I'm running touchwiz, and deleted the web icon from the app drawer. I have a web icon on my homescreen, but how the heck do I get it back into the app drawer.
How can I restore deleted icons in the app drawer?
Hey,
You can't delete the icon from the app draw without uninstalling the app. Since the icon is on your desktop then you have not deleted it.
TW allows you to organize/customize the app draw but there will always be the default setting with all apps. I have not used TW in a long time but, open the app draw and hit the menu button. If I remember correctly you will have options for custom app draw but there will also be the default, which will have all of your apps.

You actually can delete them, I know because I did LOL
You can delete it, by going to your app drawer, then hitting menu, then custamizable grid, then edit the grid, then pull the icon out of the app drawer and put it in your dock, now its not longer in your app drawer. Now put the icon from the dock into the trash, and now its gone!
I have a backup icon on my homescreen, but now, I can't seem to reverse the process and get the icon back into the app drawer
I guess the problem is, technically the icon is still somewhere is on my phone, just not in my app drawer! I want it back into the app drawer.
Sorry, maybe I was not clear. When I say app draw I'm talking about the default app draw. This display is not"customizable" therefore you cannot delete the icons unless you delete the app. You must be using a customizable grid.
You get the icon back by either using the default grid, or editing the customizable grid. Sound like you have the basics of the latter, just play around with. GL

Yes, I'm using the stock samsung touchwiz customizable app drawer. Trust me you can remove the icon from the app drawer, it lets you. The problem is, putting back in.
Yeah, SykesAT, you're incorrect. Give this a shot:
Tap "Applications"
Press "Menu"
Tap "View Type"
Tap ""Customizable Grid"
Press "Menu"
Tap "Edit"
Tap "-" (minus sign) on the apps that allow it.
Sadly, Sammy, I don't know how to get them back. Uninstall/reinstall an option?

The minus sign is uninstall, and it only allow unisntall not system apps. Web browser is a sys app and you shouldn't be able to delete it. Are you sure is not in the dock not the desk?
When you place an item in the dock, it desapears from the drawer...
You can always do a factory reset...... Not fun but it is something.....
Ok so messed around with it some more, and I thought I had trashed the icon from the dock. It appears it didn't go from dock to trash, it went from dock to app drawer, but out of alphabetical order so I wasn't seeing it.
So here is the new issue:
Techinically, I guess I want 2 copies of the icon, meaning.
I custamize my grid, I take the web icon OUT of the app drawer and put it into my dock. Meaning now the web icon is in my dock, and there is no longer a web icon in my app drawer.
However, I would like a copy, meaning I want the web icon in both my dock and app drawer. Anyway to make multiple copies of the icon? I know you can make multiple copies of icons on your homescreens, but seems like touchwiz doesn't give me the option. Either only lets me put it either in the dock or the app drawer, but not both places at the same time
I used desktop visualizer to create a second copy. Why not use a secondary web app like dolphin hd or opera? Just a thought....

I upgraded to rooted Froyo 2.2 the other day (KaosFroyo). It has that dock on the bottom main home screen. 3 icons, phone, app drawer and used to be browser icon but not mysteriously developer icon instead. I do not know how to change it back to the browser icon. Please explain
I never use the dock bar since I go for a clean look (I even have a transparent app drawer tab) but you should be able to just drag the browser icon from the app drawer and hold it over the spot you want and drop it. Should stick. Hope this helps.
Press and hold the icon. You will get a text box with options to change icon. Pick new application then default icon.

Actually, that's the solution for LauncherPro, but the original description sounds more like ADW.
In ADW, you drag icons to the spot in the dock where you want the icon to be. Just drag it over the one you want to replace and drop it and that should take care of it - if you are, in fact, using the ADW launcher.
I think this may be a bug..or maybe i just don't know what i'm doing..which is highly possible. So your suppose to be able to rearrange the apps in the apps dock..whether your in "All apps", "Frequent", or "Downloaded". If you long press on any of these buttons the view changes to "Press and hold icons to rearrange". Well none of the icons show up for the apps to rearrange!
Kinda pisses me off...are you guys seeing this?
I've never known it to be able to do that with Sense.
Who said you could rearrange the apps in the drawer?

One would assume that you could if the feature is present...well kinda present. This is my first Sense 3.0 device so I don't know if its been available on any other devices.
i think that is supposed to mean you can rearrange the all apps, favorites, recently used icons.... useless...

I don't think you can rearrange the apps, just the 3 "categories" on the bottom. IE if you want the app drawer to open to your favorite apps by default, click and hold the 'star' icon and drag it to the L of the 'all apps' icon.
if you have the app drawer open, and press the menu key, you can sort it by Alpha, and 2 date sort option
Maybe you were thinking of the BB Storm

No it doesn't work like that. Has anybody tried this? I looks pretty obvious what "they" were trying to accomplish.

What part doesn't work for you?
I just long held and moved my star/favorite icon all the way the the left of the bottom bar. Hit home, then hit the app drawer button and the star/fave icon was highlighted and there was only one page of (presumably) my most used apps.

Sorry, that does work. Guess those the "icons" that they are speaking of rearranging, although a bit misleading. But if the feature isn't there..then its not there.
I am on CM7 RC1.3 (previously was on RC1) and I have had the same problem with them on both. My main dock randomly will disappear and the only way I can get it back is to restart my phone. I think it is when i open an app that request full screen access then the main dock bar never comes back. But I can't fine anywhere to disable full screen.
It's an extra place for you to put shortcuts. Disable "Hidden Dockbar" in ADW Settings if you don't want it. Either that, or play around with it until you get used to it. Dragging up from the bottom opens it and dragging down (from the top of where the dock WOULD be) closes it. It takes some people a little bit to get used to it but it is a useful feature.

well i want the main dockbar to always be there. i dont want it disappearing when i go back to the home pages. there is a "close dockbar" option which says "auto-close dockbar after app-launch" when checked. i dont want to see the dockbar when an app is open, but i do want it to be there when i close the app. but i have that disabled anyways, so that shouldnt be an issue. i did a search and saw i am not the only person that has had this problem. but options they took to fix it, i dont have for various reasons. (i.e. CM6, tablet)
the swipe up and swipe down gestures are set to none also.

Yes. I understand. What I am describing is not "auto-close dockbar". It is the Hidden Dockbar as described.
Eh, I don't use it but I just installed it so I could be more descriptive of where the setting is.
Menu->Settings->ADW Settings->UI Settings
Under the "Hidden Dockbar" section uncheck "Dockbar".

Those are completely different than what I am referring to. If the "Hidden Dock" is enabled then swiping up from the bottom of the main dockbar will open it and swiping down from the top of the extended dockbar (imagine where the top of the main dock bar would be if it was there) will close it. I'm not sure how to explain this any better.
I'm sure you can set a hide/unhide the Hidden Dock as a icon shortcut, softkey shortcut, and/or swipe gesture as well if you want to keep it and that is more convenient.
Ok, I had checkmark on Dockbar. I took it off. I'll let you know how it works. Thanks.

Is there a way to set Dolphin HD as the default web browser and use the tray icon to access it?
Thanks
Yez. You can download an application called Launcher Pro. It allows you to customize the dock, etc. It's free, and available on the Market.

The tray icons (aside from the app drawer shortcut) are all customizable. Enter the app drawer (not the home screen), hit the menu button, then hit edit. It may ask you to switch to the customizable grid. Go ahead and do it if it asks, you can change back later (this is a bug in touchwiz). At this point you can drag icons into and out of the tray area. Hit the back button to lock them in place. If you had to change from an alphabetical arrangement in the app drawer to customizable grid, you can change back by hitting menu, view type, and choosing whatever style you wish.
As for the default browser, just hit "remember my selection" whenever it prompts you to choose one, and choose Dolphin HD. You can clear any default app settings by going into the "settings" app, hitting "applications", "manage applications", and selecting the application that is currently set at the default app for a specific task. In the list of settings there will be a "launch by default" section with an option to clear it as default.
That works. I didn't know about that trick of going to Edit under the application list page and rearranging the dock.

dude press the home button or use swipe pad ..................
I was using swipepad, but couldn't set it to show homescreen cause ADW.Launcher EX doesn't show ADW in applications, and Swipepad shows 9 applications, not just simply one :/
