[Q] Touch screen broke, backup suggestions? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My HD2 touch screen has become unresponsive and I have used Pim backup previously on WM devices however because I cant get into the device to back it up using that is there any PC based free software that can complete the same tasks?
Thanks,
Nick

Not free, but SOTI Pocket Controller is a must have for these kind of problems. But for first use / install you still must be able to touch the screen, so if you can manage to the touch screen work once more (for intance by pressing the display and hardware buttons) this would be a good solution.
With Pocket Controller you'll be able to control your HD2 from your PC.

download and run a program called "MyMobiler" it doesn't require the phone to do anything but be connected and you don't to touch the screen.
i used this when my screen stopped working and needed to be sent back to htc.

[Q] Backup messages

Hey guys, my HD2 touchscreen has basically become unresponsive. I used to be able to take the battery out a couple of times until it worked again but that doesn't seem to be able to work any more. The Phone still works as the hard buttons work and I'm getting messages and phone calls but I basically can't use the touch features. I was wondering if anyone had a way I could read my messages or back them up to my pc without having to use the screen? I have a couple unread ones that are pretty important that I don't want to lose by hard resetting or before I send my phone back. Any suggestions about the screen or the messages would be massively appreciated. Cheers guys.
try using MyMobiler to connect HD2 to PC/notebook, run MyMobiler & you will get screen displayed on pc & can control it via PC hardware. "MyMobiler" link is in my signature. Only problem I see is if your HD2 USB connection option is not Activesync you may not get this to work
As for backup best tool is SPB Backup or free but not so complete option is PIM Backup
Ok thanks for that, unfortunately I didn't have my phone on activesync so I've done a hard reset and it will be sent back tomorrow to resolve the screen issue. Thanks for your help anyway

Save SMS without touchscreen

So, a customer came in with a bit of an predicament.
Needs SMS saved, but the touch screen is completely dead.
All the physical buttons work and the soft back button, otherwise the entire touch part is broken.
Any way I can pull this from ADB?
I don't think so, but try to install http://androidwebkey.com/ to the phone and run it to allow you to use the mouse to control the phone
I use My Phone Explorer a lot. It`s at www.fjsoft.at and is very handy for doing SMS`s (including backing them up in a .text file and others) through the PC.
The phone does have to USB Debugging enabled though.
I don't think so but try to install androidwebkey] to the phone and run it to allow you to use the mouse to control the phone,..

[Q] How to control an Acer Z160 with broken touch screen from pc? PLEASE?

Hello everybody! I'll try and keep things as short as possible.
We bought an Acer z160 (Android 4.2.2) for my wife, and after a month, a small scratch on the touch screen gradually grew into a crack that completely crossed the screen from one side to another half way down. The touch screen only works on the top half. The replacement was too expensive, so we bought another different phone.
I want to play and reuse the phone for other things that don't require a touch screen (ip camera, gps tracker, file server, internet modem, whatever...). But they all require me to be able to install software on the phone, and I can't because the screen doesn't work. I have tried to control the device from my pc to no avail. The closest I got was with [email protected], where all I got was a the phone's screen on my computer but with no control over it whatsoever. All the solutions I find on the internet require installing something on the phone. Tilting the screen does not give me the possibility nor flexibilty to do everything I need. I have followed quite a few tutorials, and tried many programs on my windows 7 , and I'm going to have to reinstall it cause I've fillied it with so much crap it's certainly infected with something, my antivirus has stopped working and so has windows update!:silly:.
I think I have succesfully rooted the phone with vroot, but can't verify it though. And I think I have full access to the android filesystem using mymobiler (not sure though).
I would like to control my phone from the computer, preferably from linux, but windows will do fine. How can I do it?
Thank you.

Disable touchscreen while allowing mouse

I declined paying to repair my ZU cracked screen and I now want to use the device as a media center, I have bluetooth input devices too. The problem im facing is ghost touches. Sometimes the cracked glass presses on the touchscreen and I cant use the phone. Ive tried "touch blocker" from the play store and it blocks my mouse clicks too... So its of no use. Is there any other way to disable physical touches while allowing external keyboard/mouse?
I really prefer not to open the phone to unplug the touchscreen, but if there really is no other option, can anyone guide me with the process?
Thanks.

Hello,
Download an app called "screen standby" and in the extras menu disable touchscreen. You should now be able to use your device as a media centre.

Screen android phone broken, no USB debugging on, mouse working no visual

Hi guys,
My screen recently died. Before fixing it at a specialized shop, I want to retrieve the data from the phone. Sadly the phone is pattern-locked and until I unlock it I can't access the data when I connect it to my PC. The screen is essentially dead. The image is almost totally black except for small layer in left top corner and the touch sensor is unresponsive, but other than that the phone works and receives notifications and so on.
USB Debugging mode isn't active on the phone and thus I can't replicate the screen of the phone on my PC through software alone, when I connect it via micro-USB. I also didn't think of this problem in advance and I'm not registered on Sony's FindMyMobile or any similar apps.
I tried using a HDMI-MHL adapter and I confirmed that the phone is indeed working because I'm able to get the phone screen's image on my TV. The problem is I can't actually interact with the phone because as I said earlier the touch sensor is not working.
The HDMI-MHL adapter I've used also seems to have a micro-USB port but that seems to work for power only. If I connect a USB-OTG cable on it and connect a USB mouse to it I get image but no mouse. If I connect the USB-OTG and the mouse, alone, I get a mouse cursor but I can't see what I'm doing (phone vibrates as I 'try' and draw the unlock-pattern blindly).
So, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact screen is dead, I wanna connect my Xperia to my TV via HDMI AND use a mouse at the same time to control my phone. Is this possible_
I also thought of another option... go to recovery mode and flash a zip that removes lock. I thought of trying step by step (switch keyboard and TV al the time just to get at point where I can find zip file and flash it). Unfortunately in recovery mode the phone does not allow to stream to TV. It only works when phone is after SIM lock.
Two additions: by removing and re-installing ADB on my laptop my phone is unauthorized. Only a matter of clicking on yes/allow on phone but that's not possible and TWRP 3.1.1-0 is installed.
Anyone any clue? I know I ask a lot but I'm searching the internetz for 2 days now and I'm devistated.
THNX a great bunch!!!
ciao

PS Copy/paste a part of the text from a guy from the internet who had exactly the same problem as I did but his thread ended a few months ago without result.
Just 30 minutes after my post I magically had all the dots correct and that blind!!! So turned on USB debugging and got rid of lock pattern. It was a nice three days of my life Guess there was no solution than getting lucky like I did or screen replacement and getting all your data removed.
ciao
