[LFH] No Google Apps Clear Data Button - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone.. need helps here. I tried to change my Google account. In 1.6 I usually go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Google Apps -> Click Clear data button.
But I couldn't find mine here... Please help anyone.. I think to reflash but afraid that will not solve the problem too.
I already tried to flash but not wipe all the data. But still no luck.
Thanks in advance.

Apparently there is NO Clear Button in Google Apps app like before at 1.6 . I already did factory reset my phone but still not there.
So how can I change my google account just like 1.6 did? This is weird.
Btw apparently GTalk App is VERY RELATED to Market App. So never touch it. (I wipe the Gtalk data and my market won't work anymore). Cannot find solution yet if we unintentionally touch the GTalk.
Another thing, Setup Guide app is IMPORTANT to GMail app to add another account. I removed it (Setup Guide app) before in order to optimize my phone but my Gmail app keep crashing when adding another account.

[Q]Can you change Gmail primary account without hard reset?

I think the title says it all.Btw,my phone isn't rooted.
even with root access I'm not aware of any way to do this without essentially factory resetting.
A quick google of "how to change primary google account on android" led to a few suggestions of wiping the data for all the google apps on the phone, but that would wipe all apps/emails/contacts with gmail/ etc. and many people are saying that it just factory resets after that anyway.
Isn't it just doing:-
1) Settings
2) Accounts and sync
3) Click on existing Google account under "Manage accounts"
4) Click "Remove Account" button
5) Add the new one you'd rather use.
I've not done this myself as I have the one on my phone that I use but it seems like the right place. Are there issues if this route is used?
that seems the best and fastest way but it wipes all your data.I saw another method of changing the primary email but it involves a so-called ,,google apps'' app found in manage applications and selecting ,,clear data'' but so far i couldn't find it and i believe this issue is general to all gingerbread phones
It worked for me
nice CarpathianUK I never even knew you could do that...

??? What do you mean? It doesn't wipe ALL of your data. It wipes your contact/calendar info... because that stuff is tied to your google account. It doesn't wipe your installed apps. CarpathianUK's suggestion does exactly what you are asking about.
If you want to keep your contact info, you'll have to either copy them to your SIM card (they may be there already), or re-enter them in your contact list of the google account you want to use as your primary. I think for calendar info, you have to export your google calendar from the account you're using now, and import it to the account you want to use.
As far as the "so-called google apps" app - that isn't an app that shows up in "manage applications", per se. The Google apps is .apk that installs the market and other proprietary Google apps, like the gmail app. It exists because some ROMs (like CyanogenMod) cannot legally distribute the Google apps as part of their ROM, so they must link to the .apk externally to allow users to install them.
How to change primary account in android without resetting
Worked for android 4.2.2
1. Go to settings > Applications
2. Delete all data for Gmail.
3. Force stop Gmail.
4. Got settings > accounts
5. Uncheck all Sync options
6. Remove that account!
7. Sign in to google with new account.
You're done!

Gmail crashing constantly

Ok I have read that Gmail is not a very stable app, and people often complain it crashes, but there's a limit!
I had it installed by default, then removed it after root, then decided to install it again as I needed to check my mail more often.
Every time, every damn time I do ANYTHING, Gmail crashes. You probably know the usual message "com.google.android.gm stopped unexpectedly", I get it when I boot the phone, when I enable data, when I disable data, when I open the browser, when I close the browser, when I enable google account sync, when I disable it, and of course when I try and open Gmail. The fact is, the process crashes even when I don't use Gmail (I checked and it's not in the 'being used' processes list, but when I open the browser or enable data it crashes from nowhere).
I have already tried wiping cache and data, uninstalling updates (but for some reason it uninstalls the whole app), and uninstalling/reinstalling it several times, but I only managed to make it work ONCE (then after that unique mail sent, crashes again). Is there a way to stop this madness?
I have an Xperia Mini st15i with rooted 2.3.4 and stock stuff, if it can help.
Did you take a backup of the stock Gmail app before you removed it? Did you install that one and then updated or did you install directly from the market?
In addition, have you tried clearing the data of Google Services Framework? I read somewhere that clearing its data can help resolve issues in Google apps.
I don't have a backup of the stock one, I reinstalled directly from market =(. I'll try clearing that data then =)
Don't worry if you don't have the stock Gmail.apk. If clearing the services framework doesn't work, search Google for the stock Gmail.apk of your android version, install it, then convert it to system app and link it to the market using titanium backup and then update it. If you can't find it, contact me. Post how it goes.

[fixed] "error processing purchase df-bpa-09" on market after NAND restore

hi there
i use the omega 9.1 rom for about a week or so now and it's working great.
today i've done a nand backup and flashed paranoid android, and restored my backup after data+cache+dalvik wipe.
my only problem is that i get "error processing purchase df-bpa-09" whenever i try to DL an app from the market(free\paid).
i've cleared market cache and even uninstalled updates, disable and enable my google sync , fixed permissions, changed locale to english and rebooted sevral times.
*i have also tried via WIFI\3G, and to DL from the web with my acount.
but the exact same problem persists.
is there anything i can do before flashing the rom again ?
Have you heard of google?
Remove the google account and re add it

how do one remove the google account? there is always a need for a google account in the system.
thanks!
There is always need but doesn't mean you can't remove it.
Settings| Accounts and Sync
Hit your Google account and hit remove account.
You can add it back. And problem solved.
For me clearing the data of Google service doesn't work.
Even with reboot.
Remove account works.

[Q] GMAIL 4.2 app not syncing email - CM 10.1

For some reason, I'm not getting the email "push" like i used to on the GMAIL 4.2 app. I have to manually go into the app and hit refresh to get mail.
1. I've tried clearing data / cache of the app.
2. I've tried removing the account and re-adding
3. Restrict Background Data is off
4. I've wiped / flashed a few different times on JB 4.2 (updates) and each time the same issue.
I'm on the CM 10.1 Wild Rom. I've noticed this since i came to JB 4.2 with the 4.2 GAPPS. It worked on the PACMan ROM and Gangam style as well.
Any other help / thoughts would be appreciated. I'm thinking it may be an issue with data on this rom because there has been sometimes where i cannot access web / facebook until i go on Wifi then back off (for 3g).
Did you check settings - accounts - your Google account for sync problems? I had a weird glitch where I had to wipe system and re flash the rom to fix that.
Also, Google won't sync if you have low storage space. You may need to free up some space.
That's all I can think of.

I haven't had an issue before with Sync until the 4.2 app / rom. I've flashed a few different times iwth the same issues.
I had 500mb free, i moved some apps to SD and got 1.15gb back. Any idea how much space google requires?
Update: Free space didn't help. I have no email on my phone, but 4 in my inbox since the last post. I had to manually refresh the app.
Any other thoughts?
Which gapps are you using? Or are you using a separate apk?

Using the GAPPS in the Wild for the night thread
Update: Fixed permissions, cleared data / cache then cleared dalvik / cache before launching app again. Tried uninstalling through titanium backup and installing from market.
Nothing fixed. At this point I don't think its a problem with the app, but how the phone syncs with gmail itself. May be a rom issue. Who knows at this point.

Shot in the dark. Do a full wipe and start from scratch. Back up first to go back of course. See if it works on a fresh flash with no data.
I had a couple weird things happen where the data partition messed things up. It would at least be a starting point.

Solution:
1. Remove google account
2. Force stop GMAIL app. Clear data / cache
3. Force stop Googleframework service and google account manager. Clear data / cache.
4. Reboot and re-add account.
Something was messed up with account syncs, nothing to do with GMAIL at all.

Thanks a lot!
it works for me too
Saved my free time!!
Twice this issue has occurred to me. Both times it was after upgrading the ROM using a Titanium recovery -- Google Apps would sync, but the PUSH functionality was not reliable. Also, both times Google Talk/Hangouts couldn't connect either. This time I didn't want to do another full refresh to dial in all my settings. I tried several methods, but this was the only one which solved the issue. I should note that I am using VENOM VIPER XL on an HTC One XL (EVITA). Thank you thank you NinjaPenguin for suggesting this fix. It worked perfectly.

Once I re-input my main Gmail account info, Google Play attempted to restore all of my old apps which I uninstalled previously, just like when I log in with a clean install. I didn't notice at first, so it was a little bit confusing. Just in case this might be useful info for anyone else.

One more note: I have two Google accounts (2nd one is Google Apps for Business work account). My 2nd account did not have any issues before this fix and it still works fine, but after doing this fix, all of my Google apps defaulted to my 2nd account, so I had to switch them back to my primary account after all was completed. Now everything seems to be working like it should.
