After 3 hours on a plane holding gtablet while watching movie I really feel need for case with standing support, any available?
There is an official one out of hong kong for the zpad.. or there have been a few people that have gotten cases they modded
I bought a stand a couple of years ago for reading paperback books. Works great for the G tab, especially in landscape orientation. It has spring loaded arms that keep the stand attached to the tablet. You can find it at Amazon, search Book Gem.
That's actually a pretty useful device! and cheap compared to the official dock...
Can someone post a link to the one that is designed for the zpad? Does it fit the Gtab pretty well?
I'm looking for a similar case-stand in one, similar to the leather Zpad case. Anywhere to buy it without the group buy? I wish more retailers would come out with something, or viewsonic themselves.
When are they going to come out with some after market sleeves/cases???? I want to spend some money but no one wants to take it. Company's new the TF was coming out for months.
well the short answer is that there aren't any "official" cases for the TF other than the Asus produced sleeve case. after reading reviews and hands-on impressions, i think the case is way overpriced and not all that great. if they charged $15 or $20 for the case, i think more would buy it.
that being said, check this thread a few posts down for the list of compatible cases. i'm in the same boat in that my TF is actually being delivered today and i wont have a case for it. i'm debating on going to walmart or BB or something and just getting a zippered sleeve netbook case just to hold me over until something better comes out. i'll be walking around with the tablet and really fearful of scratching it or dropping it
Well, there are no official ones but other vendors are starting to put transformer in the title of their products as sign of compatibility?
Like this from CaseCrown:

Or if you prefer multi-pocket messenger bag

Or GizmoDorks hard shell EVA case

Any cheap case for a 10" netbook will fit fine ;P
well i'm really wanting a portfolio case as i will be using my TF mainly for work purposes at the office. my company bought me one to use, so im wanting to carry this thing to meetings and what not...and i dont want to use a messenger bag thingy to do it.
Check out the cases thread. Lots of price ranges.

yeah i posted there on the last page asking for tips on the kindle dx cases but havent heard from anyone yet. i think im just going to buy a netbook sleeve/zipper case, and then when a true folio case comes out for the TF, i'll just take my netbook sleeve back to the store and return it.

Currently the only folio-type case is the official Asus case. It's a mixed bag -- functionally, it's perfect, exactly what you want from a tablet case. However, it is pricey, and doesn't appear to be built from $40 worth of materials But, it's all we have right now as far as cases built specifically for the TF.
im in the similar situation as someone above.
my TF is delivered today, but i dont have any protection for it. Might just run to Ross and see if i score on a netbook pouch.
what id really like is a silicone skin to guard the back of the unit and a screen shield..
i can then just store it in a case/pouch
Ok, so I am looking for something temporary that makes it easy to take the tablet out and use and i think i prefer not having a zipper because i just dont think metal needs to be anywhere near the tablet when it comes to a case. So I am thinking about one of the 3 cases and they are all under $10. Free 2 day shipping with amazon prime as well. My biggest concerns with them though is that they might be to big. I dont want the tablet sliding around in it. Here are the options i have found so far:
http://www.amazon.com/Envelop-Neopr...?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1305695940&sr=1-39
http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-K6...2-Inch/dp/B002NU5R3A/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
http://www.amazon.com/Asus-T101MT-E...TF8&coliid=I3ULO79FFYTHW8&colid=3V2S2G7N6FICX
I am kind of leaning towards the Asus one above, but the envelope style one might be nice. I didnt find any in the compatible thread that fit my needs. I will probably be getting a dock (whenever best buy has them available as i have a $100 BB gift card to burn there), nothing is in stone yet. I really wanted a case with a stand, but the asus transformer one seems like crap and the price is to high and doesnt work with the dock.
Help me make a decision as i have been shopping to long. =) I could just buy 2 of the 3, but i dont want to waste money either and Im not one to return a $10 item. I am open to other ideas as well. Thanks!
Keep your eye

Keep your eye on It2steve's site: electroniccrap.com If you want to waiting about 9days. You will not be disappointed.
Just ordered one from ebay for 10" netbook, should only have 2cm more than the transformer on the width... should fit great with the keyboard dock and only 3.28$
Here is the link for anyone interested, (also, does anyone actually tried those sleeve and how did it fit, i am waiting for my dock to come in but the dimensions should fit or be really close...)
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250759188954#ht_4779wt_1035
as for the messenger bag, i would have definately got one from amazon but i am in canada and the shipping is monstruous and the ones from amazon.CA are 3-4 times the price so i am looking on ebay...
If you are Sam's Club member
I found a sleeve at Sam's Club for 7.88 by Case Logic. Zips shut and has a small pocket on the front the cord and power supply (I keep an micro fiber cloth for cleaning the display also). Works great with the tablet and keyboard.
I ended up getting the Asus one as it was only about $12 after overnight shipping. Will update you guys on how it fits.
I just bought the TFP from TigerDirect 2 weeks ago and it came as part of a bundle that included this bluetooth keyboard and stand from Logitech.
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/8232
While this does look pretty cool, I am debating opening it or not as I may sell it to put towards the actual keyboard dock from Asus as I really like the one I had on my original Transformer.
Has anyone used this Logitech keyboard and have any opinions or insight into it?
I bought one for $49 and was impressed with it.
Even though I have the TP keyboard dock, I would still use the Logitech for a back up or something to leave in my office.
I picked this up from woot.com like 2 weeks ago for like $25. I just got it yesterday. Woot takes forever to send stuff. I tested it out and it works great. A little hard to get used to the location of the Android shortcut buttons but still a pretty sweet keyboard. I don't use the stand as I use a Mojo case. I do like how the case doubles as a case for the keyboard though.
Only downside I can see is that the power switch for the keyboard is exposed while in the case. So if you throw it in your bag, it has the potential to turn itself on. Oh, and one more downside is that it takes 4 AAA batteries. Doesn't have a built in battery pack.
Still a great item overall.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
seems like a nice lightweight keyboard, but personally, i find the dock to have much more utility to it.
however, since it seems to go for so much lower than retail i wouldn't bother selling it, but just buying the dock and having a backup BT keyboard.
Anyone got any leads on a keyboard folio / case for the tablet? I think it would be the icing on the cake for me. I'm looking to get the LTE version and replace my qwerty phone which I use 95% of the time as a pocket computer rather than phone anyways.
eBay and Amazon don't have anything yet from what I can see.

The only worthwhile thing you're likely to find for quite some time is this. And it's quite pricey as well. Sadly.

I'm honestly not concerned with the price of that item. I understand I'm in a niche realm, and am willing to pay for the features I want. Thank you for the recommendation, I've got it bookmarked for whenever the LTE version hits the stores.
If you do not mind a stand alone keyboard, you could always get something like this

Thank you for the suggestion, but I was thinking more along the lines of the previous recommendation. I'm sure alot of people don't understand, but I'm very attached to my qwerty slider phones, and am looking for a modern solution to this. For the life of me, I can't understand why in a geek driven market, more people aren't using their smart phones or tablets in IT and Engineering roles for quick code changes, responding to on-call support tickets without having to tote around a full laptop and wait to boot up, etc.. The clothing I wear has large enough cargo pockets for an 8" tablet, so if I could get one that fits with a keyboard, I'd have my next device.
Thanks
Shield tablet wireless keyboard folio-case - another option
Yeah I use mobile like that too - for everything, including gaming.
So I found a wireless KEYBOARD FOLIO CASE reviewed by someone else today and haven't tried it yet but here's the info on it (I am cross posting this data on the keyboard-case threads for this Shield tablet, on xda here, in case people find it useful):
- I came across another wireless case option (by ZAGG, it's pricey but looks very good) from a youtube post about case options for the nVidia Shield Tablet, see:
Cannot post a url here, however here's the info to be sure it's the same video I'm referring to:
v=Obs3tK8onYQ
posted title is "Nvidia Shield tablet case options"
date posted was oct 16 2014
the poster id is wr3ckn89
- I only just saw it today & cannot report my experience yet; The zagg website can show you the local retailers that carry their stuff. Only see 1 seller so far on amazon, with ridiculous wait time, and another with a 2nd 8" model specified for samsung... The zagg site does not yet list nVidia Shields, but they have an 800 number. After looking at the website, I called Zagg customer support & talked to a real person who knew the product.
- Specific model: There is only one model that fits the new nVidia Shield tablet 8", with suitable cutouts etc. - it is the "AUTOFIT" for 8". The other model for 8" tablets won't be right.
- You can find it at retailers, but you can get a 10% discount by calling them to order directly
- It ain't cheap, but it has a 1 year warranty and tech support.
- The keyboard is not backlit (they only have one model of their wireless keyboard cases that does have a backlit keyboard at this time) - BUT they are working on backlit keyboards for their other models including the AutoFit, yay.
Zagg Autofit 8"
So I went to best buy and picked up the Zagg Autofit 8" and it's such an exact fit you would think it were an aftermarket device specifically for the shield. Pairs up nice, and does what you would expect from a bluetooth keyboard. As noted in the video review that was linked above, the stylus is not accessible, and for the most part, neither is the power button. I'll probably be using a file to shave a small amount of the case down so I can access both items.
Just to be clear, the stylus is in no way accessible without detaching the tablet partially. The power button, for my sized hands, is not accessible. Unfortunately, I did not have the luck of the video reviewer in being able to use it with fingertips. Must be these giant paws of mine.
I've also paired it up with the Razor Orochi, and can now play MMO's remotely using my tablet. Looks great, full features. etc.. :victory:
maybe the Belkin keyboard would be useful?
http://www.belkin.com/uk/F5L112-Belkin/p/P-F5L112/
however, it's a separate thing rather than converting the tablet into a mini laptop
my wife has one of these keyboard cover/cases with a slot so it becomes a stand
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TECHGEAR®-Bluetooth-Wireless-Keyboard-Samsung/dp/B00FRHKRO0/ref=sr_1_1
that one is specifically for the Samsung Galaxy Note, there are variants for other tablets such as Nexus 7 and others, but I couldn't find one for the Shield tablet
looking too
while looking for some nexus 9 accessories i came up with this
DETROIT IV KEYBOARD from portdesign dot com
maybe it could fit on a nvidia shield too ?
hope it helps
Sometimes those cheap ones from ebay work very well
I had gotten this little usb keyboard for (probably) $19 a few years ago for my Nexus 7, but it fits the Shield Tablet like a glove. Makes it a mini laptop. Has a sleep key and it just works perfectly with usb otg adapter! I'm delighted!
