I have been searching for two days for this, both here and elsewhere, so forgive me if it's been right under my nose and I failed to find it.
I am trying to find the stock Android boot animation that began with, I believe, Cupcake. That is, the Android logo in a sort of blue-hued metallic texture. I want this for my Droid. If anyone knows where I can find this, given Droidboots is ****ed, I'd be very thankful.
completely removing the "bootanimation.zip" will default you to the "stock" android boot animation
What are the chances that I would be looking for the exact same boot animation? I haven't had any luck either.

+1. Go into /system/media, at least that is where it is on the heroc, with a file manager, root explorer is a fine choice, and delete the file named bootanimation.zip. reboot and enjoy the classic goodness.

Yup this works.
Even works on Sense ROMs.
It must be built in default when no customized carrier one exists.
Where do I get a copy of the default / classic "Android" boot animation?
Can someone post it on here?

Worked in 2019...thanks!

I think his not kernel rooted, only system rooted like me, as for now, no way to change bootanimation with system root.
Hi members,
I know that there are ways to change the boot-animation, but I after I saw the complete Google Nexus boot up I liked It pretty much.
I already got the Nexus animation boot-up but I also want to replace the "Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100" logo for the Nexus "Google" logo.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance.
Just swap the boot logo png, it's in the same folder as the boot animation (system/media I THINK)

I don't quite understand you jje, theme section on XDA or do I need to find a theme section on my phone?
First one
bootanimation.zip
Of course youre phone needs to be rooted.
Then you take youre bootanimation, often "Bootanimation.zip"
Use for example "Root Explorer" app, that have superuser rights to
youre phone system. "R.E" is like "Windows Explorer" for rooted phones
When you use "R.E" to be able to copy and paste systemfiles, you need to
"Mount RW", Read-Write.
Copy the Bootanimation.zip, and paste it in youre phones filesystem,
/data/local/bootanimation.zip
A good indication youre in right folder, is that some "temp" file is also there.
Reboot phone, and voila!
Good luck man
PS!
A very good post is here

Thank you
I will keep this post updated and tell you guys if it worked or not.
from my experience you have to use a non stock kernel as stock kernels dont allow you to change the boot animation .. I may be wrong?
I am already using a costum kernel as you need to have a rooted device to actually change the boot-logo.
Btw, it works like a charm.
Thanks for the help you guys.

Where did you find the boot logo and how did you go about changing it??
I used AOKP Milestone6 ROM, it has fantastic boot animation, no unicorn animation. If i enable quick boot, i can see "Android" word contain boot animation. Now i use another ROM. So i like to apply that animation with this ROM. So if you guys have that zip file, please give me.
Thanks!
I think if you delete file "bootanimation.zip" from system/media/ it should display bootanimation that you mean

If u need that "android" word as boot animation then u need to delete bootanimation.zip from system/media/ i think.

Thanks friend your help!
If you want to search for new bootanimations you can google search images.
I have a folder strictly for bootanimations and one for bootsounds. I like to change up both from time to time.
Also if you find a bootanimation you like, you can also place a mp3 file as your bootsound, naming it android_audio.mp3 or boot_audio.mp3. Im runing AOKP rom and i changed bootsound to a song of Biggy acapella. when i turn phone on i hear biggy for about 45seconds. Im not sure if my post was informational, still new at forums so if u can please hit the thank you button (where-ever that is) lmao but give positive feedback please Thank you. Remember always to backup everything.:good:

I'm using CM10, and used several other bootanimations like the one in the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1734434
I worked when I flashed it in recovery, I also used just zip file that I placed in system/media, and changed permissions, they all worked. However I cannot make these strange files of samsung work. Any ideas?

I understand that, but when I place them into media folder and reboot the phone default android bootanimation shows up. I tried to change permission and no luck. Maybe it is just because I use CM10?
Here is my guide on how to enable the use of standard bootanimation.zip files in the galaxy s5
First you must be rooted with custom recovery. either CWM or TWRP will do.
1. Download THIS FILE Credit to anbech
(THIS FILE disables the above action.)
2. Flash the above file, reboot. done
3. Add the zip file of the animation you want to //system/media with the permissions RW-R--R-- Make sure to rename the zip file bootanimation.zip after you download it
This should let your phone use the bootanimation.zip files that stock android ROMs use (Tested on GM900f 4.4.2)
NOTE, this only covers the booting up animation. the ROM will will still use shutdown.qmg to do a shutting down bootanimation.
Again all credit for this goes to anbech the following posts ill be adding my collection of ZIPS.
Boot Animations
downloads removed until new ones found
reserved 2
reserved 3
Thanks for this! It was working great with 4.4.2 but doesn't seem to anymore on 4.4.4. The screen remains black during bootup.

I had it in the right place, system/media, but it would just boot a black screen. Idk man....I was able to change the .qmg files and the .ogg files and get it to work though, so I'm content with it. Thanks

remember the qmg files will no longer fucntion if the flash worked. so if you flashed and are somehow getting qmgs to work, then something went wrong. are you rooted?
