Blurry contact pictures

Well, folks, I searched, and the last comment on blurry pictures was in December 2010. And another is on HD2 General with no replies.
I am on AT&T with a debranded X10a, and since I debranded in December and upgraded to 2.1 Generic NAM, the caller ID pictures would show up blurry. On 1.6, that could be solved by reassigning the picture afresh (after reloading a contacts backup). This did not work on 2.1.
Until the latest upgrade. I just got the upgrade from SEUS last night (build 2.1.A.0.435). The pictures on the caller ID were blurry. Editing the contact and touching on the picture and selecting "set as contact picture" on the pop-up menu did not change anything. So I went into Mediascape and navigated to the said contact's picture on the SD card, and reassigned to contact. Voila! I dial the contact, and an HD picture shows up on the ID! Grrrreat!
Note: It doesn't matter what you used to backup your contacts. I had saved my contacts to the SD card, then reloaded the .VCf card. No need to sync with Google. But if you do, just reassign picture from the "Library"
I hope other people searching on this problem will find this a useful hit for their querry.

I have followed the way you have explained in your thread, even then i couldnt get the desired results. (Pictures are still blurry). Is there anyway that let me out frm this situation??
saihaan you have old firmware. Update to the build 2.1.A.0.435
I ripped Mediascape out, but going to add it back if it fixes the Blurry Pics problem

Yep! like he said, u need 2.1.A.0.435. The earlier build does not work. reassigning picture on oder build only makes it a little les blurry, but stil blurry. so, use SEUS or PC Companion to update to 2.1.A.0435, then reassign pictures to contacts from the Mediascape library.
That works for contact pics saved on SD but not for contact pics that are using Facebook pics, they're still blurred. Any suggestions for that?
The worst story of this is, after you backup and restore using any known method (except for xRecovery I guess), you will end up with blurry pictures again!!
please Help

[Q] HQ picture in MMS not working

Hi all.
I have a problem with sending mms on x10 with 2.3.3. The problem is that it does not compress images well. Pictures taken in the quality 8MP 4:3 larger than 2mb compresses the 413k. Max in MMS I can upload 300kb. Do you have a patent on it so that high-quality images could send mms. I do not want to do every time lower images specifically for sending mms.
Is there any alternative application or program to compress images on android 2.3.3?
The all in lower quality pictures send and receive without a problem.
I have the same problem, so I use Handcent just when I need to send a picture.
I prefer the stock sms app to daily use.

x10i 2.3.3 rooted.
Im' having this exact same issue, but now I'm using WB roms and still same problem. Images are compressed to between 350-450kb and I can not find an option anywhere in the default app or the system settings to set a maximum mms size.

single picture mms are shown as a slideshow

Hi, I'm a new s2 user and I have found that the single picture mms comes as slideshow. Is any fix for this problem in stock rom?

MMS and animated gifs

Hi, just wondering if others are able to send/receive animated gifs via the stock messaging app. Whenever i try, the gifs do not move at all and are just still images. Don't know if it's cause of the .314 update or not
