[Q] How Do You COMPLETELY Delete Text Messages - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I delete my text messages on a regular basis, but when I went into that file finder thing, and typed in a generic word I knew I had in loads of my texts, and sure enough, loads popped up.
They are obviously saved somewhere, but how do I totally delete them from the the memory, my HD2 is so slow...
Cheers

try going to all messages, then go to option and change to traditional view, and then go delete--> then select all, and finally delete. Hope that makes sense.
That will delete all messages including sent. Then you would need to go back to all messages and then go to trash and empty trash bin as that is where they go after you press delete.
Hope this helps! if this doesnt work just message me

Just a quick question, need one answer thx

I installed the theaded sms cab and now my messages are gone.
I know this always happens and I just forgot to delete them before the
install.
Now: I can see all the messages in Windows\Messaging
they are unknown files and they look like 8f3500011000001f
Can I just delete all the files in this folder or will I mess something up.
Thanks in advance for anyones help.
These could be text messages (SMS), emails, or MMS message bodies.
If all of your various message inboxes, outboxes, sent folders, drafts folders, etc are empty, and any of these files still exists (happens often where WMx loses track) you can indeed safely delete them.
But if you have (and wish to keep) any messages in any of your messaging folders, you should keep them around until such a time when you can safely clear them all. I have only found limited number of means to try to figure out which of the various .MPB messages are which.
Also, I don't know if it's possible to save and decode these files into their original text. THAT would be cool!

[Q] Fantom texts

Every time I reset my phone when it restarts, it tells me i have a new text message even though there is no message in my text inbox. anyone come across this before?
yes, i know this problem, and never got it solved >.< after a time it was away.. xD
what helped in my case was switching SMS view to traditional, then while scrolling through the inbox I've found one supposedly unread message at the very end of the list, after opening it marker disappeared
how to change to traditional view and back >.<
I have deleted all my messages. if i receive a sms then delete it, it clears, but if i reset it comes back.

page 146 of manual: "To manage text and multimedia messages by folders
If you want to use the conventional way of managing your messages by folders, tap Menu > Settings > Traditional Mode on the All Messages screen. The Inbox folder is then displayed, listing separate text and multimedia messages instead of threading."
another possible solution could be using PIM Backup to backup all text messages, deleting all manually and restore back - I did not try it, as the method above helped in my case
If you had another phone with a SIM and moved the SIM to your HD2 you may find there is a text message on the SIM. The HD2 can't delete from the SIM so you need to put the SIM back in a "dumb" phone and delete it there.

how to delete emails

When i want to delete emails, it appears i can only delete one at a time. Then they go into trash, which i can only delete one at a time. I get lots of emails and this is really a pain in the as_. Other programs ( such as your call logs) can be deleted by going to menu/ delete and then in the upper right it says delete all or one by one. BUT, that same system is not in the email program . Any suggestions ????????
what email app are you using? when i open stock email app or gmail app there are boxes to left of email that i can check as many as i want then hit delete.

It is the stock email. Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. There are boxes to the left of the emails. And I can delete as many as I want. But if I have 50 emails, I have to place a check in all 50 boxes ( or as many as i like) to get them to delete. Then I go to "trash" and have to do all 50 once again. That's 100 times I'm putting checks in boxes. That's the issue. .........If i want to delete ( for example), phone call logs, there is a box in the corner that says "DELETE ALL".. very simple, very sensible
you can put a check next to the day the emails came in and it will select all in that day and delete. will be the same once goes to trash. it would be to easy to erase important emails by accident the way you want.you can blame stupid people for it being that way . but i agree it should at least be that way once it gets to trash. select individual emails to go to trash but one click empty trash.

Thank you for your reply....Maybe my phone is different. it's the At&T version. There is no box to put a check in next to the day. .........All it shows ( for an example ) is ..........Thursday (9).......................07/19/2012 Thu ( with an arrow up or down, indicating to show or hide all those emails). No box other than next to each individual messages. I would love a box there to do as you suggest, but ????????
http://db.tt/na9r2Zf4 here is link to email apk that i am using just put in system/app and reboot. I also have att but have bigfau rom so maybe he changed email apk and i didnt realize its different.

Messaging crashed after importing from iOS?

I tried to import my messages from IOS to Android 4.2 using isms2droid and SMS Backup & Restore. Now, I can see all the people that I sent a message to, but as soon as I try to go into the conversation, Messaging crashes and all the conversations are gone, I can still use the phone just not Messaging. However, restarting the phone allows me to see the names again, but again as soon as I enter a conversation they disappear. I tried to delete all the messages using SMS Backup & Restore but it just stalls on the "deleting messages" box. Now I can't delete any messages nor send any new ones, can anyone help please?

It happens sometimes that the Mms.apk is "overloaded". Your phone had zero messages and after the restore there are 1000 or more.
But can you open the converted SMS dump with the backup and restore app? Only to be sure that the dump is a valid XML and readable.
An alternative messaging app could fix the problem, because it could push the stock mms in the direction.

It can be viewed so I don't think there's a problem with the XML, isn't there any other way to delete the messages? Maybe directly through one of the folders?

saving multiple drafts to same person in android

Hi,
There's something I'd like to do on my samsung galaxy note that I was able to do on my Symbian-based device in the past, but I can't figure out how to do it under Android.
I'd like to save multiple SMS drafts per recipient. However, my Galaxy note 2 only seems to permit me to save one SMS draft per recipient, with each subsequent draft overwriting the previous draft for that same recipient.
Here's why I'd like to have this capability:
If I want to type a long SMS to someone (more than 160 characters), what I like to do is split the message at logical places such as after commas, sentence endings, etc. I would do this by getting close to the end of a given SMS message and then stopping it at the point that I choose, saving it as a draft, and then continuing my text in a new SMS starting at the beginning of the next sentence, phrase, etc. Then, once the set of drafts is completed, I will first proofread and make corrections in the entire group of drafts, and only then will I manually send them off, one after the other.
Yes, I know I can type a long message and the SMS app will automatically split it into pieces after 160 characters, but that often splits words or breaks sentences and phrases in places that I don't want them broken.
Here's how I try to accomplish this on my G1:
Invoke the Messaging app.
Select New Message.
Select recipient.
Compose first SMS.
Select the Back key (draft 1 gets saved).
Select New Message.
Select same recipient as before.
Compose second SMS.
Select the Back key (draft 2 gets saved).
However, at this point, draft 1 has been overwritten by draft 2. In other words, only draft 2 remains.
Can anyone think of a way for me to accomplish what I want (or at least something similar) on my samsung galaxy note 2?
Thanks in advance.
no one ??
This isn't possible in the stock messaging app. You can use GO SMS Pro or Handcent SMS, which allow you to create folders and save messages in them just like in Symbian. So you can save parts of the long message in a folder and send them one by one. I like to use the stock messaging app in my devices though, so the way I do this is to type out the message till the limit, copy it and paste it in a note taking app, then copy it back to the messaging app when I need to send it. In ICS and JellyBean, when you select a bunch of text to copy, you get a share button to directly share it by SMS and other stuff. So it's very easy and doesn't involve copy-pasting twice. I just select, share, done. I find this to take the same number of steps and be just as easy as saving to a folder and sending. If you must do it that way, then one of the above apps should be right for you.
I regularly send long messages, sometimes even 10-15 messages long if I'm copy-pasting some stuff from the internet to someone, but I've never experienced your problem or messages breaking up and missing content. They just reach the recipient as one big message. Although, this behaviour is dependent on the mobile network provider, so I can't speak for yours. But I have never seen this happen with any GSM provider I'm my country. I'm guessing yours must be CDMA?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Could you please tell me which note taking app you use with ics thank you in advance. Tom
This is merely a work-around for how to work on multiple drafts to a recipient. First add your name and mobile device phone # to your Contacts List. Refine your first draft as thoroughly as possible. Then address that message to your own mobile device phone #, and send it. You'll see that message twice, as both your "Sent" & your "Received" message. Your first draft is "parked" in your mobile device's phone #. Now you can work on your next draft, as you would normally. If you decide to send your first draft to the recipient, just forward it from your mobile device's inbox!
