Get a few odd looks with this big of a phone. I just need a chain and can wear it around my neck like Flavor Flav!

Sipdroid. How can u get an incoming number?
Get a number from ipkall or sipgate. People like to use either pbxes, sipsorcery, and/or sip2sip as a bridge between sipdroid and ipkall/sipgate. Then just install a gvoice callback app from the market.
Using sipsorcery, I can skip the gvoice callback, as they have gvoice callback script support.
i was never able to finish setting up google voice with my ipkall number. when it comes time to verify it how did you do that? how do you recieve the call to verify when it's not yet set up on the phone?
I had it set up first. You can push the google voice set up til later. Just set up ipkall, sip2sip/pbxes (I recommend pbxes, but its slightly more complicated), and sipdroid. Test calling there with any other phone and make sure it works on receiving calls.
Afterwards, you might have issues with tones for verifications. I had gizmo handy so i just put the tablet next to my speaker and pressed the gizmo buttons on the screen as if I wanted to call using gizmo. Skype or other devices/apps that generate standard tones should work too.
I followed this and it took care of the setup for me. You can call in and out with your google voice number. Sipdroid has the option to register at pbxes.org now.

thank you both for the info, time to give it another go
Anyone have any luck getting their bluetooth headset to work? I have mine paired but it doesn't get used in calls
From what I saw, that GV trunk for pbxes isn't for free account?

If you download sipdroid you can create an account with phbox for free. GV account is needed. Pretty decent overall.

This was the way I got it to work. It only takes a couple of steps (I have been messing with this all day). I am seriously thinking about trading in my phone for a wimax hotspot and using my bluetooth headset to talk so yes, I would have a 7 inch phone.
That never hurts.
For some reason when I saw that guide before you rementioned it, I missed the google chat checkbox.
Anyway, hrm, seems I have issues with it. Outgoing calls not having voice... Will have to figure that out.
edit: fixed.... had to reinstall and just manually setup my new account on my device... weird @[email protected]

Hello
I have been looking for Software for Pocket PC XDA which can be use as Answering Machine" and will serve as personal secretary. It will answer my calls, play prerecoded message of my choice and record a message for me. It has all the features of a conventional answering machine and maybe more.
like for example :-
Answering incoming calls after the predefined time
You can choose pick up time from 0 seconds up to 20 seconds
Playing one of the prerecorded responses to the phone line
You can record your own responses, download one from the internet or just send to your mobile phone via IR, bluetooth or MMS.
Recording a voice message
After "Answering Machine" will pick up the phone and play the response of your choice to the phone line it will start recording the message. You can set maximum incoming message length to be from 5 seconds up to 2 munites.
Pick up and Hang up are possible at any time while AM is answering the call
Even after "Answering Machine" started answering your call you can easily take control - just like with traditional machines
All voice messages are stored locally and are available at any time
That's the best part! You don't have to pay for your voice mailbox to you operator!
A special view allows you to manage recorded voice messages
You can browse, rename and delete your voice messages.
Caller phone number along with the date and time of the call are stored
With a single button (green key) you can call to a person who left a message.
Global indicator of the new messages
Even if "Answering Machine" is running in the background you can easily see whether you have new messages.
i know it does exist for other platform but unfortunately not for Pocket PC Windows Mobile

I have seen on their web site Support Section Question and Answer which include
Q: Can I get "Answering Machine" for ... mobile phone
but unfortunately the answer was
A: Answering Machine is available for Nokia 7650/3650 and 6600. Other mobile phones like Nokia 9210 Communicator, Sony-Ericsson P800 at the moment are not supported. However, in the future we're planning to implement support for these phones

Viber is an Android* and iPhone application that lets you make free phone calls and send free text messages to other users that have Viber installed. When you use Viber, your phone calls to any other
Viber user are free, and the sound quality is much better than a regular call. You can call any Viber user, anywhere in the world, for free and now also text them. All Viber features are 100% FREE and
do not require any additional “in application” purchase.
****************************************************************************************************
WHY USE VIBER VS. OTHER VOIP (VOICE OVER IP) SOLUTIONS
****************************************************************************************************
* COMPLETELY FREE AND WITH NO ADS: Viber and all Viber features are absolutely free and do not require any additional “in application” purchase. Once you and your friends install the free Viber application, you can use it to talk and also text as much as you want. Just makes sure all your friends get Viber! All you need is an Internet connection: 3G or Wi-Fi where available. On top of that, Viber doesn’t contain any annoying ads.
* NO INTERNATIONAL CHARGES: It doesn’t matter where you or your friends are, be it on the same network or in a totally different country. You can talk for as much as you want, for free. Just make sure your friends have Viber too.
* NO USERNAMES, PASSWORDS OR REGISTRATION: You know your friend’s phone number, so why bother with yet another username and password? Viber uses your phone number as your “identity” and lets you make free Viber phone calls to any of your friends that have Viber – using THEIR phone number.
* NO NEED TO ADD BUDDIES: Unlike applications like Skype, Windows Live Messenger or Fring where you need to “add buddies” and have them approve you, Viber behaves just like a phone. Just like you don't need to “add” someone in order to call them, you don't need to add your friends in order to call them on Viber. If you know their phone number, then you know their Viber number, and you’re ready to go!
* DON’T KILL YOUR VIBER: To make sure you always get incoming calls/messages notifications, we strongly recommend you to keep Viber running in the background. This doesn't drain your battery or use up memory and improves your Viber experience.
* SOUND QUALITY: Viber uses state of the art technology in order to make sure the sound quality you get is much better than GSM or a regular phone call.
* MUCH MORE COMING: We are hard at work bringing many more features to your Viber phone. More ringtones (and custom ones), wallpapers, location based services and more are all coming soon to Viber!
Anyone tried this, would love to know feedback.. Thx!
it dose not work FC all the time
Doesn't work on my 3g
I was looking forward to it working, i guess our only other "Phone Setup" is Google Voice..
It's working great. One drawback is it doesn't support Bluetooth headset.

I use the stock email app to check Yahoo emails via POP3. My question is: is there is any way to limit the range of days for the sync?
I hardly check my emails on my phone but I'm constantly sending emails out. My "problem" is that the stock app wants to download every email missing since the last time I synced, usually about a week's worth or so. And since it downloads from oldest to current, it can take a while.
Ideally, I'd love to be able to set the sync range to the last day or three days. I just haven't found that option with the stock app.
I've tried K-9 and another one or two that I'm forgetting (probably Enhanced), but I wasn't too crazy about them and stuck with stock. Didn't like Yahoo's email app, either.
Any suggestions?
The stock email app is indeed rather basic and kinda limited when it comes to certain stuff, so I'm not surprised at all if it can't do what you're asking.
I'm a little surprised you don't like K-9 though. Haven't used it personally (I hardly ever use any kind of email on my phone), but I have yet to see someone who was unhappy with it (or, well, at least until now... guess I just saw someone like that now, lol).
No suggestions then, since my suggestion would be K-9.

K9 is the best mail app for POP and IMAP. EnhancedEmail is the best for Exchange. I have tried and compared almost all of the email apps.
I'll give K9 another shot as I can't specifically remember what problem I had with it.
I still wish I could just give the app a date range. I simply don't need to access every email I've ever received. The stock app on Palm's OS had this feature and it was incredibly useful.
Edit: I solved the problems I originally had with K-9, namely figuring out how to create a shortcut that went directly to a specific inbox instead of having to click around to get to it.
Cheers!
Maildroid is my choice after trying K9. K9 didn't let me change ports if you have an IMAP/SMTP hybrid mail account.

I use Enhanced Email and have had no complaints. Great for all account types imo.

You might want to look at Touchdown also. I've been using the trial version and so far I've been impressed.
I ditched stock for K-9 also.
The only reason I didn't stick with K-9 was it wasn't playing well with the exchange server at work. I've not had any such problems with Touchdown. But for POP3 K-9 probably would've worked fine.
I'll give Touchdown a try tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.
I use AquaMail for my Yahoo mail.
Ever wondered how to make Video Calls or Apps that provide Video Calling Support to our Ace!
Note: If you're already aware of it, then just help others here to know more about it rather saying it a dumb thread etc etc
Time to get on board
I came across two Apps providing Video Calling Support to our Ace using our Primary(Back) Camera.
01) Tango App https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sgiggle.production
02) Vtok App https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skymobius.vtok
The part i love is that these Apps helps us not to go for another Phone or PC to do Video Calling.
As there is a saying, nothing comes up without compromise We have to compromise on one thing though that's either we can only see the other party or show ourselves to other part(these are not done as in other Phones like seeing and viewing simultaneously) as these Apps uses our Primary(Back) Camera.
Don't lose your heart though, remember atleast this is possible. Something is better than nothing
Lets learn something about these Apps Now
Starting with
Tango which has Chatting and Calling Facility uses your Mobile Number to chat and make Video Calls. Tango requires your Mobile Number for signup. Tango requires both Calling & Receiving party to use Tango which is not required in Vtok. UI in Tango is something i really love in it. Use it and feel it

Going forward to
Vtok which is completely based on your Google Account helps you to make Video Calls. Its not necessary for both the parties to use Vtok. As you're using your Google Account for signup, Vtok allows you to chat with your Gmail friends having Google Account. They can chat with you using their PC
Let me know your experience after using it and if you have any other App which helps us then feel free to share it with us here
video chat
download yahoo messenger from market. and the messenger video plugin it will give you video calling but u need a mirror .
Tango works fine on galaxy ace.
suggestion
stand in front of mirror and use skype haha
hit thanks

Dude, we need mirror when using the above mentioned apps too. Skype does not support Video Calling on Ace. Tango & Vtok supports Video Calling on Ace. Have not tested Yahoo so far.
I hope someone here has seen this issue so they can give me some advice as viber support has been very slow and next to useless.
Basically I have a just came from a Xperia Z1 (Viber working) to a Nexus 5 and put on my defacto apps of which Viber is one of them and straight away after entering the phone number it said waiting for sms activation and a couple of seconds after it pops up with 'error' on the screen and that is all it says.
Prior to this I have had many android phones and never had an issue with activating viber.
Troubleshooting wise I have tried all of the below and nothing so far works.
1. Tried activating on wifi and 3g
2. Tried my wife's number on my nexus 5 which gets past the initial country code and phone number screen and tries to send an sms
3. Tried my number on my wife's phone and get the same lovely 'Error' popup
4. Placed my wife's sim card into my phone and activation works so proving this issue is number specific not phone specific.
The screenshot of the 'Error' is below.

Viber support seem to of gone very quiet and it looks like a Viber rep does lurk around here so bumping the thread to see if they can help me out.
Word of warning guys if any of you like myself installed the Android SDK and emulator to try and teach yourself programming then make sure Viber does not get installed if you login with your google account.
Basically this triggers their 'system' into thinking you are a spammer and they then block your number so you are unable to use Viber ever again on any device you own.
Viber support are next to useless and it looks like I will never be able to use Viber again despite doing absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever.
Viber support is blocked your GSM number
Viber support is blocked your GSM number, because of Viber spam politics, or something like this. I have the same problem with one of my GSM numbers. From Viber support answered me that they will never UNBLOCK this number (Viber politics and rules) , I already change my blocked GSM number...
