Ok folks, i know this has been a hell of a long time coming and its not perfect at all yet but i thought id put it out as an alpha for people to play with
Whats working:
WiFi
Bluetooth
3G/GSM
Calls in theory (cant test)
3d & hardware acceleration
once flashed you should head to settings>display and TURN OFF auto rotate as it does not work properly currently
the device is locked into landscape orientation at moment though so easy enough to use
download link : http://downloads.streakdroid.com/djsteve/streakcm.zip
requirements:
baseband from streakdroid 1.2+ or official froyo
remember to factory reset on first boot or it will likely crash
also i am aware the boot animation is the wrong way but this does not effect anything
cheers folks and enjoy
Please feel free to donate to my work if you find it useful - any amount is appreciated

OMG Steve you are the man. Would love to help test out, but unfortunately my Streak is my only phone. Made a small donation on Cyanogen the other day for this. Once you get a stable running, ill definetly be donating to you again. Dont know where you find the time to make all this happen, but keep up the great work. Cheers

Wow Steve... just plain wow. You go man. Time to tinker with this new hotness.
LED lights staying on
found an app to turn the lights off (it literally turns them off, all or nothing style) but its better than having them on all the time! you can also switch them back on anytime.
it took along time to find an app that works so i hope you guys find it useful too
http://www.appbrain.com/app/covedesi...ovedesign.devs
as the app is free in the market anyway i've attached the apk too
What is so special about this rom.I used it before on my n1. It was nice, but couldn't rememeber anything special about it

It isn't listed as supported for the Eris. I've only read reports of failure for people who've tried to get it working thus far...
The Beta is due out in "a few weeks," so let's hope there's some Eris love with that!

Confirmed installed but closed every time I opened it
ya... i tried the alpha back in May and got no luck... hopefully they make it so it can work with Eris...
No luck here also. Installed and it closes when I try to run it.
Hope it will work when it comes out in beta.
Holy crap they need to shrink the app a little, 30 MB is way too big for a phone.
I got fennec working. It took a few minutes to load. At first I only had a black screen for several minutes. While at one time I was looking forward to this, but not at this size. I will tell you it does work, but takes several minutes to open. I'll update more later.
Update
2nd and 3rd time opening took only about 30 seconds to load
Update
Very slow to load websites. Not worth continuing to test. They do have a version that is compatible with Arm6 devices(which the Eris is). That version is just crap.

Here's the link... https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android ...just scroll down, its below the arm7 version and heres the link to directly download the apk http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla....mozilla-central-android-r7-nothumb/fennec.apk ...
and heres what it says on the page for those who too lazy to look. THIS IS THE VERSION I GOT TO WORK, BUT IT TOOK ABOUT 5 MINUTES TO LOAD THE FIRST TIME, GIVING ME A BLACK SCREEN FOR 5 MINUTES.
ARMv5/v6

For devices with ARMv5 or ARMv6 processors, like the HTC Hero, Legend, Droid Eris, Wildfire, or Samsung Moment. (See below for a longer list of phones.)
Note: The ARMv5/v6 build is new and not widely tested. Many older Android phones do not have enough RAM or storage to run current Fennec builds. Fennec's visual design is not yet optimized for lower-resolution displays (bug 590777).

Tried it on Plain Jane. Pinch zoom, double tap zoom and so on works. Its useless for now as interface is ridiculous and its slow. Took me about 20 seconds to load first time and about 15 from there on. Original, Opera or Dolphin are much better.
where you guys at who said i was full of bs.

Hi ...
Netflix released version 1.4 for all Android phones. Did anyone download and try it ? Did it work on the Streak ? My release 1.3 stopped working, but up here in Canada, we cannot get the newest release yet.
Can someone be kind enough to post the apk for us up here in Great White North ? Much appreciate that !

A quick Google search led me to this:

The link is on that site.
I'm running it without a hitch on Fards GB 2.3.
Mine updated the other day and still works great. I'm on 351. I was nervous about updating it but figured if it messed it up I would just delete it and go back to the old version

working like a charm on fards streakdroid 2.3 rom. downloaded it from the market the other day!
Resolved my issue
Ok so I never really cared about gps, but I recently checked and I get no satalite locks on froyo and if I do its like 3100m. Any way I can make it better? Im on stock froyo with bali kernel. Thanks

If it just started with the rom you installed, try a different rom. If a new rom doesn't fix it, search the vibrant dev board for gps fix, you will find two types, the software fix, and if that doesn't work, the hardware fix, which worked great for me. Good luck!
Edit: reread that, if you are on stock, skip the new rom part. ;-)

Hey Snake. Check out the link in my sig to a GPS fix. It is easy and I can get a lock with 8-10/13 birds down to about 10-20ft. It works really well. The whole thread is about 7 posts long so not too much reading either.
Ok thanks for the info guys and will do wood thanks.

if you want to upgrade to gb... you really need to understand fully of what to do next... or you will in trouble if something goes wrong... like other newbies here... they all just wanted to upgrade without doing some proper reading and understanding... and then come here crying...
I have done it before on other phone just on the ds it seems a whole lot differant to me I put jellybean on my lil boys phone yesterday was just for me to play with tho lol. I just seem to have a lot of force closes on froyo so thought gb would be a bit better

The first think to do is read all the sticky posts on Streak 5 Android Development thread, next you choose the rom and read the instructions. Every rom has there on instructions. I use MIUI 2.4.20 for about 1 month with no major problems.

On my Dell Axim 51v, flashing ROMs was a completely simple matter; no special 'root' access needed, you just load the ROM onto the SD card then boot to recovery and flash it, done. I loved Windows Mobile for that.
On the Android platform it's a nightmare of complicated steps dependent on other steps, including the installation of various different programs on your Streak and your PC. I hate Android for that.
If you have a stock recovery, it's the same steps: you put the pkg on the root of the sd card and boot into recovery and flash it.
No special 'root' access needed.
