Has anyone tried the 2gb SD cards from A-data or the ones from Expansys? I would like to know if they're compatible with the qtek 9090.
They're supposed to be high-speed but I guess that won't make much difference if the device doesn't support this. Doesn't matter, I just want to know if it'll work or not.
Also, does anyone have any experience with the reliability of these cards? They don't explode after two and a half read/write operations or anything?

I never try that brand but im using 2GB from sandisk on my BA it work fine...
I have a 1GB A-DATA 60x speed and have no problems.
GREAT, thank you both -- dankjewel and dakujem (hope this is correct, jozefr). God I love this forum!
yes it's correct DAKUJEM = THANKS
btw if you get the 2GB A-DATA let me know if it's really ok, i'm thinking about upgrading from 1GB to 2GB too. And the A-DATA 150x is the one i think i buy too
there is a 4GB card available as well http://cgi.ebay.com/New-150X-AData-...yZ103409QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Just wondering if any of you had used a Kingston 64mb card. It seems that it only works whenever it wants in my BA, but works just fine when i use it with a readon on my PC. Just trying to figure out if it's the phone or it's time to get a new card.
Thanks in advance ...
The 2Gb ADATA 150x card DOES work!
And I think I read that someone used the 4gig model also succesfull...Dont know the thread anymore...? :?

In theory you should be able to use any size of card. The card itself handes the physical addressing, so things like the 137 GB limits of IDE should be a thing of the past. If the device has an issue with it, it's because the device is buggy.
I found a 2gb Micro sd for $19
http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4152649
And the 4gb Micro sd for $39 (Dont know whether it works with the 8525)
http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4159987
They are sold out but you can do a order and once its available, they ship it to you..
I ordered the 2gb using google checkout for $9.99 plus shipping and also the 4gb using google check for $30 plus shipping.
They say that it will b available in the nex 2 weeks time!!I wonder if they sold atleast one such coby 2GB microSD card cos I have been scanning all da deals for a 2GB microSD for quite some time now!!
do we know definately one way or the other whether the Hermes supports a 4GB microSD card?

Here is your answer from HTC Europe at the link below, it is a thumbs up!

Brilliant - thanks for the info. Soon I can have my maps of UK + France AND my music
But it's sure that will work?
From samewhere, I've read that base for 4gb is different from 2 gbm should be just a little bit more big.

They have put the wrong card type on their site but the info still stands, ring the helpline and they will confirm it.
Don't be excited by HTC FAQ! The answers are common for all the models. I bet that answer was written way before TyTN out, or even before SD 2.0 specs.
Did you ever see a TyTN with WM2003SE? So why don't you ask yourself why it is mentioned in the answer for TyTN then...

If it's not a SHDC card it should work... And I do believ it's quite unlikely we will see soon SDHC micro SD cards or phones (They are more targeted at cameras)
So all in all I think it will work. Anyway given the price I'll buy one just to try
2+GB cards
Hi I have asked the HTC support and here is their answer:
Hi,
I would like to know the maximum card size it will handle. I have found
this information on the HTC website:
*************
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/faq.html?id=29
Support: HTC TyTN
What is the maximum SD card size compatible with my device?
For Win CE 2003 =>General for SDIO is 1GB.
For WM 5.0 => SD Card is 4GB and Mini-SD is 12GB
****************
But is it a strange answer, most probably not written about this device.
The TyTN does not have Mini-SD but micro-SD AND it never had WinCE 2003.
So what is the maximum card capacity it can handle? Thanks.
Another (quick) question is if there is a difference between TyTN and Hermes. Aren't they the same?
Thanks for your answers.

Dear Customer,
I will attempt to answer each of your questions in turn:
Memory Card Capacity
There is a typo on our website which lists the maximum storage card size as 12gb. This is incorrect. The maximum memory our devices can hold is 2gb. The devices do not support the SDHC formatting measure, and as such, larger cards are not compatible.
TyTN vs. Hermes
These devices are identical. The Hermes is the pre-release name for the TyTN. There are no differences between the two.
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please do not hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at http://www.europe.htc.com/support/csbyphone.html

I hope it will help others, too.
But yet there are guys using 4Gb mini cards in their Trinitys, I believe it was...
Once again proving that the help from the manufacturer is worthless.
Not for nothing, but I went through this with quite a few Motorola phones... and each time they told me the newer, higher capacity card wouldn't work. And, in all but one instance were they right.
I mean, if the 4Gb card hasn't even been released, how would they know whether or not it works? More likely that should say "The maximum memory we have tested our devices to hold is 2Gb"
Anyone know if this is a good card?
Does anyone know how much extra it is to ship to Canada?
EDIT: I just called, and shipping is going to be about $30 US...what a deal breaker...Damn it. It's because they use UPS and they charge like $20+ brokerage fee.
I ordered one.
If it actually ships... I'll post up my results when I get it (I've had 2 backorders for teh 4Gb micro card fall through up till now).
Specification of SD cards allows max 2GB(doesnt matter if SD, miniSD, microSD), but fortunately dont know how it can somehow fake fs and os to access 4GB - maybe thru operating system i really dont know but it works. Best for answer to this Quest. could be mammaich igues. At least I hope it will be SD not SDHC. but let us know
I've got a 4Gb SD card I bought about a year ago... says nothing about the "HC" on the card or in the literature, and it worked fine with the devices I needed it to work with... devices whose manufacturers told me it wouldn't work with.
The way I look at it, if it doesn't work in the Hermes, either it will eventually, or the next phone I get it'll work in.
wait and see
I think it all comes down to just waiting until someone sticks one in the Hermes.
And if it doesn't work... maybe there be a hack to make it work.
what I want to see if this doesn't work is for them to come out with a normal (non SHDC) format 4gb (or larger) card.
4gb ... hell I want 12gb

That is true. However, a proper test would be to actually transfer 4gb to the card. Then back and forth to the pc.

Yes I've seen it in the past too, pluggin a larger then specified memory card into devices and it sees the ram space, just can not access it.
Thats what updated roms and patches are for ... and I think this is the right site for this ... just gotta wait and see.
It feels like a year since I've seen 4gb flashmem has been advertised ... and ETA on these?
So, can anyone confirm or deny these work?

Hi OlSarge,
www.blt.com. The warehouse shows inventory in realtime. Looks like they had 125 on order and got in 50 which leaves a back order of 75.
Thank you Alylea. I just ordered one from them too.
Nice, I'm thinking of getting a 6GB one too, the 8GB is a bit too pricey for my liking (Approx $140).
Just out of interest, seeing as they are based on the new SDHC format (FAT32, not FAT16) - will they work with the Hermes okay?

Hi Gav,
All indications are that they should work fine as long as you are running WM6 BUT my I recll seing somewhere on this forum that not all ROMS are set up to work with SDHC.
BTW; my sources tell me that the 8GB won't be in mass production until very late '06 or possibly even early '07.

As for the 8GB, 'MyMemory' a reputable UK firm have the 8GB SanDisk model on 'pre-order' - so they must have wind of a release date.

Hi Cypher38,
I just looked at the listing for Schap's 3.54b and it says that there is support for SDHC so it should work.
got my card working by using tnt 2 rom
I wish there was a cheapy MP3 player ($40ish) that would take this memory format. Anyone know of any? I've googled for 3 hours looking for one before asking you guys.
I just order from the same place. They said there are 40 in stock. I can't wait to get it
you could use some cheap mp3 player, but i really like my cowon D2 (2gb/4gb) + SD card yes it does support SDHC with latest firmware
its not a simple mp3 player its a PMP i just got my sis 8gb SDHC card and it works perfectly from newegg, can you imagine the 16gb card? and so on.... man thats crazy for a touch screen pmp heh you can get both the mp3 player and the sd card from newegg. I just wish someone could cook some new diff firmware for that thing would that be sweet or what.
Anyway back to 6gb, i ordered mine and i used the free shipping at amazon and it said it would be only 4 days \o/ so that makes up for the 6 bucks that you would pay for the 3-5 or so and still have it for about the same days heh.
im sure its based on location though.
oh ill try this microSD with adaptor in my mp3 player and see
i really wish though that they would not use microSD but regular SD cards, cause they are soo much cheaper then the micro or mini, but i think cell phone manufactures made it standard almost for the micro
mostly not for the pocketPC/PDA's but for the slim phones :/

do you know if that work in tytn
Hi
Thank you for all information’s you provide here
Any one knows or already tests Micro SDHC 4 GB or Micro SDHC 6 GB On TyTn with OFFICIAL HTC WM6 Upgrade!
I call HTC America and the person keep answering that TyTn NOT support more than 2 GB
I am confused! I read in more than on forum that tytn with official WM6 support 4 GB!
Whey HTC keep telling the opposite
Thank You
6gb sdhc card
Hey I here you guys got the 6gb sdhc card... has anyone tried it on the sprint mogul 6800 yet???
i personally do not know about official mobile 6 supporting sdhc... but as far as cooked ones go i hear that most of them do, and if not you can always go to a diff one right? that does
dont bother with calling for official support unless its written on the box they wont say jack, even if the upgrade does support they will not, unless you get lucky and get someone who knows what there talking about, and even then they will cover there asses in some form or fashion.
got it today!
http://www.amazon.com/MicroSDHC-Ada...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1191473928&sr=8-1
if you order that one for $78 it comes with a adaptor to SDHC and also a SDHC to USB, which is nice since my lame multi card reader doesnt seem to read past 4gb?
i put it in, it did not see the card right away after soft reboot... it picked it up using the rom in my sig
also i used the free shipping that supposed to come in 5-9 days and it came in 3 days

Many claim that it works even on old Android devices. Just wonder if any Galaxy Player owners tried this yet?
Update:
Finally got one. Similar to the experience of other users, the player will think that the SD card is corrupted when mounted for the first time. Once you format it as instructed, it will work fine.
I have attached a couple of screenshots below for those who are interested. Two of the screenshots are benchmark of 64G Sandisk (Class 6) vs 32G Lexar (Class 10).

I think I read somewhere that the SDXC I cards are somewhat compatible with older devices but not fully. That "I" degignation is new and not supported by older SDHC devices. In older devices, the "I" cards would work at a slower speeds, I believe. In this case, Class 6... I think I have seen SDXC I cards being advertised as 50Mb/sec read speeds... at class 6, that would drop do avg. 6Mb/sec... so you loose the speed the "I" standard brings but the larger capacity always sounds good. In saying so, I have not tried these. I am however, very tempted...

I'd imagine it will work just fine. You just won't be able to take advantage of the "advanced speed" aspect.
If your interested in it, just purchase it with Paypal and return it if it doesn't work. I'd give it a try, but I'm fine with my 32GB + 16GB cards at this time.

That's a good news. I will probably take the plunge and report back. As for speed, class 6 should be sufficient for music storage. I used to use class 4 for that purpose, it was a bit pain to load the music onto it for the first time but playing music from it is not an issue.
Like Galaxy Player only supports 32Gb, sorry for my English
Works fine on my 5.0, formatted to FAT32, speeds around class 6 using r14 kernel on international
I am using one on the 5.0 U.S version.

Hi Ryzir.
I'd be interested if you could explain exactly what you did to make a 64GB microSD card work on a stock 4.0...?
I've tried formatting a 64GB Sandisk microSD card to FAT32 and my 4.0 doesn't recognise the card at all...
When I first inserted the card into the 4.0 it came up with some error (corruption?) and I selected format. Been working perfectly ever since.
I should note that I'm in the US. I believe there are slight differences between US and INT version.
Frustrating

I'm using what I think is the US version or at least with US language...still no joy. The card isn't recognised at all.
Unless you can offer more information looks like I'll have to continue without...or perhaps see if I can buy a UK based one....
The only other thing I can think of to suggest is to try and format with SD Formatter (Google it I can't post link yet)

Did you get the sandisk one mentioned above? And have you considered the possibility of a "bad out of box" situation? they can happen especially with electronics this small, I had a Kingston DDR laptop memory (best in the business IMHO) that was "bad out of box" so it is possible.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I doubt rooting would make a difference, but at the same time there's no reason not to. (i had mine rooted within 6 hours of getting it out of the mailbox, and I had NEVER touched android before that moment) Maybe try rooting and flashing a popular custom ROM, Like Klins R5 and the Terrasilent kernel, at the very least doing the terrasillent (or any kernel available) along with rooting will give you the ability to use voodoo sound, and that alone is worth doing it for.
thats just weird, it reading in the other android means it should be good to go in the player.

Very interesting. I didn't knew that.
Thanks for telling me .
Anyway, my previus post is still my awnser.
I don't suggest you use that app, if i were you i'd rather use GL to SD is made especially for games. After you install one game and put the files on the internal SD, you open the GLTOSD and you should be able to move it to the EXT-SD ( of course if the 64GB SD is supported ), but after you MUST open the game from the GLTOSD, else it will bug and the game's files are going to be stuck both in your internal SD and EXT SD( it happened to me and it's nasty because you won't be able to delete them, you'll have to use KDZ to erase them from your Internal SD and for the files left on the EXT-SD, sadly you'll have to format it )
BTW, i don't think it matters the generation of the SD, so i'd suggest to buy a 32 GB( i have one, and it's very good), but if you already have the 64, can you tell us if it works?
I have a 64gb Sandisk card UHS-1 and it works great. Unfortunately, the phone does not support exFAT, so you need to format to fat. The result is that you are limited to 4GB per file. And that's all
yep, XC is the new generation with rate of transfer up to 30 mb/s or more in laboratorys, of course it doesnt work in real life haha, and yes i already have mine working in a relay 4g and it works pretty good, i dont have the g2 mini (d625) yet, im trying to buy it haha, ill try GL to SD cuz yep, im gamer, ty for the tip and, for last but not less important lot of thanks for confirm the compability, thats bad that only in fat can work, but maybe in this model d625 can work in exfat cuz, is working in a relay 4g and is of the generation of s2, i guess it will work in exfat (hopefully), ty for answer, God bless you guys
