How does DLNA work with the 2.1 update? My mates TV has DLNA capability and I have no idea how to connect to it. Both his TV and my phone are on the same LAN.
try imediashare from bianor.com , but free version has few limitations ....

Just wondering if there is anything similar to AirVideo for iOS. For those of you that are unfamiliar, it streams/converts video from your PC to your phone.
Yes please, Ive tried using other alternatives but they simply dont work as well.
Well the included Allshare DLNA application will stream compatible video from a DLNA compliant server over wifi (XBMC, Xbox360, PS3, MediaCenter)....
I use XBMC on my home media server, and it streams fine to the phone. Not familiar with AirVideo, so I cannot compare how "functional" it is relative to what's built in to our phones.
there is some free ubuntu software that works with this too. VLC I think and Tomb media player is what I am using at home. You can stream videos to Tomb and and connect to tomb over the phone through allshare.
Hello pplllzzzi just saw the allshare app on the galaxy player 5.0 us version and then i tried using is somehow but it didnt work. Has anybody tried it and succesfully used it?
The Allshare app uses DLNA. I have not tried it but my understanding is that DLNA is a media sharing protocol that works over UPNP. Basically, you need to have another device on your network that is sharing media files using DLNA. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but Playstation 3 uses DLNA right? I think there are DLNA servers for linux but I'm not sure about windows... Probably need to have UPNP enabled on router too...
If I am correct, Windows 7 comes with a DLNA server. The media player in Windows 7 can share music and videos with other DLNA devices.
You can also try something like Twonky, TVersity and many other DLNA server.
Ok thanks both of you
My Desktop PC has a TV car in it and I record and watch shows through it, at the moment I can stream the recorded TV shows and other videos to my Nexus 10 using ES File Explorer.
However I am curious to find out if there is a way of streaming the live TV as it plays on my Desktop PC, over the wi-fi to my Nexus 10?
I know VLC player has some streaming capabilities with TV cards.. don't know how effective this will be?
Is their an easier way, other programs designed for this?
I do use TV Catchup app on my tablet to watch live TV sometimes but I would like a solution that is just utilizing the wi-fi and not the internet connection!
Cheers.

I would think a media extender app would be more useful. Like the how the xbox 360 app works. That would take care of the storage issue and the copy protection. Anyone know of one or a reason that wouldn't work?
1. Remote Media Center App + Remote Potato: Have not tried it and it may not be compatible with jellybean 4.2 according to the reviews.

2. XBMC will connect to hdhomerun tuners but you will need to provide a file with a list of channels for your particular cable provider.

Xbmc can connect to various backend tv servers (android app are still beta), like mediaportal tv server, and you don't need any additional files provided that you setup tv server right. Other option are using mediaportal and ampdroid app, but you have to setup mediaextender program in addition, on pc.

Hi
I tried to connect my phone with TV Sony Bravia KDL - 32W5500 by DLNA
I connect my router to TV by lan cable and connect phone to the same router by wifi.
All works good but If I want to watch movie I can't.
Music and photos show on my TV. But movies don't.
I don't know what I make wrong?
My TV have DLNA function so it should work.
Which files formats (movies) do work on DLNA?
AVI, MP4, MPG are supported formats
Hi all,
I have a network drive with my media library attached to the router (belkin 600 play). Also I have Xperia z tablet and dlna enabled Samsung TV. Router is not a dlna media server.
I need a player for android that can
1)see not just servers but all shares of the local network. (bs player can do this the way I would like to)
2) play all formats is "a must"
3) cast playback to TV (as a dlna server)
So as for now there are tons of players with different combinations of these features, but none combine them all. I wonder if bsplayer pro can play to TV, but not ready to pay 7$ to get Answer))))
Thanks
