i have a very playful friend and she keeps uninstalling apps on my X8, is there a privacy lock that asks for a pin before installing? any help would be appreciated it
If you go to Settings > Location & security you'll find the 'unlock pattern' setting, where you can set a patern you need to enter every time you unlock the phone.
I would've prefered just a normal pin, but whatever..
Edit: Oh sorry, I didn't read the OP properly. No, I don't know of such a privacy lock. Does Android have 'parental tools'?
try to check this

or maybe something similar, but better advice is not to share your phone with playful friends

Right i installed this security app that locks certain apps you tell it to. However i installed it and then thought it isnt that good but now i cant find it in the apps list, or in root. I cant remember the name of it but all it does is whenever i access an app i told it to lock, it comes up with a number screen with Password in green at the top n u have to type in a number code. Please help em find the name of the app and where its located.
Considering it isnt in the app listen id assume its installed its self as a system process so i dont know what else to do.

If you installed it from the market then go to the market and select there and it will give you the option to uninstall.
market doesnt show the app n i cant remem the name need a way to find out what its called n how to get rid of it
Have you gone to settings, applications, manage applications, and select the "all" tab. It will be there with three option to uninstall it.

I use APP Lock and love it. However, I find it annoying to unlock apps manually when I want to use a particular app.
To solve this, APP Lock included a widget that unlocks or locks "set" of apps. The problem is that when the phones goes into screen lock and is used again, the unlock setting remains and leave all of my apps vulnerable.
Is there an app out there that will "lock" when the phone goes into screen lock?
Thanks!
bump. am i the only one with this issue?
Searh for a different app lock. Unless the dev for that app is going to update that app. I dont think it has anything to do with the phone.

Near the very top of the article are 5 very good apps for locking apps down, just look at each and see which has an interface that is usable. Unfortunately, I dont have any recommendations as to a specific app and how securely it locks down an app, most store the passwords in a plain text file that are visible to anyone with a Linux machine if your phone is currently rooted.
I use a combination of hiding or freezing apps AND password protecting them. It takes someone really knowledgeable (and willing to snoop) to first unfreeze an app in TB, then go to Go Launchers' app drawer to un-hide an app, then figure out the 16 alpha(upper & lower case)/numeric/symbols password to open my LastPass and banking apps. You just have to remember that you have to FIRST hide the app, then freeze it when you are done using said app (so you have to do it in reverse order).
So I just got the sgs3, and after i set up my google account, it started downloading ALL my apps from my sgs2? I also have a nexus 7 with the same account and I think it may be pulling apps from there as well.
I do not want google to download all these apps, a lot of them are useless which I never removed. I couldn't find a way to stop the downloads, they just kept going. So I did a factory reset in the middle. I want to know how to prevent this before I set it up again.
I want to know that too, I am using only SGS 3 but my old phone was an Atrix. When I flash a ROM google start to install my apps, sometimes is nice but some others not.
Instructions !!
To stop your phone from restoring your apps you will want to avoid signing in with your google account at first boot, after you have then run through the setup process the first thing you want to do is head to the Settings -->Back up and reset page.
You then should see an option that says automatic restore -- untick this option. This will then tell the phone that you dont want your apps and data to restore without your consent
After you have completed this you are free to add your google account in settings and continue to use your phone as new!
I hope this helps

When you first set up your phone, it asks whether you want to back the device onto google. An option under it would ask whether you'd like to restore from google. Uncheck the option and you'll be left in peace.

Hope this helps,

In new to making apps, so I need a little help. I wanted to make some sort of security app, with admin privelages, but its extremely easy to reactive device admin, and uninstall the app. I saw an app called prey that activates the screen lock with a previously set password when you try and deactivate device admin, and you cannot use the phone at all till the password is entered. How exactly could I add this feature to my app? A step by step would be a great help. Thanks.
Here is a link to prey if you'd like to see it to get a better understanding. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.prey
No one can help??

Hello. I have an Android lock app application, I need help preventing its uninstall. I've already placed a device administrator's permission on it, and it can't be removed, but when you get into device management apps, the manager can be disabled and removed.
All I need if you can, little thing, is to pop the "lock" activity of the application as soon as you try to turn off the app's device management, and then it won't be uninstallable.
Can someone do this for me?
I will pay for him kindly for this little task.
Please contact with me.

Hello, I assume application is yours. You cannot do pretty much, normally the apps which have administrative permissions cannot be uninstalled without revoking administrative permission. But if you want to make an app uninstallable you should convert it to system app. That can be done with root.

Of course it can be done.
Like any parental control app.
When someone tries to access the device adminstration settings it locks the screen or pop ups a "lock pattern" activity, and if you don't enter the password you can't disable it's admin device management.
I don't know how to do so. Any help?

Oh, sorry for misunderstood, well, you can create a receiver with onDisableRequired
Here is an example
https://stackoverflow.com/q/19856344/6302432
You can take a onDisable to create a overlay with password or pattern protection (needed permission to draw over another apps).

I already know about onDisable and onDisableRequested functions.
I explain my problem, I have only the apk and not the source.
This applocker is not mine, I just edited it and added it some design and translations with APK Editor Pro.
Now that I have the apk of the applock, and I can see that there is "lock" activity that if you call it , the lock screen will pop-up,
maybe someone know how to edit it or tell me what to add to the apk file so when you try to deactivate device admin then the lock activity will be called?
