Market problems - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having trouble updating and purchasing apps from the market.
I keep getting a force closure message. Its been like it for a few days now and not sure why.
is anyone else having the same trouble. Is it possible to re load the market app to try and get it to work.
Cheers

Every so often i'll keep getting force close messages when installing or updating apps too. What seems to have worked for me is to go to:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > (Change filter to all applications) > Market > Uninstall updates.
Then, when i run everything again, it works fine. It's worth a try anyway to see if it works.

It worked! thanks for the tip!

Does anyone have the stock market apk? I've been having issues downloading any apps and it seems that the solution is to use the Eclair Market. Thanks in advance

In my experience, if you can just uninstall the update, do that. If you can't, pushing the old market usually doesn't fix it.
There is a thread on here that shows you some options to clear that should make it work.

I tried literally all the suggested solutions of clearing. Pushing the old one is probably the only viable option left.
Didn't work for me. But goodluck

New market app updating

I was updated to the new market yesterday and today saw that Titanium had an update. Clicking on it opens screen that only allows for the app to be opened or uninstalled. I don't see any option to update.
How do we update with the new market?
Thanks,
SF

I had the same problem when my market auto upgraded. I think what happens is that the market account gets screwed up and it doesn't allow you to update some things. Its fixable - you have to reregister your phone with the market. The bad news is the only way I could figure to do this was to clean wipe and start over. I suppose you could factory reset to. I bet there's an easier route - but I haven't found it.

Just found an easier way : I moved vending app from /data/app to sd, pushed it back, changed permissions and rebooted and everything is fine. Thanks for taking time to answer

I am going to try this in ES File Explorer, I have run into this same issue. How exactly did you set the permissions?

In es explorer, long press on the file and select properties. They'll be a button there to change permissions

I bet this issue could be corrected by us using the new market apk in the ROMs. We will soon find out

Sorry, I phrased that incorrectly. I know how to get in there & change the permissions. What I was wondering is how they need to be set. Is it RW-R--R--? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just don't have to do this very often & want to make sure I do it correctly.

This worked for me! Thanks guys for the clarification on setting permissions.
I thought I had this issue fixed, but it has resurfaced. I have the market telling me there is now an update for Handcent SMS, however it doesn't give me the option to update! I can only open or uninstall.
I tried the fix starflorida posted multiple times, but it just isn't doing the trick. Does anyone have an idea what's going on? Any suggestions or feedback?
There is a new version of the market rolling out today. Try clearing data and restarting market and see if that helps?

I was hoping to avoid that, just so i don't have to re-enter all of my info. But, if I can't get it straightened out, I'll give that a go.
I now have 2 apps sitting there waiting for an update that I can't complete: Handcent & Unlock with Wifi. If I click the app individually, I only get the choices of opening or uninstalling. However, if I click the button that says "Update 2", it looks like it will work! I don't get it.
Edit: I am currently getting the "Low on Space" message from my phone (I prefer not to put my apps on the SD card, if possible). Could this be the reason why I can't update my apps?
Clearing the market data seems to have worked as a temporary fix. It is no longer showing that I need to update any of my apps. However, I did not receive the latest market version. It is still the same version I had prior to clearing data, version 3.0.27
It will, when you least expect it! You can download an apk from Android central if you don't want to wait...

[Q] Random Titanium Backup Question

After searching the forum I cannot find the answer, so I am hoping someone has run into this issue as well.
I have been using Task's ROM since version one, and everytime I flash I restore my apps and app data from Titanium (no system data), which works fine every time. However, one of those times I decided to run the Market Doctor and "fix" the market links. What I forgot about before I did that is not all of my apps come from the Android market, some come from the Amazon market. So the apps from the Amazon market are now associated with the android market and show up as needing to be updated, which fails of course because some are paid apps on Android so the download/install is declined. I have tried uninstalling from Android and reinstalling from amazon, then restoring data only from Titanium, but the Android market still hangs on to them. Is there anyway to "unfix" what Titanium did via the Market Doctor? This also applies even after wiping and installing a new ROM because it is now associated with the Android market on their end, not only on my device of course.
Any thoughts? Thanks everyon!

Thanks, but that didn't work. I think its because they are now associated with my google account and the market.

Too Many App Freeze on ICS

Hello,
This is my first post here. I hope you guys can help.
I updated to official ICS release recently from 2.3.6 (if i remember correctly). Since then I get too many application freezes. Generally games like DrawSomething, Plants vs Zombies... get frozen. I need to close the frozen app from task mngr and re-open it.
Anyone else having the similar problem or can you guys suggest me something to fix this error?
Thanks so much for all replies.

How many apps do you have installed? Have you tried to wipe dalvik and fix permissions?

1: please do a full wipe
2: most will run on stock ics
3: few won't run on AOSP.

Thanks for all replies. So by "wipe" you mean uninstalling every app?
Sorry if I sound stupid. I am kinda new to phone terminology.
I have many apps. I use them all I guess. :-/

Seems like "wipe" is the only solution for me atm.
Could you please suggest me a back up app? And maybe a good "wipe" walkthrough forum topic link?
Thank you again...

Factory reset. Now What?

Ok, so lately I've been running the Nemus Launcher on my Atrix, and I've been having issues with the screen locking up, apps not working, and overall unresponsiveness. I used to run ADW Launcher EX with no problems, so I decided to go back to it to see if that would help. Well, after tweaking the icons how I wanted them to look in ADW, I stopped running Nemus and made ADW my default again. Then the trouble really began. My phone quit doing anything. Every time I would try to open an app, move one around on the screen, or anything else, the phone would either freeze up or restart. After messing with it for a few hours that night, I gave up and went to bed. The next day just got worse. All the phone did was repeatedly restart every time I tried to do anything to it. This continued into today (Sunday), so I decided the only way to fix it was to start over, so I did a factory reset. Now, I'm trying to reinstall all my apps, but I don't even have Google Play store on the phone anymore. It shows up as Android Market again, and it only shows some of my apps in the library. Its been reinstalling some of them automatically, but its trying to install them multiple times at once. This has been going on for 5 hours now. At this point, I don't know what to do to get my apps back on, so I can make phone back how it was with ADW running. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Shawn
If it was my phone, I'd boot into recovery, flash the full wipe zip, then flash a new Rom.

Where can a full wipe zip be found? All I've been able to find is the ffw which is done thru fastboot and connected to computer.

And you should let a moderator decide where to move a thread to. There's a report button for a reason, you posting the same thing in every thread isn't constructive at all. Why not answer the question and just report the thread so it gets moved?

What You need to do is udpate android market to google play, so go to settings->applications->Manage applications-> choose "all' tab find market app then clear all data there and it should update automatically when you launch market. Good luck
Thanks fellas, I reset the Market and it updated to Playstore. AND, yes I suppose this thread should've probably been somewhere else, but at the time, I was stressing pretty hard about loosing everything on my phone. I searched the threads, but didn't see anything close to what I needed to say, so I figured the General section was sufficient. Sorry if I offended the thread trolls

Ok, so I've been playing with my phone and got it pretty much back how it was (minus some programs/apps I decided not to re-install) and it runs way faster now. BUT, NOW IT'S EATING MY BATTERY UP BAD! I only have a few widgets enabled and not much running in the background (nothing like before the reboot), but today it ate my battery almost completely up from 7:30am to 11:00am. The phone is getting really HOT too. WTF
