Is it possible with APP2SD application on rooted 2.1 original rom with created ext partition on SD card ? has anyone tested it?
1. Backup your SD Card
2. Download Amon Recovery
3. Format your SD Card (32Mb SWAP, 512Mb EXT2, FAT32 rest)
4. Convert EXT2 to EXT3
5. Flash new ROM with APPS2SD support
Hi, can anyone please detail out as to how to get apps2sd installed in my Xperia X10i.
I have Xperia X10i with 2.1. I have installed Z4Root and its rooted through it. How can I move all my apps to SD card. I really need my phone memory to be freedup as many apps like angry birds, tom cat, etc are above 14 meg. I am running short of space.
Please let me know if there are any other ways to get the apps moved to SD Card.
Thanks in advance.
Isn't it possible to make a symlink from flash towards your SD card, so that you can put apps on your sdcard in R2.1?

Yes I have had the same things, you have to unit your two partition there's no way to solve it. After unit your two partitions, reboot your phone, normally you will be access to your file.
After if you want you can separate again your SD card to watch if it work.
I just installed a custom rom (cyanogen) on my mini pro for the first time and would love if someone would explain how to set up app2sd.
I have previously used link2sd before flashed this rom so i don't know alot about the "official" app2sd set up.
My sd card was already partitioned to work with link2sd, however when i try to move apps to sd via the application settings menu, it says there is not enough memory on the sd partition (not true)...
Help would be appreciated!
ps. i really don't want to format my sd again 'cus i have a lot of music and stuff on it. i didn't need to delete them when i partitioned my card before
if u have your sd card partitioned with a big fat32 and a small ext. Partition and both are primary then cyanogen will do everything by itsself. the only thing you can do is make sure that your setting for where apps are installed that its on automatic

Hi!
After installing and playing around with some Roms, I found out, that
the internal memory is full.
I have found several informations about handling the internal memory thing - but I don't know which one is the right answer for Legend.
I used app2sd to install/move all apps to SD Card, but the internal memory still gets full.
Then I found a post in which one says that it's needed to make a ext partition on the SD Card to make it work right.
Can anybody tell me, what is the best way of getting more internal space?
I use the [ROM][RC3][24.07.2011] Gingerbread 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1 - which works perfect - only the memory is strange.
I also made WIPE and Factory Reset before flashing this Rom.
Thank you!

best you can use apps2ext by darktremor, i have also used it on this rom and it works
some quick instructions;
-backup your sd card manually in windows/mac/linux, because making an ext partition on your sd card will delete all your files on sd card
-use clockworkmod 3 to partition your sd card, you can chose different sizes (i use 250mb and its enough) and you need only an ext partition ,cwm3 can be found here
-restore your files back on the sd card (previously backuped)
-flash darktremor (link above)
-restart phone
that sould be it
Thank you, workes fine. Should I IDE LOW Memory option?

I have flashed DarkTremor. But how exactly do I know if it is working? I converted my SD Card from ext2 to ext3 and I still can't move applications over. My internal storage space is still less than 20MB. Can anybody offer any assistance please?
Thanks

theres an app on the market which controles darktremor's script, just search for "darktremor" on the market its free, and see what is using your internal memory and if darktremor is even working
remember, your cache is still on internal memory and your text messages etc are to
Blayo's kernel has data 2 ext support so you can run a ext partion as your internal memory. I would suggest a class 10 for it though

out of my experience and the words of TheGrammarFreak (who made the data2ext script for cyanogenmod), data2ext is faster in benchmarks but slow in real use
and a class 4 sd is the best (words of TheGrammarFreak)
so out of my experience don't use data2ext but use apps2ext
Hello!
I searched the forum but found nothnig like my question.
So, now I have 8gb sd card with 512mb ext4 and I'm running SanGingerAce Lite (newest) with darktremor a2sd. I bought a new sd card (16gb) and I'll partition it to 1gb ext4, now my question is, do I have to reinstall darktremor a2sd script or do I just put the new sd card in the phone and everything will work?
And I noticed that on 8gb sd card which I use now, I can not set dalvik cache to sd (says it hasn't got enough space). I partitioned my sd card with mini tool partition wizard in windows. Should I partition the sd card in clockworkmod?
Thank you for your help

I think.
- do like first to enable darktremor
- If you already partitioned sdcard with mini tool in windows you shouldn't partition again with CWM recovery.
- but If you not already partitioned your sdcard you can use partition sdcard in CWM recovery for alternatively.
- before partitioned sdcard, make sure you has backup your files in sdcard.

sorry for my English

Press THANK if I helped you.
U dont hv to install a2sd script again. But if u hv moved ur dalvik cache to sd, then rebuilt it on internal memory coz if u remove ur sd card ur fone will go in bootloops.
If u hv partitioned ur SD card on mini tool, then u dont hv to re-partition in CWM.

Guys I ordered a new 8gb SanDisk class 6 card for my O1 so firstly I would like to know the things i should do to shift from my current 2gb card to the new one.
What are these partitions and how can I do that??
Will I have to reflash the rom after putting the new card??
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA
If you don't know what the current partitions are, then the original card is probably one big FAT32 partition. Which is probably what the new 8GB one is. If you had partitioned it differently you would know it.
So the short answer is:
power off the phone
remove the card and mount on your PC
copy everything to a folder on your hard drive including .hidden files and dirs*
unmount the 2GB
mount the 8GB
copy back to the card
unmount the 8GB
replace in phone and boot
* you didn't mention what OS your PC is, so I will assume WinDoze

Don't get yourself confused, just copy everything in your 2gb sdcard to your computer, then unmount it. Mount your 8gb sdcard and copy back the files into the sdcard and all is done
There is no need to reflash ROM, and no need to care about partitions etc since u don't use them anyway

for SWAP google Linux Swap, but its basically a paging file for your phone in a linux environment, if you dont know what that is, google lol, but what it does is moves stuff on your Ram to this Swap thing, but android has its own methods, so Swap is only nessesary if you plan playing heavy games, and with apps like SWAPPER2, that you need in order to enable Swap on your phone, it can create a Swap file that just sits on your card, that acts like a partition without the hassle of you actually partioning anything.
EXT- they mean EXT3 or EXT4 which is a linux format, which in android case, you make your sd card into two parts, one the ordinary FAT32 part which is what you current SD card is, and another EXT part, on which with scripts, or even better LINK2SD, you move all your user apps 2, its similar to the APP2SD you use now, but it moves Dalvick cache and libraries, which APP2sd doesnt, so it saves more room on your internal phone memory, as you are actually moving the ENTIRE app to the sd card, say you want to move Angry Birds to SD using APP2SD, you will notice something like 5MB is still left on your internal memory, with LINK2SD it wont be left.
Also EXT partitions can not be seen by windows, so when you mount your phone as external usb drive, you can still use all the apps you moved to SD card, were is you wont be able to do that with APP2SD.
But yes in short EXT partition on your sd card, just splits your physical SD card into 2 virtual SD cards =)
