I would love to know that to, because I got my hands on the pictures, but still have no idea of moding it

First look into how to Edit and Customize a DLL and MUI.
Then:
Here are the Possible files you need to edit to complete the Taskbar Icon set:
(may need to be updated)
Here are the tools that you need:
*RecMod Tool - To convert a module to a flat DLL or MUI file
*
UnSigner - To UnSign the DLL or MUI file
*
Resource Compiler/Decompiler - To edit the DLL or MUI components
*
Icon Maker - To create and edit icons
*
Signer - To ReSign the DLL or MUI files
You can download these Free Tools from HERE.
You can have some icons even placed in the MUI files so same procedure will be applied to MUI and for the DLL files. Here an taking an example of a DLL file.
Once you are ready with these tools you can proceed to the following steps:
1. Get the DLL file you want to edit
If you have a DLL flat file then just move to Step 2 else if you have a Module then just Convert it to a Flat DLL file using the Recmod Tools provided. Note it that you cannot edit a module but only a flat file.
2. UnSign the DLL file
You need to first remove the signed certificate from the DLL first. Drag the DLL file over UnSigner.exe. Done. You’ll notice the size of DLL file increased a little.
3. Get measure of Icons
Open the DLL file in the Resource Hacker Application and make a note of all the Icons you need to replace and their respective dimensions. This way you can easily get the measure of the Icons you need to create to replace the Default Icons. Here we take the example of tshres.192.dll,
A more simpler way is to extracting all the icons of the DLL in a folder first. Just go to Actions/Save all Resources and save the “.rc” file in a new folder. This will extract all the default icons present in that DLL.
You can this way find out what all icons that DLL caters.
4. Prepare new Icons to add to your DLL
Use Icon Maker and create the icons to be replaced in the DLL. But you need to make sure that the size of Icons are correct for each Resolution of the Device you want to use it on. I’ll tell you the Dimension of icons for W/VGA devices and for W/QVGA you can reduce them to half.
*
Taskbar Icons(Battery Signal, Volume, etc.) - 32x32px
*
Start Button(WM 6.1) - 36x41px
*
Start Button(WM 6.5) - 32x32px
*
Soft Key Buttons(WM 6.5.x) - 48x48px
Now there may be few other Icons such as for the Folders, Dialer, etc. So the dimension of these you need to be aware of in Step 3.
5. Replacing the Icons in the DLL file
Now you must have already opened the DLL file in the Resource Hacker Application. So now you need to individually replace each icon with the new ones you created in step 4. Just right click on the Icon Resource you want to change and select “Replace Resource”.
Then simply browse to the respective icon you created in Step 4 which you want to add.
6. ReSign the DLL
The last thing you need to do is ReSign the DLL. For doing this:
1.
Extract the msigntools.7z to a separate folder.
2.
Copy the DLL inside that folder
3.
Click on siggner.exe and browse select that DLL file. You can select multiple files aswel.
4.
Next just click on “Start Sign Process”. Instantly all the DLL files will be signed and there.
5.
To check whether they got signed or not, notice that reduced file size of the DLL and also a new Text file is created mentioning “Warning: This file is signed, but not timestamped. Succeeded”. Which means Signing process was Successful.
7. Edit the BMP files
The BMP files are used for showing icons of Bluetooth and Headset as shown in the first Image. Not the behind properly editing these icons is, making 2files for each icon, one for the Icon with Black Background and another with the Icon area Back and the background being white. Do this for all these BMP files and you can replace them aswel in the Windows Folder.
This way the whole process is complete and not you can replace this DLL in your windows folder or Create a Cab file or just cook it in the Rom.

Not as easy as you might think. You need to get your hands on software to unsign the dll. Then you need to be able to explore it and replace the images within it. Then you need to correctly resign the dll (different software!). Plus, there is more than one file involved in the taskbar so be prepared for a lot of work. Even then you almost always run into problems signing the dll correctly and often end up with no volume icon showing, problems with HTC volume control, even no taskbar icons at all! Rear up a lot before you go too far, there are tutorials out there (I suggest you wait for Conan's link).
Anyway, have fun! Look forward to a GB taskbar sometime on Monday given your recent progress111
edit: ...OR just follow Santods marvelous instructions above (damn, you're quick!)
edit (again): RecMod link is broken...

Hehe well I wouldnt bet on it. I will start working on 9 new docks for the softkeys, which are all ported from android devices of friends of mine. And I have to do a lot of work to make my files match the screenshots as much as possible. But I think, that I can finish that, this night or tomorrow^^

Link Fixed Thanks

Hey MrB,
Your probably better off following santod's advice as its more comprehensive and easier to follow that the link I mentioned. Heres the link anyway though
Looking forward to your gingerbread flavoured taskbar

tks all. i will try~

Wow~ too much thing @[email protected]""""

I can give you some tips on making this easier. Since you've extracted the files from the apk im pretty sure you know that you'll have to convert them to png then convert them to .ico . They will not work normally on any size make sure it's 32x32 but after you convert them. If you feel that the default icons are confusing download and extract Dark Ninja's android. If you are used to that. I used his desire as the base. I created my icons and easily placed them since they are easy to notice.
If you need any help PM me since I have been working on a pink and blue version of gingerbread I can share my files with you if like.

tks Lunie~
i'm resizing 32x32 and convert to ico everything is fine now .
tks 4 ur help :]

wow~ done with resizing icon @[email protected]"""""" now have to replace ( .tired -.-

I looked into your files, they all good besides the htcvolume.dll and phcanOverbmp.dll which are corrupted. Both those files cannot be signed.
The taskbar looks nice but I would rather prefer to see all the green replaced by blue color, I am sure your work will get more success in blue
I might find the time to help you to finish this taskbar in the coming week, just let me know by pm

WM6 Rom Kitchen

The use of the Rom Kitchen is at your own risk!
Note: This is NOT for beginners, you need to have a good understanding of flashing G3/G4 prophets
This is NOT for answering or asking basic info, use the wiki/search for that.
Rom Kitchen Installation:
Download and install MS .NET framework 2 first
Extract the file ‘Prophet_WM6_RK_S-Core.rar’ anywhere.
The Folder structure will look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Extract ‘FlashOS.zip’ and ‘rgu-hv.zip’ anywhere.
Using the Rom Kitchen in Steps:
STEP (0): Making an OEM Package:(optional, more later)
This step is not necessary at beginning, unless you want to include new OEM Package in the OEM dir of Kitchen.
STEP(1): Run BuildOS.exe:
it will look like this:
Here you can select / de-select any packages you require.
Make sure you don't select too many or it will overflow the rom and you will get any error in the CreateRom.bat step.
Click the green button when you are done and it will create the OS dump.
If you get errors during this, it is probably due to duplicate files/modules in SYS and OEM dirs or due to bad registry entries.
If they occur, it has to be fixed by deleting duplicate files/modules (make sure you know what you are deleting) and correcting the registry (its hard to track registry errors, only change one package at a time).
If there are no errors BuildOS.exe will finish and prompt ‘Done’.
The temp dir will have dump,boot.hv,boot.rgu and log.txt
Do not delete any content at this point.
STEP(2) (a): Editing default/User .hv files:
This can be skipped, but all depends upon need.
This is needed for example when you need to ‘remove’ some reg entries.
For example see:
The base rom used in this kitchen is from the wizard, so we probably need this type of removal again.
To do it , copy default.hv and user.hv( user may not need both) files from dump created above to rgu-hv folder.
Run respective batch file to convert them in *.rgu files and rename *.rgu files to *.txt
edit *.txt files in notepad.
Remember these points:
--------(i)Turn off Word Wrap in notepad
--------(ii)1st line is blank line, type “REGEDIT4”(without quotes)on this line
--------(iii)Make sure last line is blank line
--------(iv)Files should be saved as Unicode not ANSI after editing
--------(v)HKCR & HKLM falls in default.rgu
--------(vi)HKCU and HKU falls in user.rgu
When saving *.txt files in notepad,
--------Select Encoding as Unicode
--------Select file type ‘all’
--------Rename as *.rgu
Now run respective batch file to convert *.rgu file back to *.hv files. Original *.hv files present in rgu-hv dir will be replaced by newly edited *.hv files.
Move new *.hv files back to dump folder in temp dir.
STEP(2) (b): Editing main initflashfiles.dat, why ? (Coming soon)
STEP(3): Run CreateRom.bat:
This batch file uses the dump dir., boot.hv and boot.rgu files to create the OS.nb file.
If there are no errors, the newly created OS.nb is placed in the temp dir.
STEP(4): Flashing the OS:
- Downgrade to AKU 2.2 first (wm5)
- Move your new OS.nb from the temp dir to the FlashOS dir and run UpgradeRom.bat

Updates:
#1 - 10/06/2007 Reduce imgfs size and put in more OEM/Files
(1)View attachment TOOLS+CreateROM.zip
Extract Zip and replace TOOLS dir and CreateROM.bat with old one in RK.
Modified File/TOOLS are optional, one can continue to work with old ones.
Info on Update #1
- Modified File/Tools repack imgfs block and hence OS.nb to reduced size!!
- Standard size of Shiped OS/Old cutom cook OS is 58368 KB(59,768,832 Byte)
- With the modified File/Tools new OS.nb can be less then 50 MB!!
- Hence its possible to include more OEM Packs and files untill the limit of 58368 KB
- Less imgfs blocks will not increase Storage.
- If OEM Packs/Files are deleted, initflashfile.dat must be edited, if not it will not boot properly
- Flashing reduced size OS.nb with FlashOS, may not prompt completion, so one has to wait as long as to approx 30 min or above to make it complete in hidden mode.
- If you add too many OEM/Files to the OS.nb greater than standard size without any error, but avoid such OS and dont risk ur device by flashing over size OS.nb
- experience with reduced size OS.nb - device switches off frequently after waking up, no other issue found yet.

its complete kitchen, u dont need any other rom to use with.
Kitchen uses anichillus's Core 2.n as base rom.
If u just use kitchen with all steps u will get a rom which looks as in post.

But I got another question:
Can I switch the Core-ROM? I'm customizing at the moment PDAViet 4.0.0.0.3 but I think it's not all to replace the OS.nb inside the Kitchen! Explain it please!

Hi animelover,
Nice to see u.
I have been out for some work and will complete remaining tutorial on first page.
Well, choice for Core rom just arises cuz i liked its speed and performence even when there is not much registry changes, i changed very little few reg to work with prophet, as it was consuming time of my work hour.
And its absolutely possible to port any custem rom to kitchen, that was my search which ends in a shape of this kitchen.
But as i stated in 1st post we should have a official WM6 for prophet then only the kitchen based on that will be perfect.
There is some inbuilt behaviour of BuildOS.exe, that it does not construct registry based on custom rom that has been ported to kitchen, rather it construct registry from deployed SYS/OEM structure.
Thats why when a custom rom ( say Smart1 v3 or any) ported in kitchen vanishes its customized registries on running BuildOS.exe, and newly created rom will have totally different registries than original one.
However original registries of custom rom r placed in SYS/Metadata but they r ignored during BuildOS.exe (Mods, please correct my findings if im wrong)
If there is a better chioce for a rom that should be ported, please mention, that will be ported in RK, but u know what i wrote above.
One has to make registry changes after BuildOS.exe to make rom more performative.
it looks promising,
when will tut on post#5 complete ?
Reduce imgfs size and put more OEM/Files
Extract Zip and replace TOOLS dir and CreateROM.bat with old one in RK.

This ROM is great. Beautifull bootscreen and finally sound for every tap, even the Start Menu.
One Problem:
When I change the backlight setting (everything off) and I switch off and on my device the backlight is gone. The only solution is to hard reset my device and set it up again. Is there a solution for?

there is no such problem on my device, but its possible different devices shows little variation in performence.
try using without backlight off setting or power offsetting for some time, i think it may help or remake-reflash in freash way.
im still on enhancement work, but with slow pace. However there is not much to change as base rom provided by anichillus is already superb.
But still i will post some more enhancement before reviving whole kitchen with any new good base rom.

I realy like to get a new core rom the one inside this kitchen is buging me.. as is restarts the prophet rapidly
Thanks gullum!
I only have some remaining questions:
First, is it correct, that the registry entries from the OEM-package are in the *strange-hex-code*.rgu? Do I need to enter this code anywhere? Is there a way to import this file directly into the Installation Creator or do I have to add the settings manually by editing the registry sections?
Second, how can I find out if there are any self registering or setup dll files that I have to specify during the setup process?
Sorry to bother you, if there is a thread or tutorial where this has been discussed before, just tell me which one it is.
I just downloaded the OEM.zip from the Wizard Forum and want to try some of the programs out.
Thanks again for your help!
PS: And yes, I have the same problems with the core here...my Prophet restarts every 10 inutes or so .

[TUT] OEM Building

HOW To Make an OEM
Here is the tutorial for building an OEM, so, of course it can be used for any device,.
nb: try it at your own risk,.
OEM folder used as the place for any application that would be a default ROM application.
Here is step by step,.
1. Download & Install Hypercore Kitchen
2. Open Hypercore and go to panel/extra/CAB Analiser,.
3. Open or Drag and drop the .cab files that you would make it an OEM,.
4. Choose "XML" display then extract all cab files to a new folder,.
5. Go to "Registry tab", then copy all the registry setting from there, and paste to a new blank document
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
6. The registry setting is absolutely unusable, to make it usable, it must be edited like this,.
(Before edited)
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\WM5torage_Class]
"ActivateFlags" = dword : 00000000
"DeviceName" = ""
"NLEDWrite" = dword : 0000FFFF
"NLEDRead" = dword : 0000FFFF
"idVendor" = dword : 0000045E ---------------------------------------> There is a space between "=" and "dword", its Wrong,.
"ReadOnly" = dword : 00000000
"Dll" = %CE1%\WM5torage\WM5torage.dll --------------------------> It have only one slices, its wrong,.
"Product" = "Windows Mobile Device"
(After edited)
REGEDIT4 -------------------------------------------------------------------> There must be REGEDIT4 at the TOP
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\WM5torage_Class]
"ActivateFlags"=dword:00000000
"DeviceName"=""
"NLEDWrite"=dword:0000FFFF
"NLEDRead"=dword:0000FFFF
"idVendor"=dword:0000045E ------------------------------------------> Take a look at this, there should be no spacing inside the registry,.
"ReadOnly"=dword:00000000
"Dll"=%CE1%\\WM5torage\\WM5torage.dll -------------------------> If the keys are pointing to somewhere else, it must be two slice like this,.
"Product"="Windows Mobile Device"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------> Leave one line empty at the BOTTOM,.
7. Generate GUID Name, (The generaor could be downloaded HERE)
8. Okay, save it in UNICODE encoding, using (Generated GUID Name).rgu
9. Make another blank document, and rename it with, (Generated GUID Name).dsm
(The generated GUID name between .rgu and .dsm must be the same)
10. Make a "initflashfiles.txt",. -------> (I give the tutorial below,.)
HOW To Make a initflashfiles.txt
initflashfiles.txt used to copy a file from specified location, to another specified location,.
Here is the step by step,.
1. Just make a new blank document
2. Save that document as initflashfiles.txt
What should you write inside initflashfiles.txt?? you should write this (below),.
The formula is:
Directory("DESTINATION FOLDER"):-File("DESIRED FILENAME","FILE SOURCE")
So, it will be like this,.
-------> Means that you want to copy the file named WM5torage.lnk in \Windows folder, to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\System folder,.
There you go, you have one working initflashfiles.txt now,.
--- Finally, make it in one folder, and give it a name, ex: OEM_WM5torage ---
NB:
That you have to remember when you build an OEM:
a. There must be REGEDIT4 at the TOP
b. Leave one line empty at the BOTTOM
c. Dont use Wordwrap view
d. Save with (GUIDname).rgu and use UNICODE encoding
GOOD LUCK,.
Happy ROM Cooking to all of you,.

Hi Garmin,
Thank you for the tutorial to make OEM. wonderful!
Your tutorial is good for standalone .exe files
but if you don't mind if i ask about cabs?
I have a question about cabs files:
how to input serial number into the cabs registry for programs Cabs that has serial activation? so everytime i install it.. it doesn't need to enter serial?
for example: i need to put "modified cabs" to extended rom. so it will install by itself every time i do hard reset.
Thank you garmin.

Every apps is different. So if don't know where a reg patch (sn. insert in registry), that's unable to create registry
Yup agreed with abusalza, every apps is different and they store their serial and reg key differently. i found some at the registry, and some on the file folder itself, some even encode them in the registry.
For me i key in the serial and search for it in the registry, den backup the key, and create cab for the registration and placing of ringtones and placing of shortcuts (for appz and games that installed on storage)
This ways saved me many hours when i will tryin to cook my own ROM or tryin out new appz
Just wanna thank Garmin for creating this thread and really helped me alot!!
thank very much bro!!!

It is S2U2 Cab, and some others too...but when i opend HTC keyboard cab registry values are shown

[M2D 2.0 editor] M2D reFLUSH v0.2 (project stopped)

People were having too many problems with this, so I decided to stop the project, sorry everyone.
--------------
This small tool is not trying to competing with the excellent M2D Customizer by MPenguin14!
I just made it because theres currently no versions of M2DC that works with the latest M2D.
And, even though M2DC is open-source, I dont know how to programm in that language, so I tried to mimic what it does with flash + mortscript.
It enables, disables and rearranges the tabs:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
To use:
--------
Make sure your device is QVGA!
Backup your system first, just in case.
Install Flash 7, if you dont have it already.
Install Mortscript, if you dont have it already.
Install the attached CAB.
Run my app.
Click to enable/disable tabs, drag to reorder them.
Red text means the tab is disabled, note that some tabs NEED to be disabled for M2D to run!
The listing is strange, as is in 2 columns, Ill have to find a better way of reordering the tabs in the future (any ideas?).
Save your settings.
Wait a couple of seconds, M2D will restart itself.
Enjoy.
What's new:
------------
Reads saved tab settings.
Change main softkeys.
Change Launcher tab grid (rows X columns).
Added M2D restart shortcut (usefull for skinners).
Notes:
------
The arrow is NOT pointing to cancel, it just means the list on the right continues from there.
It does not use or read any of your previously changed xml data, for now it always starts from its own default.
It creates a backup in \Windows\M2Dr\backup of the last XML changed, just in case you need it back.
You can install the app anywhere, but it always creates some temp files in \Windows\M2Dr that take about 200kb in the device (backup included).
Some tabs NEED to be disabled for M2D to run!
If the app is stuck in a screen reading "If you can read this you need flash 7", guess what, you only have flash lite. ;P
No widescreen version, my SWF to EXE doesnt support it, sorry.
Installing old M2D skins wont work, because some files arent the same.
I wouldnt advise more than 6 columns and a reasonable ammount of rows on the LAUNCHER tab, I have no idea of its limits.
Dont use this with the old M2D, it WONT work.
Old M2D(ct) thmes wont work also, they all have to be remade.
I attached here a QUICK-FIX, in case your M2D cant load, just copy the file into the windows folder and restart M2D.
How can I help?
---------------
Do you know a way of converting PNGs to JPGs with a simple command line? Or maybe a simple EXE that converts all the files in a folder.
How can I enable a TSK theme without going thru the settings?
How can I create a list of all the files inside a folder and its subfolders? (The FOREACH command on Mortscript only reads one folder)
To do (if M2DC doesnt get updated first, hehehe):
-------
Install new skins with a new extension name.
Change background (real M2D background, not just the HOME tab wallpaper).
Backup/restore XML settings.
Browse button for the softkeys choice (dont know if its possible)...
Nice,
Thanks for your work
Thanks for your work...
This is something i was waiting for a long time.
I hope you have succes...
I will be around this threat
hey twolf great app, no surprise it came from you
and in terms of ordering the tabs would it be possible to add a scrollable list, just an idea
Thanks, I wanted to do a horizontal scroll tab, but am having a lot of bugs with it, also we dont see all the tabs at once, and that makes it hard to order...
Updated v0.2:
Now to work on the skinning option.

What M2D version do you use?
You have your previous XML on Windows\M2Dr\backup just copy it back to the windows folder...
ALSO....
Added the How can I help? area on the first post, with stuff I'm stuck with.

Yes, it messed up my M2D too. And I'm using version 2.19191432 as cooked by Miky6682 in his ROM (I believe this is the new version you talk about). And btw, I had only rearranged the tabs to begin with.
Copying back XML from Windows/m2dr/backup also did not help. You admitted yourself that your M2D reFLUSH does not take into account previously edited XML and creates its own backup point. I had to restore from the XML I had manually saved earlier.
Any ideas why this could be happening? M2D reFLUSH could be a fantastic tool if I can get it to work for me.
The problem is that mortscript cant "read" XML files properly, so I had to separate the xml into severall parts to be able to rebuild it with my changes.
You can see it on \Windows\M2Dr\part*.txt
Its separated into all those txt files:
Part 1 is the image list
Part 2a and 2b are created by my M2Dr flash file on save, its the tab list and order. Its separated in two because flash cant save that many characters on a text file) some characters are incorect but mortscript fixes them.
Part 3a is the end of the tab list and the beginning of the launcher settings (I moved it to the top so that it was easier to change).
Part 3b is the middle of the launcher tab settings.
Part 3c is the end of the launcher tab settings and the rest of the hole XML.
So, for now, to use M2Dr, all you need to do is make sure the file \Windows\M2Dr\part3c.txt is represented the same way in your XML.
:/
Tricky, but it will work.
I am using 2.1919.1432 as cooked by Miky6682 too. I am having the same problem. After I enable the "Launcher". The M2D has no longer work. Is there any wany to fix it?
I added a quick-fix in the first post with the original XML.
Just copy it to the Windows folder.
Sorry about that.

quick fix didnt wrk for me. u have to hreset now. id advise ppl to stay clear of this app till u sort this bug out.
No ned to hard reset...
All this does is change the xml I attached and the softkeys (IF you changed any).
You did extracted the xml from the attached zip, copied it to your Windows folder and resetted, right?
If that didnt fixed it, you can always reinstall M2D, or simply remove your softkeys settings with M2DC.
But this really shouldnt be necessary, the xml fix should resolve everything.
:/
All this app thouch is the xml and the softkeys, nothing more.
I did tested it before releasing it, I know it will only work on QVGA for now, but that should be the only problem.

Hey, no need to be so alarmed. As twolf explained, this "app" does not make any irrevocable changes. It is just a user friendly and convenient interface for editing the HTChomesettings.xml file of Manila 2D. Alternatively you can use some utility like Mobile Notepad to manually edit the xml file yourself. But thats a complicated procedure and twolf's M2D reFLUSH makes it easy for even newbies like me.
Secondly, this forum is all about developing new apps and utilities.... and testing/feedback is an inseparable part of development. If everyone "stays clear", then nothing would ever get developed.
well i am now going lose all of my data, so i will say "stay clear" so that other ppl dont suffer the same fate, the quick fix does not work and i am now screwed. dont av a go at me for being angry, im the one who is inconvenienced not you.
I am truthly sorry for your data, believe me that this was never my intention with this app...
The most that it could do of harm would be to stop M2D from starting, nothing that wouldnt be fixed easily, or at most by reinstalling M2D.
What exactly happened to your device?
Maybe if I can understand the problem better I can fix whatever this tool did or stop working on it at all... :/
Sooo... could you please explain in detail what happened to your device?
Launcher fails to change anything
Hi... First off... Fantastic. Simple and clean application.
Only thing is I cannot seem to adjust the Launcher. I set it to 4 x 4 to no avail. The only thing that happened was the icons seemed to spread out a bit but remained 6 rows and 3 cols. I tried to change anything with the same result.
Any ideas?

[GUIDE] TO MOD YOUR OWN LOCKRING - NO EXPERIENCE OR CODE NEEDED (noobproof)

I created this in the Sensation forum. I have spent 1 and a half days creating, coding and running batch files in command prompt to ensure this will work for anyone AND ENSURE IT IS NOOBPROOF FOR EVERYONE.
UPDATE: V2 below, see below for details on changes.
The Lockring kit below is Unique to me and there isnt anything like it out there.
Here is my detailed guide to Modding your own lockscreen. LockRing kit i created is attached below and is COMPATIBLE WITH ANY SENSE 3 ROM OR Sense 3 THEME .

THERE IS VERY LITTLE WORK and NO CODING INVOLVED FOR YOU. ALL YOU DO IS
You put your ROM zip in the place ROM Folder - No need to rename
Place your lockring in lockring folder - No need to rename, just make sure its a PNG file not JPG
then collect the finished file in collect recovery zip folder.
See the video guide in post 2 for how to extract lockring and how to use a new lockring
Batch files in the kit will do all the work for you.
Requirements
-Java (Java Runtime Environment) - You need this otherwise your lockring APK will not be signed and prevent installation in recovery.
-271 x 270 Lockring in PNG File Format - Easiest way to get a lockring is to google a PNG image of what you want as. e.g search for Assassins Creed PNG. Quite alot of PNGs come with a transparent background which is what u need.
1st TIME SET UP
Create a New Folder in C:\ called "Lock_Ring_Kit"
Open the lock ring kit zip file and copy all the files and folders into the folder you just created.
Guide to extract a lockring
To extract a theme and/or lockring from another ROM
IF you have seen A lockring on EVO 3d FORUM
IF you have a really cool ROM or theme and you want to take the lockscreen ring out of it.
STEP 1. Place Your ROM or THEME you want to take lockscreen from Place_ROM_ZIP_HERE
STEP 2. Click 1. Extract APKs_FROM_ROM.bat. This will automatically run 2._decode_from_APK
Step 3. Click 3. Extract lockrings (OPTIONAL).bat.
This will put lockrings from the Rom or theme into the extract_lockscreen folder. you can now use this lockring.
And the rest of the files will be placed in Mod_files_here Folder (more about this below)
Guide to mod your own LockRing
STEP 1. Delete any existing files in Place_ROM_ZIP_HERE and Place Your ROM or THEME in the folder. This will be used as a base.
STEP 2. Click 1. Extract APKs_FROM_ROM.bat. .
Once the APKs have been extracted This will automatically run 2._decode_from_APK
*If you have the apks you want to use as a base then just place them in the Place_APKs_FILE_here Folder and click Decode from APK *
STEP 3. Get your Lockring you want and put it in the Place_Lockring_here folder. Make sure your lockscreen image is flipped vertically(mirror upside down image). e.g
Sense uses upside down lockrings to display them right side up. use the 3.0.1 Flip Lockring with FSResizer.exe to flip it upside down if it isnt already.
STEP 4. Click 3.1 Replace Lockrings.bat. This is to replace the existing lockrings with your lockring
Step 5. Click 4. Encode and create recovery zip.bat.
This will Re-encode your lock ring into the APKs, sign them then produce a signed zip file you can flash in recovery
Step 6. Flash your File in clockwork and enjoy.
Additional Features
Mod_Files_Here Folder you can go into this folder and into the default folder or other skins In this folder you can replace the navigation bar in Sense homescreen, also background for widgets and clock numbers etc. care should be taken u replace pngs with the another of the same dimensions.
Backup and Restore allows u to back up 4 different lock rings + Fusion files and restore them anytime so u can work on different ones at different times,
FS resize will allow u to resize your lock ring to 271x270 and also flip it upside down if it isnt upside down. Make sure you flip not rotate!
Download Lock_Ring_Kit or click the attachment below
BUG FIXED in v2 -->WHEN DRAGGING AN APP TO THE LOCK RING IT WOULD SHOW THE PREVIOUS RING!
Added option to rename lockring zip to whatever you want before it is put in collect here folder
If you get system could not find file error on some occasions, its normal, as i have either asked for it to delete something but the files already deleted
just make sure u follow the process.

yeah i'm puting the whole ROM .zip into the place ROM folder,
I have just been reading the sensation thread to see if there are any clues there....
the folders I was talking about are left in the Lockscreen extract after i have decompiled with the tool using the first set of instructions, just to test..If I look in the archive of the .zip I do have just the 2 .apk's in the system\app folder as I should have.

Another note on the bug: if you have flashed a lockring made using the original lock ring kit, you will have to delete Idlescreen_base.apk (lower case b) from /system/app using root explorer.
Hi there!
I've tried multiple times and also used the base lock ring, combined with the .dat files of my custom lock ring but I can't get it to work. I followed all the steps and all I get errors and no flashable zip.
The only thing I want to change is a simple custom lock ring. There are a zillion different lock rings out there and I can't seem to even get one working. Am I the only one with this problem??
Could someone with the skills please assist me with this as I don´t have the knowledge to see what I am doing wrong.
Please help as I am out of options.. Any tips will be very, very much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I've followed the steps more carefully and made the conclusion that I did'nt put the right lockscreen file in the designated folder. Now I've used the right (horizontally 180 and mirrored) png file along with the Orighinal Rom and also with the Base Lock Ring. Now I don't get any errors and everything seems successfull. After completing step 4 there should be a flashable zip in the 'Collect recovery zip here' folder, but this folder stays empty. So maybe someone could point me in the right direction as I am following these steps completely, but no flashable zip is created...
Look in your Mod_files_here folder. Do you have 4 folders with a bunch of png and dat files inside?
Bramgg, I sent you a pm.
Everything seems to go fine until in bat 4. when I get to the part where it is looking for *.apk in Lock_Ring_Kit\M10_Tools\EXTRACTED_APK\Fusion\ It says can't find and that is true when I look it is not there????
It also looks for the *.apk in \Idlescreen_Base\ which is not there either???
The bat then continues merrily along "adding" stuff until it gets to "Signing APKs and then it says that " 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. In the next line it says "The System cannot find the file specified."
It then goes back to the fact that it can't find the two original files and then says "0 files copied."
Then back to building the flash zip and adding files coming then to signing the flash zip and then the same comment about 'java".
It then asks for the name of the Lockring Mod Zip file and that is about the end of the process. Even if you provide a name for the file it doesn't work and there is no zip file to retreive.
I have Java 6, build 29 on my Windows 7 home premium machine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

This is an excellent guide, thanks for this!

(Tutorial)Lock Screen mod for Nabi 2 NABI2-NV7A

This tutorial is for lock screen modification to Nabi 2 NABI2-NV7A US or UK version although only confirmed working with US version. Although the steps would be identical for either version, just don’t have a UK Nabi 2 to test my theory.
I created this thread in hope that if anyone use this tutorial they will provide a picture of lock screen and also share their flashable zip file for the entire Nabi community. If sharing flashable zip files the naming convention has to match the firmware version as I have done below.
A couple of tools & files will be required first and I have provided links to downloads.
• 7-zip
• apkmultitool
• nabi_circle.png
• empty_framework.zip
I will start with the apk multi tool, I have to give kudos to the developer of this tool, super easy to use; if possible consider making a donation and continue supporting the development of this tool. Currently using Windows 7 64 OS so all instructions will be for Window users.
1) After download of tool, extract to the root of C:\
2) Make sure you have USB debugging checked in Nabi found in Settings\Developers options
3) Connect tablet and go C:\ APK-Multi-Tool\setup.bat and follow instruction 1 thru 3
4) After the 3 steps go to C:\ APK-Multi-Tool\other you will find the framework-res.apk & SystemUI.apk
5) Copy and paste framework-res.apk to C:\ APK-Multi-Tool\place-apk-here-for-modding now click the Scipt.bat hit enter; then option 9 Decompile apk
6) Then you will find the decompiled apk in C:\ APK-Multi-Tool\projects
The files to edit with your pictures are found here, go and replace the png files listed below.
C:\APK-Multi-Tool\projects\framework-res.apk\res\drawable-sw600dp-mdpi
A. fuhu_ic_lockscreen_handle_normal.png
B. fuhu_ic_lockscreen_handle_pressed.png
C. nabi_circle.png
D. unlock_directions.png (Optional)
The fuhu_ic_lockscreen_handle_normal.png & fuhu_ic_lockscreen_handle_pressed.png have to be 1024 x 552 px. and they both have to be the same picture.The nabi_circle.png 184 x 238 has to be replaced with a transparent.png for simplicity I have provided a download link to one. Also the unlock_directions.png is optional that file is 120 x 120 px by replacing all these files you can create your own custom lock screen mod. What I did is I renamed all my png files to default names.
If you want to change default wallpaper, which is 1536 x 1024 px
C:\APK-Multi-Tool\projects\framework-res.apk\res\drawable-sw600dp-nodpi
1. After you have edited your files; then enter the cmd and choose option 11 Compile system apk files. Then it will ask if you would like to copy additional files that you didn’t modify from the original apk in order to ensure least # of errors (y/n)
2. Enter y
3. Now go back to C:\APK-Multi-Tool\keep and delete the files you have modified then hit enter
4. You will now find a unsignedframework-res.apk file in C:\ APK-Multi-Tool\place-apk-here-for-modding
5. Place this file in different folder (example minions) rename to framework-res.apk
6. Grab the empty_framework.zip open this with 7-zip without unzipping and drag the framework-res.apk in emty_framework.zip\system\framework\drag here.
If your emty_framework.zip is only showing META-INF folder just click file top left of 7-zip and then "create folder" system repeat again and create framework folder, then open that folder and drag framework-res.apk there. 7-zip will ask are you sure you want to copy file just click yes.
If you want to modify the updater script you can extract into your computer and modify it with notepad and change the name of the lockscreen, this will be able to be read in recovery. If you don’t take this last step it will say “Installing custom lockscreen”. The updater script can be found in
empty_framework.zip\META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script
Here are a few lockscreens that are only for firmware 2.3.11 enjoy

Before flashing backup entire ROM also store the lockorg_2.3.11.zip in your external card
I am not responsible for anyone bricking your kids tablets, you are choosing to do this mod!
Sweet thanks for making this thread

So I flashed the frozen one no problem, but then tired to flash the original and it just hangs on boot loading. Have you tested flashing that zip. I just flashed the frozen back and was fine. Just a heads up.

Hi.
I had posted this in one of the general forums since I didn't have access at the time to post in the development forums.. I'll post this here as well now that I can..
Question on the process to change the default kids mode wallpaper in the lockscreen process on the Nabi2's since moving to Jellybean.
katinatez's excellent process for the lock screen portion works fine (THANK YOU for sharing this, BTW)
End result:
I am trying to add a custom wallpaper into the apk when I change the lockscreen.
The file I am targeting is called default_wallpaper_kid.png and it is 1024x552.
The file is located in 2 folders:
framework-res.apk\res\drawable-hdpi
and
framework-res.apk\res\drawable-mdpi
I change these 2 files, recompile and follow the rest of the process as normal. Flash install onto the Nabi2 in TWRP and reboot. I still get the same default blue block kids mode wallpaper.
I've gone back and pulled the framework back off of the Nabi once I did the install and the changed wallpapers are in fact there. I can't figure out where the Nabi is pulling the standard blue block default wallpaper from since I verified that I replaced the files that I thought it should be.
I should note that I had previously changed the wallpaper during another lock screen install, so I'm stumped as to why I'm not able to change it now. And yes, I could just simply copy the wallpaper over to the Nabi and set it as wallpaper from there but it's bugging me as to why the process isn't working.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Someone else asked this question a long time ago. I can't find that answer searching(can't remember enough words from that post), it seems something like it was already cached since it was the apk, so it didn't pick up the change. I can't remember if the solution was to wipe caches or something like that or clear some data in an app in settings. Or maybe neither and I remember nothing..... LOL.
I believe the blue block wallpaper you are talking about, is in fact the NabiMode.apk default wallpaper.
Take the NabiMode.apk decompile & go thru steps replacing with whatever wallpaper you want for kids launcher wallpaper.
You will also find Madagascar wallpaper inside the NabiMode.apk
Good luck
Thanks guys -- I'll try to poke around with it later tonight when I get home.
Appreciate the info.

Remember to make backup with twrp before you start making changes.

Yeah, I've learned to do that the hard way..
Thanks!
Well, I pulled NabiMode.apk and decompiled it and found where the kids mode wallpaper is kept. I don't know about tinkering with the apk though as the data/addon_res folders are read only and I'm not sure that I want to get into playing around with figuring out how to push to a read only folder at this point - MUCH easier to just copy the wallpaper over to the Nabi and set it.
Thx guys!

My daughter is in a new phase, she just turned 4 years old and absolutely loves My Little Pony, so I created a new lockscreen mod.

Same steps outlined in guide, just no time. It's up to you.
I don't think this member can post here yet but take a look at some 2.4 lockscreens

Hi
BIt out of my depth with this but in updating the nabi2 from Jellybean to KitKat the lockscreen changed and it will upset my boy as he has autism. So planning to do this.
FIrstly, the apkmultitool ink seems broken does anyone have it please?
Secondly, I got the original lockscreen download as a zip in another thread from SMcC2 does that mean I can avoid a big bit of this tutorial??
Thank you for any help please.
Alex
Edit: Does me being on kitkat mean none of this will work ?
