There's an app called.
SCREEN FILTER.
In the app market. You have to get it. You can even choose custom settings depending on your night time eyeball needs.

Hope it helps you as much as its helped me. I was going blind.
Cheers!

Some more info:
App puts a matt screen (that is adjustable depending on need) over your current screen regardless of what you have on there. It is an app that is INDEPENDENT of your phone's brightness control. (THIS IS Absolutely !!!! $$$$$$)
Second, IT IS FREE!!!!!!!

CHeers,
This is amazing. Been wanting something like this 4EVA!
Would this save battery by any chance?
Sent from the almighty Vibrant!!!
LOL u guys must be old.. or vampires... I love the amoled brightness....
This is so great, I can use my phone at night now! Just need a scheduler to turn it on past midnight hehe
hows battery life with this???
Re: Posts pertaining to battery life.
*I use this app exclusively at night with all the lights off. meaning, I'm vampiring playing Angry Birds, NOT SLEEPING. LOL Hahahaha... I should be in bed.
Conclusory: I am IN BED !!! It's just that I'm not sleeping.
I know, i know... long winded answer to your question.
The bottom line is this-> I don't have the screen filter on enough to know whether it makes a difference in battery life. My guess* is that YES it does make a difference. The reflective light that is emitted from the screen is a lot dimmer when the app is ON.
Common sense would say : Yes this app does save battery. I only say yes (cautiously) because our SAMOLED screens are not conventional Emissive LCDs whereby light is shown from behind it. Each pixel is in fact turned On/Off. So having a resulting dimmer screen than the factory pre-set at the lowest setting leads me to believe that the pixels are emitting lower levels of light. This is of course, just a conjecture.
So, my ultimate answer is: Why not just try it out and see if you like it/helps you/reduces battery usage?
Answer may not be satisfactory to your liking, but what do you have to lose? Just try it out.
Cheers.
*Sigh* caught me again. Yah, you can call me grampy. I get it all the time.

This is excellent. First brightness app that actually works in the browser! And I think I've tried them all.
Me too. Me too!!! I was about ready to wear sunglasses while going to sleep. I have this really nice pair that I get from my eye doctor (I'm older than she is). It's a roll-up style piece of plastic that just sits on your eyes. It is an excellent product for people coming out of full blown eye exams that require pupil dilation.
Yeah* I know. Hey, I'm old school. What can I say. *(puaha more like "old fool")
But it works.
But good thing I found this.

Oh my goodness, tell me everything about those sunglasses.
This thread is no longer about dimming the screen, it is about procuring these rollup sunglasses.
EDIT: After googling "rollup sunglasses," I've come to realize that cheap plastic comprise the majority of them. Considering that plastic is a generic term for any of a large group of polymers, if anyone can recommend rollups made from a better plastic, I'd appreciate the info.

Thanks for the tip. I'd rather have the option to change on the fly though. Auto anything just bothers me when there's so much interaction with apps/games/schedules/emails/ the list goes on. But thank you nonetheless.
Haha. Fruit Rollup sunglasses. Great production like I said. Thing is, I know a little about plastics and coatings. Most of the technology behind optical correction lenses is premised under the theory that the lenses are rigid. Having other materials/coatings/technology in rollup lenses doesn't seem to be workable without serious degradation to optical clarity or longevity.
But I will be on the lookout. If I find anything, I will let you know.
On a sidenote. Don't threadjack!!! Okay, okay, I concede, I brought up the pictures first, so I am to blame.

Wow, you guys must never get eye exams. Those are given away for free after getting dilated. I get one everytime I go in for an eye exam and just throw them away after using it. They are pretty ****ty and pretty ugly, and they announce to the whole world "hey I just got an eye exam."
They have been around for years.

Yup, these are what I usually get at the nicer optometrists. Haven't gotten anything but a "good luck" from any Lenscrafters.
Finals has my sleep schedule completely flipped the past week so I've been using this app nonstop at night and can attest that under Settings>About Phone>Battery Usage the display has been using a smaller portion of my battery than before, but not by much (~85% to 80% with filter at ~50%).
There is an issue inherent to OLED screens (I think). Banding becomes very apparent at lower brightness, which I believe is because the diode is then set to display a smaller range of shades since this range may be tied to brightness. This isn't an issue with LCDs as the panel in them would not be affected by brightness, which is supplied by a white LED underneath the panel.
Fortunately, that's a compromise I'm willing to make for nighttime use. Does anyone know of a way to lower the brightness on the capacitive buttons? They're a LOT brighter than the screen at the setting I use. I could even stand to turn them off completely. Doubt any Vibrant user would forget where/what the buttons are after a day of use.

If you are viewing this thread, hopefully you haven't bought the Evo 3d just yet or are still within your 30 days. I just wanted to share my experiences with the Evo 3D to help others avoid the headaches I have had with a few visual defects on some Evo 3d's and also an operational defect. I would recommend inspecting the phone for these things before you leave or before you'll be outside your 30 days and offered a refurb. I made the mistake of not looking things over at the store, and it took me 2 replacements to finally get a phone that didn't have these defects.
Please Note: I'm a very picky person, so I always check my new phones for defects and eye sores before I get to the point where I am unable to resolve the issue within 30 days. Some of the things that I have an issue with may not be a big deal for others. Many people are happy with their phone even with a minor defect, but I feel if it's brand new it should be the same quality as a brand new phone.
If your opinion differs on what matters and what doesn't, don't bother trying to debate. The purpose for this post is to help others spot minor defects that may be an eye sore for them personally.
Pin Hole Size White Dot near Capacitive Buttons
-While this may not be a big deal to some, I found it a rather annoying eye sore while using your phone in a dark room or when your bottom buttons are lit up.
-This shouldn't be too hard to spot, just make sure that your buttons are lit up. Usually you will have to cover the sensor along the top of the phone if you are not in a dark room to get the buttons to light up. See picture below for example.

Dead Pixel's on Screen
-Once again just a minor defect that is common on LCD screens, but if you are watching a movie it can become rather noticeable.
-The easiest way I found to check for this is to install "Dead Pixel Test" from the market. This app will go through several solid color screens which will help you spot a dead pixel if there are any.
Power/Sleep Button Activates with a Minor Touch
-Could be a possible issue if the phone is in your pocked and button is activated, your phone may turn off and you wouldn't even know it.
-The button should have somewhat of a click to it when your press it. Try gently putting your finger on the button without much pressure, and see if the screen turns on/off.
Dust Particles Under Screen or Glass Covering Camera's
-May cause pictures to appear fuzzy if you have dust under the glass, and well the screen that's self explanatory.
-Could be difficult to spot, just look from multiple angles to spot any dust.
Red Trim That Surrounds Camera Glass is Lose [Reported by: mayfield103]
-Only have seen this mentioned a few times, but could be a big eyesore if it comes out. I would guess that this issue stems from the rear cover on the phone not being taken off carefully but check anyways.
3D/2D Toggle Button is Wobbly or Lose (Fairly Common Issue) [Reported by:dirkyd3rk and a few others]
-This is more so just annoying when the phone vibrates so does the button itself. Could be a problem in the future though if the button actually pops off from being slid back and forth a number of times.
-Easiest way to check for this would be to just slide the toggle, if it has give before fully locking into 3D or 2D then the button is probably faulty. You may get weird looks for this but if you shake the phone you can also hear it as well.
Screen is Slightly Tilted to Either Side [Reported by: DeMiNeO]
-"It's almost unnoticable if your not looking at it, but then drives you mad once you find it".
The Infamous "Light Bleed" Along Bottom and Slightly Up Sides of the Screen
-This has been reported and debated by quite a few people. Some say its light bleed, while others say the Capacitive buttons are just too bright. This just appears as a slight glow between the side of the screen and the frame of the phone along the bottom. Those who had the OG Evo know exactly what this looks like.
-If you have access to a decently dark room this shouldn't be hard to spot, wake the screen and look along the bottom edge of the screen.
Picture borrowed from: itsallsubliminal
-"You can see if it effects you easily by looking at the upper right corner of your phone. If it looks tilted, you have the issue".
These issues seem to be isolated, so don't let this sway you from buying the phone. I am very satisfied with my phone I just wanted to provide a thread for such issues.
Hopefully this will help some people out and prevent multiple trips to the Sprint store for a replacement. As I said before, some may not care about these issues but if you notice the little things I would recommend checking for these defects. If I missed something else just post the issue and I will edit the OP.

No problem, most of these have been posted already in different places but just figured one thread would be a little easier to find instead of doing all the digging.
Only thing I noticed on mine is that dot u pointed out its a cosmetic thing not a defect more like a ant tit of a spot can't see it unless u rape your phone with your eyeball other that my phone zero issues no problem with pixles or leakinglight which people claim they have its not leaking just bright ass buttons .
2d3d button wobble slightly no issue no yellow tint either . I'm not picky unless you get white spots like the EVO had 2 months into the brandnew phone that sucks .

Awesome! Thanks for posting. Also another thing I have noticed is a minuscule but noticeable small silver chip off the paint on the rim surrounding one of the dual lenses at the back. A couple of phones had it, MAKE SURE YOU verify that yours doesn't have it.

Yea, i got that man. Boy was i mad when i got home because i changed out the original 3D i was going to get because the top of the screen had a bump and the battery cover had some kind of stuff stuck on it. I thought i checked it over good but to my suprise, low and behold that scratch on the rim of the camera lenses a couple hours later when i checked again.

Check to make sure your screen isn't tilted either.
I've seen where some people's screens (And the Sprint Demo evo3d) had the screen tilted to the right a TINY TINY bit. It's almost unnoticable if your not looking at it, but then drives you mad once you find it. You can see if it effects you easily by looking at the upper right corner of your phone. If it looks tilted, you have the issue.

I hear you there, My OG EVO had the white splotch of doom too. It appeared in the lower center of the screen. I didnt know it was a well known defect until 8 months later, or that you could switch it out under the mfg warranty. So this is a good thread to have.
The kind guys at my radioshack swapped my evo 3d that had dirt under the screen in a few places. they didnt even look at me weird. They seemed to understand that I didnt want to look at that for at least one (possibly 2 years).
I Have light bleed when my captive buttons are not lit but my back light is on... my search button still glows from the leak... bothers me late at night when i am in my bed... "researching"

My EVO 4g had a couple of dead pixels, it was only noticeable when the screen was black. I dealt with it. I didn't want to go through the unrooting and rooting process again or worse...end up with a crappy refurb.
Design is my point of view and taste and not necessarily everyone's feeling.
There are still lots of folks here that may really want to buy Xperia S and either they can’t make up their minds or there are thing that it’s not solid for them to make the move. I was one of those people couple days ago but I usually do what it should be done so it gets out of my mind.
I have been owning some SE phone but Android wise, I started with X10 like many others here. Later I bought Xperia arc and still have it and now moving to Sony Xperia S.
I am not going to be technical about stuff right now but some design corners which had me wandered for sometimes.
I should say before and after purchasing Xperia S, I watched many videos available online and nothing (none) of them is anywhere close to what you get, so you can expect more
In video, box looks like Pizza box and wired but if you are a Sony’s product user then you are very familiar with quality and inside you won’t see any attractive pieces but simple and functional stuff which is great to see what Sony has done even to boxing as far as size, shape and coloring. Simple!

First when you take the phone out of the box, its bigger that what you imagined but in matter of 2 minutes, you will tell yourself that “this is how big the ideal phone should be” and arc looks like a baby to Xperia S but Xperia S looks and feels so powerful. Screen is gorgeous and big with lots of nice colors; I got the white one so that black screen stands itself out.
Housing is part of nature. If you happen to get the white color then expect some blending with nature and changing color. You put it in in your jean’s back pocket, it could get bluish in some part or I tried to kind of stick it into my arc’s case then all the black stuff rubbed against Xperia S and made it black but you could always wipe it off with no problem. Even if it sounds weird and something you don’t like, I really enjoyed how it could blend with whatever you do as a simple material.
Power button is extremely nice in size and shape with good functionality.
Notification light at left upper corner and it is wonderful to have it back there.
In white color, white tiny band around screen looks very nice.
Of course I am not big of flaps for HDMI and USB but it keeps your phone to look nice and simple and they are not hard to pop and slide right in.
In most of videos that I saw, they nagged about those three touch sensitive button at the bottom (whatever you call them) and that made me so worried if I may not like them. There were saying it’s hard to activate and it doesn’t work all the time but I think it is actually very useful. In Xperia ARC I didn’t like that Home button could take phone out of sleep but in Xperia S there is no such problem since only button to do that is power button on top which is well designed to do its job.
Those touch sensitive buttons are fairly nice, on each of them there is a visible dot (you see them in some angles) and with press of little finger on them you could activate them, nothing to worry about as they function as nice as they should.
And last but not lease, transparent strip at the bottom which is part of iconic looks of Xperia S is a well-designed part of the phone with lots of idea in mind. I could never imagine the day someone could bring some lighting architecture into a gadget. I think the execution is very nice with three lights lidding up the “back” “home” “menu” logos inside the transparent strip. Well-done.
Phone runs at decent speed and UI has improved drastically from what we had seen in arc and it is obvious that Sony is trying its best to gives us the best user experience which we should give them credit for not making us commercial guinea pigs by throwing new stuff without experimenting them first.
I think this phone is recommended for people that really like to have a phone with unique design, maybe its not the best high-end processing phone in the market but it is the best in its own class and functionality.
Comments and photo requests are welcome.

Finally, a decent size comparison with the Arc!
And... that does it for me. I couldn't decide between S and P, but now it's pretty obvious the S is too large. I just hope the P will be available stores soon
Would you mind taking a pic of the phones one on top of the other, screen-on-screen? Kind of like the one you took, but taken at a horizontal level... so we could get a better idea of the difference in thickness. Maybe place them near the edge of a table, so you can lower the camera to their level?
S and P are both 10.5mm thick, so the comparison will be valid for both. Cheers!

Thanks for posting the great pics. Can you clarify what you stated above? It almost sounds like you enjoy to see your phone get dirty. Not in the sense that it will display adult material, but rather in the literal sense, microscopic flecks of lint, dirt, or perhaps mud adhering to the surface of your device, discoloring it. That can't be what you enjoy, can it?
Hell yea it's not the high-end phone out there but the design wise it's the best, to be honest htc one line-up don't look great and too big and look like htc sensation xl.

Well, as I said it sounds really weird that I said it but in about 4 hours Xperia S got blue colors from my jean and black strips from a tight case. I have never touched material like it and it is very nice. Its easy to clean and maybe not the best choice for everyone but I really enjoyed how it really reacts against other material.
It also displays adult material in any sense.

best part is that it keeps the front part of the phone smooth and flowing since there are no physical buttons, also before with my X10 my phone would wake up from standby mode because the buttons would press in my pocket but now I don't have this problem.

best part is that it keeps the front part of the phone smooth and flowing since there are no physical buttons, also before with my X10 my phone would wake up from standby mode because the buttons would press in my pocket but now I don't have this problem.

early thoughts of DNA:
I love holding this phone, even at its size. With a case its about as big as I'd go, and the case makes the volume rockers more accessible and tthe power button easier to find.
The port cover is a *****. Im contemplating pulling it out, i noticed that after pulling on it almost to the point of pulling it out has made it easier to close. Inductive charging is nice but I use my phone allot while it's plugged in so its tough.
Screen is beautiful, 5 inch is a sweet spot for me. Any bigger is too big, and while I can deal with smaller, I like this size. I threw a 1080p movie clip on it, and while it looks amazing, the difference between it and 720 on a screen of this size isn't exactly noticeable. The only sore spot with the screen is that since many widets are a lower res, they look extremely tiny on the DNA screen, though I've only seen this with Beautiful Widgets and photo previews within some 3rd party apps. (see screenshots).
I don't mind the physical buttons, though I'd rather have all 4 in lieu of three, the extra space the menu button takes up on screen in some apps is annoying. Holding down the home key brings up Google Search/Google Now which is a nice feature. The biggest drawback of android recently has been not having a fixed search button, I use it ALL the time especially with now with google now (no pun intended)
I've noticed for some reason it has trouble staying connected to my WiFi at home, but at work its fine. I read one other complaint about this. Also, a few times this morning, I got a PUK locked - contact your carrier message. a reboot fixed it and it hasn't happened since this morning. I blame it on network issues.
I can't comment much on battery life because I've been really using the phone, setting it up to my liking, but I at least haven't been disappointing. I think this will last. I previously used an S3 and a rezound w/xt battery. Im thinking this lies somewhere in the middle.
Having only 16gb of storage was a bit of a toughie for me as I tend to download allot of random crap. But I'm hoping now that I've embraced the cloud, that between Dropbox for large files, Google music for music, and g+ for photo storage, I'll be OK. I just wont be able to have all the huge games I had installed before.
Overall, although not enough time to post a proper review, I'm happy with this phone. I've always applauded HTC's design and build quality. Simple yet solid and this phone is the same. Great stuff.

I have to agree, so far I have no complaints on this phone. I have a problem with the gel case I bought from Verizon because of the power button hole at the top. It doesn't make much sense to me why they would cover up the volume rocker and not the power button. It just seems awkward to push into a hole to hit the power button. "that's what she said"...
Not to get off the subject but...
Where did you find that battery left widget in the photo that you posted? I NEED one of those. Sorry...
I have the same complaint about the gel case I bought from Verizon , so I took a wood nail file to the top part surrounding the power button and made it more flush ... Save for a minor discoloration it works swell now

I've also found it to be a pretty good phone. I came from a dinosaur Droid X and I'm pleased overall.
My main issues:
1. Like the OP, I hate the microUSB cover, but I realize that it's there to seal the device, so I can deal with it. Also, the port itself in reversed from what I'm used to (DNA pins face the front of the device, rather than the back).
2. I did the standard Netflix test by watching Hugo last night. It looked amazing. However, the Beats audio must have a noise gate enabled, so portions of the film where the background noise fell below a threshold became completely silent. It was really annoying, so I turned Beats off. On another positive note, the phone never got hot in 2 hours of near-continuous watching.
3. The volume buttons are very easy to inadvertently hit while holding the phone for video viewing.
4. Bloatware. This is by far the worst I've ever seen. I had 3 pages of apps before I even downloaded a single one of my own. Won't be a problem when we have custom roms, but WOW. And on a 16 GB non-expandable device, too.

You can disable the bloat, one great thing that was added in ics
Love this phone so far. If I had any beef at all, it'd be that the vibration motor isn't very strong. But that's a very minor beef. Also the center power button has taken some getting used to. Love the speed of this thing, especially the LTE here in Houston which is amazing! (hit 42 Mbps earlier!).

Problem is, when you remove that bloat, you are removing it from /system, freeing up space there, that you can't touch. I'm all for removing bloat, but you won't gain usable space.

While I don't disagree, for some reason the S4's screen is still easier on my eyes than the G2's. (and I'm not coming directly from an S4) Maybe the G2's auto-brightness is just leaning towards being too dim, or maybe over-saturating a LCD screen looks worse than an over-saturated AMOLED screen, or maybe it's simply the text that the G2 uses... I don't know what it is, but I'm finding the G2's screen doesn't feel as nice to my eyes as the S4's. I know, I'm probably crazy...

I'm not going to argue here but when I do lay out information I know what I mean.I did a test and this reviewer did it too. They r the same!LG is oversaturating.Watch this before saying what not.Samsung doesn't over saturate.Their displays are produced like that by default and have a wide gamut. But they seem to be correcting that with the s4.
I can tell you what it is.. it's the glass and LCD combo they use. it's weird on the eyes. it's very reflective and can almost get a weird rainbow effect, and it has bad angle viewing.
this screen is almost identical to my rezound.. amazing screen but it had that weird glossy effect to it. the dna however was a diff type of screen apparently bc it didn't resemble that at all... and now the g2 does again.
basically it's hard to explain but htc uses a screen very similar to this in the rezound which is reflective and glossy whereas in the dna and one they switched to some different type. maybe it's the glass? idk. but the g2 does have a diff type of LCD screen to it.

also idk how you can say the s4 isn't over saturated. I have to set it down to the standard or photo screen setting bc their stock is the dynamic one that's super saturated.

If you don't want people to ask you why you've come to this conclusion or to even have the audacity to question your decision, then perhaps you're better off not posting something at all. Talk about a terrible post, essentially you say "Do what I tell you, and don't ask why".
You can see here that while the G2 display covers sRGB space nicely, LG have pushed the saturation on R, G, and B values. For instance, look at the two dots at the bottom in Blue. The next to last dot should be in the next to last square for accuracy. Instead, as R, G, and B values approach maximum saturation, the color approaches full saturation too quickly. Hard to explain but stare at the chart for awhile and you will understand :fingers-crossed:

Actually not hard to understand if you understand photography,
But from the chart you can see that the colors are also shifted in ways that will make the screen look strange or skin tones maybe too green or red.
So not only does it saturate too quickly but the colors are shifted.

Um, yeah. The screen looks just fine to me. I really don't care what charts say, I'm sitting here with my g2 next an s4 and the g2 looks less "cartoony" so I'm fine with it. I just thought I would mention that color calibration was available, not to start a lecture on color saturation.

Took me a while to get used to the LG screens when I first got my Nexus 4. I actually prefer them now to the S4 and the One. One thing I really like is that there is pretty much no space between the glass and the screen. I think it will grow on you. The screen looks brilliant with video and colorful backgrounds, etc.
Just wanted to stop in and thank all of you for all the amazing support given by you guys in this forum. I had the GS3 (best phone I had before the G2) and TouchWiz never bothered me since I immediately installed Nova Launcher. In fact I had the original Galaxy, the G2 and the G3. And I had custom launchers on all of them. I don't think TouchWiz is either a make or break decision.

Alright, quick review now that I've been using it for 2 days.
*please note this is purely out of the box experience on both phones, just to keep it fair.*
Camera: holy hell. The s5 camera is amazing. To me it just blows the G2 camera out of the water. So much faster auto focus, brighter & more accurate colors, instant shutter instead of having to hold the phone still for a second or two every time you slightly move the phone. Plus, all the camera features are amazing. Especially the selective focus shots. Looks extremely professional.
Responsiveness: once again, this is going to the galaxy. Everything seems to snap more in this phone, as if every app were made for it. Even using chrome browser feels like a day and night difference. The zoom is the smoothest that I have seen on any phone. This holds true with everything from gesture typing to just scrolling the home screen. That snapdragon 801 is a beast.
Battery: of course the G2 kills the S5 in this field. The 2800 mAh battery just doesn't stand a chance. Especially with the brightness of the superAmoled+ screen. I have yet to be able to get a whole day of heavy use out of it like I was the G2, but I expected this going in. The phone does a really good job of putting itself into deep sleep though. I am doing nothing to conserve battery (as usual), I have twitter, Facebook, Instagram, vine, ifunny, etc installed, so I was surprised when I realized that the phone was only dropping around 1%/hr with the screen off. But, I have also only had the phone 2 days, things are still breaking in. If anything changes I will come back and edit this.
Display: the display on the S5 is amazing. Holding the G2 side by side the resolution itself looks almost identical, however, the G2 does appear to show whites more accurate while the S5 displays black more accurate due to the magic going on in the amoLED display.
Gimmicks:
-fingerprint scanner: this one was by far the most frustrating to me. The fingerprint scanner was one thing that really caught my attention about this phone. Since it's Samsung making it I figured it would be as good or better than my old 5s. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, it isn't terrible, it works, it really does; there is just a technique to it that you have to teach yourself in order to do it one handed (the scanner is designed to be used two handed, one hand holding the phone with the finger on the other hand being scanned.) Now that I have figured out how to do it, I am proud to say that I can successfully use the scanner 95% of the time.
-IP67:I have not got to test this thing out against dirt yet (waiting until I go dirt bike riding again) but you best believe that within 4 hours of the beauty coming in the mail I was texting people in the shower. It really works! I was worried because the aux port is left open, but somehow they have managed to make it work! I have run it under a stream of water from the sink to wash the screen off (which, by the way, works wonders!) And I believe I got some water in the aux jack or something because the auxiliary did go a little faulty for about 30 minutes, but it seemed to fix itself!
Touchwiz:my only gripe about touchwiz this time around is that it looks cartoony to me, almost like a child's toy. The DPI definitely needs to be dropped a bit, that would make this display amazing. Everything else is fine. I love the Samsung "Gimmicks". The multi window, gestures, etc. work great as usual.
Final: The S5 is a great phone, it's lighter, it's faster (just enough to be noticeable), the camera is about as good as it gets on a smartphone, and it can read fingerprints and take a dive. If none of this matters to you, there is no logic in you purchasing the S5. But, if you are in need of a better camera or a dust and waterproof phone, you can't go wrong with the S5!

It isn't bad by any means, I'm just hoping for more and more each time I'm reaching for the charger. If I were someone who used my phone ~3 hours a day I would be absolutely in love with this battery. Unfortunately I'm not. I'm on mine usually 5 hours or so a day.

You have to know that these tests are done with pre-release firmware often, and G2 at least were suffering a bit from wakelocks at start. If they did a test now with KitKat it would blow the old value away, especially enduring.

The G2 already did very well, the tests attest to that. Just saying that the GS5 was supposed to be close to it.

I have never once in my life gotten as good battery life from Samsung phones, that are reported in tests. They always have some software crap that eats battery on the background and you can't get rid of it without rooting and that in turn flags Knox. Some friends who bought the S5 are saying the same - they have issues with the battery.
This is why I absolutely never trust battery tests unless they are done be real users and in real life for an extended period of time.

Lol, thats understandable. They do it in ideal conditions, ie excellent signal, 50% Brightness, no draining apps etc. Also AMOLED kills battery on web due to all white background as all sub pixels are needed for white. AMOLED uses more battery than LCD in such conditions by +100% or more. Not to mention at full brighness, and the screen burn to top it off after a few months which I have seen.
