Hi to all the Streak owners!
I've made a live wallpaper a while back that allows you to use your own videos as a live wallpaper. Since I'm a Nexus One owner, I've posted about it over at the Nexus One forum.
Link to the thread is here. Official website is here.
As I understand Dell Streak received the Froyo update recently. Ever since then I've been receiving error reports of my live wallpaper not working on the device.
I want to make sure that these are isolated incidents and it's not common to all Dell Streaks.
So I kindly ask you to try the live wallpaper out to see it if plays videos or crashes.
Please report your situation back, together with the version of Android you have.
I'd not mind a logcat either in case it does crash (and you know how to get a logcat).
Thank you very much for your reports!
thanks mate
So far it works on mine. However I have only tested it with video recorded by my streak. Will try other types tomorrow to see if they work too. I run dj steves 1.5.1 froyo ROM, dont know if the offical one has troubles or not.
This works perfectly well on Steves 1.5
It force closes everytime I try and open the app via adding a wallpaper, I get a black screen with "loading live wallpaper..." and the "set wallpaper" and "settings" buttons at the bottom, even if I press the force close button that appears, I remain on this screen, that means I can enter the settings and select a video etc, but if the force close message appears again then I appear back on the black screen with the "loading live wallpaper..." message, even if I select a video and back out, nothing happens either so it's not working at all for me. I'm on official 2.2 bb-318 v12821 with performance tweaks.
I just tried a few more files. No problems with flv, divx, or mp4s. Even let the first couple of minutes of an episode of Legend of Galactic Heroes play without issue.

Thanks to both of you. Would it be possible for you to get me a logcat?
Or alternatively, use the report button on the Force Close dialog, and write in the comment that you're from xda and your username, so I'll be able to connect you with the proper report.
Oh, and happy holidays!

Anyone able to get the slideshow to work from your gallery? Mine tells me I need to choose at least two photos, lets me select them, then freezes. Anyone able to get it to work?
TIA
As long as you have photos in the gallery it should work. I've had at least 4 or 5 and I hit the slide show button it pops up and says display in Landscape and I normally click the box and it runs.
mine runs here no problems at all.
Forgive me for posting here but i saw no infinity section
Got my 700t today and in spite of seeing some people had problems, mine was fine until i began using ADW EX
It got rave reviews yet all i get are lags and in particular, have to hit the app drawer button several times. Is this typical?
Second, the wallpapers are screwed up. Once i took the original one off i cannot get a full screen one on
1. Picspeed says it has run out of memory and closes
2. Wallpaper wizard gets it right landscape but once you turn portrait it loses part
I wpuld really appreciate anyones help as this is my first tablet
I am having those problems plus i cant figure how to access 'my apps' in PLAYSTORE
plus...how do people type? My arm is ready to fall off just from typing this
Thank you
Eric
Hi,
Im sure most of you will look at it as a stupid question
But im an android noob, so sorry in advance.
My question is this:
When I'm trying to play a flash video on my HTC one internet browser I don't have the option to make it play in full screen.
The best I can do is flip the phone to landscape and try to fit the video to my screen.
Is there anyway to force it to play in full screen or to at least show a button to do so?
Maybe I'm missing some sort of update to be able to this natively?
Thanks in advance.
Press the button that says full screen just like you would on a computer

I don't have that button.
It only shows up on Chrome browser.
But not in the default internet app, nor in Firefox
Any time there's a flash video it should look exactly like it does on the computer so unless you post pictures of what you're talking about I can't really help you

Alright I got some screenshots.
The one with the grey box is Firefox
The other one is the native internet app
Dunno why it only uploads 1 attachment.
Here's the Firefox one

before you start the video their was 4 choices at the bottom to view in Auto/HD/high/low-rez
choose HD turn phone on it's side and scroll down a little its full screen now.
I also found in the stock browser you have to enable flash in the settings and it also went full screen with a double tap on the screen
I don't know how it shows on your screen, but even when choosing HD it's still the same.
Native app is even worse, all the touch controls seem corrupt.
Just wanted to add that its been like that since day1.
And that's even after doing a clean flash of 4.3 about 2 weeks ago.

native browser is not bad but the controls are strange on GameSpot
tap around it will go full screen and works like any other YouTube video for me
Yup, tapping the lower right corner in the native app worked just fine and went full screen.

I get "invalid post id" when trying to edit OP to [solved]
Enable background playback in YouTube.
Supported YouTube versions: 10.03.5 and 10.04.5.
What are you serious!? Damnn thanks!!!
How to use it? I installed it. Activated. Rebooted. Went to YouTube. Selected a song. Pressed the menu button. It stopped. Went back in. Played the song again. Pressed the multi tasking button. It stopped again.

Using a nexus 4
Just enable and reboot. Check if you have YouTube 10.03.5 (latest version).
After reboot, just play any video, press Home button to go to other ap or lock your screen. Playback will continue.

Word. Does not seem to be working. Or I do not know how to activate it.
PS.. After reading your response, I do have that version of YouTube
Hm module seem to affect outdated YouTube app, 10.04.5 is the newest YT app version and 10.03.x is supported by the module..
However, I don't doubt that it works. Thank you, great idea. Hope for update soon.
Yisss. Will try this!
Thanks.
It works but is kind a buggy, when you press home music stop and when you lock the screen it does work, when you go back to the app it lags a lot !!

Yeah, it does like, same on my device, but good work anyway
Okey, 1.0.1 is out. Support for 10.04.5
Basically, this feature is in code but only YouTube Music Key users can use it. With this module anybody can use it! Don't blame me for implementation - I did not make it. I just patched one check for "allow/deny background playback" (check source code for more details).

Unfortunately, for the very reason you just mentioned (enabling a paid feature for free), this is not allowed on XDA (forum rules). Thread closed.
After a few minutes, the screen shrinks and goes into the lower right-hand corner very small for some reason. Why and how can I fix it? Very annoying trying to find a fix for this. Other than that the phone is great.

Could you specify exactly which app is doing this?
Are you referring to Picture-in-Picture mode?
What device and O.S. version are you using?
When I am watching any YouTube or Netflix video

I am watching a video at lunch I downloaded from Netflix or watching live Netflix or YouTube at home on WiFi and the screen shrinks to the lower right-hand corner and I have to quickly tap the enlarge button or the video quits completely and I go back to the Netflix home page and start again. This is very aggravating, I didn't have this problem with my crappy LG V10.
I am using the new Samsung Note 9. Whatever OS came with it is what it has now. Just two weeks old. Everything else works great so far.
I do nothing for the phone to make its own adjustment. I don't touch it and it shrinks. Makes watching movies a pain.

Try this:
Go in phone settings and select the "Apps & notifications" option,
then in Advanced select "Special Access" and then "Picture-in-picture"
Tap YouTube and turn off "Allow picture-in-picture”.
Repeat for all affected apps,
Hope it helps
Netflix
Did not have that option and still shrinks while I am watching.

Also still shrinks down into the lower right-hand corner after a few minutes watching as well. I guess I will have to call up Samsung and figure out what the problem is.
