getting errors trying to flash vibrant to stock - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a vibrant i rooted and flashed with macnut 12 and i want to go back to stock. I have a backup image of my rom i made when i first rooted the phone but i have a problem with it when i boot into recovery and go through the steps, choose my recovery image starts fine but then get these errors in the picture below i have tried also the stock rom that was posted on the forums same issue, i didnt want to use odin if i didnt have too but can someone maybe tell what might be wrong thanks.

You have to use odin backups do not store a kernel ,trying to use that backup to go back to stock from 2.2 could and most likely will result in a soft brick
V5 custom vibrant

Oh I have no idea man I'm with tmobile never unlocked a phone before

Cant you just flash the stock 2.1 kernel and then restore?

cant you just re-flash eugenes froyo from CW?
or if you connect your phone, and boot into CW, you should be able to adb push a stock kernel/rom like Eugene's Vibrant9, and flash.

[Q] cant load clockwork with new official froyo

So i just updated to the new official and i HATE it
its slow buggy and crappy ( im even forced to keep fox news as a bookmark. Good lord)
I rooted it with oneclick and installed clockwork but no matter what i do it only boots to the samsung recovery mode. When im in there i cant run update.zip it says it cant fully verify
im at the point where i just want to throw this phone away.
1st im warning everyone to be sure they know what they are getting in to when they do the official upgrade and 2- im begging for help. What do i dooooo

odin back to 2.1 and flash a custom ROM
(like Team Whiskey's NERO ROM)

Thank you!!!!
I will give it a shot right now and I'll let you know how it goes
(THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!)
Ok
So odin flashed and i'm back to 2.1 BUT even after installing clockwork, flashing clockwork recovery & rebooting into recovery (& reinstalling packages many times) it doesnt load to clockwork, just stock recovery manager
any ideas?
WEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Ok for anyone else in my situation do NOT use one click. use the update.zip method to unlock.
Run Odin and flash it to stock 2.1, put update.zip on your internal flash memory
After that delete update.zip, install clockwork & do your thing!

[Q] Stuck in recovery mode someone please help

I just got my phone rooted and installed rom manager and every time I try to install a custom rom my phone gets stuck in recovery mode on installing cscs is there a step or something I am missing
Did you root Froyo (2.2), or Eclair (2.1)? If you were on Froyo when you rooted, Odin back to JFD, the original official ROM, or you need to modify you recovery to 3e (search around this section of the forum, its here somewhere how to do that). If you were on Eclair, I have no idea what could be wrong.
Good luck!
Sent from my rough sketch of a Vibrant on a brick.

[Q] can someone help me with clockworkmod?

Ok guys heres the deal....i recently got a samsung fascinate from my sister cause I couldnt mod my inc any more. ok so....i got the phone rooted. i have su perm. i downloaded rom manager and installed it. now heres my problem. i can preform a backup no problem, but when i go to restore that backup it boots into clockwordmod and begins and then get an error about erasing boot img. or something like that. can tell exactly if i get some help from this. also cant install custom roms like i can with my incredible. i know it can be done cause i see roms and all for this phone. can someone please please help me.
Thats because cwm3 will not perform nandroid restores on stock roms. You need to flash cwm 2.5.1.x red recovery. Its the best recovery imo for any bml(touchwiz) rom. Go over to my guide in general section and you cand find cwm 2.5 in section 2&5. Oh and ditch rom manager...manually install cwm via odin!
If you're coming from an incredible, also keep in mind you don't have to be rooted to flash roms either, you just have to have a custom recovery. There aren't really any modifications like rooting procedures, S-OFF, etc, required for rom flashing, just odin a recovery and flash your selected rom.

[Q] Help think phone is bricked

I recently rooted the phone and wanted to install a custom rom. When I tried to back up the current stock rooted rom with rom manager, someone went wrong. So I was then stuck on a flashing black screen. But I can still access Odin/download mode. But whenever I try to flash something, it flashes, but the screen just reboots back to the flashing black screen. Help please I dont know what to do
What firmware base did you start from, and what method did you use to root the phone?
Rom Manager is not recommended for use on the I777 phone. You need a custom kernel which contains ClockworkMod Recovery to back up the phone. Did you try to install ClockworkMod Recovery from Rom Manager?
Need more information before we can help. So, answer the above, and provide as much detail in addition as you can.
I almost messed my phone up by not rooting or flashing a ROM the proper (safe) way and ended up using a return to stock / unroot guide to start fresh and just follow the guides for rooting and installing ROMs from there.
