Hello,
I know it is technically possible to broadcast internet through the phones WiFi Router, but I found that I can only transmit the signal I recieve from 2G/3G etc.. My question is can I use my desktop PC as a source of internet (through the usb cable) through activesync and then broadcast it through WiFI. Iam asking this question, as my wifi router is now dead and Ive lost my wifi network, so I need a substitute until I recieve my new router.
Thanks, The Wiz!
Hi,
I just set up a VPN connection with my Galaxy Nexus to my Router at home. It works but I realized that the connection drops at some point. This is quite annoying because I want to use it as a security measure when staying at hotels and using their open WiFi. But when the VPN drops at some point and the WiFi stays connected this does not really make sense because my phone will keep sending data.
Is there anything I can do? Why disconnects the VPN at some point?
Can I at least tell the WiFi to cancel when the VPN drops?
Thank you!
I have a WiFi signal named Linksys @ my work; without passwords just open service. My phone connects to this when I go to work.
I also have a WiFi at home also named Linksys which is not my WiFi but it's my neighbor's. It's not secured but I dont get any service when connected to this. I have a WiFi signal of my own.
Once in a while my phone will switch from my OWN WiFi signal to my neighbor's Linksys thinking it's a signal from my work.
When this happens, i lose all my connections.
Is there a way for me to fix this problem?
When i enable wifi hotspot or wifi tether it shuts down wifi. some apps do not communicate with same network even though it can ping each other.
Obviously, WiFi tether/hotspot needs the same WiFi transceiver that is used for WiFi reception, so they can't work continuously. You won't find any phone that doesn't have it the same way, because it doesn't make any practical sense to have both WiFi and WiFi hotspot on at the same time.
When you hotshot you can only share your mobile internet over wifi as the wifi of the phone cannot simultaneously receive and share Internet. You can only receive mobile internet and share wifi, hope that clears things up a little
Like it was said earlier, you can only choose to connect to the Internet or share it, not both at the same time.
I know it seems pointless, but there is a reason for this... Is it possible to share my 4G/LTE internet with a router so that other devices can connect to the internet through my phone while my phone still possess the ability to use the internet?
Most would recommend setting up the hotspot, but the apps that I am trying to use are checking to see if the device is connected to a network and hotspot "disables" wifi so it looks like my phone isn't actually on a network.
What I would like is for the phone to connect to a router and share it's internet while it retains internet access.
Nexus 5 [INTERNET from 4G/LTE] ---> Nano USB Router [HooToo Tripmate Router] ---> Nexus 7 [As car stereo head unit]
Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated.
