I have a HTC Evo 4G with software version 3.30.651.3 from an OTA update. Is it possible to downgrade to the stock 3.30.651.2 rom then root the phone or is it to late to do anything after I accepted the OTA update?
I am trying to root my phone and use the stock rom. I am looking to root so that I can use OpenVPN. Any help would be great.

hi
now iam using modaco custom rom 3.1
can i upgrade my hero to 2.1 which is gonna release on april?
Are there any steps to do that or just download that file from htc site and run it?
I think that should work fine, but it will not be rooted anymore i guess?
from what i gather you'll irreversibly lose your root access if you upgrade to the official one. Something about improved security. Wait a bit and the rooted version of the stock rom would pop up somewhere.
do i need to create any goldcard to upgrade?
or goldcard process is only used to downgrade from custom rom to 1.6 official version?
I've got a rooted HTC Flyer 3G running Gingerbread. Due to problems with cwm I don't trust the cwm backups.
Now an OTA update on HC is available for my device. I know I'll probably lose root but that would be ok for me.
Is ist possible to OTA update without serious problems?

If I root my stock Sprint S3 and leave the stock ROM on it can I still get OTA updates from Sprint?
I just saw there is a planned update coming from Verizon soon. I am rooted, without a custom ROM. Will I lose Root if an OTA update comes through?
Hi,
If you only root the phone and custom firmware has not been installed, do you still get OTA updates?
Thank you
