Using Launcher Pro, I can rotate 180 degrees... but not lock it there.
Crazy that the viewing angle really is better @ 180 degrees.
I'm pretty sure this thing was assembled "upside down". When I play Pocket Gods, the orientation of the game has the tablet upside down with no way to change it. Add that to the fact that the viewing angle is significantly better that way I'm more inclined to believe that this was assembled the wrong way.
Let me know if you found a way! It looks SO much better upside down.
Use Orientation Lock/Unlock app from the market.
it's not a free app though.

Anyone got a link to software/freeware that allows the display on the XDA to be viewed in landscape and portrait modes?
The only freeware that can do that would be the Pocketop driver (www.pocketop.net), but as of now it doesn't work on the XDA. It should do by the end of this month.
On Handango or PocketGear you'll be able to find Nyditot Virtual Display and JSLandscape, both of which will do what you need and a whole lot more. I prefer Nyditot, but I think they both have trials so give them a shot.
I tried the latest version of Nyditot (3.22) and it works quite well on an XDA. If only the apps I have were adjustable to landscape...
I gotta ask, why would you want to change from portrait to landscape? I tried Nyditot a while back when I was just experimenting, and it does work, but I asked myself whether I could really be bothered with flicking between some applications in landscape mode and the most of the rest in portrait!
Not meaning to ***** or anything but why??

Max
Probably because my eyes are not on top of each other but rather side to side. I don't see anyone marketing any "Tall-Screens", don't think they would sell very well.
tablet pc's have the same tallscrean thing going
maybe it's more ergonomic when you are standing up and holding
the devices or something
I use nyditot for terminal services and webbrowsing, with compression (480 x 360 is prettly legible). If only there was a PPC/PE device with a 640x480 screen like the new Clios. I have very good eyesight btw
I want to paint my living room. I am painting it white maybe but I am not sure where the best place to get that paint is, do I need primer? How long will it take to paint it and then when is it dry? What Kind of brushes should I use? How many people should help, if any, and any other information possible would be great help.
Anybody messed around with full 360 rotation? I love the phone, but the buttons on the bottom are just a little bit stretchy for my thumb with how i hold the phone, i was thinking maybe if i flip it upside down with buttons on top it would feel better.
Curious if anybody has had any experience with enabling this before?
It comes on 2.2. So, you will have to wait a while.
I tried it out on the D1, and kept losing track of where the buttons were.
There may be a way to make it work on 2.1, but I haven't seen it.
Am I missing something here?
360 rotation just means you're at the same place.

lol true.... but if your phone can rotate 360 it means it can do 0, 90, 180, 270
Ill look into it.... I dont know what makes the rotation, ill ask around.

Exactly.
My phone does 0, 90, 270. Just no 180.
I think enabling 180 can make the thing screwy.
I think OptedOblivion did the 360 rotation for Cyanogen. He might be able to help with that.

Yes, you are missing something. The other 359 degrees.
wow. mind blowing. imagine the phone, in realtime, always keeping the screen face up no matter what angle you held it at. like if i want to hold the phone at 27 degrees it would adjust so it was still aligned. woah.
I can't wait for this to happen, seeing as I could finally make a custom car dock in which I can place the phone down onto the charger plug. Why they put the charger on top I have no idea

For a circular device, that would be a must-have feature.
...for a rectangular device...not so much.
lol. true enough phoenixpath. just thought it would look really cool.

Tell you what just occurred to me though. Say you brought up a web page, it fits the screen. Today you double tap or pinch zoom to a certain part of the page. Now it fits and words wrap, great!
What if at a certain zoom level, or by a gesture or hot button, instead of having to zoom back out or scroll around, the virtual document remained still, but your phone would become like a virtual document magnifying glass......so instead of having to zoom all around to read the page, you can "fix" the document and simply move the reader around......i dunno if I am explaining this right...lol
I was wondering if anyone had attempted to open up the gtab and physically rotated the screen 180 degrees. The viewing angles seem to be better this way, but it would be nice if you could permanently rotate it rather than holding it upside down.
The connector wont allow it to be turned around
Is it a ribbon connector? It seems like an extender/adapter could be used to fix this.

I am having issues with my touch screen not taking my input when in landscape. It works when I change to portrait and usually works when switching back to landscape but then stops again. I've noticed this playing angry birds and browsing in IE. Anything I can do to correct this?
edit: I think I found my issue. If i'm touching the bottom area where the capacitive buttons are the screen won't respond. Is this normal?
I find the sensitivity of the screen is less than the Focus. The Focus suffered from bad touch sensitivity if you didn't hold it (like laying it on the bed). If they can get full registry access to the phone, I'll bet the sensitivity is adjustable.
Sent from my PI39100 using Board Express
others have mentioned that touching the soft keys even slightly makes the rest of the screen unresponsive.
I don't know why capacitive buttons are so popular... they might be 'cool' but... hardbuttons aren't accidentally activated, they don't mess up the screen and they provide REAL tactile feedback.
Plus you can search for and use hardbuttons when they are out of sight. With my TV and BD player I have to put my face to the buttons with a magnifying class to see the icons because feeling them activates them and they have no backlights :/

They're popular because presumably they cost less than actual buttons, easier to manufacture, and are less likely to break or need maintainence.
The screen's glass is already set up to be capacitive, so extending that down to the "button" area requires virtually no additional cost - they only need 3 tiny LED's underneath, rather than housing full mechanical buttons, with a separate plastic overlays ontop on the buttons.
Is there a way to change the angle needed to activate tilt-to-wake? I've had a G Watch for a day now, and I'm already getting shoulder issues from trying to activate the screen. I just can't twist my wrist far enough. The watch seems to work best when I wear it on the side of my wrist, which is a really awkward way of wearing it. Right now I either have to wave around like a madman with the risk that I'll punch someone, or I have to rotate it with my other hand, which defeats the entire purpose of wrist gestures.
In short, this is just kind of ****. Is there a way to set the rotation needed to activate the watch?
I don't think it s possible. Even for me the angle of rotation is too high and I have to move the entire shoulder and arm to wake it .... I can tilt to wake it almost with no problem but gestures to scroll open and go back makes me look like a fool
