Ok so I'm running leaked Froyo Rom right now. Flashed it using Odin but having internal SD card issues! Wont let me transfer anything. So I want to go back to 2.1 Out of the box vibrant stock.and flash using Odin. And start over again that way. Question is where can I find the Rom Tar. File at? And will it use e2 Recovery or e3 Recovery like my current Froyo Rom. Want to be able to flash the mountingfix.zip file once I get back to a Froyo Rom and use Rom Manager. To flash the fix. I'm sorry to ask so many questions.just need help fixing my cell phone.thanks a million.

OK So i rooted the vibrant with one click root...and su installed beautiful....decide to go with pepperkakes rom...got clockwork to work fine....made a nandroid back up of stock with no problem...loaded pepperkakes rom and decided not to keep and restore stock....restored complete but when i reboot the phone it stays stuck at samsung vibrant screen
Sounds like the ROM installed a different kernel than what your stock backup is. Odin back to stock and you'll be fine.
Or just flash a 2.1 kernel

belongs in q&a but what way of going back to stock did you use? nandroid? if so it wont help because it doesnt back up kernels. you will have to odin back to stock! or download a stock rom and push it to your sdcard and then flash that but its best if you made odin your friend!
Nandroid does not replace the kernel. The stock rom is incompatible with a 2.2 kernel. Odin back to stock and you'll be fine.

How do i Odin ?
Cant flash anything recovery doesnt wanna start nothing happens it just stays at vibrant screen
You just got that phone huh, odin is a program for your computer. Search for it from your home computer not sure where I got mine, but it came in a .zip file with the drivers for my computer to recognize my phone, odin program, the files I needed to get the phone back to stock. And instructions how to place the phone into download mode good luck.

Any keywords to search for or can any1 post a link
just google odin and vibrant on xda and you should get the right link its actually really easy to do
You guys were a great help....got the phone up and running
Im not sure if im soft bricked or what. tried to flash back to stock tmo vibrant from nero v3 with voodoo with odin but i forgot to turn voodoo off. now it boots into cwr with voodoo. says voodoo is off but no voice to say its deactivating. I can still get into download mode. not sure what to do. please help the stupid noob lol
Were you trying to flash back to true stock 2.1? If so you'll have to flash a 2.1 kernel. If you didn't disable voodoo you'll have to use Odin. Look in the directory (bible), first post in the development section. There are noob friendly guides to help you out.

Flash back to stock is what you will need to do. Look in the bible. To be safe, you may need to flash back to Eugenes' froyo that doesn't brick 1st, then flash back to stock. This rom can be found on his site eb-productions.com
There is an "All in one" zip that has the: stock rom, .pit, the computer driver (from samsung) and odin all zipped up together. Find that and then the froyo that doesn't brick and you will have a complete repair package.
It's not hard and this is faster than f-ing around trying some "maybe this will work" scenario..........
awesome!! back on stock 2.1-update 1 thanks again guys. will be more careful next time!
I tried to flash my rom to 2.3.3 but since i had it in the wrong folder it wouldnt let me so i restored to my old rom, but now its stuck at the boot screen(it says overstock) and its been like that for a while and im really worried!!! the rom its restoring to is sweethoney the latest version and i did it from clockwork recovery
does anyone know how to get pass the boot screen? im worried to turn my phone off
Sounds to me like you'll need to resort to odin.
You can always try to get into recovery mode first, and flash sweet honey again, then try restoring your backup.
is it just my phone, or when you flash the rom the rom has to be in the INTERNAL sd? i had my new rom on the external and i could find a way to access it =(
before odin, try going back to CWM Recovery and restore you orignal phone system, thats if you backed it up before you done any rom
We'll to you first question flash back to original with Obin and to you second you can only flash a new rom from your internal memory. Read the OP before you flash it tell you were to put it. Good Luck

fixed nevermind, but i do have a question... I downloaded clockwork rom manager, but when selecting my phone I get 2 nexus's and i9000 mtd and i 9000? no vibrant??
anybody? i dont know if i should flash i9000?
nevermind, ill go somewhere else.
When using a ported rom, Rom Manager doesn't recognize the phone as a vibrant so it doesn't give you the option for the vibrant recovery. You can use the following link to download the update.zip to flash the vibrant cwm recovery.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/stockodinjfd/files/update.zip/download
Just put on the root of your sd card, go to recovery you have and go to reinstall packages. It might not work right with a ported rom though. You may have to Odin back to stock and flash a froyo rom, in which case you would have the option in Rom Manager for the Vibrant recovery.

When you turn on the splash screen is probably saying G 9000 or one of those varieties so usually it would be the 9000 mtd
There are a couple variants with cm7 and miui you will on those get the vibrant or 9000 mtd and then it will ask in rom manager if you want 2mtd or 3mtd if I remember correctly in those cases refer back to the cm7 or miui forum somewhere in there it tells you which is preferred, OR just click the 3mtd and if doesn't work then reboot and try the other it won't hurt the phone.
I have tmobile's vibrant t959 and I had Nero w/voodoo on there and all I did was odin back to stock because I wanted to get ICS on the phone. well I knew I had a problem before I had dropped my phone and the service cut out it doesnt do anything since then but bootloop unless I have a ROM on there then it works PERFECTLY fine, So I assume it's an internal issue? Well I had used odin to go back to stock and the terrible bootloop started again. I tried to install a new rom after i installed the update.zip file but it WILL not go into clockwork recovery. The other day when I put Nero on there I didn't need rom manager or ANYTHING it was completely stock and all I did was do update.zip through install packages and then it brought me right to the Clockwork screen. Now after I hit install packages it just reboots to the loading screen and starts up the phone..then bootloops. I'm not too sure what to do I've installed every odin 1.7 1.3 everything every single JDF and pit file I can possibly find nothing works. I can't get into clockwork even though I have superuser and all that can anyone PLEASE give me some kind of advice? I just can't figure out how i got it to work the other day.. but I know it will work. Also I did put some kind of....clockwork thing through odin? brought me to a red clockwork but when I go to install the rom it doesn't so my SD Card just my internal phone one and I even tried putting the rom on there but it doesnt show up...Mind you I can't keep the phone on for very long before it restarts...maybe if i'm lucky i can put osmething on the SD card...I also have been using my other phone to put things onthe SD card then put the SD card back into my vibrant..please someone help I want to let my boyfriend use the phone.. I'm starting to feel like I should have just left Nero on there and never tried to put ICS on there...

You have to root it after you used Odin. You can't flash custom roms without that and custom recovery. Follow the sticky guides.

I am completely and fully aware that I have to root after i use odin......LOL i've been rooting and using roms for the last two years I just am currently having this problem...yeah it was a md5 tar and the pit and then the jfd tar. i dont know where i found it but now i cant apply roms. I dont know if i odin back with just the pit and jfd tar then i get a bootloop....and i know what i'm suppose to be using. i do understand how to do it that's not the problem at all so no I don't need to follow the stickys.. it's the fact that when I do it RIGHT i get the bootloop.

Try this, and please do it even if you already have.
Delete any update.zip you have on your sdcard and put this one on your internal sdcard. http://db.tt/5FWb4wT8
Odin jfd w/ repartition clicked (must be jfd, not ji4/5/6 or anything else).
No, boot into recovery, select "real install packages". And then the phone will reboot back to recovery. Select it again.
Now you *should* be able to install the rom you want, assuming you have a vibrant 3g (t959) and not a galaxy s 4g (t959v) or a t959d.
Also, what's the error number you are given when the flash fails?

Alright thank you i'm trying all this now and I'll let you know what happens. I'm just a little nervous because whenever i odin back to stock without doing it the other way I get the bootloop from hell. hopefully it doesn't happen.... The error that appears is error in sd/romname installation aborted. that's all it says.
Alright well I did odin, the same way I always do it. This time without the tar.md5 file just the regular JFD. This is such a pain in the butt with no service connection...even through wifi I cannot use the market so anything i need i have to download the APK until I get this rom working. -.- OH BAM! ur update.zip worked! butttt roms still are aborted and i'm back into a bootloop.
wait a minute...can I not go directly to ICS or any other rom if i'm coming from stock?...I barely remember not being able to do that....okay so i tried putting cm7 on there and same thing... installing:sdcard:update-cm-7ect.zip finding update package opening update package installing update checking state of BMLMTD assert failed:run_program("/tmp/updater.sh") == 0 e?:error in sdcard/update-cm-7.1.01-vibrant-sig-ned. (1).zip status 7 installation aborted.......wtf D: i am about to give up... i dont know how I had nero w/voodoo on here... i know i odin back to stock then through clockwork installed the zip.. i tried to get nero back but the website is gone and no other downloads for nero are anywhere...
