[Q] droid 1 roms - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have done a bit of looking around on running roms on my phone, but just about everything i found is over 8 months old and apps used are no longer available. just looking for direction on updated apps or direction on running roms. i have a rooted droid 1 on version 2.2.1 build frg83d. any help would be great!
Thanks

So just install ROM manager, install the recovery and download a rom like CM 6.1 and flash it. Make sure you backup though. Try looking on youtube. That'll probably help you out more.

Have a Look in the Droid 1 section, yes the phone is old and developement is going slow at the moment

thanks, i did try rom manager but i was having problems yesterday with it. after your replies i tried it today and it is working fine now. thanks for the help.

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 SGH-T859 which rom?

Hello, I have the "4g" flavor white back T-Mobile version of this tab and with there being different flavors of the 10.1 I am not sure which rom to use. After rooting the phone and getting revovery installed CM downloaded and installed the wifi version of the rom. I thought I found the nightly thread of the tmo version but revovery wouldn't install it saying that the build version was wrong. So I have gone back to stock until I can get this issue cleared up. I think my build prop may be wrong in the device because com.phone.android force closes on boot on the stock rom (I think I need to reinstall stock). But I am still not sure which flavor of the rom to install. I want the CM ICS.
I am not new to installing and using custom roms. I have been doing this since the MT3GS and have been using CM on that since Froyo. I am currently using MT4GS and currently have the CM ICS alpha 4 on it. I am just a bit confused at this point since it is not cut and dry.

I have this one on now There are also CM9 nightlies on the CM site I believe but no issues with this other than camera. There is a camera patch also that makes the back camera work.

Here is the thread with the camera patch.

Not sure why not many people help on this device it's a very nice device and works great on the T-Mobile network but anytime I ask anything no one ever really answers.
This thread will help you get started

Thank you very much!! I think I have the wrong recovery installed which is causing all my issues. It is seeing my device as a wi-fi only device and not a tmo device.
I just got home a few minutes ago, and I had the wrong recovery installed. I got the right one in and everything is going swimmingly so far. Thank you again!
I wish there were subforums for every flavor instead of everything all mixed up. It makes it confusing when you are dealing with 80 different versions of the same device.

Help with rooting then installing Eclipse 2.3 on my stock dx2

I am new to the idea of rooting a phone but am at my wits end with this phone. My stock Droid X2 has become a lagging piece of crap and reboots daily along with numerous other glitches. Through searching for an answer I was linked to this site and the whole idea of rooting my phone. I have been reading on XDA for a few hours but this is all a bit overwhelming to me. Would anybody here be so kind to either explain or give me a little better idea of the steps I need to take to do this? I have seen the video from Tomsgt123 on how to root the phone however I am unsure of the steps to take from my stock phone to a fully rooted with eclipse 2.3 installed.
My phone is currently using 2.3.5 and system version 1.3.418
A lot of the step by step guides on here talk about SBF to 2.3.4 but I am a bit confused since they are older posts and it sounds as if its possible to root from 2.3.5 now.
I have searched quite a bit on here today but really am lost at the steps needed to be taken and in what order to do this.
I want a stable rom that is proven to be reliable and have read that eclipse 2.3 is among the best for this. I am hoping by rooting and installing this rom it might make my phone a little more usable.
If anybody has a link to a step by step guide or would be willing to help me with some advice I would greatly appreciate it!

Use this method to root and if you're going to eclipse 2.3 skip the sbf back to 2.3.4 and you should be good
I like the iso disk
don't be scared it's only a phone
ogd x d2g x2 sg3
old ladies ^
And here's a video that shows how it's done:

And so you know, Eclipse is the only ROM you are able to use on 2.3.5, which is probably the most stable. All the other ROMs on here will require you to go back to 2.3.4. I thought I would share that so you dont try to flash one of the other ones onto 2.3.5.
Thanks for the help guys...with your help I was able to get this done and am now running Eclipse 2.3
Phone is much more responsive and a joy to use!

Cyanogen MOD on Note 2 is a must-have apparently??

Heya guys,
I have rooted my Samsung Note 2 and it is running Stock v4.3, mainly because I wanted to use GREENIFY and Titanium Backup. When I saw one of my friends this weekend, he was amazed that I was still running the StockRom on a rooted phone, and couldn't understand why I haven't installed a CustomROM on it, then persisted to say that the best one to have on my phone would be CYANOGEN Mod, which has tons of features and once I done so, would never want to use the StockRom again?
Now obviously I'm clueless to all the ROM business, so was wondering if someone could fill me in on whether he is talking sense and that I should install a C-Rom, or just stick with Stock v4.3.
Many thanks,

[Q] Updated List of NC5 Roms?

I rooted a while back and have been using Eclipse as my daily driver ever since. I don't have the time to flash roms all the time anymore, I just need something that works. I have been having major problems lately and need to install a new rom, and I can't seem to find any information on NC5 compatible roms. I know there were only certain that were compatible a while back, I'm just wondering if there is an updated list or where I can go to get the most recent and stable rom.
If you happen to have a guide for flashing said rom on safestrap that would be appreciated too , although I'm about to go searching for that. Thanks!

Hello, New member, long time modder

Hello everyone, I just joined after installing 6.0 on my Asus tf201. I have flashed ROMs from hairybean up to 6.0 and back as well as bricked this poor tablet several times. I have also replaced android with various versions of Linux using other sites so I'm no stranger to playing with nvflash and fastboot. I can also do some how-tos if anyone wants, anyways I made this thread cause I have a weird issue, I downloaded Super SU twice and both times TWRP 2.8.1.5 (I might have the numbers wrong) just rebooted like it was a soft crash or something. I would post in the thread I got the ROM from but I don't have enough posts yet, would an older version work without issue or do I have to just deal with no root ATM?
The version of Super SU that I'm trying is 2.52 BETA as the post specified that one but doesn't say if an older will work. I look forward to having a great time here, and I welcome any and all feedback.
Thank you for your time.
Tiger
Tiger,
I'd just update the recovery to the latest Area 51 version. It's got a few new features that are pretty slick. From there, grab one of the SU's from one of Taconikki's Rom's. They worked for me every time.
O
I can use a howto which is current if anyone has one for flashing from stock.

If you still need a how-to Ill get started on it, if you do I just need to know if you have done any backups or anything in case you brick the tablet. Mine is currently running android 7.1, I havent checked to see if 8 is available yet (presuming someone ports it of course) and Ill even cover how to go back to stock if you need that info as well.
Thanks! I finally did upgrade it to 7.x and am waiting to see if someone gets an oreo build

I keep checking every now and then, but my tf201 keeps randomly rebooting, so it hasnt seen much use as of late. I am currently working on porting ubports (formerly ubuntu touch) to my galaxy note 4 though. I might try and get it on my tf201 eventually cause when I tried it on there it was butter smooth and tank reliable. I switched it back to android cause there were no apps at the time and the build has been abandoned since then, so who knows.
