I like to install Stock (shipped) ROMs and then make my own customizations. So I have flashed the WWE Asia rom and its working very well.
But now I want to install the new Rhodium TF3D 2. It is recommended for OS builds 21000 or higher. However the latest shipped ROMs are less than 21000.
So my question is, how can I upgrade my OS build to 21000 without installing a cooked ROM? I know the answer is probably "no you can't" so my real question is, "being a person who likes to stay as close to a Stock Rom without going into cooked roms, what the best bet to achieve this?"
Thanks again in advance.

simple answer is no you can't. there are some roms out there that are very similar to the stock roms, but I don't recall them off the top of my head. look in the raphael rom section.
I strongly advise you switch to EnergyROM, its stable, DAMN fast, i was like you a week ago and then went ahead with trying a cooked ROM, believe me, you will NEVER want to go back to any stock ROM after using cooked roms, specially EnergyROM. Never!
Just flash it safely and do not forget to do a HardSPL BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!
If you do not feel secure about flashing, like i was, then 1st backup your original ROM, and then go ahead with HardSPL and flashing
Best of luck and again, believe me, stock ROM is JUNK!
Cheers
You can extract these two files and place them in your windows folder on your phone. It should allow you to use the new Rhodium apps.
I have seen it work and not work when copying the files so use at your own risk.
On ppcgeeks FayFay made a stock sprint 21028 rom if you have sprint.
Heres the link:

Thank you for your replies everyone.
I think I will go ahead with Energy 2.0 and try it out. I was almost ready to do it anyways, this gives me the final push! I just hope its as stable as a stock rom.
can some one guess whenb new rom update for hd2 is due ..........
in all honesty bud i personally dont think there will be one. there are too many new htc phones out for then to consider working on a new rom for a pretty old (in phone terms) model.......why not try a custom rom ?. im more than happy running cht and spb side by side.......
i could be wrong though.........

What is the motive to develop a new ROM for an OLD phone in the context of HTC? Are you not satisfied with the Custom ROMs?
cutom roms are gud but not as stable as official roms ,in long run.
from day 1 and rom 1.43 i guess and rom 1.48 hd2 is buggy ........
till now on 1.66 i have huge list of bugs .....
all of above i have to install a large no. of softwares on my phone ....
so i can afford to have custom roms flash and reflash and so waiting for official update ....
there are couple of test roms around so seems like update rom is about to be released soon ...

I would have to disagree with you, my phone is 500% more stable with a custom ROM , you just have to choose your custom ROM carefully ...
There are a lot of chefs that make custom "stock like" ROMs that no one can say are less or more stable because they are built from the same source(and in most cases newer) that HTC builds theirs from, just with more or less apps.
So to make a broad statement that custom ROMs are less stable or more buggy is really unfair, have you tried EVERY, custom ROM for your phone? Or did you try a couple early on , that had bugs and decide they were all that way ...
My current official rom of 1.72 is perfect.
I dont think there will be another update with the phone beign discontinued now (?)
Unless they release a final update? Doubtful.
@Watcher 64
i am not saying custom roms r not gud or unstable .............
actually custom roms do have conflicts latter on as os runs
one reason is obious that its a individual effort and offiicial one is special group production ....
if one has no problem with reformating device then he can afford custom rom ,,,
but a person like me which need hunderd of software in device can not spend a whole day for reinstall ....
the buggy roms i have talked above are the official rom not the customs ....
So.,.. im in doubt again.. Should i use Official rom and modify it with programs and themes as i want, or should i use some cooked rom ( elegancia rom is the most suitable rom for me within the cooked roms..)

Difficult question; all depends on your expectations/needs.
Personally I'm more fore a Cooked Rom reason way; it is mostly build by a personal creator, with his opinion/experience on the way how it will be better, and if you look into each Rom Builders thread you will see a lot of updates, and a lot of people recommendation and gives feedback about there opinion.
Let say that mostly a Cooked Rom is build on customers needs, and not on the thinking way of a factory.
If you ask me, tray it out, you can always changed your Rom version.
One important rule, reed always attentive the instructions, and follow them.
yes ... u are right... i found elegance rom best suiting me .. but 2 things i hate about it :
i cant get original volume control back ( instaled all possible cabs, but no )
lockscreen is damn ugly even when i restor original one, its ugly...

All depends on taste sir; unfortunately this isn't a thing I can help you out.
But if you go take a look on the theme thread's you will certainty find one you like. (There are different versions of it, but it's a little bit searching)
I don't know if you have take already a look to the Artemis Rom?
I don't have the intention to favoring/make publicity fore one Rom builder; but I have had a lot of different Rom version's and I always came back on Artemis. (But again this is personal need/opinion.)
Oh yes; it have the opportunity to switch between two different lock-screen versions (they are build in the Rom) and it have the original volume control.
In case of; you can find the link in my signature.
and whats the speed of device with artemis rom? and are there bugs ? have u tried elegancia rom ?
the only think i dont like with estetics on artemis rom are those bubble buttons for phone and menu... can that be fixed?

Okay, this are multiple questions
- Speed is Okay (quietly fast comparing some other that I have used), and smoothly.
- Bugs; I must be honest thil here I think I'm a lucky guy and didn't have found bugs on it, but I must also be honest in the past there were some version's where the battery drains fast; but on the version I'm now it's okay. (2,5 sometimes 3 days of battery life (I'm always in 3G used synchronization of whether/Mail/Twitter(if it works) every 10 minutes used 4H/day WiFi/(surfing on the net) and do about 3H of communication/day (I Know I'm phone addicted) I don't set my device on sleep; always turns on 24/24 and if I have time about 1h/day I listen the radio on it.
So I must say I'm satisfy on battery life/comparing on the needs I have.
Of course that don't mean there aren't now bugs, Sternas (the creator of Artemis Rom) do mostly each week a Rom update, I don't have always the time to follow it so I can not say if it's always smoothly. But I see if people communicate bugs/problem's he do directly a new update. Much respect fore that fore someone who build multi language Rom!
- No, I didn't tried Elegancia Rom; so I can not compare with this version.
- About the bottom buttons; he have 5 different versions of it already build in his Rom; so you can shoos between them. But it's not something fix from the Rom; in the Theme Thread you will find hundreds different versions. fore WM 6.5.X there are a lot of stuff. So you are free to install whatever you like.
I hope I gives you a fully and useful information.
In case off; just ask.
Kurt
The most impotent is to follow your needs/taste.
Ons you have discover that part its just flashing
(Impotent no matter witch Rom you decide to take is to read/follow the instructions thy mention on there thread.)
And if after all it wasn't what you expected; you just take a other one.
err, i just got artemis rom ,and whats the diffrence between official rom and artemis rom ? i dont find any diffrence..

Eh? A lot sir;
Fore the beginning it's WM 6.5.X instead of WM 6.5.
secondly you have all the latest manila/OS/packaging versions.
There are also included some useful applications.
And ...
But if you mean; "on the first look it look like Stock Rom"
Yes; it's normal; because Sternas cooked Rom on Stock Rom Philosophy.
Reason way; everyone have a different taste about Look/skin.
so you are free in that part. (but if you used it some wile; you will see the difference by experience)

Hey Koolxx, as far as I know: Dutty's ROMs are by far the closest to stock!
Its a very stable and sleek ROM with 100% Stock Philosophy. I use it since I own my HD2, it's just great. And if ecessary a very good base for further modification, skins & themes.
The last COM2 Version (Stock was COM2) is V18 and looks absolutely like stock when the RSS Reader is removed. All newer Versions are COM3 with a different Button Layout.
If you wanna check it out, here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=610634
I hope this helps,

hi, Myrixamophit.. thanks for replying. i got a problem that maybe you can help me with. the reason i need a custom ROM is cuz my locked TMOUS HD2 produces static on every call. a moderator and cool guy named, T-Macgnolia, suggests i get a custom ROM and Radio with it. the problem with ROMS from Dutty is that theyre based on 3.14. and T-Macgnolia said that stock ROMs based on 3.14 ROMs are very dependant of what radio version I use. They need a 2.15.50.14 or 2.14.50.02 radio.
if I want to use a lower radio version, I'll need a custom ROM. but they may still give problems since most recent custom ROMs are based on 3.14 stock ROMs. i still need a lower version radio to eliminate static from calls.
please let me know what you suggest.. thanks, man.
Oh in that case I suggest you flash HSPL and then flash a stock ROM prior to 3.14. You'll find it on XDA or HTC website. Then you can flash the radio of your choice. But then be warned you wont be able to get access to the 1024 mb of RAM that the T-MO HD2 has.

NRG makes a "Reference" ROM that has the latest OS, but no NRG add-ons.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8581816&postcount=3
But still is themed a lot (which I don't like ). Much, much closer to stock are:
Artemis ROM (v57 by now):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612580&page=3769
and Dutty's ROM:

I would have to disagree, I think the "reference" ROM looks almost exactly like the Stock ROM. Are you referring to the "Energy" ROM, which is right above the "Reference" one?
You're partially right, I thought of Energy ROM. But still, Reference has changed icons, wallpapers and things like that. Artemis ROM except of having additional soft added and being tweaked is 100% stock.
I agree completely with Raven. those two roms he has listed are built with stock philosophy. I personally use Dutty v18 on my HD2. its the best he's built. Energy Reference is also a good rom, but heavily customized apart from icons in Sense. Folder icons in Start Menu are also changed. You don't even get as much free ram and internal phone memory with Energy, as much as you get with Dutty. NRG cooks in quite a few applications even in Reference roms which you might not end up using ever. That said, NRG is a great chef, make no mistake.

Thanks for the update, I have never used the Reference ROM, but I always think of it when people as for a "more stock but not stock" experience.
Hey koolxx just wanted to say thanks for the mention, but like Icsaid before I am not a moderated. Although it might would be cool to be a moderator, but moderator I am not.
Also at koolxx and anand12 you can not flash a official or custom ROM that is older than a 2.07 ROM to a TMOUS HD2, maybe a 2.05 ROM. But I would only flash a 2.07 ROM tovbe safe. Yes if you found a custom ROM of a later version that did not haveca radio included you could flash it to a TMOUS but it would run like crap as like anand12 said you would not be able to use all of the 527MB of RAM the TMOUS has (notice I said RAM not ROM anand12 ). But if the ROM has a radio with it, a ROM of a version older than what I mentioned is guaranteed to brick a TMOUS..
edit: nevermind
