[Q] Integrating .net 3.5 in clean rom - Touch2 ROM Development

I'm trying to cook a rom (Windows Mobile 5.5 Professional on my HTC Mega) with NET 3.5 framework pre installed using osKitchen. The rom is generated correctly, but the framework is not integrated... There is someone who has integrated it in a rom whith success? I also tried searching the forum but have not found anything about it... I need to cook a clean rom with the framework in order to run Remote Tracker after an hard reset...

You can ask this also in the chef central forums.

NetCF3.5
Try This. Unrar this folder and put him in
osKitchen Zero v1.33.5\sources\Windows Mobile Builds\2xxxx\common
then build. Working for me. Good Luck.

Which ROM? Which add-ons? Confused!

Hi,
I've just stumbled across this project and hence discovered that I have the option to use software other than the official HTC-release ROMs.
I have an unlocked X7500 which I had previously been using with the original HTC image (WM5). I upgraded to their new WM6 image which of course meant that I had to re-install all my customisations so I decided to take the opportunity to investigate the various custom ROMs.
I am now running PK's Project Black v2.0.
What I'm struggling with is trying to work out what additional upgrades I can/should apply to this image. For example, the various Radio ROM upgrades - are they required with PK's PB 2.0?
Is there a definitive list that describes what software is available for WM6 images, especially PB 2.0?
One specific question I have is: should I install all the add-ons from the PK 2.0 Add-ons bundle? Also, how do I install those cab files?
Any clarification would be much appreciated to someone new to this area.
Thanks,
R.

The newest Radio Rom is already included in Black Touch 2.

There are tons of programs available for WM6,
I think there is no list of all those,
just like there is no list for all WinXP programs out there.
The additional sw for BlackTouch2 can be found in the ADDONS Cab.

It's up to you.
If you want Acobat, intall it.
If you like TCPMP, install it.
To install, copy the cab files to you device,
and open them with a file explorer (on your device)
You can delete the cab files after installation.
PS: You don't have to think about which ROM to choose,
you already have the best out there

I think what I was meaning was more along the lines of "what are all the programs in the add-on rarball?". Obviously, I know what Acrobat is (!) but what's RealVGA? And something like "WM5_PPC_HTC_Opera865_2211_generic.cab" - Opera, from WM5? Why would I want/need that on WM6? You understand what I'm asking?

Thanks. I'm still relatively new to my X7500 and am still getting to grips with it.
R.
Read the RealVGA thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327830 The Athena doesn't run at full V+GA resolution RealVGA lets you change the res so you can see more on scree, being an old git I use the middle of the 3 resolutions available using RealVGA.
The Opera cab is the latest version of Opera - I believe teh WM5 prefix was put on by Opera - but it is the latest version for WM6 as well
Can't remember what else is in there at the mo - don't have it with me but if you ask I'm sure someone will answer. All the progs are the latest and best of breed for WM6 and if you want them, install them.

WM 6.1 Clean ROM needed for QTek 8500

I (and probably several others) would like a WM 6.1 English only Clean ROM with no Office or 3rd party apps that take up extra space. Erofich has made an excellent ROM but unfortunately it only leaves 5MB of local storage on the phone which only has 64MB as apposed to the Cingular version which has 128MB that is was cooked for.
Any cooks prepared to make such a ROM?
I've explored trying to do it myself, but I just don't have the programming skills.
You could try this one, don't think you can get any cleaner:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=380554
Am using it for few months now, running fast and stable.
Thnx Timwb and Nirak !
I really need that
and programme to make contacts backup and any programme to make receiving blutooth dierctly to the memory card ?

Activesync will backup your contacts and calendar to Outlook, but if you want to keep all your messages, call logs and other stuff you should try PIM Backup from:

As for beaming direct to SD card I just discovered this http://moblue.hejhej.org/ but haven't tried it yet.
Jeyo Mobile companion is also a nice & easy back up tool:

But it's not free
currently i'm using the clean rom v0.4 and this runs very smooth!
of course i would like a newer build rom (e.g. based on Erofich's latest std rom), because this has newer files and enhances the usability.
so i'm hoping somebody will **** one shortly...
thanks.
It looks like all your prayers will be answered soon, Erofich has announced that the clean version of 6.1 STD is in the works... Here is the link if you want to see for yourself, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2734293&postcount=172
great! thanks mate!
hi guys, what you think about excluding a .NET CF 3.5 too? you will be able to install it to Storage Card, but you need to find an installation cab
Leaving out CF 3.5 would certainly free up a few MB, Paul over at MoDaCo has made a .cab install for it, but I can't find the link right now. Will attatch it soon.
check the first post in this topic
btw, rom is untested, flash it on your own risk
Compact Framework 3.5 CAB
Tried to upload cab but kept failing so here is link to original article on Modaco
http://www.modaco.com/content/windo...act-framework-3-5-without-upgrading-your-rom/
He says it should be installed to local storage, but will try using sd card.
Downloaded the Clean rom and will try flashing tomorrow.
Have flashed rom, (too impatient) available storage 15.96MB! Clean v0.4 was 14.6 or something. The numbers might not look fantastic, but for this handset it's brilliant!
Now to try CF 3.5 on sd card.....
Thanks Erofich

[CUSTOM ROM] Kubino's WM 6.1 clean

I saw on internet chinese ROM WM 6.1 for our Acer S200 . It inspired me to cook WM 6.1 ROM in english. So it is here .
ROM with WM 6.1 run nice - is fast and stable. It is clean ROM based on the newest WM 6.1 build - 21057.
Free RAM after boot WM is 132MB .
Free storage is similar to WM 6.5 - 313MB.
Download: Kubino's WM 6.1 clean
Please do not reupload my ROM. If the link doesn't work, I will reupload it.
Ya-ba-daba-doooooooo! Will test it soon. And where is kitchen? I wish to try some COOKING to build rom with some HTC apps.
I cooked this ROM with kitchen Barin's OSBuilder. If you want, I will send you the kitchen with this ROM.
Kubino, that would be nice.
Thanks, I will try it
Thank you for a nice rom.
Please confirm this.
Settings > Connections > User name and password is not saved.
My best regards.

Where is not saved user name and password? In Connections are a lot of programs.
Happy as a pig in **** with it so far Kubino, have had a couple of freezes in WMP which is a bit unusual, but the main functionality is very stable and fast, so glad someone saved me the job of trying to do this myself, don't much like 6.5 menu/start/back/multiselect changes.

Thank you for the reply.
I wrote and preserved the user name and password.
However, when I saw the user name and password again, it was empty.
Has anybody else who has used this rom found data not working eg GPRS,HSDPA ?
Kubino, cant integrate NET CF 3.5 to rom it kitchen. I've deleted NET CF 2.0 files and place files of NET CF 3.5 in SYS\Common\NETCF. Now OSBuilder gives error about missing files of NETCF 2.0
How can it be solved?

Yes, I tested today. I didn't test before because I'm not using GPRS/EDGE or 3G/HSDPA. I'm trying fix it. I tried cook ROM based on previous build - 21056 but it has the same problem. Probably the problem is with radio, which acer do for WM 6.5.

Bummer, wonder if the radio from a toshiba TG01 could be used being the same hardware on 6.1 originally ?
hello
is there any fix for data connections.
thank you
Yes, I can't use it because of this, don't have the talent/time to fix it, pity because of the amazing speed on this 6.1 rom.

[Q] How can I remove an app from a cooked rom. (Windows live.)

Hey all, I need to know how I can remove the Windows live app from my HTC HD2 running winmo 6.5, that I recently installed the "Maxsense Energy Rom" on. It came with the older version of Windows Live, and I would like to use the new one available 11.1, I believe, but you can not do this without removing the old version first, it will not work. So, bottom line is, How do you remove an app from windows mobile 6.5 that came in a cooked rom?
P.S.
I love this sight, I have learned alot, I am running a T-Mobile, HTC HD2 with winmo
6.5, with the Maxsense Energy Rom, as well as Android Gingerbread 2.3.
Thanks
You would need to unpack the rom into a kitchen, remove the app, rebuild then flash it again,
sadly most (all) cooked roms are protected and wont unpack into the kitchen.
so, the easiest option is ask your chef if they would kindly
a)make you one without that app
Or
b)let you have a copy of the kitchen
You can also try
c) dump the phone into .raw files with psdread, then use a kitchen to convert those back into a cookable format.(not 100% sure this works with cooked roms.)
can you not unpack the cab & manually transfer files to overwrite existing files using resco explorer or total commander !
I do not know why cooks load these type of apps in ROM, would make more sense to implement them via cabs at second boot thus allowing easy upgrade/removal as users require.

Hi,
You don't need to remove it, I installed v11 over the top of cooked in v10 yesterday and have no ill effects whatsoever. (I can use the Bing section, Hotmail integration and Messenger with no problems)
Hey thanks for all the responses, As far as installing the new live version 11,
you can install it, and the app goes on the phone, but when you open it using the new icon, it only opens the old version. They look very similar, but are not.
Check your version, and make sure it's 11, and not 10.7. Or... I am having a different issue than you are??? Either way, I think I will live with the old version for now, if I need to "Re-cook" The rom in order to just upgrade an app that does work. Thanks guys!!!

developing application for Win CE 6.0 in C language using Visual Studio 2005/2008

Hello XDA forum members,
How are you.
I am new to Win CE development and looking to develop application using C languages using Visual Studio 2005/2008 on Win 7(64 Bit) machine.
I don't have the real handset device on which the application can be tested upon, so is there any possibility of Emulator to check our application developed.
Please let me know the process, tutorials and tools.
thanks in advance.

Hi Mich-C,
I'm still interested. What tools are needed to start building ? I have C knowledge. Just don't know the specific tools for CE 6.0 development.
Thanks.

Ok.
That's what I've learned by myself:
---Programming Language:
You need to learn an object oriented language.
You can use Visual Basic .NET or C#.
I advice you C# (I developed some WinMo apps with this language)
If you have experience with C only, is better to understand the foundamentals of O.O. languages uppermost.
---Development Environment
You could use IDEs provided by Microsoft but they're quite heavy and I don't reccomend them to start.
Intead, I advice you the Sharp Develop IDE, it's light, free and open source.
---Emulators (part1)
You can download from the official Microsoft website many Windows Mobile emulators. They're released as .msi file so you can install them with just a few clicks, like any other .exe installation file.
I advice you the Windows Mobile 6.1 or 6.5 Professional emulator.
---Emulators (part2)
Windows Mobile comes with the .net compact framework 2.0 runtime preinstalled. If you want to code and run any app you need to download here the .net compact framework 3.5. Then you can install that .cab on your emulator
---Emulators (part3)
Don't test your apps on real hardware.
PDAs and PPCs are quite slow but most of all they're at least 10 years old and they have very limited storage.
The more you'll write on memory, the more you'll slow down your device.
And unlike modern smartphone that has large storage and the new trim technology, the difference with PPCs is noticeable.
I'm curious to see your apps!!
Let me know if you have any question.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge @Mich-C appreciated. SharpDevelop looks almost like old Virtual Studio. I like that
AFAIK only version 3.2 is able to build for net framework compact 3.5
I got the .Net CF 3.5 Power Toys and Windows Mobile 6 Professional + Standard SDK Refresh already.
Just framework 3.5 SDK is hard to find. Microsoft removed these older SDKs from their web. Can you provide me a link?
Hi @Traace.
This page explains everything : https://github.com/icsharpcode/SharpDevelop/wiki/Compact-Framework-Development
You can still download .net cf 3.5 SDK, It's a web installer

But the links for 3.5 SDK are down. They lead to -> Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Runtime files.
