[Q] Having a ringtone issue! - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So Here's my issue:
I'm trying to put the awesone sound pack that came with the AOSPish rom posted a week or so ago onto my phone, which is now running a different rom (Nero's gingerbread look alike)
I don't want to put the tones on internal sd because I use the phone as my primary portable music player, and it's very annoying to have that stuff show up in the music player or DoubleTwist.
So when I place the files in /System/Media/Audio/*insert respective folder here* and reboot, the tones show up in the list for ringtones/notifications, but do not have spaces, do not play if selected, and do not play if I try to access them through ASTRO. The stock tones, however, do play through astro.
Now, I thought that this was an issue with the fact that I have a mac, and was getting file forks in there messing up the sound files. after zipping the audio files and unzipping with astro on the phone, This is not the case. the files play fine on internal sd until I transfer them to the system audio folder.
so my question is this: is there some ringtone manifest some where that tells the phone what ringtones are actually ringtones or something?
Thanks.

mp3 problem...

Hi folks,
My Hero runs on 2.1.
I've recently moved some music onto my phone but no matter what I do, the mp3s are not detected by either the stock mp3 player or MixZing player. When I access the actual mp3 files through Linda file manager and open them using MixZing, they play, but I get an error about tags missing.
After seeing this error, I've downloaded a couple of different tag editors and made sure every single field (i.e. genre, artist, etc.) was filled out properly. Still, the problem remains: no mp3 player on the Hero detects these mp3 files.
Anyone run into this problem before and know the fix?
Thanks!
Problem solved. The way windows media player synced the files was not good. I replaced them manually in a different folder and, presto.
Mods, you can close or delete this.

Custom Ringtones not showing up

I cannot get my custom ringtones to show up in any of my listings for notifications or anything, I have even done the sdcard/media/ringtones/notifications/alarms option withing the media folder but to no avail I cannot find them? Any suuggestions
Well, the correct order of the folder to create is: media inside this create a folder called audio. In audio folder create three folders called: alarms, notifications and ringtones. Now into these folders put your files to play as a ringtone, notification or alarm as well.
I have a little problem with this, the media scanner do its job and the sounds appears in the media player too! Damn , I tried to fixed with the ".nomedia" file into the folder but then the media scanner doesn't put the files as ringtones.
I'm looking for a solution for this, as soon as I have it I'll tell you!!

Music File Mirroring in ICS

The ICS system seems to show duplicates of my music files, I first noticed this using my long time player Poweramp where I would see 2 of each file - in the Poweramp folder manager I will see my music folder in several locations, specifically in 5 places:
/mnt/sdcard
/emmc
/mnt/
/sdcard
/mnt/emmc
Not sure why the PowerAmp file system shows my music files in all these locations (I have a 32GB external MicroSD), but it does, and then why doesn't it show 5 duplicate files in PowerAmp instead of just 2? I have tried deleting the music folders from some of these locations and have lost the music files in the other places, so they are all linked instead of being duplicates.
What's strange is that if I look at my file system using Root Explorer (or similar file manager), I don't see duplicates of my music files?
Whilst I can resolve this in Poweramp's music folder selection tool, it isn't the case with other music players.
Anyone got some ideas on how to resolve this as it's a royal PITA if let's say I wanted to try MIUI - the stock player doesn't have the same folder selection ability that PowerAmp does, so I see 2 of everything.
I've got the same problem, i changed to meridian player because it lets you select the folders that it gets your music from. I didn't have this problem with Passion, only on Docs when i updated the other day. The stock player worked when i wasn't using DSP manager but when i applied some effects everytime i tried to open the music app it just rebooted the phone. So if you run Docs ROM maybe reflash and disable DSP manager.

[Help] Old music not showing up in file manager(s), but is found in media players

Hey guys
My S3, running Jellybam 6.3.0, works fine, but there is a little issue that I'm experiencing
and it's become pretty irksome.
I had 8gb of music on an iPod that I transferred to my PC, then to and SD card, which I now use for my GS3.
All of my past music appears in music players and play fine, but any new music that I download from the phone doesn't show up.
I thought maybe the music players weren't scanning for mp3 files in the download folder, so I decided to move them from the downloads folder
to my Music folder with all my other files.
Here's the problem:
The file manager doesn't seem to "see" for find any of the old music, despite all of the media players finding it no problem.
Also, any new music I download can be searched for an played in a music player, but it is never added to the library.
I decided to mount my phone to my PC do double check, and all of my music is there in the Music folder, which is on the root of my sd card.
Has anyone else had this issue

Did you try to wipe data and install everything again??
Might be a DRM issue?

How can I get my phone to recognize ALL of my music and not just some?

I recently added all my music (roughly 90GB of music) to a Sandisk 128 GB Class 10 microSD. I put this microSD into my phone and my music players were unable to locate all the music. I don't know how, but at one point, all my music was finally scrollable. After some tinkering with the ".nomedia" file, all my album artwork showed up in my gallery. I've since then installed QuickPic to deal with that annoyance. However, I have been unable to look at all my music again. The majority of my music are in one big folder with no name in the stock music player. In Shuttle, every song in it is called "null - null". If I click on the album, Shuttle crashes. When I go to the songs tab, they're all there and playable, but are still under null-null and makes it very difficult to browse and select the music I want to listen to. When using file explorer (ES File Explorer), I can see all the artist folders in my Music folder perfectly fine. How can I restore my phone's ability to view my entire library of music?
I've yet to try deleting everything off the card, and then retransferring, but that's a real pain in the butt that will take forever and I would rather do that as a final option (though I don't know if that would even help).
I have tried deleting my music players' data and uninstalling/reinstalling them. I have tried restarting my phone and unmounting/mounting my SD card, but still no luck.
Oh, and I am rooted on QF6 Hybrid Nougat ROM on T-Mobile S7.
Have you tried another music apps besides shuttle to work with, eg. Poweramp, black player?
Any possibilities your sdcard is corrupted or something, I mean like incompatible file system, fat, fat32, exfat, ntfs that maybe not compatible with your current roms kernel?
