Working video chat?

Has anyone found a video chat app that works??

no not yet ... im new to this htc/droid stuff but im thinking they need to update all the apps for our phone .
i use yahoo messenger and it works ok
tango works and supposedly skype
Tango worked for me
I successfully used Tango with an iPhone user, but none of the other solutions worked.
I assumed Google Talk would work, but boy, was I wrong. I am almost a bit appalled that it was not ready, especially with no Skype. At least Skype was clear that they are working on something. Hopefully they will launch that for the Xoom at the same time.
Oovoo was an utter failure for me. Used the rear camera only and no sound.
Fring did not utilize video for Google Talk or MSN Messneger, so I didn't really try it.
I think if there is egg on Verizon's face, it is over not having a video chat service working for us.
i use tango, works pretty well, but for some reason get a screeching noise when tango'ing with another thunderbolt
Tango works for me. I was also able to make a video chat with a iphone that also had tango installed.

yeah what is up with that. Tango with iphone users work fine but with another thunderbolt and the audio doesnt work at all and makes crazy skreetching noises then mute.. kinda weird.

[Q] Skype for X8?

I am thinking buying this phone and found conflicting posts regarding Skype support.
Can Skype be installed from the market for the X8?
If so, does free Skype to Skype voice calling work?
How is the voice quality on the X8? Is it choppy?
Thank you.
I can reply the first question no more jaja, yes it can, do you need the "Market Enabler" (download it from the market) and choose T-Mobile and you will see all apps from the market, search for skype and voila!
greetings sorry for my english jaja
for Market Enabler do you need a rooted phone

I use skype from time to time, but it drains the battery even offline, so when I'm not using it, I uninstall it. I called via wifi, and quality was great!
There are lots of apps like skype on market, whatApp, Nimbuzz...

It depends on your location, whether or not the market supports it. As for quality, yeah, it's great. The Skype Voice to Voice works (No video calling), and chat works like a charm. You can get it off of freewarelovers(dot)com, where there's a repository of free apps. Also, based on your connection, that's how your call quality will be.
Skype 3.0 chat and call.
I searched for skype the first day I bought my X8, some people on forums have problem finding it the market( some countries do not have full apps on the market). The alternative is to enable your phone to install apps from unknown places, then download it from brothersoft.com/mobile and install form SDcard.
Skype is working like a charm, chat, calls, skypeout.
Try using this link. You need wifi/3G active on your phone and you must be logged into your google account(be on market), and you can install it directly, by clicking install from the site.

Best video calling app

I'm using tango right now but the sound quality its terrible. Anybody have a better suggestion ?
does any really even use video calling here?
I tried using Tango and even on wifi it is slow. The sound/video is choppy. I installed Fring but havent tried it as of yet.
I actually like Tango. It's really one of the only apps ive used for this but seems to run fine for me. A bit lagged initially but once connected, works fine.
I wish Skype had support for the Atrix and video calling (

I've been trying a number of different options:
1. Tango. This one works the best. We've had good luck with it - if you can connect to the server. Most of the time we get a good connection, but sometimes we can't connect to the server. I'm not sure if it's because of the speed of our Internet at the time, or an overloaded server on their part. One of the things I really like about it, though, is that you can use it with anyone on apple or android OS who has at least one video camera. If they only have a rear-facing camera, it works. They just can't see you at the same time that you see them. We've used in on the Atrix, iPhone 3GS and iPad 2. Other pluses are that it can be used over WIFI or 3G and it rings on the recipients device whether they are logged in or not. It rings just like a phone call would. Audio seems good to me - once I turned up the volume.
2. Fring - that just keeps crashing on my phone. I haven't gotten very far.
3. Qik - The video that it took and uploaded would not play. Horrible quality. Not sure what the problem was.
4. Oovoo. It will work on a computer. Looks like it has possibilities, but it does not yet totally support the Atrix or the iPhone. I installed it on my Atrix. You can open it, but the call is still not totally working right. They say they are working hard to make it compatible with more phones.
5. Skype - I guess we all know about the audio problem here. That static makes it unusable for a voice call. Why oh why can't we get that fixed and add video? Skype says it's working on it for the Verizon network. Can they do that - just have android video Skype on one network? Skype video works great on our iPad 2. We can prop it up and have long conversations with the relatives.
tango video is ok for me however teh audio is soo choppy i cannot carry a conversation. Soo much for a front facing camera
I use qik, works well for me. Though I only video with the wife on her atrix also, so not sure how it is cross phone types.
Tango was horrid on the audio for me also..
I hear the yahoo messenger plugin for video chat works (even phone to PC) except only on the back camera... front cam doesn't seem to work on alot of the phones with it.
Using Qik for Atrix. Works great for me. Don't really video chat with anyone on another OS so this works great.
I've tried the Qik app, but it didn't list any of my contacts. And that made it a hassle to use. Tango seems simpler. All your contacts are updated. Qik doesn't have this ability apparently. Tango on the other hand was very "choppy" for me too. The lag between video and audio drives me crazy. But as most have said, this only seems to happen when reception is poor. I've had nothing but bad experiences with Qik. Its been hit or miss with Tango. But I'm gonna stick with it. I'm gonna be deleting Qik soon, Too much hassle.

[Q] I'm looking for a good call recorder for ICS

Hi everybody
I'm looking for a good call recorder for a sony xperia mini pro running a rooted android 4.04 ICS, no custom rom & no custom kernel until now (I've got it just from last week)
I've been recording ALL my calls since 2006 with a crappy nokia N70 (symbian s60) with an amazing app called "ultimate call recorder" by ultimateportable.
Never had a problem. When my mem card was full, the oldest calls were deleted, the app started and stopped automatically with my phone so
I didn't need to worry about it, only when I needded to look for a concrete recorded call for some reason. No beeps during call or other strange sounds, just...a good portion of code doing its job.
Now I've just migrated to android, I can play guitar with my phone, there are apps for...everything, but I still haven't found a good app who can even do a piece of what "ultimate call recorder" use to do in my old symbian s60 phone. At the end of the day, I'm using a phone...not a guitar, a game console or a music player. So I want it to do its job as a phone of this age and record my calls like the 2006 nokia N70 still does. It's amazing how a device like this can run debian & things like that, but what i really need for my job is a good call recorder
I'm pretty new to android and there's a lot of confusing info about this topic, I've tested a few free apps and a few trial apps and no luck until now, so thanks in advance.
Bump!
I am in the same situation mate. Have an xperia mini pro (sk17i) with rooted ICS, no custom rom or kernel. Except I don't have an N70
I've been using "Call Recorder by Clever Mobile" for about a week but it's a piece of crap (both in recording quality and in features).
I finally got fed up with it and spend am hour just now looking for alternatives once more.
All I found was this thread, and some app which doesn't work in ICS...
So, is there anyone with a (fairly low end) Xperia phone (perhaps from the 2011 range) who can recommend us a call recorder?
I'm using CallRecorder on GB. Don't know if it works on ICS. Try it!

they removed call recording feature in ICS.
I had a lot of apps that did that in ginger bread when i updated it to ICS none of them worked.
The only work around is rooting your phone and installing cutom kernel that brings this feature back to ICS.

I heard something about that. But then how come Call Recorder by Clever Mobile works in ICS? I mean the audio is a bit muffled and clipped, and overly compressed, but it records both parties just as well.
Regardless, can you give a little bit more details on this? What kind of kernel? What keywords shall I search for?
