We NEED More THEMES!!! :: Pa'lease :: - Vibrant Themes and Apps

I've been helping buddies get rooted on their phones and one thing they always want is a custom theme... because of this I research and find good (professional) ones for them, and there are MANY to choose from.
I don't expect people to start fresh, but can some of these be ported?
Bring the Vibrant some Sexy-Time.
Black Froyo is amazing... wish there were more options
(especially ones that played well with Nero too)

Back in the game and I've really just started using widgets to customize if you dont mind losing some battery life launcher pro plus is awesome for this
Nerov3 voodoo

^ check out some other theme sections and you'll discover what I mean.

Looking at that made me want a clear swype pad

I agree but beggers can't be choosy. I would love to learn how to theme however I never find the time to learn with so many things going on in my life. I read somewhere that junkdruggler will help you theme if you ask. Hopefully next Monday pr Tuesday I can start to play with new themes and morphs.

I know good and well where my skill set lies, and it's not with themes. I can beg all I want to, just hope it benefits ALL of us.

Just a heads up, a basic theme for the Vibrant will involve roughly 750 image edits in order to make it consistent enough to feel right. That isn't even getting into app specific edits to fit the system theme.

You think it's possible if we all share these files in PSD and edit them from there? The only thing I know how to do is edit pictures on Photoshop which I usually do. I haven't even tried edit .9.pngs but i'm willing to do it if it's not that time consuming either.

That would be pretty awesome if we had a shared dropbox folder or something.... shoot, I'll try and learn!

Lcars System for Samsung Galaxy S is now avalible for Sweeterhome2 Beta

I been searching all over the web for a decent LCARS PADD skin for android
well got tired of looking decided to go ahead and make one for myself
This is my first Attempt at making a functional Lcars system
lot of hours went into searching and interface design simple to use
pain to design anyways let me know what you guys think this version is the first and is subject to change
download sweeterhome beta 2 first

Hey guys been getting questions about lcars system in color well currently I am working on just that!
Something minimalistic at the same time very efficient as far as functionality and theme wise will be posting

discontiued
hey guys im going to go ahead and stop providing support on my lcars theme i put alot of time into designing a theme that functioned and looked good aswell
but support for my work was pretty much none so unfortunately that is my de-motivator anyways best of luck guys
thanks to those who downloaded and tried it but this is me bidding adieu

Wow, impressive. Could you do one that's in color next? Part of the appeal imo of the LCARS was the colors. Maybe do a TMP-era (blue/green) and TNG (purple/orange) versions?

Just sticking with the scifi motif , if it was me personally , I would do a Cylon interface, Eureka and Warehouse 13 as well As SG:A ...
I'll look into that I'm all for the scifi based computer interfaces they were so creative and artistic now I plan on making then actually functional

Hi,
First of all - many thanks for the great effort of making this cool LCARS!
I got a quick question as there's no manual for some of feature.
I wonder about the top screen (the map screen). Could you please explain a bit more about the map feature ?
It is just static map (not GPS), or does it show where you are currently in or what?
Currently it shows California. While it is my fave state, I am in UK which is like 5,000 miles east of California. hence my wondering about that map part.
Please let me know if it is just a static map or should be "live map" (/show where you are currently in)?
Many thanks again!
the map is just static not much to explain until there is a way to implement a gps fix i used it as a place holder
How could I port this over to the Nexus one?

[Q] SenseUI Metamorph Themes - More out there?

I swear that I can remember there being a host of Metamorph themes that will morph SenseUI with dark Rosies and different types of batteries (yes, I know there are lots of circle battery flashes) and things.
I scum through the Hero themes and apps, and can't find much.
I scum thorugh the Eris themes and apps, and SWEAR I can remember more, months ago.
I am I confused? I feel like SOMEONE would have/did make a blue battery/highlight color flash, or a different Android guy when a no-picture-stored contact/caller is on the line, or a graphite/black battery, or clear notification bars.
I see that there are LOT of cyanogenmod themes, and that's super. But although I see an awesome orange xtrSense theme there, I am lost on where all the metamorph themes I remember seeing, went to.
I feel stupid almost, since I've been around computers for years, and spent LOTS of time on forums, and even helping people, and rooting friends' phones, etc etc etc.
I swore I remember seeing a HTC hero theme repository thread with like 100 different little themes and metamorphs. I can't even find that (assuming any of those would work).
Am I crazy? Confused? (feel free to slap sense into me if so)
Where are all the SenseUI metamorph themes? Do I need to try to learn how to make some?
Yessir
I've been wondering this too, I remember before I rooted seeing a picture of an Eris with a black rosie and all the grey turned black. Heck that was half the reason I rooted, but I never have found it lol. guess I got side tracked.
I've been thinking of trying to make some Themes for punk.kaos's froyo sense when it gets stable. I've figured out a little about theming android, (I'm still not that good and have never themed sense, so dont expect much.)
I'd LOVE to have a white and blue sense theme though, that'd be on point.
I have only made two themes for the eris. One I posted on here the other is not done, so I guess that technically 1 1/2 but who's counting, and I can tell you it is more tideous work then actual challenge. The reason for lack of themes is probably just a demand thing. Most people that have the eris have had it for awhile. So they either already have it how they like it or have moved onto another device. I think it would be great for those of us with the eris to help out with theming and developing. With all the hard work the developers put in to the roms the least us as the end user can do is make some themes for others to use and give a variety of option for roms to look. </rant>
I think that may come off harsher then it was meant to when I was typing this. Anyway, if you or anybody else on here needs help making themes, I would be more than happy to help in anyway I can just message me on here I check this place probably 50 times a day. I would love to help some people get on the theming bus and help make some new themes for us to choose from.

I dont think thats harsh at all, its just plain fair.
the handfull of devs here work so hard bringing us roms we never would dream of seeing on our phone, the least we can do -if we are able- is contribute a little time to editing some pictures. it makes all our phones have that many more options. course...lifes not fair
I would love to learn. Where do you suggest I start? I've already taken pieces from several different themes to make what I want. I would like to see a nice sense ui theme. It can be done, shadowrom has a theme that is as close to sense that I've seen yet. They got about everything but HTC Widgets and the real htc launcher. However the themer made an HTC launcher dock background and some blank icons that when using launcher pro is very nice because your icons don't show up on the dock like they normally would. What would it take to incorporate the real launcher into a theme?

[Q][REQUEST] DarkEdge UI Theme for Eris

If the creators of DarkEdge were to give the OK, would someone here be able to port this for the Eris running CM6? I've sent a note to see if we can get permissiion to port it.
DarkEdge UI Original
DarkEdge UI 2.2
DarkEdge UI Gallery
Edit/Update: Thanks to the hard work of KagedIn, we have a port!
I tried the Hero MDPI DarkEdge UI on CELB 3.5 and got boot loops. I also tried porting the theme over (for personal use) using Theme-Porter and Update.zip Creator. While both scripts completed successfully and created a valid update.zip which installed wonderfully on my device, nothing changed.
I've never attempted to port a theme before, so I'm sure that I'm missing some very important elements here to be able to accomplish this. If anyone out there who is more experienced is able to port this over (with permission, of course), that would be really, really cool
I was able to use Asimmons DarkEdge port for the Hero Asimmon's big theme porting thread and TheDeathly's Universal Theme Porter to get this working on the Eris. Some things aren't working well (black text on black buttons), but otherwise it's pretty beautiful.
I wasn't able to get an update.zip that worked, so I pushed everything over manually using adb. I have not yet heard back from the DarkEdge team as to whether or not I can officially post the theme, so no links at this time.
I really don't know much about theming, and I know Asimmons could use some help working out the kinks with the black text and some other things - so to my great and wonderful Eris themers, if someone wants to either take over or help with this project - please take the reins!
Cool, great job. I'm very interested in this as well and will be glad to help.
I was just thinking over the weekend that I guess I'm gonna have to start figuring out how to theme because it seems like all the good dark themes are getting neglected these days.
I want to keep up with latest froyo, but I want my dark flavor as well......
Hey I'm working on porting this right now, I've made some good headway but still far from a release I'm attempting to make it into a metamorph theme I'm at least a couple days away from working most of the issues but if anyones still interested I'd be willing to post it when its finished

I'm in! I've been able to get a good chunk of Asimmons hero port working on my Eris, but the work has been mostly manual at this point and definitely not something that could be metamorphed or zipped.
Have you got the text thing figured out? I'm downloading the theme and the porter right now and following your footsteps.......I will probably have some questions though if you don't mind.

After some research I found a lot of people with text color issue in porting this theme so instead of trying to change the system font color which is a very difficult task I used a simple workaround to make all buttons popups and menus readable
The hardest part is done IMO so ill hopefully have a full version ready by the end of the week
Sent from my Floyo Tazz using XDA App
I was thinking the same thing, it would be better to change the button and chooser backgrounds rather than trying to figure out how to change the font color. I tried just about everything in the .xml files in framework-res.apk, but wasn't able to make a dent myself.
I'm so glad that you're working on this - definitely deserves a beer BTW, are you porting the default gold or another color?

I really appreciate the work both of you are doing on this.....I was messing around with it last night and realize how much time it takes. Any progress?......I've been messing around with my phone and got a few things changed up. Icons, phone skin, pop up skins, fun stuff, but time consuming. I'm going for a battery change today.
Is there any thing we can do to help?

[Q] Question about AoCP ROM

I have a question regarding [ROM/MOD]*TheCollective*[02-26-13] AoCP - CP5<VBTE> {4.2.2} for i717
In review videos I have seen an AoCP options section in Settings but I have flashed this build and do not have that option. Is this deliberately missing in this build?
EDIT:
So far so good with this ROM but I have another question/concern regarding this ROM. So far it's been the most stable ROM I have used, other than stock, but I really do not like the orange system UI. I'm sure some people love it but since blue is my favourite colour, I love the "stock" blue of most Android ROMs and wish there was an easy way to change this. The OP for the AoCP ROM states that there are AoCP themes available in the market but they are all paid themes. I don't think I should have to pay to get my ROM back to stock look. This seems like a cheap nickel and dime scheme. I would much rather donate more money to the AoCP project than pay $0.99 for something that should come stock. Give people the option to pick the orange or blue theme in the theme chooser.
I am not trying to bash AoCP developers, I appreciate the work they have done on this ROM since it is the most stable one I have used (plus it's 4.2.2 while Rogers is stuck on 4.0.4 and still waiting for 4.1.2!), we just shouldn't have to pay not to have the ugly orange UI. This UI would be great around Halloween but other than that, stock blue please! If AoCP does this I would donate more money to their cause rather than buying a $0.99 theme.
to answer your first question it is missing due to this being an early build of 4.2.2 and they haven't gotten everything added in that they want.
The second question: it is their rom and they like the orange color. There is no where that says you have to flash their rom on your phone. They can make it whatever color they want. There are plenty of other theme chooser themes out there that are free that you could apply to the rom, or you could find another rom that suits your color needs. here is a thread on xda that has many themes to choose from

Hi,
Thanks for the input. I was wondering why these options were missing because otherwise, it's not really different than CM 10.1, other than being a lot more stable thankfully, which is definitely worth it!
I agree that they can choose whatever colour that they want for their ROM BUT orange is a colour that you have to really love for a system UI. You don't see Apple, Google, Windows Phone or BlackBerry using orange for their default UIs and that's because it is something that most people will not like. The problem I have is that to get my stock UI colour back, I'm expected to pay them for this. I would much rather donate $10 to their cause as opposed to being nickel and dimed for a $0.99 theme. It wouldn't be hard to give users the choice to switch to the default blue UI. Browsing through the ROM thread, there are many people unhappy with the orange UI. Also, I just want the stock UI, not different icons/fonts/etc. Thankfully with Nova Launcher I can get rid of the ugly orange icons and use the stock Jelly Bean ones but I still get stuck with the rest of the orange UI. Even if I use another theme from someone else, it doesn't get rid of all of the orange. AoCP has deeply embedded the orange UI into every possible place and other themes don't fully get rid of this. So, to fully get rid of it, you have to pay them and like I said, I would pay them MORE to support them rather than have to pay to get rid of the orange. It's simply the principle of it.
The developers make stuff for themselves because they can do that stuff. They only have to please themselves.
They share their work with us, and we can enjoy it or not.
Would it be ok to go to Michelangelo and say "Thats a pretty girl with a nice smile, but most men like blondes. Redo her with blonde hair."
Pay the buck for the theme and stop complaining. Artists are tempermental -- we don't want to lose our developers!

Comparing a developer to Michelangelo is a stretch of the imagination. I appreciate their hard work but developers only have to please themselves if they truly make it for themselves. Once they release it to the public, it's fair game for criticism. I think they would gain more support and donations if this simple change was implemented. Leave the default theme orange but let the user decide via the theme chooser. Like I said already, I would donate more than the $0.99 theme price if this happens.
Even if I do pay them for one of their themes, none of them truly offer the stock experience, which is what I am looking for. One of the reasons why I install ROMs is because I don't like the Samsung stock ROM. I like the vanilla Jelly Bean interface. I also like the modifications that Paranoid Android does with changing the DPI of individual apps but it has proven to be unstable, rebooting multiple times a day. So far, this is the only ROM that has been truly stable so far and my only real problem with it is the orange UI, as other people have voiced as well.
OP-Please read my signature line, and then read it again.....because every word is true.
Developers here exist out of desire to improve their personal devices, and often choose to openly share what they have created with us, FOR FREE. And they take nothing in return. But on occasion, kind members give back to them, as a token of appreciation for the countless hours they spend building code we freely use and enjoy. If you are unable to enjoy their creations, you have the choice to leave your device stock, and trust in the Factory team that calls your device good enough in it's mass produced form.
Developers are artists in their own right, and deserve the respect they have clearly earned.
Perhaps you should create your own ROM, and change the orange UI to something more appealing to your tastes. And share it with us for free after you have spent 100's of hours working on it, using your time and resources. I'd like that very much.
But if you lack the ability or the time to create a non-orange themed rom, perhaps you could just say THANK YOU, to the developer who did, and move on to something less orange.
Happy flashing......g
