Hello everyone,
From yesterday i started facing a strange issue due to which i am experiencing serious battery draining issues.
My battery started draining 1-2% every 5 min in idle mode after i played a game named crazy fist . next day i factory resetted my phone. In idle now it is not consuming any power but when i do some work on my phone , it consumes alot of battery and it.drins like 1% every 2-2.5 min.
Charging time is normal. But discharge is pretty fast.
So i checked thr battery usage inside settings.and noticed that my display is consuming about 41% of the battery and android os arnd 13%. I am not sure qbout os usage but thr diaplay is consuming too much power. I think initially it used to consume 13-20(max)%.
Or is the usage correct? I am using sgs2 stock midel and have no intentions to root it.
Kindly assist and reply asap. Thanks in.advance,
Siddhanth
the display on the galaxy s2 does drain alot of battery if your using it for quite a while..thats what they call screen on time..my battery was draining fast and i panicked... when you do use your phone how long do you use it? say do you use to browse like for a good hour non stop?
if you was rooted i could of gave you some options but here is a link to help you read and give you some tips on battery life...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1234264
charge your phone fully and drain it without switching it off..charge it again without taking it off charger i say leave it for a good few hours...do the same thing for a few charging cycles and see what the battery like is after that..but check the link
But this strange thing happened to me aftrr 1month.
I wss never rooted.
I mean this is the first time my display is consuming 59-61% of the overall battery. is this normal and does it hsppen to u too?

i thought the same as you buddy. never realised it in the start when i had my s2 but then checking the battery usage and i panicked...its normal for the display to drain the battery alot..
change your brightness to auto and there is an option in settings and display where you can tick to have the display autoadjusted. thats for brightness..
or do what i do and have your brightness on the lowest settings and see how it goes from there...fully charge your battery let it say for 6 hours then let it drain till it dies down without any breaks and then charge it again to the max..do the same thing for a few times and check whats the battery after a few days...

when calibrated your phone you leave it on of course and charge it without any interuptions...when you let it drain with out any breaks like switching it on and off, once it dies down then plug to charge it.....it will charge and it will give you the battery icon...once its fully charged you can see by the battery when its fully green switch your phone and your good to go...

Thanks, i tried it todsy but it says root needed.
I have a stock rom. and i dont want to change the rom before my warranty period gets over.
Install BetterBatteryStats from the Android Marketplace. Run it and see if there is/are any app(s) gone rogue abusing CPU power other than the display.

If not brother provide me the link here.
hey guys,
i dont know if its allready been asked or smth.
but i dont know why (or if its normal), everytime i charge my battery up to 100 %
and pull out the cable from charger, the battery directly goes to 99%.
never hade this on other phones before...
It happens to everyone but doesn't affect battery life, but for some reason it really bothers some people and there is a few custom Roms that fix it.

New ota update fixes this. Also a desktop charger will charge the battery fully.

Yeah mine charges to 100% but few minutes after indicator goes green it drops to 99%.

allright, thanks for ur answers. thought my accu is broken
I recently flashed my phone using amon ra, and flashed to rezound zone red. While I enjoy it I find my battery life has dropped a ton. Any advice?
Well, you don't flash the phone, you flash a zip. If you are having battery issues, it is probably unrelated to the theme. Make sure you don't have any background apps running.
takes a few charge cycles for the battery to calm. if after a few days it's not improved then it must be usage related.
thanks

first time i've rooted and was freaking after a full charge with extended battery lasting me about 7 hours. So the Rezound Zone Red rom won't be crushing my battery then huh?

highly unlikely rom related unless it's a fairly new developed rom from a new dev who didn't inject the code for working battery tweaks
7 hours? That is about right with an extended battery.
curious

If that's typical why do I see people taking about having such incredible batteries like "6 hours and down to84%"? Is there a way to under clock or prolong battery at all? I'm consistently closing apps and have display down. Prior to root and flash was going all day on charge with out ever worrying.

Heavens no. 7 hours with normal screen usage.
I've been having some minor issues with my battery draining lately and it's not to do with the stats, I think the battery itself is broken.
Basically, it can be fine, then suddenly the screen will flicker and turn off. On turning back on, I can go from 70/80% to literally 0. I can then leave it off for a minute, restart and it will return to around 50.
I've done some ROM flashes over the last couple of months but I can't see that being a problem. So I've now gone back to Gingerbread stock rooted.
Do you think I need a new battery? Because I was going to get a 2000mAh anyway.
Cheers.

i suggest you do a full charge.
drain your battery up to 1% or (maybe you can drain the entire battery, i am not sure if this is advisable) and charge it until 100%
doing so will calibrate your Li-ion battery
I've had it over a year, and done a ton of calibrations.

Well, yes definitely.
This is 24 hours with quite heavy browsing; texts/web browsing/reddit/1hr of video. So yes, I imagine with minimal use (some calls/texts) it could last a week very easily.

I've never fully charged my phone the first time I got it (the 8hours charging).
Should I do it now? since I've started to experience battery drain with the 7.1.1 update.
I also asked the same question once. They told me it's no problem, but do a calibration just in case. If your battery still drains, you are doomed. I don't know why but some of us are expleriencing these weird drains that cannot be fixed while others get great battery life. Sadly I don't have much time to look into it

And how to do that calibration?
The past 2 days, I've let it to go under 20% then charged to the 100%

Just download a "battery calibration" app and follow the instructions. Also, I recommend not to let the battery fall below 20% and not to charge above 85% (Don't leave overnight ) But I think you already know that,

That's actually pretty good, I don't know why you said you had drain problems. Mine can last so much but only if I do a full charge, greenify the **** out of running apps , use it at low brightness and not use the screen much :/

Well I don't use that much of the screen, at home or work, I have my laptop, I only used my phone when I'm outside (not that much of time xD)
