i dont think that backs up everything though.
i want it to back up to a PC or something aswell, as the SD card is what i want to format

As far as i know MyBackUp Pro creates .zip files on the sd card.
So after the backup we could transfer this .zip files to the PC and "format" the phone?

Doas Titanium also backup my contacts?

Yes. You could backup everything to sd card, copy backup folder to pc and wipe everything. Then reflash rom, copy the backup folder back to sd card and reinstall titanium. Titanium is the most complete backup you'll get on your x10 till bootloader is cracked. Another method would be the custom recovery, but i didn't try it out.

Can't you just use root explorer to copy every single system file to your SD, then copy the backup from SD to your PC....???? I would imagine it would be as easy as copying all the files/folders in your system root folder.

MyBackup sucks dogs bollocks - it's no better than the one included...
I backed up using the included one and Titanium, and did a restore from both - seemed to get everything back on as required...

For Apps backup.. you can use File Expert. It backed up all apks installed to sd card...
Contacts u can sync with Sony Ericcson. For messages i dont have an idea...

Titanium Backup Question

When i back up all my apps with Titanium Backup (free version) if i was to format my SD Card when im copying another build onto my phone what happens then, do i just to to the Android Market, download Titanium Backup and all my apps will be there or can someone tell me how it works.
Cheers
First copy the TitaniumBackup folder from your SDcard to your PC. That's where all the backups are stored unless you've sync'd them with dropbox.
Then after you've formatted your card copy it back so Titanium can restore them.

the free version from what i can see doesn't give you the option of saving your backups to an SD card unless ive missed something?
anyone...?
Just think about it for a second. If TB doesn't save the backups to the SD then where does it save?
Anyway, do you're desired backup option, then copy the folder called 'TitaniumBackup' in your sd to your pc. Then copy the folder again to your sd after formatting or whatever.

Titanium backup, no matter what version you're using, does backup to SD. Specifically it backs up to /sdcard/TitaniumBackup/
So what you need to do is run Ti Backup batch backup of whatever you choose (userapps or system settings or both), copy /sdcard/TitaniumBackup/ to your computer, format the SD card, flash new ROM, go to market and install Ti Backup, then open it and do a batch restore. If you flashed a new ROM it's not recommended to restore system settings as they might conflict, but userapps (which consists of just apps you got from the market) should be fine.

Titanium Backup - Restoring apps with another phone

I went from HTC Desire to this Motorola Attic bad boy.
There are a few apps with data I want copied over, which I backed up on my Desire. I rooted my Atrix. But it doesn't see my backups.
Is it even possible to do this, or are my backups only compatible with the Desire, or what?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
i brought my backups from my captivate over to my atrix. some of the apps didnt carry over the settings, but that wasnt a big deal. did you copy your titaniumbackup folder from the old phone to the new phone?
When you copy the backup files to the new phone, there is an option in titanium to reset the application...this will find the files and allow backup
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Yep. You could also get the pro version that allows you dropbox backup.

Very confused. I am having the same problem. I got a new phone today (upgraded from G2 to G2x)
I inserted my old SD card, rooted my phone, installed TBUpro (latest from market,) went to backup/restore and there are no backups there. I tried restoring all apps and data anyway. It said it was successful. But nothing changed on my new phone. (Of course I rebooted and verified the SD card is being read.)
All of my backups are in the default folder of the SD card where TBUpro placed them (with the old phone.) I'm supposed to copy them somewhere else?
For now I've given up and am having App Brain reinstall all of my apps, and Google restore my personal info. I'd still love to have my system settings and whatnot restored by TBU though. WTF?

I just saw that too..
I brought most of my apps over from my MT3GS with TiBu. The only one I really had an issue with was Angry Birds, no matter how I restored it, it would force close. I'm thinking some kind of architecture difference.
Also watch what cross platform system settings you restore. I finally figured out restoring my old wireless ap info is what b0rked my wifi.
Hi... the phone needs to be rooted, but also needs sideloading enabled.

Yes, or change the backup location by pressing menu, preferences. Use detect to locate sdcard-ext this is the removable micro sd card.

This did it. You need to go inside Titanium Backup. hit MENU key -> Backup Folder location --> Hit the DETECT! button. Then choose the desired location (it will you all the backup locations available.)

Cleaning up the sdcard?

Even just after 8 months of use my sd card feels just cluttered and that there's probably lots of useless files. What do you guys do to clean it up
Sent from E.T.
I delete anything I didn't put there. I have folders, MP3, Pictures, Videos, ROMs, if it's not one of those every so often I just delete everything. Anything programs need, they put back, but it eliminates all the junk I don't need. (I leave the "hidden" folders starting with ., like .android-secure)
back everything on sd card to pc and reformat...then just add back the stuff you want.

You can do it with just the cable, however, some people have issues using a computer to format the SD card. Supposedly it's safer to format in the phone itself. I've never had an issue doing it either way though.

So... what should I backup? before formatting? Obviously any pictures/videos I want. I'm not sure how to backup titaniumbackup though. And then there's "update.zip" and "su-2.3.6.1+busybox1.19". And also any roms/kernels I will flash after. Not sure if there's anything else though.
Will i need to flash cwm through odin? or..

When I back mine up I copy everything, until I'm done and make sure everything is working. For titanium backup all you need is the titanium backup folder on your SD card, you should see your backups in there (three files per backup usually). You don't need the titanium backup stuff in the data folder.
After you get your phone back to a working state remove anything you don't recognize from.your backup.

I would assume that they are email attachments of some sort.
Thanks Gnomad. I am always hesitant to delete stuff for fear it leads to force closes or some other weird issue. Most of the files that remain are ones which appear a foreign language to me. With your help though, my card is a bit more clean than it was yesterday.

Titanium Backup Help

Before I sent my phone off for repair I did a full backup of Apps and Data. Now my phone is back and I'm trying to restore but am unclear how to do this. In TB I don't see anywhere that allows me to choose to restore from where I backed up to. What am I missing?

I hope you still have the backups created by titanium backup with you... Because there is a very good probability that when u sent your phone for repair they formatted everything... If not
Open TB app, press the menu key and open batch option.
In the restore column there wud be an option to restore you apps.... If not then the backups have been deleted!!! You will have to manually install them again... Srry

TiB backs up to /mnt/sdcard/TitaniumBackup so you must have the SDCard you originally backed up to inserted or it won't know where to look.

From "Preferences", set your "Backup folder location" to the folder having your old backups. After that, go to "Backup/Restore" tab. Now, you can find all of those old backup entries. Either restore them individually or use "Batch" from menu.
That's it!

I'm not too sophisticated in all this stuff, not sure if/how to do this. I have a rooted Droid Razr Maxx, stock ROM (wanted to be able to tether without monthly fee). When I upgraded from my original Droid, I copied the sd and put the new one in the Razr. This sort of worked, but left the new 32gb card partitioned, with 8gb read as "sd card", the rear as "ext-sd card". The 8gb filled quickly, and I can't download much, even though I have a lot of space on the card. I have been backing up with Titanium Backup, hoping I can use it to fix this. I also purchased a Sandisk 64gb card, which I read (and it claims on the package) is comparable/formatted foe Android. Can I use the 64gb card, then put everything back with TB (and how)? Do I have to reformat the 32gb card instead, then get everything back on it with TB (and how)? Or do I just have to redownload apps, copy media to PC, then replace, without an easy route through TB? I'd appreciate any help, thanks.

Lost internal Memory Photos - Help!

Hey, I've lost all photos from my S3, when i was installing the JellyBean leak. There isn't any way to mount internal SD card? because all the apps that i downloaded to mount it, don't work. When I try to use a program to recover the photos (like recuva), don't recognize any disk. There is anything I can do? Like resign to recover anything ?
Try via Android Commander and locate your DCIM folder .
But you may have wiped it .
Photos will be in your Nandroid backup .

Hi!
I am facing the same problem here, but i have a nandroid backup...!
Can i retrieve photos from that??
No, Nandroid only backps the system, not the storage locations.
Sorry to hear you lost your data, but you most probably have no chance of getting them back.
I'd recommend using a sync tool to keep the important data (Call logs, SMS's, photos, ...) all stored on the cloud (usually Google servers) so even in worst-case scenarios you still have at least access to those.

Nandroid does not backup internal sdcard.. So most probably your photos are lost.. In future use drop box to sync your photos automatically.. You can never be too sure..
Also, use cwm rather than odin to flash firmwares..
