My files .apk - Vibrant Themes and Apps

can anyone please post the .apk of the my files? I'm using the gingerbread clone and this doesn't have it. I really want to use this Rom but it's missing this application.

In Rom Manager, go to Download Rom>sonofskywalker3>Stock Apps and try the My Files apk from there. It will turn it into a CWR flashable zip. Just make a backup before just in case.

It has the app, its called system manager

you got 2 options already (emphasis, you already have it), but may I ask why use this when there are a lot of file managers already available in the market which are a lot better. This is one of many bloat apps that I remove.

For me this one is much easier to use and it's simple. It has everything that i needed on a file manager.

i tend to remove it too, and use the file manager (white folder icon) from the market, but hey, the question was posed. again OP, its in Ginger Clone R2, called the system manager, basically the same app, just a different title. you can even go to the system/app folder and see its there, labeled as myfiles.apk, but displays as system manager in your app drawer.

the problem with system manager is that i can't rearrange the folders alphabetically. Well, maybe i'll just try some file manager in the market.

Ah ok. Its not that its not there, just not what you're used to working with. The file manager I mentioned above arranges alphabetically by folder and then by file. Give it a shot. There are plenty of others out there as well, linda manager was an old favorite of mine you might like.

If you mean the flashable .zip, itll go to root of your sd card

I tried to use the stock My files too since I don't really trust the permission to the ones in the market..
But I will try the white icon File manager in the market

[Q] Removing Bloatware w/ Titanium

So I got got root, after having a long and hard decision, because I soft-bricked my phone yesterday.
Anyway, I got titanium because no other apps were free on Market like Root Manager or Root Explorer.
When I go to Backup/Restore I get a list, but they're not apps, they're stuff like:
Accounts
Application Widgets
Bluetooth Pairings
Country, Language, Time zone
Wi-Fi Access Points
but I want to delete the Avatar, TeleNav, and others.
PS, I've tried searching, didn't help me, so please don't tell me to "SEARCH". OH and I also read the sticky, didn't help x]
Any help is gladly appreciated
Does anybody know how? Please?
I prefer File Manager, it's free and pretty easy to use and delete all the Bloatware. Download it, open it and navigate to My Phone>system>app and look for the apk you want removed.
Is it ASTRO file manager, eFile - File Manager, or just plain "File Manager"?
Oh and what is .odex and .apk? Should I delete both?

.odex is the file before deodexing.
.apk is the output once deodexed.
Yes, delete both.. But I would recommended titanium to uninstall. And there is a link in the sticky that tells you all of the .apks & .odex files you can remove...
Plain File Manager.
Here's a list of safe programs you can remove.
First off all the Standard Apps:
AccountAndSync.apk/odex -> The app in the drawer, not the settings.
AddToHome.apk/odex
AudioPostcard.apk/odex
Avatar.apk/odex -> The app that launches Avatar in the video player.
BuddiesNow.apk/odex
Dlna.apk/odex [Allshare]
FlashPlugin.apk/odex
GoGo.apk/odex
Infoalarm.apk/odex [Daily Briefing]
KindleStub.apk/odex
Layer-samsung.apk/odex
MediaHub.apk/odex
Memo.apk/odex
Mini Diary.apk/odex
MobiTV.apk/odex
MyAccountStub_4-5-10.apk/odex
Myfiles.apk/odex
Sims3_Samsung_Embed_Launcher.apk/odex
slackerradio.apk/odex
Swype-Tips.apk/odex
Telenav.apk/odex
thinkdroid.apk/odex [ThinkFree Office]
vvm-signed.apk/odex -> T-Mobile Visual Voicemail [can be re-downloaded from the market. for some reason that version is the preferred one.]
VoiceRecorder.apk/odex
VoceDialer.apk/odex
Writeandgo.apk/odex
TouchwizWidgets:
Day.apk/odex
DualClock.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_Calenderclock.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_Feedandupdate.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_stockclock.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_Weatherclock.apk/odex

Open SU and see if you accidentally denied it. If so click it if not then reboot your phone and open Ti again. That should prompt SU.

Ok this might be a stupid question but is there anyway to make this work on the mytouch 4g ? I moved from the vibrant to the 4g and I really dont want to use a normal task killer . I really liked how this worked . Thanks in advance !
Will this work on axura 2.2.5.7?
Update: I tried to install this but it didn't work. :-(

I downloaded and installed it right from this thread....didn't use root explorer. What is the correct way to install this, if mine was wrong.
*** Sent from my Samsing Vibrant (Axura 2.2.5.7) using xda app
Root Explorer or adb push to /system/app. Don't try to install like a normal app.
I just installed root explorer. Is this [LINK] a good tutorial on how to use RootExplorer... I couldn't find a step by step tutorial on xda.
root explorer is easy to use.
its just like using the stock files, but you can see other things that require root.
if your installing a app, and it won't let you install by just clicking it, then you go to the file, menu, copy/move, then go to system/app/ then paste/move it there, and then get out of that app, and in your app drawer, the app should be installed.
I'm running Cyanogen Mod on my Vibrant, and trying to get this APK installed. Using Root Explorer, I copied/pasted the APK to the system/app directory, but this didn't do anything.
Other things I tried:
- Opening all permissions to the APK that is in the system/app directory
- Rebooting
- Verifying that "allow non-market apps" is checked
- Using Root Explorer to browse to app, selecting it and choosing "install"
Nothing is working. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this an incompatibility between the Task Manager "JobManager.apk" and Cyanogen?
Thanks in advance for anyone's advice.

More than likely, its an incompatibility issue between I'm assuming a 2.2 ROM and a CM7 which is 2.3.

Help Downloading "Add-ons" for Bionix v5?

I just downloaded Bionix v5 and at the bottom of the original post it says "add-ons" I would really like to have the Swype app since I do not like the one I currently have but Im not sure how I download those add-ons to my phone. Can someone just give me a quick explanation on how to download them?
Thanks!
Swype comes with bionix.

he means the newer one.
theres plenty of links on these forums, and you must go to system/app/ and delete anything with swype
then system/lib/
and delete swypecore.so or lib something like that.
then reboot.
then install the new swype.apk you found.
then use the swype installer to generate a licesnse and then validate it, and get the language packs.

You don't run the .apk. Just move them to the right folder. /system/app/ I think that's it. Then you can open it from the app drawer.

that + you'll probably need to change the permissions on avatar.apk (I had to do this very recently).
AFAIK, you can't use astro to change permissions (or I at least gave up trying to figure that out). Instead I had to get Root Explorer (~$4.00 or so) so I could change the permissions on the things that needed to go in system/apps.
IIRC, for avatar, you'll need to set the permissions to rw-r-r then reboot before it'll show up in the app drawer on your phone.
I just flashed the zips and they installed.

remnants of deleted apps

I used the BlueMonkey theme by Jivy26, however I didn't like the GoSMSPro. I deleted the app via titanium backup, and used File Explorer to confirm it was deleted. However, it still shows up as being installed in the market place and I have the icon in my app list (although it says the application is not installed on my phone) How do I manusally remove the icon from the app list?

I guess the best thing to do is to reinstall the app and uninstall from the task manager or go to settings-applications and uninstall from there.

i have tried that actually...it just uninstalls forever, and never actually deletes it.

Make sure that the app is not running in the background or as a service.
Reboot the phone and go into settings>applications>running
services and see if you can find the offending app there.
If you can find it there, click on it and select STOP".
Then if all goes well you will be able to do a complete unistall.
Not running as a service =\ Is there a place where those icons are located on the phone itself? I could delete it through root explorer if I could find it.

icons for applications are stored within the apk itself....if the apk is gone, the app is gone.
try uninstalling them and then wipe cache/dalvik cache in CWM

If you know how to use root explorer to delete files
you can go into root of phone /system/apps and find
the offending APK name and delete with root explorer.
Some apps will have a "com." before the actual app name
so look for that too.
Good luck!
