Help with a2sd please. - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have cm6.1 and have moved ever app possible except for beautiful widgets and a couple other widgets but I still only have 30ish mb of internal memory. Will a2sd allow me to install everything to the SD card. I haven't read much about it because I assumed the a2sd integrated in cm6 was as good as it get but i recently read a post where someone had about 70 apps installed and 160mb of internal memory left. If there is any method better than a2sd that would allow this can someone please point me in the right direction or give me some fairly detailed instructions on the whole process of setting it up.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Internal memory almost full, how to start apps2sd

running Aloysius V11 maps and my internal memory is getting full. How do I start using the apps2sd and get my memory space back? is apps2sd an app that i can download from th market? I searched and came up with nothing in the market.
No idea, it's easier to just flash a froyo ROM that has it automatically set up lol
i think the rom i'm currently using has apps2sd but i cant find anything that turns it on.
You have to partition your drive or some ****. I dono man.
KaosFroyo has it set-up, no partition needed.
Thanks guys. I'm not looking to change roms as Aloysius has been stable and fast enough for my needs.
I'm not looking for advice on other roms, just some pointers on how to get apps2sd going within this rom.
If its an actual app you buy or if only a custom feature in certain roms. In the description for the Aloysius roms it lists apps2sd so it does work or is included - just need some help on how to get it started.
I followed this script and it worked perfect for me.

I know it's a lot to read, but I suggest reading the whole thread cause there's a lot of troubleshooting people did, and I think I remember reading somewhere in there about some people running it on Aloysius. I am personally running EE 3.0.
Hope this helps.
After reading through the Aloysius thread for a while, admittedly not a long while, it appears people are getting mixed results with a2sd. If you search the thread with "app2sd" there are some things people have tried. Some work, some don't.
I don't have Aloysius, and have no intentions of trying, but feel free to dig through 3 pages of results.
in the amon_ra recovery menu you it can partition your card for you (make sure you back up your files to your pc first), then you should have no problem running an apps2sd script like the Darktremor a2sd one posted above.
The other posters are right though, it's much much easier to use apps2sd with a froyo rom, as you just choose "send app to sd card" in the settings menu.

Mixed lemon and darktremor thanks for the tips and I will def read up on that thread.
A2SD is a scam. I can't get it to work on my phone, it looks like it's working and yet I only have 17MB of memory. People claim to have all sorts of memory (115MB - 150MB) free when they get A2SD working, but the most I have had is 80MB. A week later, all that space is out the window, and I haven't downloaded any more apps, so where did it all go, huh?

Is your dalvik-cache also being moved to SD? That's where all the memory is tied up. I had about 40MB free before I finally picked up a Class 4 card and moved the cache over. Now I'm at almost 140MB free, and it never changes.

Any noticeable difference in performance after the memory freed up?

[Q] Galaxy S II Storage Partitions: Can They Be Changed?

My GS2 came with 1.97GB of "System Storage" and 11.5 GB of "USB Storage"
I don't know if that's how everyone's has been set up, but I find that 1.97 GB to be a little too small, and would love to merge it and the rest of the USB Storage so that I just have two storage areas. The 1.97, at the moment, is where all applications are default installed, and the 11.5GB is where music and videos that I copy over through Kies goes.
Is there anyway to merge the two so I'm not so limited with the 1.97?
Thanks!
1.97 GB is way more than anyone should need for internal. My Evo has ~320MB left and that's about as good as it gets, with my 8GB SD card for music and whatnot.
But yes there should also be a way to change the partition sizes. Or just use A2SD to move all the apps you need to your SD card and that could help, but also sacrifices speed of the apps.

Oh, I didn't know this was the wrong forum to post in, I just had a question, so I went to the Q and A forum. Sorry if it should have been somewhere else. I'm just looking for a way to merge the two internal storages.
If you'll let me know where I should ask this question, I'll ask it there instead.
Thanks

[Q] Move apps to sd - Only half of the app actually goes to the sd card?

Is it normal that on my p500 non rooted stock rom 2.2 (froyo), when i pick the "move to sd" option (on the applications>manage applications thing, you know), a small part of the app stays on my phone.
Like, if a 3mb app was installed on my telephone's internal memory(it would say like "app size : 3.00 mb" or something, and I move it to the sd card, then it would say like " app size : 959k" or something like that.
And i think these 959k is the part that stays on the internal memory, and the rest goes to the sd card.
Am I right, and if I am, can someone please tell me how to move the FULL app to the sd card??!!
Move full app is not possible, there always some of app's files will stay in internal memory.

Thanks, but is there a way to move the full app to the sd card ?(even if I have to root my lg) Thanks in advance
Not unless you use a method like link2sd.

Even link2sd will leave some little bit of data on the phone's memory. I think you are looking for Darktremor's apps2sd. It works like a dream But has long boot times.

itll take more time to start up your phone
My phone boots up in like 4 minutes with apps2sd. 1 minute 30 seconds with link2sd. I think it has something to do with the Dalvik cache. Both work very well though. I found myself installing too much stuff that I wasn't even using...
If you really want lots of space for all your apps, apps2sd is the way to go. Just make sure to have a fast memory card (at least class 4).

Moving apps to SD

On Android you have the option of moving the apps to the SD card which will obviously create more internal memory.
But are there any disadvantages in this, will it slow the apps/phone down?
Well, that is a good question
The APPS may work a bit slow - it depends on the class (quality class) of your SD card - if u have a fast one it won't be visible and u won't notice the apps are on your SD.
I don't know the exact SD card class numbers - i suggest googling it never did pay attention on it, because it wasnt my #1 priority
Hope i have helped
Cheers.
Thanks, any other views on this topic?
The class of the SD card is a measure for bandwidth, I don't think android apps require a lot of bandwidth, moreover when you have opened an app it will be stored in the internal RAM, so at that point it shouldn't be an issue anymore. Of course, opening an app can be slower, but I think that access time is a larger bottleneck than the read/write speed in that case. Personally I never noticed it.
for some reason some of the apps are a little more buggy when they are on the SD so just try it and see if it works well for you. If it does there is so big downside of having it on there
Stumbled across this thread. Figured I'd share some info. First off some info on A2SD. Since it would take a lot of space I'll give you some links. You can look HERE for info on what A2SD is, and how it works. You can also check THIS thread for Darktremor's A2SD Beta info. Then there's A2SDGUI (GUI for Darktremor A2SD) which looks interesting. Here is some great information on SD Cards, how they work, and the Classes. Hope that helps shed some light on things .

There A2SD EXT methods, i was asking about the native Android move to SD option.
I havent got any problems with any apps whenever I move them to the SD Card. I havent moven apps which doesn't allow me to put it on the SD Card. But if you do move an app onto the SD Card, widgets for that app won't work unless the developers released an widget app for that app. For example, I moved Evernote to the SD Card and I couldn't use the widgets but the developers released another app which allowed me to use the widgets.
Hope this helps

Yes. Longer start up and shut down times because the apps on the sd card has to be monted and unmounted respectively on each boot.

HNeed Help In Understanding App Info

Hello,
I have been using android for a long time now like most of us here. I am presently using a AndroidOne phone. Sadly this phone has only 4 GB internal out of which roughly 2.5 GB is available for apps. After updating to Lollipop 5.1, I had to face the uphill task of maintaining the already severely low internal storage. So I started cleaning app caches, cleaning data and stuff. However I would really appreciate if some one will explain the App Info from Android Settings to me. In the storage section, Total and App are pretty clear and straight forward. What are USB Storage app, Data and SD Card.? And most importantly on what storage is this Data stored? I have attached an example screenshot. That specific app in on the SD card. Can someone please guide me with this?
Thanks
