untill it starts to be in all the roms, any way to flash this?
i have the apk, tried to do it through App Installer
gonna try adb next
a few people are having problems with getting it to work on cyanogen based roms
I assume, though I could be totally wrong, that there will be no need to flash this or install it. Your market will just show up looking like that someday. In engadget's post about it, they mention "Google's pushing the update to every Android 1.6-and-above device over the next couple of weeks".
im not sure when ill add it ,, looks like some people are haven issues with apps ,, also not sure if i like the fact that if u pay for a app u only have 15 minutes to ask for a refund ,, what if the app works fine , then later on it doesnt work right? i guess u bought a bad app lol i dunno not sure if i like that
As far as I can tell, it's all just a new interface, plus, they changed things like only having 15mins now to get a refund instead of the 24hrs... which is kind of retarded.
The new market is working fine, all apps dloaded with it stick after reboot. If you're using this on a 2.1 rom, delete the Vendor.odex file in system/app if your rom isn't deodex'd already.
if you're on a CM rom, just rename the .apk to Vendor.apk (if it's named something else) and put it in system/app using adb or a file manager.
I attached it already renamed if anyone wants it...
So this is not a pushed update as engadget stated? How are all the other non-rooted android users gonna get it?

I'm not sure exactly, my guess would be through your google account, since it isn't a carrier specific update...
anyone know the answer to this?
I can make a flashable zip for those interested... even though all of you should be able to use adb or a file manager and place it in system/app by now
A flashable zip would be great. How did the market get the new "similar" and "related" tabs? I assumed this update would be pushed the same way. Btw, where are you getting the file to even make a flashable zip? Is it in the Android SDK or something?

you can find it on a few sites for download
Any ideas I installed the new market wiped, cleared data and all I can do is open the market up. As soon as I select an app it force closes on me.

This zip works great for me so far. Though I dont like the new market. The tabs made it easier to flip between things and the rotating apps at the top is slow on a slow phone. It looks like they tried to make it look nicer (and failed in my opinion) but ended up making it less functional.
Google apps always look simple and sophisticated. This Market overhaul looks overdone and tacky with too much "pizzaz".

I flashed the market update. It's been working fine on nonsensikal 15.2.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback guys.
So I didn't flash the new market, but I have new features in my 'stock' market. Is this the new market that is all over the place?

Agreed!
hmmm it might just be preinstalled on new android devices, since i dont think any carrier would do a OTA update, so maybe only rooted users will have the new market for a while?
any other thoughts?
flashed thanks man, works fine on froshedyo v7 2.2.1

Yeah, that shocked me. 15 minutes isn't much time to make sure an app works fine for your purposes. For apps that have free/trial versions, then you can check those out first, but what if it's the paid options that don't sufficiently work. I think one or two hours is reasonable, but 15 minutes is ridiculous.
I think ROMs should keep the current version of the market and people can use flashable zips to go to the new version if they want.
I don't get the music beta app in the market. When I try to download it online it tells me my eris is not compatible. Is this a hardware thing? Will it never become available? Same issue with the Netflix app.

There are a couple of apk's floating around that will install on the Eris of each of those apps. I've tried out the Music app and it worked fine for me until you put it into landscape mode and try to do something. Then it would force close. The Netflix app installed with no problem, however, for it to work on the Eris it seems you have to modify the build prop to make your phone look like a Nexus and even then I'm not sure it will work properly. The netflix app alone with no data and not signing in is 26.1 MB in size installed on the phone... That's a big app... More than double the size of maps.
This kind of thing happens when an app is not officially "supported" on our phones, like if you searched for Flash player 10.3. But if you get the .apk, there is always that slight chance that is may work [And here's a link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1072655]
OK, here's how nube I am. What do I do with an apk? Do I need something like root manager to open and install it?

download es file explorer from the market. find the apk and click on it should take you to a download screen.
Running rooted (but not unlocked) US version. So much for checking out how it works now - it's not in the installed apps list - though it is there in the Settings/Apps and in the apk is there in System/App listing.
I hid root with Rootkeeper - restore root seems to have worked. Permissions look OK in the list. It just won't install manually or from reboot.
Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone got any ideas on how to get it to install?
If you haven't done this yet, check out ics+ browser. It's the stock browser with improvements its in the play store.

I had that installed but it just crashes. I guess the clue is in the name of the app and we will have to wait for JB+ Browser .
I am happy enough using Chrome for now but just keen to get the stock one working. I wonder if it has something to do with running ram2browser before which I uninstalled (along with the APTweaks app) before I did the upgrade?

I thought Chrome was supposed to be the stock browser in JB?
It is, but the thing is Chrome does not support Flash... So i have it installed but i need at least an option for flash content. But i guess i'll find something else if ICS+ doesnt work
There is a holo browser in the android apps forums. I love it! See if that works.

The browser I assume is stock is just called Browser.apk v 4.1.1. This is the one installed by the update (or rather the one dumped into System/App but not installed lol). Is this working for others? The version of Chrome I already had installed works fine - apart from Flash of course. But I had gotten quite used to the ICS stock.
Has default desktop...would like apk.
Yes that would great if someone can get the apk.
guys it's just Google chrome...
The shock.. now that people realize

May be you havent noticed that the Op mentions that it has the Desktop as deffault,it is exactly that function is that we want and dont care if it is Chrome or not.
Now lets see, does the Chrome you mentioned has also Fullscreen in the settings?
well its available from here
but i cant get it working on my note
pushed it into system>app and change permission to rw-r-r still no go.
need some tricks maybe.
It will simply not replace the stock browser in the system even if it does will not run properly,we need an apk.
Hello everyone,
I'm coming from a Galaxy S2 running ICS. When I would click to play a video from the default internet browser, I would get prompted for the video player. I'm assuming that it has something to do with flash compatibility? In any case, I really liked this behavior since I could choose MX player (stream) or Internet (download). This was very handy and I would love to be able to have that functionality on my new device.
I'm now using a Galaxy S4 running KitKat 4.4.2 and it seems that all videos play inline and I can't choose any other apps. Is there a way to get that functionality back?
Thanks for any insight you may have!
Nope. Android killed all flash plug-ins and apps are now made to play videos inline. Not to mention the option to download was breaking alot of rules.

Say it aint so!! Should this have been working in ICS? I'm wondering because if it's been disabled since before ICS, maybe I can still find a way around this...?

You might be able to get around this by using outdated apks from before they started using the inbuilt browsers but be warned that if you download the videos google has the right to term you account. Other then that there is nothing you can do. Flash has been dead for a long time now.
