Hello guys,
I managed to installed HTC IME on my Tattoo running SPQRom Froyo 2.2.1.
You can download it and test it in other roms if you want.
Get it from here:
HTC IME
Instructions:
First install Clicker.apk
Then install HTC_IME.apk.
I found it very useful because I am using T9 and Keypad for writing.
Have Fun.
TESTED: SPQRom 0.6 / 0.7, nFinityROM v1.01 , KalimochoAz HTCMania 9.11
is it downloadable without a registration? or the problem is not in me?
Yep you can download it without registering.
ah yes, it works now. yesterday the countdown seconds wouldn't work
Thanks a lot for this, I prefer it to the stock keyboard, works great. Cheers dude
That's good. Can you please write which Rom are you using?
I will create a list of the supported Roms in the first post.

I am using the 2.2.1 FroYo nFinityROM, currently version 1.01, so it should be good with the newer ones.
Does this keyboard have Italian dictionary??
Different languages
Hi, how can I add Spanish dictionary to the languages?
Not working on SPQRom 0.7
I am sure that is working in SPQRom 0.7. I am using it right now. First install Clicker.apk and then install HTC_IME.
It will work. I am using it since version 0.5.
working in KalimochoAz HTCMania 9.11 rom, thanks!!

Yea, I noticed the same thing. Too bad.
The other HTC_IME/Clicker that works for higher resolutions got "all" languages.
I think that the non engilsh language is selected automatic according to device's active locale. But needed to rotate device to landscape first to be available the native language.
This works for me everytime, but I didn't test the app from this thread's link(maybe is the same though)

Hi all,
I have been looking around for long time and trying different solutions to add Arabic (BIDI or RTL) support to my vibrant but with no luck.the only thing is just adding the font so instead of showing squares it shows the letters but disconnected and in reverse order.
Have any one been successful in porting the language support from the i9000 middle eastern rom? I tried but my phone will not boot and I don't know how to access the log at that stage to see why or what is missing.
Do we have a better built in support in froyo? Or it is the same?
I have seen many threads in many forums but most are not active for long time.
Any help will be appreciated.

I managed to make an arabic 2.1 rom. Everything works fine with exception of GPS. Just do not know how to create a flashable zip file for the rom to post it.

Can you provide us with that script or show where to get it from? maybe we can update it to work with the new rom.
There is an update rom running froyo 2.2 for Orange (I9000JHJP4) and has support for Arabic and hebrew, i tried to get some files from it to my 2.1 but did not work, i know i am missing more files that should be also integrated. that rom is for the international Galaxy S i9000 so it might not work with Vibrant
you can find the rom at samfirmware.com

I tested this patch without any changes and got the same error
I am trying to understand this java disassembled code to be able to fix it for the new ROM.
The patch already cover the full range of unicode characters for hebrew and arabic + other rtl languages.
Can anyone help me with generally understanding the disassembled code or provide links to some resources that can help?

Look at this thread, one guy is trying the same thing and he is getting the same error, and i think he got a work around in a hebrew site which i could not understand so you might find the solution to your problem there http://iandroid.co.il/forum/topic5657.html but for me I still need the Arabic character reshaping so RTL alone is not enough
And this is the link to the XDA thread where they discuss the same issues, and it seems that they are about to integrate the BIDI solution into the AOSP and CM

Wouldn't it be eaiser if you backed up all your stuff and flashed 1.6? It would give you all those keyboards.
Or you could find a 1.6 rom and just look through it till you found the keyboards

Hi, I'm looking to have an arabic support to my phone Optimus One P500 , please help me with that .
thanks
You best way to go is an original ROM with arabic support. The following are the links to download:
For Android 2.2
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/AIRQBK/V10b_00/V10B_00.kdz
For Android 2.2.1
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/AIRQBK/V10c_00/V10C_00.kdz
For Android 2.2.1
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500/AIRQBK/V10d_00/V10D_00.kdz
All of those three ROM have full support for arabic with RTL support and they work with all applications (containing arabic language) with no problems. The letters are connected as well.
If you do not know how to install a KDZ ROM please refer to this page starting from step 2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875881
or this one also works.
http://android.modaco.com/content/l...modaco-com/321895/faq-gt540-reference-thread/
I recommend to use the 2.2 because it can be rooted.
I use Smart Keyboard Pro..its very good in arabic and its dictionary is excellent.
Hope it helps.
thank you so so so much DR.Alani
Anytime my friend. Tell me how it goes.
I'm sorry, it took me some time to respond , it went excellent .
now my phone supoorts and writes arabic.
thanks a lot .
Thats good to know.
Apparently v10d is not 2.2.2. It is actually 2.2.1 too. I edited the previous post.

Guys, I just bought this mobile too and to my surprise it doesn't support Arabic, I need both Arabic and Persian languages, I installed smart keyboard that lets me write Persian/Arabic but they are not connected!!! although my older GT540 fully supports Arabic/Persian using smart keyboard and in web browser too!
My p500's android version is 2.2 and v10c
Is there any solution to this?
Thanks in advance
Try Multiling Keyboard. Has lots of weird mess which looks like Arabic & Co. Obviously I have not tested it.

Multiling does provide connected arabic letters. But it does not connect what is already written like web pages. Opera Mini browser connects them.
I recommend you flash another rom with full arabic support. Btw, V10e (2.2.2) with arabic support was released about a month ago. I can get you the link if you r interested.

I know the installer sucks but there is no other way. you have to get the latest version installed through it and then get it licensed otherwise it will not work at all. and you also need to install the full version which is greater than 10mb.

There are various modded versions of swype floating in the web. I have a slimmed down version of Swype 3.6xxx with only Polish and English languages which takes only about 2.8 mb and not 10 + MB. Use google or maybe some local android forums in your language.
Actually a while ago you could get all the modded versions of swype from xda but then Swype people started moaning and posting links to swype was banned on xda.

You need to uninstall previous Swype versions in case you want to update or when the licensing breaks. Then use the Swype Installer again.
Hardware Keyboard LayoutsThis thread has as many as possible hardware keyboard layouts guaranteed to work on all Eclair,Froyo,Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs
Tip : If you experience any kinds of problems, especially qwertz (thanks Resync ) Try disabling Android Keyboard (these zips are meant to work in Suquash Input Method (or Sony Ericsson).Flash the zip from here (only for Gingerbread) http://www.mediafire.com/?en33uttf3kckoys

Keyboards made : French,Arabic (Azerty),Chinese,Greek(latin-on-greek),Japanese(I think),Thai,Brazillian/Portuguese,English Qwerty,Qwerty Norway ,Qwerty Sweden/Finland,Qwertz German,Cyrillic
They are flashable via ClockWorkMod Recovery.Everyone can use them.If you are using this in any ROM/theme pack/language transformation pack or whatever you are free to use them but you only have to do this little thing : refer to this thread!I edited the keyprint.xml and I made the zips. Also, the links are mine.I created a thread on the themes and apps section but not many people saw it.Then I thought that moving them to a new redesigned thread would be better for me to get more Thanks...and for people to see
