E: cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I go to wipe dalvik cache I am presented with this message. I am currently on Nero B3. After this error, I tried the SD_Fix.zip to see if that changed anything, it did not.
Is this normal? I do not recall it before.

What is going on with all the froyo roms being weird about mounting, and not being able to read and/or write to (external/internal)....
I know not everyone has the issue.... I have ODIN'd to stock before flashing the roms just to be overly safe. I have also formatted both the internal and external sd cards as well.

[Q] Q: E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2

Hey everyone,
I'm enjoying my gTablet so far, but I've been having this nagging problem since about 4 ROM's ago.. To sum things up my gTablet works OK, but I get a specific error when I try to wipe dalvik-cache:
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (File exists)
I've checked the threads for other devices but since this partitioning we're dealing with I'm loathe to move without knowing what I am doing. Also the other issues didn't seem to relate directly.
Lastly, a question -- My device has about 90 apps installed and it seems to take an extended period of time to boot -- Could this be the apps (obviously) or is it tied to the fact that currently there isn't a dalvik-cache?
Lastly, I've partitioned after doing an NVFlash earlier using 2048;0. I don't recall getting the error on the first few ROM loads, and every ROM I load still runs -- Just perplexed at why I can't clear the dalvik-cache and if it relates to the problems I have with boot times.
Recovery: cwm .08
Partitioned scheme: 2048;0
I have this exact same problem E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (File exists)
. Using basic boot recovery, the error prevents the ability to wipe/factory reset.
. Using CWM.08, the error appears when doing Dalvik Cache wipe.
Hope to have help.
Folks,
I have seen two answers to this question about the
memory location:
1. Said it had something to do with not having a microSD
card in the slot.
2. Said it was related to our G-Tablet having 512 vs 1 Meg
of memory and the firmware reads it wrong.
Either way, I've seen it on my two tabs and heard from a
ton of other folks and it never seems to make a difference.
Don't worry; be happy!!! Forget it!
Rev
EDIT: As for the "can't wipe Dalvik Cache" -- I haven't
run into that one before and can't say.......

[Q] Newb trying to fix his G-tab

So heres my problem, had Vegantab 7.0.0 on a Gtab I just purchased online. I wanted the Vegantab on it because Ive seen it beeing used but have not done anything with ROMs prior to this.
When I got it, it was stuck in a Bootloop just rebooting the Vegantab screen.
-NvFlashed the tab,
-Now I got the Gtab and the birds as part of the loop
-Tried to reinstall Vegantab via SD card, Keep getting an error
What am I screwing up because this tab is about ready to go flying across the room.
Try repartitioning the sdcard while in clockworkmod recovery (which I assume you've installed to install VeganTab).
I've seen the Gtablet loop over and over at the bootanimation until that partition is repartitioned (2048 for first, 0 for swap).
I was able to load clockwork back on it but now am getting
cant mount dev block mmcblk3p1 Error
All I see is to change the command line? Which I have no idea what they are talking about
You better just nvflash and start with a clean slate. There's good guides on nvflash just search them.

NVflashing will probably not correct this problem. mmcblk3 is on your internal sd (2 partitions p1 & p2) which nvflash doesn't touch. The internal sd contains the /data partition & /sdcard partitions. I believe p1 is /data.
Two things to try (both accomplish the same thing...the first is the quickest).
1. Boot to CWM, go to Advanced & Partition SD, 2048, 0. This will attempt to wipe out everything on the internal SD & recreate the /data & /sdcard partitions or
2. Boot to CWM, got to Mounts & Storage & format /data & format /sdcard.
If that doesn't work, the resident expert on troubleshooting gtab internal sd problems is rajeevvp. If he doesn't chime in, you can PM him & he can have you do further diagnostics.

[Q] can't mount the sd card

Hi guys,
I was using CheckROM v.6 + SiyahKernel 2.6.13 for a day now but when I rebooted the phone, SD card (and I guess the internal storage also) was not mounted after reboot.
I tried to mount it via Settings menu, didn't work.
then I went into CWM and there I saw that:
/data
/
/
are mounted
/
/sdcard
/emmc
are NOT mounted.
every time i mount these 3 and reboot system, what should I see, they are not mounted!
I go into CWM and there they are, not mounted again. CWM doesn't listen to me... (omg is this the beginning of Skynet?!)
so what should I do?
PS: Don't yell at me that I should search forums etc. did that, could not find.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: well I first tried to reflash kernel, didn't work.
then I cleared dalvik cache and reflashed, it worked now. weird.

[Q] Can't wipe data / factory reset

Ok, I have been searching for my exact issue for the greater part of today trying to solve my issue and I haven't come across anything so far.
I am on running gingerbread 2.3.4 with the UnOriginal 1.4.6 minimalist edition rom.
Basically, whenever I reboot my phone, it reverts back to its state on Sept. 27. For instance If I send a text, upload some music from my computer to the phone, and take a picture, all of that data will be missing when I reboot. All of the texts I sent, pictures I took, numbers I've added, etc. are gone. I can't put files on my phone anymore because as soon as I take it out of USB storage mode, the files are gone.
Things I have tried:
1. A factory reset / wipe data from the phone's settings menu and from CWM
2. formatting /system, /data, and /cache in the "mounts and storage" menu in CWM
3. formatting the phone from my computer
4. flashing a stock rom and PIT file from Odin
5. flashing a rom from CWM
No matter what I do, it always boots up the same as always with the same boot animation, the same text convos, same address book, pictures, etc.
I can't mount anything in CWM's "mount and storage" menu. It just gives an error: "unable to write to ums lunfile"
Does anybody have any ideas? I'm completely stumped at this point.

I would get into CWM mount storage and delete everything and upload a rom and try to flash it so it has nothing to fall back on

Thanks for the quick reply. should I format /emmc? I formatted system, data, and cache and when I rebooted, it still booted up to it's sept. 27th state. Should I format system, data, cache, and emmc and then try to get into download mode for odin? Could it be a faulty internal SD?

Mount storage to your pc and delete everything (make a backup if you want). And just put one rom in there and see if the problem persists after flash

I mounted the phone to my computer via the in phone prompt instead of CWM and deleted everything off of the internal sd card. As soon as I disconnected the phone from usb storage mode, I used the file browser on the phone and all of the files were still there. Wiping and formatting everything and flashing a new rom in CWM yielded no results as well.
This is really strange behavior to me. Any other suggestions?
You're Making this waaaaaaay to complicated. Just flash another rom. Unless you used rom manager to get into recovery. In which case you didn't read enough. But if not yeah just flash a rom.

Alright so when I go into "mounts and storage" in CWM, I can mount/unmount everything except /sdcard and USB storage.
When I try to mount /sdcard it just says: "Error mounting /sdcard"
When I try to mount USB storage, it says: "E:Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)"
What's up with that?

When it says mount USB storage it means external sd card. How do you have your sd card currently formatted? (fat32)?

Ok, well that explains why I can't mount USB storage as I don't have an external sd card, only the internal one.
I tried to reformat the internal sd card from my computer to fat32 (it was already fat32), but it didn't actually wipe anything. I'l try unchecking "quick format".
I tried wiping and flashing a few more roms, but still nothing changes.
Thanks for all the help so far guys, but I still can't figure out what's going on and why I can't seem to modify data on the sdcard long-term.

U posted in the wrong q & a.
This forum is for the sgh-i777.
this problem has been solved? or not yet? cause this my problem too. Cant wipe data. The rom and data are still there.
Why did you necro a 2 year old thread? It would be better to post a new thread stating your issues and information.
I do not remember this issue ever being solved. This may be the only person that has posted with an issue like this, as far as I can remember, until you posted.
What are your symptoms exactly; What firmware is on the phone; What can you do with the phone; What have you tried? Give as much information about your phone as you can think of.
For instance, have you tried flashing the full stock distribution with Odin?
How do you perform this step? mounting the device on your pc. I've tried to do this via terminal on the device itself but it can't get to mount the partitions i need to wipe.

[Q] Unable to mount preinstall, Is this normal?

So during my battles trying to get JB on my atrix I performed a fastboot wipe on just about everything, including preinstall. Now anytime I flash something I get the error "unable to mount preinstall" is this bad or normal? I just searched quite a bit and found no one mentioning it.
Where are you getting this message? In the recovery?
If you wiped everything, that's perfectly normal. You can't mount a non-existent filesystem. You'll need to create a filesystem first before you (or a script) can mount it.
