Gps - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Updated to auxura 2.2 now my gps will not find my location. Any help?

Try downloading the GPS restore app from Samsung that is on the market.

I understand that will take it back to stock right?

It resets the GPS settings to the factory Samsung defaults. It has worked for some people, and I've seen an improvement after using it on a couple different ROMs. If that doesn't work, there should be some manual changes you can try that are listed in one of the stickies in the General section. There are also some different ones in the Development section, I think.

That did not work. Still does not find my location. Inside, outside with or with out wifi on. Need more suggestions please.

Help, XDA app crashes

Hello, I use the XDA app a lot and it always crashes when I post something, are the devs working on this? I am on a Samsung Vibrant, stock 2.1 w/ root and OCLF, thanks!

You should ask the devs, not us. It's a limited version of the Tapatalk app I believe. Try asking them. The full Tapatalk used to do that, the message would get posted, but it would FC on you. It's fixed now, but they might not have updated the XDA version.
If you are in an area where you are getting spotty 3g service, the app tends to crash when you move to a new topic. When you post, the app give a force close message, but doesn't completely shut down. The post does go through, but this is an annoyance. Don't know if anything is being done about that.
I will try with the official tapatalk app, also I am using wifi and it still crashes....

(Q) 3g hotspot

Any automated programs to hack the 3g hotspot app? The droids have the team black hat patcher that you flash via cwm. Shouldn't it be just as easy to do for us instead of the manual method on a pc?

Check in the themes and apps section for an app called Quick Settings. I tried it and can confirm the wifi hot spot in that apps works. However I have done the manual hack as well.

I thought that app only activated the hotspot app, not hack it

You can use qpst to adjust your phone settings. This is the hack you want, it works. You gotta follow some directions... search the forums here, or droidforums, you will find a thread with everything you need

I was asking specifically for a way to do it without the use of software on a pc and manually making the changes... including qpst... or anything software on occasion related... if possible

Browser

I'm currently using band 1.6.1 and if you can see the picture. Why does it make it look like I'm putting a password on a search bar? My wife runs the same rom and doesn't do it. I have done a factory reset. Reflashed. Anyone come across this? Thx

Maybe try a different browser just to see if anything changes, hasn't happened to me using xScope pro yet.
It's only their widget and mobile browser, its fine if you switch to desktop mode
try using a different browser like miren or dolphin

[Q] 6 bar signal mod?

Does anyone know how the 6 bar signal mod is accomplished? I have used xda search Google etc and can't find this anywhere. I know several devs have it in their Roma but would like to know how it was added. Thanks!

This should get you started. Make a backup, Download and flash! There are several to choose from. Now that I think of it, they might just be battery gauges. Good luck

ROM with no phone

I'm looking at upgrading to a newer phone next month and I was wondering if there was a ROM out there that didn't have the phone portion set in. I want my phone to be like a iPod so my kids can play with it.

take out the sim card
Yea I thought about that, I just don't want 911 called by accident, cause even without a Sim they could still call

I think if you were to freeze phone specific things it couldn't harm anything, but I recommend you go to froyo then do it, for the sake of battery or you could just put it in airplane mode then hide the phone related apps I'm sure that would disable 911 too

I have what you need, let me remove the phone short cut from the launcher and I can get you into a rom set up as nothing but a media player.
Should have around 50 megs footprint.
Let me know if interested.
Edit: I'll put it together and post it for everyone, tonight hopefully.
