
3. HTC Sync
And it has to be in HTC Sync mode for the HTC Sync program to see it.

In other words, with some ROMs when I plug my phone into my USB cable on my computer, the computer immediately shows a drive letter for it. It won't be accessible, though, until I choose the mount USB option on the phone.
There are other alternatives for mounting the SD card through USB, maybe you should try them.
There's a widget on the market that isn't free called Dual Mount SD. Personally I use it, it allows mounting the SD card without dismounting it from the phone. Given the problems you're having, though, perhaps this wouldn't work for you either.
There's a free program called QtADB you can find a link to in a thread on here. Google for QtADB XDA and you'll find it, and it'll link to the website for the program. You can even set it up to do this wirelessly if you have a wireless network/router. When I had real internet (not tethering like now) I tried it and it worked great. It uses something free called Wireless ADB or something like that.
You can do many things with this program, and you have to have the Android SDK installed to use it, but you can see what's on the SD card and copy files to and from it with it.
The only other alternative would be to use a Micro SD card to USB adapter, but then you'd have to turn your phone off every time you want to access you SD card on your computer.
I use DropBox (free) to upload files from my computer and download them to my phone all the time.

The goal of this guide:
I rooted my family members Nook last night but got hung up for a few hours trying to get the ADB Drivers enabled. This is how I made it work. This guide will be expanded and improved once I have my own Nook Tablet (Jan 12th).
Things you need:
• Nook Tablet (Duh)
• USB cord to go between NT and Windows PC
• PC with Windows installed (Tested on XP and x64 Windows 7)
• TGPS_Launcher.apk Installed to your Nook
• ADB USB Drivers for Nook Tablet Extracted to C:\Ntroot on your PC
• USBDeView open on the Windows PC
Step 1:
Ensure that your Nook is version 1.4.0 and not 1.4.1. (I will expand this step later when I have a nook in my hand, I suggest a Google search if you do not know how to do this)
Step 2:
Find this thread on your Nook and download the TGPS_Launcher.apk to your device, then install it. This is well covered in many other threads. (Will expand this step when I have a nook in my hand)
You should now be able to allow USB Debugging, and disable Auto Mount. These settings can sometimes change without your permission, so always uncheck and recheck them to ensure they are properly set.
Step 3:
Plug in your Nook to your PC. Your nook should still respond to your commands, if it tell you in USB Mass Storage mode, then retry Step 2.
Go into your Device Manager. If your Nook shows up with a yellow explanation mark indicating an Error, then you’re in business and really don’t need this guide. All you need to do is update drivers from the file C:\Ntroot. However, assuming that your Nook shows up under Disk Drives and USB Mass storage, then ADB wont be able to see your Nook, please keep reading.
Step 4:
Time to start the USBDeview utility. This utility will open to a list of almost all the drivers your computer has for USB Devices. We are going to uninstall a few of them, namely anything that says “Android” “Nook” or in my case, “Motorola”. You do not need to remove any that specify ADB.
Near the top right hand side, you can sort drivers by when the device was last connected. Do this, then remove any utilities used when you plugged your nook in. Done? Ok, time to see if your work was for nothing.
Step 5:
Make sure once again that USB Debugging is turned on for your Nook. Unplug the Nook, then Unchecked USB Debugging and Check it again. Now plug your device back in and check in Device Manager. You will hopefully see one of two things:
A: You will see your nook with a yellow error icon next to it, which means you just need tell it to update from C:\Ntroot.
B: At the top of the device manager you will see Android Devices, and your nook will show up as Android Composite ADB Interface
If your Nook is still showing under disk drives and mass storage, then try steps 3 and 4 again. Still having trouble? Do a factory reset and try again from step 1.
You should now be able to run your rooting program!

The procedure worked fine on my laptop. When I did it on on my home PC I forgot to disable auto-mount and the Nook installed itself as mass storage. I was able to right click -> un-install all the USB Mass Storage entries (with the Nook unplugged), disable auto-mount, plug the Nook back in, and have it show up correctly.
In short, I did not need to use "USBDeView" as I was able to remove the diveres manually. I suppose if you have more than a handful for USB devices (I just have a Mouse, Keyboard, and printer) "USBDeView" might be helpful to determine which drivers to un-install...
The device manager is enough for most people, but there is a somewhat large number of us that are having trouble still. Possibly because of other devices we have installed before. (I dont understand how all the drivers work and I wont pretend to)
Some people have go so far as putting a fresh install on Windows on a partition of a PC.
I had this problem with both my laptop and my desktop, which surprised me. This worked on both the laptop and PC, so hopefully it can help other people.
I cant wait to get my own tablet on the 12, I will take lot of pictures and make this process more user friendly.
I did all of the steps several times and I still get WPD Driver for the portable device and mass storage for my Nook Tablet. I am guessing I am up a river without a paddle right now.
I will try it in Linux and/or try it on someone's Windows machine.
I am trying to install the drivers from Google's SDK package. So I browse to the correct folder, but device manager says "windows could not find driver software for your device".
Any suggestions? Is there any other set of drivers specifically for NT?

Did you sort by last time plugged in and delete all of those too? Have you re-checked and then re-un-checked automount/usb debugging and such?
This is interesting, you'll have to come back and let me know if you ever get it working on your PC. Maybe its a good excuse for a nice healthy re-format and reinstall of windows?

I don't know if they are different, but I used the drivers specificly from the thread about rooting the NT. [I would post a link, but I'm typing from my phone]
You have the yellow error mark next to your device? If so you've almost got it!

Yeap, that did the trick, thanks. Drives installed successfully this time, but adb devices still returns nothing.

This drove me nuts for at least a day. Turns out it is what happens when you are plugged into a USB 3.0 port on your PC side. Find out which USB is 2.0 (Front Panel for ZT Systems), use it and life suddenly gets really good.

At last, after many different things I tried, I am getting a response to adb devices!
I tried disabling and uninstalling usb devices, uninstalling java 7 and installing java 6, re-installing android sdk, at last it worked. Sorry, I can't guess what the problem was :/

The problem is sdk uninstall and use ccleaner to clean your PC and registries. Use the drivers provided in this forum

Well I have done everything and still get permission denials for copying and chmod on my Nook Tablet.
Took the Nook to work and tried it on a fresh machine. Everything went great. Drivers installed and everything ready for usb debug and non-automount and then I run into the same permission errors and being denied access to the folder for Zerk and no chmod.
Same issue no matter what machine. What is wrong with my tablet? I am re-rooting it from being automatically upgrade to 1.4.1. I get it to 1.4.0 with the SD card restore.

Did you find a solution? Thats a problem I sadly dont know how to help with. I would start with:
-Check USBDeview and delete anything android/Nook/usb related. Delete just about everything.
-Restart the device
-Uncheck and recheck the USB Debugging boxes
-Recheck and uncheck the auto-mount box
-Test
-Try a different USB Port
-Try another PC

I had literally this exact same problem the 6th time I restored and flashed. IF im right, you just need to uncheck then recheck usb debugging.

I just bought an Archos 80 G9 Turbo 16GB and I cannot connect it with my computer that runs Windows 7 64bit
When I plug it, it is detected as an Unknown Device (error code 43) and nothing is mounted.. (but tablet is in "slow charge")
In an old Win XP computer is working good, this made me think it's not completely tablet's fault..
here what I've tried, deeply searching on internet:
-Downloaded ADB android Drivers (in Archos site, on internet, various sources), forced installation of them, problem come out: Drivers are not for a 64 bit Os
-Uninstalled Kies, LG Pc suite and rebooted after every change..nothing changed
-Unactivate and reactivate after reboot Windows Media Player 12..no change
-Changed Usb Mode in tablet from MTP to PTP.. nothing changed
-Installed a lot of USB apps in Google Play and tried changing values..no change
-Upgraded tablet from GingerBread to ICS, deeply wiped and restored several times, and in every configuration, I allways had same results..
-Changed USB cable, several of them tested..and guess?? Nothing..eheh
-Tried shouting at it, tried kissing and asking for his forgiveness..but nothing
I'm stuck on Stock! i cannot upgrade it with XDA custom, I can only connect to pc via FTP server....!

1. To root and to enable SDE menu you need only adb driver
2. You can transfer archos.ext4.update files using FTP from pc to tablet
3. Recovery for flashing firmware update or custom kernel creates ramdisk which is seen as standard usb storage device- "just works"
You need to give full access (Everybody) to the folder where Android SDK is installed in Program Files (x86) and through Android SDK Manager select the second item "Android SDK Platfrom-tools for download.
This worked for me on Windows 7 Ultimate.

Have you checked for the correct MTP driver package...

Only is an huge word, I have tried several dof them, and no one is working, no one is accepted by windows (it tells me they are not designed for the device or they are not for an x64 OS)
Strange thing, it accepted me usb drivers for Samsung Mobile, it installed them.. but not ADB from android... obviously, Samsung ones where not working with it..

Dowloaded and istalled a few from windows... the problem is, if it would be an MTP problem, I should not have it in PTP mode... I suppose...
EDIT: tried disabling Integrity Checks for non signed drivers with these string in cmd:
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON

These are the first one I tried.. From their site.. Not working.. Thankyou!
I wrote them in Contact and support in that site, copying and pasting the same I wrote here, they answered me, two days later.. Excited in what solution they could give me,from the heights of their knowledge, I suddenly opened and the answers was:

1 thing, when you are plugging into your PC, are you plugging it into the main hub (rear of PC), or a front port?
I had a devil of a job getting mine to recognise the driver, in the it turned out it really needs to be plugged into the rear port, it may have been a conflict on my PC, but worth a shot.

Yes, tried to connect it in every usb my laptop has, even tried in disconnecting every usb device and turned off the pc. After that I took off battery for a few minutes and started again.. no change... ERROR 43...!
In the old win xp pc I use front usb I installed 10 years ago, and works..!
ADB USB drivers from archos site are not recognized, it's not possible to manually select them.. I was able to select an old symbian driver I have in an old backup directory, but not that one... any clue?

Did you try the link in my previous post? I'm running win7 64 bit and it worked for me!
Maybe just try adding the file in your USERPROFILE directory first!

Yes, that one and a modified one.. the problem is, it remains as an "Unknown Device" (error 43).
I tried now to move that driver you suggested me in USERPROFILE (c:\USERS\"myname" and c:\USERS\"myname"\.android) is this you mean?
and same error: can't find in directory any compatible driver for the device. make sure it's done for a x64 system...
It seams to me device is not recognized at all.. not PTP or MTP or USB DEBUG....
but it works with win xp...! I tried again..!
Another doubt I have is: when I plug it to the wall charger I found on the box, it goes on "Slow Charge".. is it normal? why not fast charge or Normal? may be an hint?

OK try this :-
Download the naked universal drivers attached to this post and unzip somwhere!! (got this from the Sensation forum, would say thanks but I can't remember who posted them).
Attache your G9 then go into device manager.
Now find your badly installed driver and uninstall it. Keep doing this until all drivers are uninstalled.
Now unplug and reattach G9, let windows do it's thing. You will still have a excalamation next to "Android Drivers" at this point.
Right click on the driver in device manager and "Update Driver Software", then click "Browse My Computer....", now click on "Let Me Pick from a list...", then click the "Have Disk" button. Browse to the folder where you extracted the Universal Naked Drivers and select the andorid_winxusb.inf file.
If you get unsigned warnings click on the "trust me" or whatever it says.
Driver should now be installed.
The adb_usb.ini file is really for if you use adb, if you do it need to go in c:\users\you\.android directory (create the directory if it doesn't exist).
You can test adb connectivity by using "adb devices" from the command line.

I think this is probably because your USB cable only has 2 internal cables, not 4.
IIRC, the outside 2 are USB and data chat and the inside 2 are for 5v power.
If your G9 detects the cable doesn't have the two middle connections then it will do a slow charge regardless.
Are you using the cable you got with the G9??

Yes, I'm using the cable i got with the g9.. I could have a dual cable (the one they give to you with an external hdd), but it's mini usb, not micro...

And this is the problem.. I don't have any driver to uninstall, as if my device is an "Unknown Device" no service, no adb no mpt recognized.. only an "unknown device".. even with new drivers, the only driver it lets me install are Samsung drivers.. but obiously doesn't work!
I now tried in installing it as this samsung, just to have something to uninstall...

You are really amazing, archos is not caring at all..
Before I tried your firs suggestion in USERDEVICE and for a minute it found my device as Error 10 and not Error 43 (unknown device)... and that's the only moment my pc saw the tablet...

I too have run across this problem--AFTER woprking for 6 months with it under ADB just fine. Not just my work computer, home devices as well. Did you ever get this fixed?

I have recently bought this phone with installed custom ROM and I wanted to install another one. And then I downloaded the ROM and formatted the phone from TWRP and I just connected it to the PC and there was nothing.. I searched for hours I tried so many adb drivers, usb drivers, etc and I couldn't detect the phone in the ADB powershell nor transfer any files. The only progress I managed to do is side loading it.. The ADB detected it and then I tried adb push (the exact name of the file) /sdcard and after that (error: closed) appeared.. I think the main reason is because before I formatted the phone I didn't allow the usb debuging but apparently you can't allow it from the recovery... I don't have any type-c OTGs laying around.. How in the world am I supposed to transfer the ROM to my phone? Please help me! Thank you!

Okey, I just managed to use adb push without side loading just in the twrp and I don't know how to delete the post so excuse me for the spam!
Heyyo, I'm the maintainer of official builds of TWRP for the LeEco Le Max 2.
Usually for TWRP it can sometimes mess up USB mode if the device is plugged into a PC before it fully boots to TWRP.
Windows for some reason messes up the driver install for MTP as well. Usually of this happened you will need to manually go into device manager and select update driver on it and manually select the driver to install like this:
