Any sd problems with the stock odex version. How about sending mms and any wifi problems? Thanks want to make sure before I flash! Thanks.

Actually bricked? That's surprising. Unless it failed during the transfer of the bootloader, it likely could have been flashing again through odin or heimdall even it failed the first time. It was probably easier to send it in though.
Anyway, I am unaware of any "current" release of any ROM released by TW, Eugene, Master, etc that still exhibit the mounting issue still. So, there should be quite a few working roms for you to choose from if you are / have been good about reading / following instructions before flashing them. Perhaps flashing a JL4 based one might work for you.

JUST THE MOUNT ISSUE?
try these:
-Ginger Clone R2
- Axura 2.2
- Nero
Those are a few from a handful. the new froyo ones dont have mount issues unless if you do some random crap on it.

Ok just making sure.that my sd cards are going to let me transfer files without any dam errors showing up. Or only shows like 2gb when I have 12gb internal and a 8gb sd card installed. Last leaked stock Froyo Rom I had installed had those errors and had a Mountingfix.zip I could flash but didnt always work and also could not send MMS without getting server issues. Tried switching to Leaked Froyo Rom from samfirmwares.com using Odin but bricked my Vibrant. Dont want that to happen again.but want Froyo Rom stock one if possible. Without so many bugs and issues. Going to try the odex stock froyo rom. Hope I dont run into any issues.just but on internal sd card and flash with Rom Manager right? Thanks a million.

I'd be interested in this as well. Would be nice to boot a mostly stable gingerbread and switch to froyo for things that aren't 100% in the gingerbread rom.

You already have the option. Sombionix posted a Gingerbread that will install on your SD card so you can play with it. To get back to froyo you just need to flash a Froyo ROM. Kind of dual booting.
But as far as other things go: WP7 will likely never (ever) happen. And most devs will probably not take this on because it's just so much work about ~20 of restoring your apps via Titanium would solve.
Oh thanks for the tip, didn't know it installed on the internal sd card.

actually,
the NS port that Sombionix posted installs Gingerbread to /data/gingerbread. Doesn't install to your SD at all.
To get back to Froyo, all you need to do is ODIN a Voodoo kernel, and ban. back to the Froyo rom you already had. Seeing that it is still on your phone, all of your apps are already set up.
To go back to Ginger, just ODIN the ported ginger kernel from the package. (voodoo must be enabled 1st.
The only reason you have to ODIN is due to recovery not working on Ginger yet, however, I am working to resolve that, and will make a package you can just keep on your SD to be able to switch back and forth.
That's exactly what I'm waiting for! You rock!

Best Rom Build and flashing process...

Ive been looking and can't find an answer to this question, though I'm sure it exists somewhere.
When I flash a rom (this will be my first, from stock 2.1 planning to go to bionix v) do I need to flash the rom and then boot into the os, and then back into cwr to flash a modem, then boot again, and then back into cwr to flash a kernel. Or is this all done in one process?
If just one process how do I get the build I want together as one zip? If this the rom builder in the bible?
Last but not least.....what build (rom, modem, kernel) would you guys recommend for going from stock 2.1 that is stable, fast, smooth, and sweet?
Thanks in advance. XDA has taught me everything I know. (which isn't much but is growing everyday)

Root your phone then install rom manager. Download Bionix-V and place it on the main directory of your internal sd card. Then open rom manager and boot in to recovery. You may have to pick reinstall packages. Flash the bionix zip. Then choose reboot option. You don't need to flash anything else. The modem and rest are all in the bionix zip.

Im rooted and have rom manager, titanium, clockwork etc.... Also backed up with cw.
Basically Im at the point where I flash. But with all the posts I read about the different kernels and modems people are using I got confused.
Wasn't sure bionix v had a kernel and modem in it or if I had to put that together.
Is there anyone that would recommend nero over bionix for stability or are they both just as stable?
And if I wanted to use different modems or kernels how would I go about doing so?

Every person has their own suggestions. Bionix-V is great but so is Flagship V3. They all include the Kernel and modem so you dont have to flash seperatly. Read through the thread of the rom you want to flash and I amsure you will find out experiences with other Kernels and modems. But the best thing you need to do is start trying for yourself.

Yeah saw that too. Went in their IRC and asked but the ppl who were on told me it would only work with I9000 and the Captivate-i897.
I'm in the process of getting in touch with Darky to see which is true haha. If it does indeed support everything now, there will be a special installation method for Vibrants.
Go ahead and flash it...your problem not mine ;-),I flashed it and paid the price,it will not run on U.S. models....it will wipe your phone of everything,so be sure to back up everything on your pc as I did luckily.

hmm i pm'd him and he said to get the darky app
or something like that?
I was on their IRC this past day getting HOW to install his ROM.
Yes, it WILL work on a Vibrant but it will have a major BUG. The bug is the same as jellette/Heathen's Ragnarok 2.2.1 port that he tried a month ago. The phone will restart when it reaches a certain network strength value. I'm talking to jellete now to see if there is a fix for that but I don't think so as of RIGHT now.
If you wanna flash it though:
You need two things before you flash.
ENSURE you are on a 2.2 Froyo ROM (or 2.2.1 if you can get one). You will need the modem and kernel from the current ROM. Ensure the Kernel is i9000 based. This means you will need to use Morfic's DoW 1.4 or Ttabbal's Dragon 3.6.
Get the Darky's ROM App configurator from the market.
Get the Darky's 9.3 beta 1 ROM and copy it to your phone.
Using the app, uncheck flash kernel and modem. You do NOT want the flash to flash the i9000 kernel and modem that comes with the rom. You want your old ones.
Reboot into clockwork, flash the modified Darky ROM that DOES NOT include a kernel and modem.
Reboot.
NOTE: The Rom WILL WIPE your phone. You've been warned. Back up EVERYTHING and anything that may be of value to you and have ODIN ready in case anything goes wrong.
it seems too complicated, i'm a fan of darkyy's roms because a friend of mine has a I9000, and he had it running, and it was amazing, and no rom on Vibrant can compare to it. YET. The Devs here for the Vibrant are awesome, but darkyy's got more experience i guess, but his roms are just... faster, better looking for some reason.
I just PM'd Darkyy, and will reply on this thread if any response is made.
I suggested to him that he can chat with our Vibrant Devs as well and try to make it compatible with our device.

Hi there
I need to make this more userfriendly - yes, it works with any device (it's a bit basic for now)
For now, you guys just need to select "Skip Kernel" and "No-Modem" in the Darky App and then flash - btw, since v9.3 Beta 1, the automatical Wipe isn't there anymore
Will update the ROM soon
I'm off for 3 days now

There are really only two permanent fixes if you want 2.2.1.
1. EDTs 2.2.1 which is a hybrid at this point, incorporating the Vibrants stability with the 2.2.1 speed.
2. TWs Frost which is pure 2.2.1.
Neither of these are based on I9000 though, both are based on the V4g.

Roms question

So my little brother has an optimus T. And I wanna customize it now that we got the SD card to read. Since it's not my phone its hard to dig through all the info here. I understand rooting this device. I'm wondering which recovery you reccomend? I want to go with cwm but read some roms can't be flashed with that recovery? . What is required to move from froyo to gb? I think his firmware is 2.2? But I will check...
Lastly I know Its based on your needs but and suggestions for stable gb roms that are fast with oc ability. And maybe vc
Thanks.

To recovery flash your phone:
Download recovery image from here: http://www.megaupload.com/?f=XGKNWZQJ
I was advised to use the ClockworkMod Recovery disk image.
Unzip the file and put the disk image onto the SD card and mount the SD card on your phone.
From android market download the Terminal Emulator
Enter this code in the terminal:
$ su
# mount -o remount rw /system
# cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/xbin/flash_image
# chmod 755 /system/xbin/flash_image
# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
# mount -o remount ro /system
# reboot recovery
(# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img might give you an bad sector error but it works.)
Download and copy your preferred Cyanogen Mod onto the SD card.
Start the Terminal and write restart recover
This will boot into the recover mode select install zip from SD and select the MOD and install.
To get google apps back:
download zip put on SD card boot into recovery and select install zip from SD card
http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
Clockworkmod recovery,I use amonra 3.06 because of the development menu..there's also Team win recovery, the latest is 2.0.0 beta with theme support and touchscreen but its just a beta

The latest gapps contains the new updated market...if all you want is talk, than extract the gapps.zip, go to system folder than app folder and delete everything but talk than rezip file and flash...or once you extract gapps, find talk.apk and copy over to sdcard than using a file manager copy the file from sdcard to /system/app than set permissions to

X
Than reboot and talk will work

For the Optimus T, it's almost best you don't flash to the new baseband to retain the utmost compatibility. The new baseband has trouble with the 1700Mhz band, which means if you use 3G, you'll be missing half of your coverage.
Of course, if you don't use 3G, go right ahead. Users are reporting plenty of improvements that make the switch worthwhile. In that case, I would hop over to the O1 Development board and look through the first sticky (labeled Repository of HOWTOs, ROMs, MODs, etc). It has everything you'll need cleanly laid out.
In regard to Froyo: What I did was took the stock rom provided by T-mobile and tweaked it until I was happy with it. This allowed me to retain the highly superior LG Camera app/drivers, which you'll lose if you switch to a rom that doesn't use the LG framework (this includes LG's official Gingerbread). To top it off, I flashed fserv's modification of franco kernel (franco.Kernel-gbsV20a), which gives the stock rom a kick in the pants. Regardless of what kernel you use, make sure it has the touchscreen bug fix.
Finally, the issue you're experiencing with your SD card may not be entirely caused by the OS. The SD card that came with the phone is notorious for crapping out on people. If you can't afford to upgrade to a Class 10 SD card in the near future, I highly recommend that you at least backup its contents and format it from 2.2.2 or, ideally, a computer.

Sadly, none of the ones that aren't based on stock Froyo have the LG framework.
One of the features I found really essential was the manual focus. I hope they add support for this eventually.
Looks like I'm gunna back up stock and try Franco kernal. Then I'm looking at either Matt or mik's CM roms? Does either support oc?
Thanks

Can miks cm flash with either recovery. I'm having SD card issues and when I flashed cement via rom manager when booting recovery it hangs and resets the phone so I was going to try thunder recovery or whatever

Also getting E. Bad boot message "recovery" when booted into cwm?

The error message is common, you don't even need to worry about it...

Yes you can flash cm7 with any recovery image...some users suggest amonra and some suggest cwm 5.0.2.1
I'd tlgo to clockworkmod, its a lot easier for a noon to understand...I personally like amonra

About the wiping of your sdcard...im guessing you had partitioned your card without knowing what you had done..also sometimes cheap sdcards don't exactly cut it...its best to use a class 10 sdcard

Flashing jb rom

Hey guys I'm having some trouble flashing jb roms. It always freezes during the install. I'm currently on ics.

I never flashed from ICS that I recall. However, you could Odin back to stock. Flash a good stable froyo and try to flash up from there.
I don't remember now if GB boot loader is 100% required but I have it on mine.
I'm getting ready to take an exam, if you haven't got it sorted before I return, I'll help you get running.
Thanks for the reply, I do have the gb bootloaders and I tried going back to stock and still no luck. I get a soft brick every time.

Which ICS ROM are you coming from, and are you doing full wipe?
I had a chance to think about it, and I had trouble getting up to 4.1 the first time I tried. I ended up stepping up gradually.
Odin'd to stock then went up to bionic, skipped GB, went up to latest CM ICS I believe... Then from there onto JB. Been fine since.
Its been a while but that's best as my memory cares to serve me.
I don't think its a real common problem, but occasionally something doesn't jive somewhere.
Hi,
Its not necessary BUT it will always work Odin back to stock and continuing. Once I tried to flash ICZen from FROYO but no luck. Then I ODIN back to stock then CM7 in the middle and ICS on top of it and it WORKED. I have flashed GB bootloaders to get easy key mapping (Anyway u have to flash it if it is required by the ROM) I have flahed JB 4.2.2 Avatar ROM on top of ICZen which has worked for me. woody has a [Guide] How to install ICS **EVERYTHING you need to know how to install them** so you can get an idea Sometimes you have to flash the ROM twice b/c CWM updation
Always do a CLEAN flash (FULL wipe) before flashing a new ROM
Hope u would get JB ROM flashed successfully
tc
