Hey i was just wondering how do i put movies on my phone. Got alot of test this week in school, trying not to be completely bored. Also if know of a site where there is free movies that'll be great too.
The absolute easiest way I have found is to get FreeMake Video Converter from freemake.com and copy the resultant converted for you device movie to the Movies folder on you SD card.
I don't have a computer on me, but Google" handbrake movies on samsung vibrant" and you will get get your answer.

This isn't basic cable!
Where in the heck do you live that any kind of cable is free? I've never lived anywhere where any cable service is free.
I do know of one way, but you need aTV tuner card connected to your pc. Then you can use orb to stream recklessly to your phone. IMHO the better wow factor comes from the movies. You can easily convert your dvds and video files with handbrake. That's where it's at!

can someone tell me how to copy movies onto my phone i love avatar with my a2dp bt headphones but want more movies to watch help someone ?
You need to find a dvd converter that will make it into an mp4 format then connect your phone to your computer and move the file to your phone

Torrent some files and them just drag and drop them to your external sd on your phone

Search for Handbrake. Its free and it will do it just fine.
I play Xvid, Dvix, Mp4, M4v on mine all the time.
Find a dvd copier and rip the disk to you're computer. Then download a free program called format factory (can change the file type and quality very easily) pick a file type and format (.3gp, .mp4, .avi, .flv, .wmv, work on the vibrant)

Download a program on your computer called Vuze. The updated version allows you to convert downloaded movies right into Vibrant compatible format.
rockplayer will play just about any format as well
My 2 cents are on format factory

I tried handbrake it tells me the file is copyrighted cannot copy

I want to say that there is a windows program called "Granny Smiths" that will allow your dvds to be converted by hand brake. I was having the same problem a while back. I was able to use hand brake on my "King of Queens" dvds after using G Smiths. Or... Haven't got to test it yet but you can go to frostwires site and pick up an android app. Got it a couple of days ago for free
Should be able to go to www.cnet/downloads for that first one.

I use the swarm app along with rockplayer app. Swarm is a bit torrent app that works great on vibrant phones.

Hey I use realplayer converter for all my movies. I haven't had any problems using it.
Your Vibrant can play DVD's, just jam a disc into the microUSB port and it should begin playing.

+1 on Handbrake. I used to use it all the time when I had to convert everything to .mp4 for iTunes. On the Vibrant, I use RockPlayer, which plays every video format... basically...
Thread moved to Q&A.
Found it its called dvd fab works awesome 1 touch convert to mp4 or avi try it thanks guys
Lovin my vibrant
I use the video converter from freemake.com.... its free and works great!
Thread Promotes possible piracy, XDA Does not support such activities, thread locked
I have tried various apps. I have been able to connect to my network browse all files. Its just when I go to play the file it says wrong format. The funny thing is I can place these files on my vibrants SD and play them fine...
I am using trigger redux cm7 and loving it!!!!!
Anyone lol?

Files will stream if they are encoded to do so and are in a format that the vibrant can play. Mp4 files with the file info in the header would be your best bet.
Another option would be to use a streaming server/client solution like box stream and convert.it is available in the market.

What do you mean by "in the header " and I tried getting both those apps couldn't find anything pertaining to streaming or encoding.

When you have the Vibrant then you have AllShare preinstalled...you use it?
Cause with AllShare you can watch all the vids that are on your PC via Mediaplayer...all you have to do is, add the Moviefolder to the Mediaplayer Libary and you are good to go.
I have no trouble at all streaming everything to my phone, only old codec versions like XVID or DIVX are making problems, but those are really old.
I downloaded the trial of Pavtube Video Converter just to test it... And O M G Its taking over 1 hour to convert 1 movie 800mb!!! Thats slow... Is this normal?.. can someone please tell me what I should do Any tips?
I download my movies and they usually come in AVI, MKV, MOV sometimes MP4.. I was told the g3 cannot take AVI because of all the different codecs that they could come in, so you will need to convert it but guys I need the best tool for this.
Moderator edit - no asking for warez
THank you
Edit your post please Warez is banned on XDA and you are stealing from XDA members in many cases .

Look for vid con on the play store and u can try it for free for 3 days! Seems fine for me

you have been so wrongly informed - the GS3 will run those file justs fine (without the need for any conversion). If not you have issues using the stock player - use a 3rd party player than can play using software decoding.

Google "handbrake". Best free converter there is
If you download MX Player for free from the Play store then you can play all the most common video formats like avi, mp4, flv, mkv and many more. I use this myself and not had any problems at all.
Hope this helps.

Could you be more specific or possibly provide a link. Googling video converter pulls up a bunch of free ones and I'm not sure which you're referring to. Thanks!
For me, I use asoftech video converter, you may download and have a try

Yeah I did download it to my pc, and it wont let me copy it to my droid using my cable because it says the file is protected I assume that means the drm is preventing it. I might try stripping the drm and converting the file to a different file type that android can read since we cant read .wmv files which is what it downloads as.

Or since you already legally bought it, just download it through a torrent. That is the real use for torrents don'tcha know
I don't use torrents I'm not a pirate. If you get caught it's not worth the trouble with your isp, and it's not worth going to court.

Yeah i know but to me its not worth the risk. I know how to move it over I just need to get some software first so I can strip the drm and convert it to a readable format.

I literally lol'd. You bought it, you own it, therefore if you torrent it and get "caught" you can prove that you were either A. Backing it up and/or B. Converting it to a compatible format - which in both cases is not pirating. Torrenting has legitimate uses too bro.

Enlighten us please. What software(s) did you use?

Use an alternate android media player, such as MX Player. It plays a ton of different file formats that the default android player won't.
I use MX Player to play tons of files natively without converting, like hi10p 1080p Anime with dual audio and soft subs. You can also download a custom ffmpeg plugin to support DTS audio, which i think is the only major thing it's missing by default.
This is much more convenient than converting every movie you want to put on your phone. The DNA is more than powerful enough to play all the common formats.

I think its the drm that was the issue
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
So I used audible tunebite 10 it's actually quite a unique software. Basically since the file is protected by drm and I need to convert it so I can copy it to my phone I opened up tunebite and converted it. Tunebite re records the movie and takes what ever is going through the sound card and on the screen it then converts the file and you can do as you please with it because the new converted file is not protected by drm. The new output had basically the same quality as the original. Only con is it took about 2 and a half hours so I just watched the movie again. It's also really good for music. An example that you can use it for is let's say I want a song so I open up spotify turn record on in tunebite and it will capture the sound going through the sound card and then convert it to a file format I want. It also then automaticallt tags the song and then I can do as I please with it. It's a very nice software and you can buy it from their site or through amazon like I did.
There is a free trial that you can use to see what the software is capable of before you buy it that's what I did and I liked it. With the trial you are limited on how long you can recorded and what not but it's just to get a taste of it and see the results. Overall I think it works very well and I will deffidently get my money's worth.

And you say you are not a pirate. Circumventing drm is as punishable under the dmca as downloading a copy is. Tsk, tsk

 No, him, using the same program
Yes that is probably not legal however the main reason I am using this is really just to make a copy of the movie I bought to covert it to a readable format and be able to play the movie on my nexus 7. Also since I'm just making a copy in a different format the drm has not been touched from the original file.
