New Problem with Froyo 2.2 jk6 - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Now I verified this by going back to Eclair 2.1 ji6 a few times and have confirmed that the mic sensitivity is very low ONLY when you record a video and when you use VOICE recorder. Otherwise phone conversations the other party has had no problem hearing my voice.
Can other members try this please?
the mic sensitivity is normal when I downgrade to Eclair 2.1.

its not a question Bro, its an observation. I think its in the right section due to the fact that TW brought this rom here.
cheers.

Yeah, I can attest to this. I tried messing with service mode, the video recording with audio is better but still can't fix the volume on mic input.

I have the same problem, running macnut R13 + jk6 modem.
I had no problems on eclair 2.1
the mic is fine during phone calls but on apps that needs the mic such as voice commands (vlingo) or games such as talking tom it simply does not work well. you need to be very very close to the mic and it is still too weak

You're right about the reduced mic sensitivity on 2.2 roms. I recorded a video this post weekend and noticed how low the volume was.

Not to reign in on your parade, but that is a question and it belongs in the Q&A section, not the development section. And if in fact it is a TeamWhiskey Rom, you could have posted this in that specific rom thread.

Hi,
The developers should be made aware of this.
This is a defect in the 2.2 roms.
I have also verified this on the unofficial 2.2. tmobile eugene port.
Recording volume with the mike is very low and unacceptable.
This will affect voice input functions as well as video recording.
Good find .
Hopefully it be be addressed.
And yes. it's not a question but a developmental problem and spans several roms so it does belong here.

My suggestion is not to touch your phone. If you don't have the knowhow to do these things to your phone, then don't. A $500 paperweight sucks ass. Trust me, I've been there and done that.
Go to Teamwhiskey.com and read the guides section. That should get you going....

I agree completely. If he's already aware there's a lot of different froyo roms on xda, then he's probably been in the threads and looked around. If he doesn't posess the general computer knowledge to be able to do it by the information already provided in this forum, I would also recommend not doing it.

If they change the architectural software structure of Ice-cream(2.4 or 3.1?) then no it would not upgrade, But I would bet a dollar the phone will be able to handle at least 2 or 3 more upgrades before software and apps will require a larger ram and duo core cpu
BTW way to the other posting....... froyo, gingerbread etc are the code names they gave each version of android....... 2.2, 2.3 etc

Well either you or he was confused. There's more than a couple Gingerbread themes out there, but thats all they are is themes. There is one EXPERIMENTAL Gingerbread build out, but as such, its not stable and could not be used daily.
Its being worked on, but Samsung has not even released the 2.2 source yet. When that happens, maybe some doors will be opened in that direction.
But as of right now there is NO stable Gingerbread rom, no matter what your friend told you. If there was you would have gotten actual help, instead of some of the less serious responses.

There are new problems now though, one of which is texts sent to random (read:wrong) recipients. Imagine typing out a text to your wife, pressing Send, and your buddy, instructor, or *gasp* girlfriend gets it instead. VZW says? A bug. lol

This texting bug is actually an android bug. I've watched it happen several times. No change it was a simple mistake either. I had it on das bamf and cm7 a while back. It was happening with handcent and maybe even the stock app. It got bad enough that I didn't trust my phone. since I switched to gosms it hasn't happened once. I text probably 100 times a day, so I noticed it often before making the switch.

Calling all Galnet miui users

Guys I really need some help pls! I'm not new to androids and have pretty decent knowledge of flashing and the general consensus on how androids work. However this is my first sgs2 phone trying to install galnet miui. I have failed consistently, as I have probably done 20 full wipes and installs of this rom and just can't get it right. I don't know where else to look and ask. I really like this rom and here are my problems. Everything installs just fine. Boots up fine. I just cannot make any phone calls!! I can rcv calls but when I answer it they cannot hear me. I've tried everything from different kernels to every different way of installing. I tried flashing the radios but it'll give me an error when I try to flash. When I flash a new radio with the miui.us fom it works fine. Also the 4 buttons on the phone only the home button and menu button seem to work. I cannot use the back button and search button. Are these purposely disabled? Please guys I'm begging you haha it's so damn annoying. I've posted on the galnet forums and it's dead over there. So if anyone can give me some insight. By the way I'm coming from an atrix 4g that was running oc/uv kernel at 1.4 ghz and cm7 and the sgs2 is just miles ahead! Thanks again guys (for listening to my whining in) advance.
By the way am i downloading the correct version of the rom? On their website I'm downloading sgs2 i900. I don't see anything else for our I777. I figured this would work as I saw the locked thread in here for the galnet rom.
Galnet was banned from XDA for a variety of reasons.
You'll have better luck finding an answer on their forums, they roms are not supported on XDA any longer.

Multiple rule violations - warez (GPL violations), claiming others' work as their own, apparently using XDA for commercial purposes, other things

Messaging

Hi there
I am struggling to find some info regarding the stock messaging app. Does this app lag scrolling up and down through conversations? This is the problem I have, you can see the screen tearing while you scroll slowly up and down, which is horrible and no matter if I try to do a factory reset (using kies or flashing firmware with odin) the issue will not get fixed. I think Jellybean has broken this app.
Does everyone think the same? I am 90 percent sure that this did not happen on ICS? please heeelllpp

I do agree that the ICS messaging works faster than that of JB's. It is a stock thing, so I believe there is no fix yet? Tsk
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
So you did notice the ics app faster and smoother. I was really confused because there were 2 updates and I couldn't find out which one messed it up. I don't think there is a fix yet. I only asked Samsung and they told me to call the S3 support but I didn't.
I do believe there are going to be more updates for the S3 even another version of Android which hopefully will fix it. I did ask a few people but theu said their messaging app worked fine but I think they didn't notice what I meant or they wouldn't care too much.
You can install jkays framework on stock odexed Rom and then with his deluxe settings app (paid) you can lock dialler and contacts in memory,.......regarding the tearing whilst scrolling, this nearly always happens when you have an accumulation of too many messages I keep my inbox pretty clean and never experience any tearing
