I have an x10 mini pro, on latest update whichever that may be kind of new to the android scene

Hi,
I have been having this weird problem for some time now. When someone calls me, the phone does not always show the name of contact, only the number. The call log does the same also. Sometimes the same contact calls again and the name shows. I don't quite see where the problem is.
Restarting does solve it for some time but after a while this odd behaviour is back again.
Has anyone seen this before?

try 3 button combo if the prob exist u can try a custom rom orelse take it to service center as it might be a prob with the phone itself.
I would recommend to tru combo or custom rom and check if the problrm exist it seems to be a software related issue and not phone.
i hope u havent copied the numbers twice ,u may try exporting ur contact to sd card ,delete all contact, import your contact again
go to contact -menu button-import/export-copy to sd card
delete all contacts
export them back again
it will create a .vcf file in ur sd card so all your contatcs will be safe no problem deleting them just import them back after deleting

I did the hard reset when I upgraded. And regarding the import and export, thats what I have done before upgrading, but thank you though.
It seems that the contacts content are not loaded properly all the time. I tried opening the contacts and scrolling through the whole contact list, and then I switch to the call log, and all the names are back in the call log. What is confusing is that I do not use any sort of task killer such that the contact are removed from the memory.
I don't think its a hardware problem though.
Hi Dr.Alani,
Frustrated by the same issue. Any breakthrough with this one?
Sending the phone in to service center for 3 weeks+ is just not an option.
I've found out that the problem was caused by "market access" app. If you leave the emulation on, for example T-mobile, the phonwill consider only US numbers to be local. All other numbers will look different than they are on the contact list. So, just remember to restore your network code in market access or market enabler after you finish downloading from the market. I hope this solves you issue.

There would not be any such problem if you stored all your numbers in the international format in the first place (like, +1123456789)
(For quick restore - airplane mode on and off.)
Actually I do save the numbers in International Format, but the problem is that the network I am on, when someone calls I receive it without the +CountryCode ..Thats why names don't show up.
HI,
I have faced an issue now a days that when i am rooting or unrooting my O1, SIM contacts were not shown over the phonebook but phone contact shown. I think may be its due to rooting or unrooting. but why is it so?? whenever i faced this problem i had checked all the setting, refreshed the setting and also restart my phone but the same issue persists. until when i removed the sim from the phone and then reinstall it, the problem solves.. plz help why it is so..?? what can i do to solve it..?

Actually, also I can't set SIM contacts to be visible, it's only possible to move them from SIM to phone. I'm using CM7 by mik..
In official ROMs there is an option to make SIM contacts visible.
If you can't make them visible, use export/import and choose import from Sim.

SIM Contacts are never displayed in CM7 by mik
If you need to import contacts from your sim to phone mem.
then press the menu key while in contacts >>Import/Export >> import from sim
and import all
but if you need to copy a newly saved contact in phone memory to sim, use an app called contacts2sim (get it from market/Google)
Hope this helps now

Hi, i just got the S2 a couple days ago and it's an amazing phone coming from an Iphone3g.
I was wondering if it is possible to install 2 whatsapp program on the phone? the reason for this is that i have 2 cell phone numbers, one personal and one work. i switch sim cards on weekends. i have separate work and personal friends, i don't want them to interchange and know about my other numbers.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
from what i understand
when u switch the sim card whatsapp starts again like u just installed it
Yes i understand whatsapp still works when install new sim card in the phone, but the phone number does not change with the sim card. That's my problem and i hope an expert here can let me know if it's possible to have 2 whatsapp or advise me an alternative solution.
You could try moving the apk to /system/app and then installing one from the market (/data/app). I've never tried anything like this so I'm not sure if it'd work.
Why don't you mail the developer...

So i guess its not possible to install 2 whatsapp, i'll email the developers to see if they have a solution.
Thank you everyone.
From experience....
I switched sims....and whatsapp thought i was still on my old number...until I was bothered to re-install it.
There have been a lot of whatsapp updates since then.. don;t know if it still works like that
I have 2 numbers and 2 phones and that works becuase each phone has its own gmail account therefore its own apps market. To have 2 WhatsApp on the same phone with different numbers probably might work if you put another gmail account in "My Accounts" and see if it can sign in and open its own apps store account but 2 WhatsApp on the same phone wont work if they share the same gmail/market account.
Ironmit,
Yes it's still the same, switching sim cards does not change whatsapp number.
Thank you everyone, i have emailed the developers and waiting for their reply. i will post results as soon as they get back to me in case anyone has the same problem as me.
Same problem need two whatsapps in one phone

Titanium Backup has a feature called App Profiles which basically allows you to have "two (or more) instances" of an app installed on your device. So you would create a new profile for WhatsApp and sign in with your 2nd number. Then if you want to go back to the 1st number, just switch back to the first profile. I'm not sure if that would work as I haven't tried it but that's an idea.
EDIT: I tried this out and it worked. You can even have a widget on your homescreen to easily and quickly switch between profiles.
Yes, the Titanium Backup App Profiles feature is a very good workaround, thanks for the tips halogen_guy.
Just one thing is when the profile is changed, the other phone number cannot receive messages. It would be great if we can make both numbers able to receive messages at the same time (dreaming).
Not complaining, at least I can use Whatsapp with my secondary phone number once in a while. I'm very happy now
Multiple profiles in TB for Whatsapp

No, i dont think it will work on non-rooted devices.
It needs Titanium backup to create multiple profiles and it NEEDS Root access

best Solution for this dual boot your Phone. So 1 whatsapp is on one rom other one is on second rom.
hi, i have an atrix, im using a rom based on CM7! its cool, many options there! the most important thing missing is to export contacts to SIM CARD!! why it is omitted ? in te original motorola rom this option is present!! im always wondering why we cant exoprt our contacts ( without using an application) to ou sim cards even its a basic option in every phone!
can we added this stuff manually? i really dont wana change cm7, so coool!
thks a lot and sorry a lotttttttt

Why would you want to back it up onto a device that if it fails you lose the contacts perminantly? CM7 by default backs up all contacts to your Google account, therefore making it that you can then get another phone, toss in your Google creds and your contacts are automatically downloaded, no need to be concerned about copying them from a SIM and making sure they were imported properly. If you must have your contacts on your SIM, try one of the three apps maajstor recommended.

google account? means internet? means not 100% available! exporting to sim card is an elementary task; and you will say if the sim goes wrong? or damaged? lost? yes, thats right, but at least no need to connect to import them, its a very basic function to export contacts to sim card, even the dinosaur nokia 3310 have this stuff! well, never mind, thanks for yr reply a appreciate a lot !

thks for yr concern
im wondering if there is not an hybrid ROm! so we can use the wonderful skills of the CM7 and also motoblur stuffs? like the neo V that i have, even i use cm7 but its an hybrid rom, i can easily copy contact to sim....
I would love some help with assigning pictures to contacts on stock sammy ROM XWLP7 4.03
I assign every contact an image and all is fine until I reset or turn my phone off and on again, then I lose all my pictures and have to re-assign them.
Surely my phone should save them?
I do have my contacts on my SIM and not on my phone, is this the issue?
I would rather not have my contacts on my phone so if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance!

I would say yes. SIM card have very limited possibilities. Copy them to phone a try again.
SIMs are pathetic little data storage devices that are designed to basically store a very small (in computer terms) amount of number directly relating to your phone and carrier. They are not designed to carry dozens of images. Move contact to phone.
I guess that solves it then
I moved contacts to my phone instead of SIM and it is now working fine.
Thank you for helping me resolve this little issue.

Save your contacts/contact pics to Google so they are easily transferable to your next android or (heaven forbid) iphone
