Hey guys i have a few questions, i have installed custom recovery and megatron rom. my question is
1)is it true everytime we boot our phone into custom recovery our phone will ne automatically taken to the factory reset?
2)for example, i want to install void rom, should i just straight forward install the rom eventhough i got megatron rom applied?
3)how do i overclock my phone, i have installed megatron rom but cant find any
4)how to create folders in the menu for tue megatron rom, i want to separate my downloaded apps wih my preinstalled apps from each other. There is no options available to create folder when i press options button in the menu. it sucks that my downloaded apps are together with my preinstalled apps
5)how to backup my downloaded apps, say, everytime if u boot ur phone into custom recover via three button combo your phone will taken to the factry reset and your downpoaded apps are gone right. so how to after i custom recovery, then restore my missing apps after factore reset my phone. i know theres two way to do that, with the custom recovery itself nand backup and titanium backup. but im not really sure how. Especially the tianium backup, say, i backup my files using titanium backup, then i install rom or something through custom recovery then of course, my downloaded apps will be gone after i reboot my phone right, and of course my tianium backup will be gone too. so how do i restore my apps if my titanium backp is gone.
So I got a replacement Vibrant from T-mo. I already rooted it, and now I am trying to figure out the easiest way to trasnser everything from my old phone (running Bionix, a 2.2 rom) to the new phone which is running JI6 2.1.
I already rooted and installed clockwork on the replacement. Can I just make a nandoid backup on the old phone, running bionix, and transer that nandroid backup to the new replacement phone running stock 2.1 and do a nandroid restore?
If I remember correctly, nandroid does not backup/restore the kernel...So should I just flash a 2.2 kernel on the new phone, then while still in recovery restore the nandroid backup from the old phone?
This seems like the easiest way to get the new replacement running like the old one.
Any help is appreciated
Edit- also, if I restore the nandroid, it should do my photos and videos too?
Yes. Just move your backup folder with the saved file into your clockwork mod folder inside your phone then you can run restore your old settings.
Thanks for the response. Regarding the kernel from current 2.1 and doing a nandroid restore to 2.2, do I need to flash a 2.2 kernel before the nandroid restore?

Nandroid does not restore your kernel. I would dl your kernel, put it in root of your sd,. Put the nandroid on the sdcard. Reboot into recovery, wipe, restore nandroid, clear cache, fix permissions, flash kernel. Reboot, let phone sit for 10mins, reboot, use as normal.
Edit.
Nandroid will only restore system, apps and app data. Pics and personal address content will not be included. For a full transfer you will need to copy your entire old sdcard to the new one... on the old phone - make Nandroid, copy entire sdcard to new phone, add kernel to the new sdcard and follow instructions above.
I tried copying my pics over and it made a folder in gallery with like 2100 thumbnails... I only have about 200 pics... its weird, looks like it just keeps repeating the pics over and over

That is strange. Did you copy the old sdcard to your computer first, do you still have a copy there, What does the backup folder contain?
Or it might be quicker just to mount the new sdcard, nuke the thumbnails and be done with it.
Hey there.
I had Lite'ning Rom 1.4 installed and decided to switch to VillainROM.
I did a full backup with Titanium Backup of all my user data and apps.
I did another backup in CMW, both successfully stored on the internal SD card.
I flashed VillainROM incl the tweaks, correct Kernel etc.
Now when I load Titanium Backup and want to restore my userdata like contacts, messages etc it does say it successfully restored the data but nothing is showing up, the contact list is still empty. So are the messages etc.
Since the Samsung stock apps are touched by VillainROM, is it possible the signatures are messed up or something?
I'm really a bit shocked I cannot seem to import the data, hopefully I'm just dumb and the data ain't lost
Please tell me that's the case...
Cheers for ANY advice on how to get my data back.
Okay, turns out I'm dumb.
A simply reboot did the trick, doh! It should say that somewhere...
Nevermind me, I will go into my corner and be ashamed of myself
Hi, my gs2 is rooted with CF-Root, this is the FIRST time i have done all this as im new to Android. Last night i did a nandroid backup and a titanium backup, factory/cache wipe etc before i then flashed villainrom 2.4.2 for the first time with success and now my phone is obviously like it was out of the box but on villainrom, so all my apps, contacts etc have gone.
I have a few questions:
Whats the best way to restore everything and get my contacts and apps etc back? do i have to recover with nandroid or titanium?
whats the difference between these 2 backups i made, nan/titan?
also does recovering any of these backups affect the custom rom i just flashed? ideally i would like to know for when im flashing custom roms in the future, which is the best way to back things up then recover them after i have flashed a custom rom?
One last thing is can i still use samsung kies to backup/sync things like contacts/photos with a rooted gs2 running villainrom?
Sorry for these noob questions, any help is really appreciated! THX!
Sorry to post again but can anybody adivise me on the above?
Thanks.
A nand backup = backup your current setup, like an image (including ROM)
Titanum = backup apps +/ data
Now that you flashed a new rom, you should restore with Titanium your apps.
So - If you want to go back to your earlier ROM + everything, use your nand back up. If you want to stay on this ROM and have the apps back, use Titanium.
And once you flashed a custom rom, you can't use Kies anymore to update/back up etc.
Cheers
Right i wasnt fully sure so thx for the help, time to restore some apps!
Thanks again
Just a quick question for you guys. I have been using my Nexus 10 for a while now, but just recently got into all the "custom ROM" stuff. I wanted to know, that if I just backup my Apps + User Data, then flash a custom ROM, then restore those Apps + Data, will it work? Also, will it mess up the ROM anyway? Thanks a ton.
As long as you don't restore any system data (anything in red) you should be okay.
Also don't forget to make a nandroid backup before flashing a new rom.
One more thing, if any of your apps can backup their own data I'd create a backup that way too. Just in case.
every will be ok
