I haven't had my sd card in during this entire process so I know that the file is on the internal sd and it shows up in ASTRO File Manager. But when in Recovery menu and after selecting "Reinstall Packages" it says "No such file or directory". Can anyone tell me what is happening? PLEASE
Which update file did you download?
Download pc or phone? Is it named proper?
Does show as:
sdcard/update.zip
I got the file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723479&highlight=root
Downloaded onto my PC and transferred the file to my phone. When in ASTRO I go to /sdcard and then find update.zip when I open it the file manager says /sdcard/update.zip.zip and two files are in it. "META-INF and system
It looks like you did the same thing I did using the same instructions...
I renamed the file "update.zip" which just tacked it onto the already existing ".zip" to give me "update.zip.zip" and it gave me the same error. All I had to do was rename the file "update".
haha, yeap... this is why I asked if you downloaded it to your pc, common mistake.
That is why in the noob-guide sticky I renamed the file update.zip automatically so this step was taken out.
Alright everything is now good now. Thanks guys. My iPad is now tethered to my Vibe. SO SWEET ! ! !
Next to come I might have to look into the lag fixes because that has been bugging me. Can someone tell me quick if the lag fix repairs the issue with the gallery when it is opened and acts silly?
Can someone tell me if I can delete "update.zip" after I have done this?
^ leave it. Go download rom manager and flash cwr. Make a backup.
Voodoo converts the file system to ext4, this is the method to take. It's added to the stock kernels so it's rock solid. Ext4 will help with the lag. Not sure what gallery problems you are referencing.
Telling you, nero v3 plus voodoo = Great
What is rom manager and cwr going to do for me? Why should I do this, I just don't know what those do. The silly gallery issue is sometimes opening the gallery and the phone because unresponsive and the gallery goes dark and only shows the font of the folders in the gallery.
It allows you to make a backup of your system, and flash custom rom's.

Hai!
So I just copied the Android Froyo files directly onto my SD card, and when I try to open them on my HTC HD2 I recieve an error that the file cant be opened and I should try to reinstall it.
Any help ?
Bai!
When you unzip the downloaded zipped file on your PC, you should end up with an android folder. It's that folder that you need in the root of your SD.
It's detailed very clearly how to install and run Android on every single build page that I've read. You should start where you downloaded it from.

I did that, same error.
Anyonez ?
Please
We're not mind readers. What exactly did you do and what was the error?
ALright:
- I copied the folder to my SD Card on the HD2.
- I go to 'Start' -> File explorer -> And then I select the audio file thing and after that the file to start the Android itself.
When I do the last step, I get an error that says:
The file "CLRCAD/HARET" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's componets cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.."
Search for sdkcerts and install that on your phone. That should fix your problem.
Sent from my iPhone 5 beta using the XDA App
Does it matter where I extract the file to ?
Do I have to put it on my SD card or on my HD2 program files ?
THANKS!
Tried both locations, getting an error while installing the .cab:
'Installation of SdkCerts.cab has failed.'

Make your own topic please.
So what point I am at:
- I copied the Android folder to my SD Card on the HD2.
-------------------
Then this person told me to download a .cab that would fix all the problems, and when I wanted to install it I got the error:
'Installation of SdkCerts.cab has failed.'
--------------------
And now I dont have a CLUE what to do! Lol
I am guessing you are running a stock windows mobile rom? You need to either run a custom rom or find "Advanced Configuration Tool" and install it so you can enable the rom to run all unsigned applications. Then you can run the android apps to boot it.
It is in the misc. section. More info: http://www.touchxperience.com/en/applications/advanced-configuration-tool.html
Uhm, where can I find a custom ROM :$?
I tried that Advanced Config, but when I try to run it on my phone it just gives me the error:
The file "AdvancedConfig" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of it's componets cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.."
**** it, I will just peform a hard reset
Making a back-up of my contacts at this moment.
Peformed a Hard-Reset and the Android and all other files are working FKING GREAT!
Love you guys!
If you get that problem again, you should install an app called "bsb tweaks" (or a similar app) and set it to "allow unsigned"
this should allow you to install things that you couldnt before...........
Glad you got it sorted.
Thanks, John, for helping me out!
I think I'm getting a corrupted download from the FTP site, CWR won't install the .zip, says it's bad. Anyone have Northeast 1.2 and can post it or send it to me?
My GPS was great before but after I upgraded the radio I can't get a lock at all.
Here you go, I've enclosed the zip. If it still won't work for you what I do is just update the file in the rom and flash that. Which in this case would be system/etc/gps.conf. I've always kept a copy of the rom on my memory card and update it as needed. What I do is move the rom and whatever the other zip is to my desktop and use 7-zip to "open archive" on both zip files. I do this on my desktop because I get more consistent results versus trying to do it on the sd card. You can either delete the file in the rom and drag/drop the new gps.conf into it or you can right-click the file "edit" copy/paste the text into gps.conf. You could use adb to do this I'm sure but I for one am too lazy/stupid to download, figure out and use it. Using the above method I've updated/replaced "all" the google apps, updated the hosts file, modified the build.prop, tried a couple different gps scripts and I have a completely updated rom (Liberated 2.2.2). And the updates for the google apps aren't stealing internal storage.
If you use GPS Status (free download) reset and download new assistance data.
Awesome thanks!
ok.... I have Samsung Fascinate.
PWGB2.0 beta3 ROM
I found the zip containing on here(XDA) somewhere containing the BuddiesNow app for my phone and installed it. I then found the BuddiesNow for Vibrant tweaked for the Fascinate. I went to /system/app and located my BuddiesNow I had placed in there 1st and renamed it .bak
I then placed the Vibrant BuddiesNow app in the /system/app folder.
It worked great. I discovered I liked the Vibrant BuddiesNow app much better.
*************
ok... now my issue. I picked my phone up ealier this week and went to use my Vibrant BuddiesNow app and it was gone. I then long pressed the blank screen and pressed Widgets from the list that popped up. I scroll thru the list and BuddiesNow does not show up in the list.
I then open my file manager and navigate to /system/app folder and BuddiesNow is not in there. Not even the .bak file version.
I then go to my SDcard and find the copy of the Vibrant BuddiesNow app I had originally stored in a folder there and tried to copy it to the /system/app folder. The error message pops up saying that the file already exist and cant paste the file here.
I then booted into recovery, tried wiping partition cache and dalvik cache.
That did not help any. Got same result when I tried to move the file to /system/app folder again.
I then thought I would be cleaver and rename the Vibrant BuddiesNow in my SDcard folder to [BuddiesNow.apk.grid] and then move it to the /system/app folder. AND THEN AFTER PLACING IN THE /system/app FOLDER, RENAME IT TO .APK
That did not work either! It also diappeared.... now I have BuddiesNow.apk,
BuddiesNow.apk.bak, BuddiesNow.apk.grid, all in the /system/app folder and all invisible.
I had the file manager settings to SHOW HIDDEN FILES from the beginning.
I also have tried the SEARCH function in the file manager but it shows no results. I have tried installing many file manager apps and attempting to see if a different file manager would show the files but none did.....
I tried to write this episode as short as possible.. this is the best I could do to cover al the bases...
what could be a fix????????? PLEASE ADVISE! I LOVE MY BUDDIESNOW!
Come one...anyone? I love my buddiesnow app. Please help me out here
hard to belive
hard to believe someone has not seen this before and has an idea how to fix it...
I love this forum anyways

OVERWRITE FILE is not an option to choose... in this particular problem with this
particular apk disappearance, the option to overwrite is not there.
I have had the overwrite option at other times but not now with this issue fo who know what reason.
I am going to factory reset I guess and start over.
hasn't anyone else had the same issue?
Not sure if this would be helpful but when I had a similar issue I just used titanium backup and found the file that "already existed" and removed it. Also, you can use any file manager that allows you to sort by date modified and look for any buddynow files that may be in a folder that you didn't think about looking in
did you maybe moved the app to your sdcard ? sometimes app's widgets wont show if you move them to sdcard. If you did so move it back to the phone's memory

I used the search function in the various file managers I have tried & even searched the entire phone (and also the /system/app )for he disappeared files and got no results...when I get some time next week I am going to sit down and factory reset my phone and start all over.
if it works I will not try the vibrant version of buddiesnow on my phone again,
I will just use the fascinate version of buddiesnow. (the vibrant version sure was nicer tho)....

I am not sure about CM10 but when you want to flash files in CWM, you need them in a flashable ZIP file, not extract them!
exactly what chris said leave the .zip as is don't unzip the files and transfer it to your sd card now you should be good
I recently rooted my G3. Step two was to download a recovery and make a backup. Recovery downloaded fine. Started making my backup and everything seemed to work. It said it successfully made the backup, but I can't find the nandroid file anywhere. I've read some other threads about where they are typically located, and forgive me if I'm overlooking one here on XDA, but my backup isn't in any of the locations those threads suggest. There is no folder that I can find named TWRP. I've looked in media, backups, storage, mnt, nothing. This is looking from both The file explorer within the TWRP Manager app, and ES File Explorer. The most I can find are these three files with question mark icons called "TWRP", "oldrecovey", and "newrecovery" (see screenshot, files are at bottom left). Nothing there though under the file name I saw when I created the backup....which was the date, and then a few more numbers, and then I added the word "stock" to the end.
I did notice a prompt when I opened TWRP the first time that said I didn't have busybox installed and would I like to install it. I clicked on to install it but it didn't seem like anything happened. Could that be the issue?
I'm sure it's something simple but I'm new to all this.
Thanks!
Update on this. I figured out that ES File Explorer has to have root access enabled. So, I did that, and now I can find the recovery file in ES File Explorer. Still not seeing it in the file menu of the TWRP Manager app though. I'm glad to know my backup does in fact exist, however it seems like I'm going to want to be able to navigate to it through TWRP Manager if I ever really need to use it.
Still can't navigate to backup in TWRP Manager
I can navigate to /data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS with ES File Explorer, but not from within TWRP Manager. Gotta be a fix for this. Anyone??
