[Q] Battery charging to 100% ...after rooting - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi, everybody. I'm new in here...
So, here is my (first) question: here is what I did:
- I have rooted my X10 Mini Pro (using z4root)
- removed some apps in the phone (mainly pre-installed games)
- removed the stock calendar app, and replaced with the default "google" one, using the suggestions in this forum (thanks!)
Now, I noticed that my battery is always recharging to 100%. I know this is not "normal", since the manual states that the battery will start un-charging as soon as it is fully charged, so it is normal to find it below 100%... and this is the way I found it before rooting...
So, is there some issue with my phone? Did I uninstalled "something" useful to manage the battery charging (is there an app for that, anyhow??)
Thanks for any help
Marco

Hey, I don't know if it really always has to be less then 100%. I've used my phone a while before rooting, and then the phone charged till 100% also. I've configured it close to what you have and easily get 3 days. But mostly I recharge after 2 days.
See more info about battery on the wiki:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Xperia_X10_Mini_Battery#Save_battery

my 2.1 is also rooted, when it gets to 100% it normally beeps. I haven't noticed it go down after that but I normally unplug it straight away so probably haven't paid much attention...

Novama, i want to do just what you did: root the phone, remove apps change calendar. But, i have a problem.
I used both z4root and superoneclick and they both state that they have rooted my phone (Xperia mini pro, 2.1) and i have 'superuser' app but phone is not rooted? Fot example, when i connect with android commander it says 'not rooted'.
What am i missing?
Thanks in advance.

ppirate and projectsome: thanks for your answers. Actually I usually recharge overnight, so I can't know the exact time when it's fully charged. But, in the morning, i find it at 100%.
pericamikica: not sure I'm able to help you, as I'm quite new in here... What I did is installing z4root, and using it to root the phone. Then I installed Titanium backup, that worked fine....

[Q] Galaxy S2 display wake up in sleep mode

Hello!
My problem: I push the power button short on my Galaxy S2 to go sleep mode. The screen is goes black, the phone went sleep mode. I leave it on the table and I see the display is light up for 1-2 seconds and then off. This happening for 4-5 times then the sleeping continues for a long period.
What causes this problem? What can I do against it?
I've ben uninstalled almost all later installed programs, stay only stock apps +Titanium Backup, SPB Shell 3D, Dropbox, iGO, Adobe Reader, LogMeIn and Superuser (packaged in DoomLord's Easy rooting toolkit - that I've ben used to rooting my phone). Factory unlocked, rooted phone. All mobile data connection disabled - aviabled network connections are wifi and USB. I'm not using live wallpaper.
I think one of the apps try connectint to internet at this time, because when I turn on the wifi I get an application advise.
Android version: 2.3.4 Gingerbread
Build: GINGERBREAD.XWKI4
Any solution, suggestion?
(sorry my bad english)

Same problem here. Sometimes when i put the phone to sleep, after a short period of time the screen turns on, and stays so until i put it again to sleep or wait until the timer (i use 15 seconds here) to power the screen off. This happens with or without wifi/3g so i think that's not a problem with an app trying to access internet.
Other annoying issue is when i'm charging the phone, sometimes when it reaches 100%, the screen turns on to say that's full charged, and continues on like.... forever. I noticed that when i put the phone to charge before sleeping and mornings when i go take the phone off the charge, the screen is already on for a long time.
Im using Stock Frankestein ROM 2.3.6 XWKK5 with CF "stock" root Kernel, with out Set CPU or any other Governor. Also using stock launcher.

i have a similar issue , opened a thread here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405606
also added logcat , you can see the process thats trying to run multiple times , and wont stop until i press something .
this is very bad .if this happens at night , your phone might stay with screen on for hours , with the same image , the image will burn onto the screen eventually .
i'm running 2.3.6 KK5, siyah kernel , go launcher ,pattern lockscreen .
Thank you for hints guys!
I think I find it! I use SPB Shell 3D launcher. In the settings of this app checked the 'using mobile data network to download weather informations' (or something like). I unchecked it and this effect was gone - at least last evening... Now I using wifi and reinstalled all applications like before and now no ads.
But this means I think well - an application try to access internet (with GSM data connection) but the service provider denied, beause I've no subscribe.
So I advocate for you to search something settings like this in your apps.
i have that issue as well..i tried few different roms and kernels but no luck. so its hardware issue i think.. .
Used to happen to me a lot, until i installed Go launcher and Go locker.I know its not exactly a solution but at least its working, plus anything else than the stock samsung lock screen is soooo much better.
And the end... Uninstall all apps which are using ads whit AirPush technology. How do you know which are they? The AirPush Detector helps you find them - search on Google Play it's free!
Thanks for your attention!

[Q] S2 Software(?) Issue Help

Hey guys,
I've been reading the forums for the past few weeks and have been enjoying the discussions here, yet not having too much to add (constructively). Apologies if there is a thread on this already. I have done a couple of quick searches but nothing came up that seemed to fit the bill.
I got in this evening and took my S2 out of my pocket to find something wrong with it. I'll explain below. First of all software details:
Baseband Version:
I9100XXKI4 (up to date as far as Kies is concerned - stock ROM)
Apologies in advance if I'm missing any important information (I'm trying to sift through and try pick what I think are the relevant points).
Issue:
I felt my phone vibrate twice and took it out of my pocket (expecting a text). Instead I found the "Desk Clock" part of the stock "Clock" app flashing on and off the screen. When I tried to close it I came to the lock screen, unlocked it and then the desk clock opened again. It reloaded every time I attempted to close it. I tried to end it using the task manager but it didn't show up on the active applications list. I restarted the phone.
When I restarted it didn't seem to load properly with app icons all over the screen and the home screen numbers in the middle of the screen. I have a screenshot which I'll try to upload later. I restarted again.
This solved the arrangement issue but didn't stop the desk clock popping up. I also became aware of another problem. The battery was showing 12% (down from ~35% it was showing before - when checking battery usage). I plugged it into my laptop via the USB lead I have (which I had used earlier in the day to charge it). It didn't recognise immediately that it was charging. I swapped to AC, it started charging.
It then started showing "driving mode activated" and asked me whether I wanted to complete the task with UlysseSpeedometer or Voice Talk. I didn't press anything. When I pressed back it then asked me again a few seconds later. I restarted the phone again.
This time it showed 37% battery! I switched to the USB charger to try to back the phone up. It had trouble connecting but did eventually. I left it perfectly still as it tried to back up but failed twice partway through doing so.
Recent changes:
Only real changes are installing Super Compass today, which when (re)reading reviews didn't seem suspicious. I have uninstalled just in case.
Additional information:
I updated to 2.3.5 through Kies about a month ago (the first time it was available for me after checking for updates every few weeks - I have friends with the same phone on 2.3.4 and 2.3.3). Since then the countdown timer on the clock app sometimes shows the preprogrammed 1 minute countdown even when I have a timer running. The timer alarm still goes off at about the right time (haven't tested it properly) though.
In addition to this I have customised the apps that stay at the bottom (can't think of the terminology at this time of night) by swapping the Phone for GMail. Every time I restart the phone the GMail app is removed but the Phone app doesn't replace it. On a similar note I keep getting asked to choose my default PDF reader after ticking the box to select it multiple times.
My thoughts:
It appears to be a software issue to me. It's late now but tomorrow I plan to attempt to back up again (perhaps just by copying all the files on the phone using Windows Explorer if need be) and attempting to reinstall the firmware through Kies. If that doesn't work I'll do a factory reboot. After that I'll contact my carrier (O2 UK) to get some support.
Question:
I was wondering whether anyone has any insight, has experienced similar problems, or has any other advice regarding this?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer
Regards
T
It sounds like it might actually be a hardware fault - basically what's happening is that something on the phone (whether hardware or software related) is triggering it to think it's being connected to a dock. The desk clock is what pops up as soon as you put the phone in a Samsung desktop dock and car mode similarly pops up when you use the vehicle dock, so there may be something funny going on with your phone's connecter that leads it to think these events are happening. (The weirdly arranged home screens tie in to this, as they can be a slightly buggy result of unplugging the phone from the one of the docks while in landscape mode - the launcher tries to load the home screens in landscape and just makes a mess.)
As a bit of a bodge-job fix you can install an app from the market called 'NoDock' if you're rooted, as this stops the phone ever being triggered in to dock mode, but to be honest id say your best bet is to speak to O2 or a Samsung service centre about getting it fixed or replaced!
Anyway, I hope this helps and you manage to get it sorted - I don't know what I'd do without my Galaxy S2!

Hello, quite a late night here as well but I'll try to give you my insight (and then slam myself to the bed )
It seems that the widget in your device went corrupt and perhaps then some more... I recommend backing up your data and then doing a factory reset and eventually re-flashing thru kies (come to think of it, i don't really know if KIES supports full-wipe reflash ). Also, for customizing the quicklaunch bar, use GO Launcher EX (free from the market) - its customizability far surpasses that one of the TouchWiz
If a factory reset doesn't help, you can help yourself by reflashing the original firmware by yourself via ODIN (but be sure to read tutorials and know your firmware first!), you'll find all the needed information here
Hope you get your problem resolved

Thats the modem not the firmware .

Rule one is backup data and factory reset the phone then test .
Follow that with a Kies upgrade if available .

[Q] Severe start-up problems with Xperia Pro - Battery ? BIOS ?

Hi Folks,
i guess my Xperia Pro (= Xperia Neo + keyboard, Android 2.3.4) is dying on me, it doesn't start anymore. I am actually not quite sure if this thread should really be here, as this may well be a general problem with SONY Xperia's, mods feel free to move it if so.
Here is what is happening:
Before, when i shut down the phone and connected it to the charger, a kind of BIOS screen flashed up shortly after that, showing 'SONY Ericsson' and then some simple graphics displaying the loading status of the battery.
Now, if i shut down the phone normally, these BIOS screens are not there anymore, and subsequently the phone can also not be started. Here is what i have to do get it working again:
- pull the battery
- wait for 5 - 10 mins
- connect the phone to the charger with NO battery inserted
- wait for the 'SONY Ericsson' screen, then insert the battery quickly
The phone will then startup normally. The following potential problems were checked:
- battery is fully loaded
- SD card removed, to no avail
- SIM card removed, to no avail
Phone is rooted, and has a 1 GB EXT3 partition on the SD card as ROM extension (SD Link).
Strange enough, the phone is also sometimes not correctly recognized on my laptop. If that happens, also SONY's support program for Windows, called 'PC Companion 2.0', is unable to connect to the phone when on USB.
What could that be ? Is my battery dying on me ? That's highly unlikely, because the phone is only 3 months old and i can run the phone for 3 days without recharging, if necessary (Thanks to root, removing facebook and the like, and the app 'SetXperia').
On the other side, the missing recognition from my Laptop would most likely indicate a problem with that BIOS being loaded from the ROM, no ? Do ANDROID phones even have something like a BIOS ? If so, is it made by the phone manufacturers ?
Thank you for helping me out, as i have rooted the phone i can not easily send it to service.
Regards
Christian
ADDENDUM / 0% battery problem related :
It may so happen that my problem is somehow related to the fuel gauge problem reported in this thread here, but i never experience a 0% loading state ? My batter never goes lower than 30% typically, and the restart problem will also happen if the battery status was showing 98% when i am shutting it down. However, it seems that the guys suffering from this do have a similar problem, i.e. the KERNEL not booting when they try to switch on the phone ?
Is it possible that some hardware part in the phone checks the status of the battery, detects it as too low and refuses to start-up, even though the battery is actually full ? But then, why doesn't it start with battery inserted when i connect it to the charger ? I first have to pull the battery, then it will start ?
ADDENDUM 2 / Power Saving App SetXperia messing with CPU clock:
As mentioned above, i am using the app 'SetXperia' to save battery. In 'default' mode it will constantly vary the CPU clock according to real need, in order to save on battery. Can this app confuse the fuel gauge, and my battery show it is fully loaded, while in reality it is almost down ?
Sounds to me like you removed an app that you shouldn't have. This happened to me the first time I rooted my Xperia Pro. Ended up in an endless boot loop.
The fix? Factory reset of the phone via PC Companion. There's information on exactly how to do it in PC Companion.
After it's reset, you can re-root it. Then be more careful about what you remove.

Hi, thanks for the input, but i am pretty sure this is not the case. Here is what i removed, using Titanium Backup:
SONY Sales Demo
Facebook 1.7.1
Facebook Setup 2.0.A.0.2
Facebook Calendar Sync
Facebook Extension 2.0.13
Facebook Notification Publisher 1.0
Facebook Post Viewer 1.0.A.0.3
Fun & Downloads 2.2.3
Moxier Pro 2.4.0
Music Unlimited 1.0.2
SEMC Facebook Proxy 1.0.A.0.7
Games and Applications 1.0.A.0.6
Street View 1.7.0.4
Twitter Extension 2.0.9
UEFA.com 1.0.0
Video Unlimited 1.2.0
Xperia HotShots 0.1.1
Anyhow, i have made a backup of all of them in Titanium before de-installation, so i could restore them if you really think that any of them could have an influence on whether the KERNEL (BIOS) will start after being shut down ?

[Q] Phone powers off randomly. SOD? (Logs attached)

Hello everybody. I'm new here and new to Android
I read similar posts but I couldn't find a solution that works for everybody. Replacing the phone is the most solid solution I could make out.
I've recently bought a new Lenovo A830 phone on which I flashed this ROM. Everything works fine except for the random power off. I read many posts about this and it seems it is quite a common problem with no clear solution.
What happens:
1. Most often it is off in the morning, forcing me to use the old phone as an alarm clock
2. I sometimes happen to find it off on the table, during the day
3. Happens even when the battery is 50%+
4. I can only turn it back on by removing the battery. After this, the battery shows normal levels (whatever I would expect it to be).
Reading the "Tutorial: How to properly post a bug" post, I decided to export the logs when this happens again. I used the SysLog application from the store. I had it installed, waiting for this to happen. As soon as I put the battery back in and restarted the phone, first thing I did was to export the logs.
I've attached these logs. I hope there is somebody who could interpret them and give me an idea of what's happening, maybe even a solution.
Thank you.

Keeps saying Wrong PIN when pin is correct

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, last night it decided to tell me my PIN was wrong and would not unlock (I've had the same PIN for years so I know for a fact I was entering it correctly) I removed the battery and it let me unlock my phone without a problem. If I tell the phone to lock and unlock it right away it will accept my PIN without having to pull the battery.
I have my phone set to lock after 1 hour of inactivity
I use ToucherPro which I can also use to lock my phone by selecting the feature in Toucher
I use 3 xda - x tether, snapprefs, lucky patcher (not fully activated, not sure if this is considered xda)
I keep my phone data and wifi off so I am afraid that removing the battery will stop solving the issue and I will not have access to my phone at all.
This morning it did it again - once again I pulled the battery and it worked fine.
My phone is rooted and unlocked for carrier, it currently running 4.4.2 (I cannot do a software update due to it being rooted) I bought the phone unlocked and rooted so I have no idea what root was used.
I have had the phone over a year now and have never had a problem like this till now.
I don't know if this applies at all but lately I've been getting a notification about "SE for Android has been disabled. Restart device to fix" I've done this, multiple times but each time I pull the battery the notification comes back BUT since I've had a problem with the PIN it has not gave me this notification again.
If I had to pinpoint when I started to have odd issues with my phone, it was when I downloaded and installed Freedom Patcher months ago. I uninstalled the app the same day I downloaded it - I do not recall exactly what Freedom did that made me uninstall other than it didn't work for what I was trying to use it for.
I have run avast antivirus on my phone - it says everything is good. I would like to avoid a hard reset. I have snapchat and to use snapchat on a rooted phone is very difficult as they have updated their security so it would require me creating a new account - I also like my root access so I would not want to lose this. I will try what anyone recommends but hard reset is only once I hit rock bottom with this issue.
I have the same problem, and have never used freedom patcher. A simple restart lets me enter my pin.
