can anyone tell me a app with which i can connect to the files that are on my file server
ES file explorer in android for example ... but webos?
thanks!
Interested in this as well..
if you know how to use ssh and sftp, that would be your best option, since there's an ssh server and sftp app in the preware app browser.
that preware app seems to have bricked my device :-( so first I have to fix that, but you are right, that was my first thought as well.... I will try that as soon as the device is fixed (long night :-( )
[Q] Network File Transfers
Anyone know an app or method for transferring files over to the Touchpad? The actual file, not just streaming video or whatnot. I picked up a touchstone, so it would be cool not to have to plug wires in... ever.
I'm a similar boat but would actually be ok with just the ability to stream media from a windows file share.
Closest I've found but haven't tested is the following:
ugh I can't post external links
do a google search for webos xorg and it should be the 3rd link down titled: IOBox - PC File Syncing (xorg tools) - WebOS Internals
from what I see it's just a way to create a mountpoint to a windows CIFS share. Would be nicer if something like android's file expert existed.
To have a simple network browser on the Touchpad would make it 10x more usable.
that is one of the things webos lacks of :/
i cant tell my girlfriend to ssh onto the homeserver just to watch a movie or pictures.
maybe some dev could make an ugly but working app for that
with preware you can use ssh and sftp for cli transfer.
but a network file browser would be alot nicer imho

No, but you could set it up for her on the tablet so she just has to launch it and then set up and sftp client on her computer such as filezilla. After that, it's just a matter of dragging and dropping files into filezilla.

If you have sshd on your tablet, you can easily use a gui client on your computer to connect to it like filezilla.
I was hoping there was a convenient app for us lazy people...

Yep, nothing really out there until someone writes one for it
is there any news or ideas?...does any one know the devs of ES file explorer ... is there such a huge difference between web os and android ...
.. 10 dollars for such an app from me
(having that app - I would not need any android ...)
I use this:
http://www.precentral.net/tbtransfer
still in alpha but good enough for small files. Not recommended for files >100Mb as it takes much longer compared to usb cable.
perfect, thanks.
is that any unsecure, not beeing protected in any way?...
I think it only works with computers connected on the same router.

I understand you are looking for an app, but I installed the uberkernel which supports mounting of remote shares. There is a good how to if you look on google but basically you update your kernel to uberkernal or f15c, install Internalz from preware, add a line to the file /etc/fstab, and execute a mount -a command in a command line. Now I am able to browse my network share and copy files back and forth. The only problem I ran into was that I was trying to mount a sub folder of my shared folder but you can only mount the shared folder itself. I went crazy trying to figure that one out when it was actually rather obvious...
Wifi file transfer
Is there an app for touchpad like ES File Explorer where you can transfer files to your desktop/tablet wirelessly through a local wifi network?
I use wifi media sync works perfect for me.
Cheers

Hi All,
Wondered if anyone has any ideas for a Kies Air alternative for if oyu want to move away form stock ROMs but still be able to wirelessly move files from PC to Android devices?
I see there are many apps in the market, anyone know one that is easy and intuitive?
Ralph
Software data cable from the market. Allows you to view as ftp.

Awesome. Thanks duder!
File expert is a file explorer that allows you to share folders via ftp or via a browser on your PC, so it's my call for being a so complete app.
Also, there is an app called wifi explorer which basically does the browser option that file expert has.
That.
I use an app called webkey. I have been using it on insanity rom for quite some time. I have found it to be as good as kies-air.
Edit : Webkey needs you to have root though.
you can also use "solid explorer" and using share option to have ftp connection.
AirDroid seems to be an awesome replacement for Kies Air for me.

Is there a way to SSH (to transfer files) onto the prime? I'm wondering if I need to root in order to do this. Thanks!
Yup! Just install the android SDK. It has a tool called "adb" in it. With it, you can do things like:
adb shell <-- starts an ssh-like shell
adb push <-- put files from pc onto tablet
adb pull <-- get files off tablet
It works over USB so it's not quite SSH, but it's pretty darn close.
Sweet, I'll have a look! Thank you
Wireless adb is possible and you can just install a SSH server.

Awesome. As soon as I get home I'll look into this. Thanks guys!
One alternative is to use something like File Expert (file explorer) to host an FTP server. Then open up your desktop FTP client and upload to the tablet that way. That's how I got some things copied over - now that I have the KB dock I'd probably stick files on a flash drive.
I haven't tried it on the prime but on the OG, I did find Samba useful.

I use ES File Explorer that has FTP and LAN transfers as well as a traditional file explorer. It will also do Bluetooth transfers as well.
For SSH I use Connectbot, but its more of a terminal client and I have not tried to transfer files.
Thanks guys. I installed an FTP server and this allowed me to transfer files right over! Man I'm liking how open android is compared to iOS. Many many great features!
I use better terminal for ssh and astro file for ssh file transfer.

Exactly why I never use my Ipad anymore n gave it to my woman..lol. possibilities are endless with Android. When I first got my Ipad, there were no good android tablets out. Once I heard about the prime, it was truly the first tablet I thought n now seen, that blows ipad1 or ipad2 away n all features.
Oh and Samba is a great app for sharing files over wifi.
paid app , but works fine: QuickSSHd
I also use better terminal emulator for ssh plus lots of other things. As far as transferring files around my network I like to use es file explorer, I can pull videos and roms and whatnot right off my freenas box through the LAN tab in ES. I think it is using the nfs mounts but could just as well be using my cuts shares as I have both services setup for all the different OS in my home.

So you want to control a android torrent client from another android device?
I'm gonna do some research, but I know that utorrent offers a remote service where you can control a pc from anywhere in the world with little to no firewall/ router configuration....it used a middle man server.
I suppose if there is a client that offers a webui, you could copy/save a shortcut that went to the webui URL button that executed the command of choice.
But I've never even heard of a android seed box before.
I think bit torrent on market does.. the paid version though

Hello,
I have the same scenario and I am also looking for a torrent client on android which can be managed by web or by another android remote torrent client.
I think the only possible solution is to port transmission.

I have the same question as you i wonder if you have found a solution. I have seen that µtorrent beta now exist for android. Moreover they released the remote torrent but as far as i can see this is only for the pc/mac version of µtorrent
Same problem here.
I hope they add that option to the utorrent client on android.
Now you can just take over android with webkey (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.webkey&feature=search_result)
or airdroid https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid

A bit late, but I use dropbox and dropsync
So dropsync autmatically syncs a folder from dropbox to your local storage
With ttorrent you can then auto load this folder to download the torrent
nah I haven't found and android solution. .. What I did was I bought a mini pc ,hook that up to the TV and basically use that as my torrent box
Would have been sweeter to use a Android stick for it but I could not find solution

Here is my scenario. I have a old smartphone with Android, what I want to use for downloading torrents. I wish to have access remotely to add torrent files and take the final downloads in my computer. I figure it out how to do it with BitTorrent Sync... I add the torrent and I take the final downloads in my computer and with tTorrent I download the files (he can automatically scan a folder for torrent files). Theoretically everything is perfect and need to work, but... BitTorrent Sync don't synchronized the files in real time. Sometimes he start to do that after 6 or 24 hours... randomly. Somebody knows another solution to do that...?

Im using tTorrent autoload function /Folder
And im syncing via GoogleDrive app - Autosync for Google Drive.- sync each 5m
So if i add to the Google Drive folder some .torrent files - autosync copy it over to Android/Folder - tTorrent load it and remove it from folder.
That the best way ive found so far , newest version 1.3.0 of tTorrent has also WebUI control, but on each torrent i tried to download or autoload i got :INVALID error. So ive moved back to 1.2.4

Transdroid on the phone
I thought this app was a MS office clone replacement for Polaris, so I bought it. Their website implies it can open docx, xlsx etc but it seems to be limited to their extensions. I tired the windows version at it works great. What am I missing?
Well, the reviews should have been an indication.

The reviews on the Play store indicate that you may have just purchased a pile of crap.
5 reviews, 2 1-star, 2 4-star, 1 3-star. Only one review is in English basically stating that this app does little more than basic text editing.
Sorry, you may want to try Quickoffice (it is free and owned by Google).

i don't know about version in play store, but the Hancom Office preinstalled in Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is really great. Very similar to MS Office, interface optimized for touchscreens, no problems with .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .rtf with pictures. Easily opens 90mb powerpoint presentations.
So please share apk if you have these models.

That's what I was expecting. according to the vendor an update is coming this month that will also be download able. In the mean time yes please share the apk
I found a file extracted from new 12.2 tablet, with 6 apks in them (3 viewers, one share, one says launcher, last one says widget). PM me, I'll send you the link. I couldn't get them working on rooted 10.1. Simple install didn't work. Moving them into system\app didn't help. There may be a check built in, to check the model number.

Yes same results. Perhaps a compatible version is on its way. From what I could tell running the windows version it was superior to other such Office clones. A key indicator is that it worked with check boxes embedded in a document as well as conditional formatting. Can't wait to give up my surface pro for a better experience (lighter, thinner, longer battery, no windows 8.1).
Hancom office video review. Though it is in Russian, but major features are shown, and it works quite good.

Got Hancom Viewer working on my Note 8 - 4.2.2. Nothing special nut works....
But main office from the dump wont work as - "HancomOffice_Shared.apk" is just for install, not launch even no sources there...some ôshared" smali inside...
"eMeeting_HANCOM.apk" is the main app to get office to work - it is Samsungized inside the app with all sources needed - but API 19 so no go for me to try on my current setup.

Here are the files from the dump needed to get run the viewer functions. No flashable zip - put files manually into system as it is in the file.
Launcher works, couple of files pdf, xls, xlsx i tried to view it worked - view only!!!
It looks like also editing functions and all sources are in those "viewer" aps itself, but Samsung probably do not allow to launch Hancom from "HancomOffice_Shared.apk" - in order to get editor suite to work(check AndroidManifest of both apks - one is INSTALL_ONLY!!)
- but "eMeeting_HANCOM.apk" its manifest states to get Hcell, Hword launched. If someone more skilled with some more time as i have could try to edit "HancomOffice_Shared.apk" in order to install and launch the Hcell, Hword - they both have almost identical "shared" smalis inside but eMeeting has some more Samsungized sources for some kind of e-colaboration/meeting sources.

No No, it is possible to run, actually eMeeting is not needed and it is only one apk for KK.
Hancom will probably offer that app to everybody on the market - so lower android versions should work as well.
It looks like this Sammy version is a bit dependend on that widget.apk that is forcing MagazineUX layout to that widget - widget is displayed in my drawer of NOVA L. but actually does nothing - it should load recents docs etc....probably because of MagUx i also can not see single icons of Hcell, Hword like in that video review....
Those single viewers apks have also editor functions inside - when decompiled you can see.
I was able to rework that widget to launch in normal "hancom" widget style that will be probably be there for everyone else who buys it - i was able to see those 3 editor icons to launch (Hcell, Hword...) - but actually i just got a dialog window that said something like "We need to donwnload something from Hancom servers" and was doing nothing. There is also version check - i did not tried to rename my device to be NotePro in b.prop like i was doing with some other versions of Polaris Office in order to run another devices version on other.
I am not going to play with it anymore - i ll just buy it when available probably for cheaper than time spent with this. I am not that good at this - just posted if somebody better skilled might have a look. It looks nice from the review but probably will be same crap - will stick with Polaris+Kingsoft.

As was said above, Hancom requires Android API level 19 which is 4.4. We're on 4.3. Until that changes nothing much is going to happen. And who knows, depending on Samsung's licensing deal/costs with Hancom maybe we'll be thrown a bone and receive it in our update to 4.4/M-UX.
Any chance of rooting/CM ROM to 4.4 or will Samsung updates break?
