I would like the same and I would make it myself if I knew how to unpack the .qmg file.
here you go! enjoy
EDIT: sorry, this is the vibrant Galaxy S boot. I thought i had the I9k
How would you go about installing this via root explorer?
I'm on Obsidian v5 if that helps any.
Just move the file to system/media
V5 custom vibrant
Here you go...
You can also get it from SGStools

This contains a qmg file. If i rename the zip to bootanimation.zip it should work?
In case you were still waiting for a reply, no it should not work. A qmg file is a compressed video file using some proprietary format that gets played. Bootanimation.zips contain a series of images that are linked together to create an animation.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

OK, so I've flashed this, and I still get that drunken clam from Team Whiskey. Is there another location the bootanimation.zip is stored? I can see everything else as far as the Galaxy S boot and sound but it flickers in between the drunken clam. Any ideas?

I've already done that and it still pops up and I've even gone to the length of deleting everything else related to a boot image.

Sorry, didn't realize you did that already. Hmm. I don't know then. That's all I had to delete.

Hmmm....odd, now I have the bootsound with the clam....this is interesting
Don't know if you know this, but the bootsound comes from /etc/PowerOn.wav. I just renamed it to NoPowerOn to get rid of the boot sound.

check untermensch thread of the i9000 boot and shutdown animation. i have steps on what i did to get it to work on a rom modified for bootanimations.zip
whats happening is the zip you're flashing, isnt installing the qmg files to the system/media. so you'll have to push them manually with root explorer

If you move the samsungalaxy.zip file (unless that's just a flashable zip), make sure you rename it to bootanimation.zip
All it does when you move it is replace the existing one.

The odex file has to match. What firmware are you running? You can also try a deodexed apk from a custom rom.

I'am running KF3 kernel.
I have downloaded already a custom rom but when unzipped
there are some image files and when I try to unzip those or mount
it with some iso program it will give a error.

I attached a program that will help you. Unzip and install.
1. Open the program and click on the "Drives" tab then "mount image" use the factoryfs.img from the rom you downloaded.
2. Once the image is loaded it will be labeled "Linux native volume 1" double click this.
3. This will open up the drive and allow you to view the contents. Search for the files you need and then click the "save" tab.
I also attached a deodexed apk for you, see if it works.
Gonna try it tonight.
Thnx for your help.
Jobmanager won't install.
I put it in the system/app folder that's good right?

Yes that's right. It should work, have you tried rebooting your phone? Also make sure that there is no .odex file for jobmanager. If there is, delete it from system/apps if you're using the deodexed one I gave you.

after trying out several roms, I noticed that some have 'quick office' built in and some don't. The rom I'm running now and really like (Shostock) doesn't have it. Is there a .apk somewhere that I can download?
thanks.
Check my rom page I have a bloat.zip that has it included.

do I flash the whole zip or can install polarisOffice.apk by itself? I installed it by itself and keep getting the 'force close' error when trying to open a pdf or word doc.
thanks.

It has required lib files that go along with it. As you have witnessed, it won't work without them.

This.
So basically once you grab the APK and place it back in /data/app or /system/app then you need to grab the quickoffice lib file and put it in /system/lib.
If you get stuck I can make you a zip but it has to be later, work is busy right now.

I'm not saying that Omega rom doesn't have the gallery app at all. In my case I can't find it in the /system/apps/ folder. It must've gotten deleted somehow. It'll be of great help if you could upload yours or provide a link from where I can download the app.

Yeah thanks for the tip!..I forgot I could extract it from the zip I downloaded..
Its weird that the app disappeared from system folder as well.. Anyway thanks a ton!
i wasn't saying you lied...
i said you should get the downloaded omega file, open it (pc\phone doesn't matter) and extract only the SecGallery2_Galaxy.apk located at system\app\ inside the omega zip and than copy it to your /system/app and make sure permissions are the same as all the other apk's in this folder.
make sure you mount r/w on so you can copy the file.
Been searching for an hour or so now. Is there a source for the stock .apk files?
I accidentally deleted the clock...lol.

Thank you. The file is there. For some reason though I cannot copy/paste the file back to the proper directory, says I do not have permission. I checked the permission and they are fine. Any ideas?

That was it, I had forgotten to coy over the odex file too and then reboot.
Permissions were copied correctly with the file from the .zip
