Is any way to remove google Places, Navigation and Latitude icons? I find them use less and they are taking an extra page in my menu.
thanks for your help
Use Titanium Backup..:
You can disable or totally remove them..
to remove the icons of Places and Navigation you have to delete Google Maps from your phone.
Idd
Yes idd. Remove the programs you do not need from the map system/aps. You can remove or place them somewhere else on your SD card. Use a program like root explorer to do that. When you have removed the apk,s Reboot your phone, and the icons also wil be removed. Bij removing you alse get more memmory inside your phone.
or use launcher pro and hide icon which you don`t want to have in menu ...

I just bought autostarts... and I'd like some tips on how to use it. If anyone is kind enough to guide me, it'd be great.
I put this in the sticky.
Open it, let it run it's course.
Press menu and hide the system apps and expand all.
Go through each event and tap/disable the apps that you do not want to open on either boot/a particular event. Obviously some apps need to open (ie if you use handcent, you would not disable it for sms items)
I am running CM7 stable off mSD (love, love, love) and have been downloading lots of apps. How do I remove those I don't wish to keep? I tried touching and holding but that doesn't work.

Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications
You can also delete apps straight from the home screen. Drag the icon over the trash bin, and wait a few seconds. A message will toast that says "drop to uninstall". Then, just drop the app in the trash to uninstall it.
Or My Apps section in the Market and uninstall through there.
Use easy uninstaller for side loaded apps (ie, where you manually installed .apk files).
Im looking for an app which would show some popup window containing apps/folders which I've selected.
The idea is that I could quickly access my most-used apps, and maybe folders, without flicking through many home screens.
Im using the stock A2.1 launcher (on SE x10mp).
any suggestions?
TIA
Im not sure, but maybe Folder Organizer or App Organizer apps could help you.
Many launchers with dock, can handle folders on dock for fast access.
Cheers.
It's a widget not a popup but you could give My most used apps widget a try. Never used it myself.
thanks, but Im looking for something which could anytime popup a window from which I can launch my most -often used apps or access most-often used folders.
on my nexus one i just press and hold my search key which brings up android recent apps. i think the same functionality should be embedded with all phones as its built into android.
I have that too on my x10mp (with the home button).
but recent apps isnt the same as most used apps (I might have 20 of the latter). also, this feature doesnt show quick link to a folder or a file.
The cleaner/security app keeps deleting my Google Map offline maps.
There is a cleaner exception list but somehow there is no way to put an app on that list.
I did find out that you can navigate to the "Recent app" list and assuming Google
Map app is on the list - swipe down to lock it. I did and it partially work.
With this locked - Security/Cleaner when run manually will bypass cleaning of
Google Map's offline files - *BUT* if the cleaner is autostarted to clean in the
background - it still blow away Google Map's files.. Looks like a bug to me.
Any ideas. I disable autocleaning for now.
Solution found..
Here is an update. I think I found the way to add exception.
It is not obvious and frankly this is poor UI design on the part of the cleaner developers..
First, for the app you want to add exception, the app's files in question must be present. If they
are already cleaned, there is no handle in the UI to add the exception.
In my case, I use Google MAP app generate offline maps which keep being cleaned.
I go into Google MAP to generate a offline map. Next go to Security app and run
Cleaner. You will see the files it want to clean. In the case of Google offline maps, they
are listed in the Deep Clean menu under App data. They should be there and it have
the option to "keep" them. Hold down the keep button or I think you might have to
swipe the "Keep" menu (left or right) - you will be presented with a menu to add
an exception to that particular type of file. That's it. The trick is to get to the
exception menu and it is not obvious - I think you need to swipe it or something
(holding down doesn't do anything..)
As I said, this is really poor UI design. Oh well..
BTW, it worked. I left my phone overnight and the offline maps are still there.
Usually they get blown alway after an hour or so…
why not just disable the cleaner?
It always kill the background apps I need.
@wizb98y: Thanks!
One way is to go in security and then in permission and in autostart select the apl u want to keep in background
i found this video and i think it work
video name is .. .( How To Prevent Background App Force Closing For MIUI 7.2 And Above ) you can search it in youtube
how to avoid a particular app files from getting cleared.
It may sound a little novice, but I tried to find the option, but couldn't find any.
Is there any ways to remove the "Google Search Box" on the home screen of OPX ?
Yeah. Disable the App called "google App" and you have a beautiful black screen.

Use another launcher?
Couldn't you just hold onto the bar and remove it? If not, another launcher like Nova Launcher would be able to do it.

No, unfortunately that doesn't work with the built-in bar, only ones you add yourself as widgets.
I've found an app file called base.apk in /data/app/ com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1 - could this be changed, renamed etc as a solution for this? I'm not game to try because I don't want to break anything.
I used Debloater to uninstall the Google Search App. Than its gone. If your device is not rooted you could just try to deactivate it. I am not sure if you can do it in the Apps section in the settings but Debloater does nearly the same without root. It just deactivates the selected Apps.
Be aware that if you deactivate the app "close all running apps" button will also disapear!
Hope that helps you out.
If you want to remove the google search bar and keep the Google Now Launcher and its possibilities I only know of the following solution :
- Root your phone
- Install Xposed framework
- Install Xposed GEL Settings which has an option to hide the search bar
If you don't want to keep the Google Now functionnalities then just go with another Launcher.

If you disable Google App, you can not use close all open apps X button. :crying:
